Sam woke up in the middle of the night after a wonderful dream. She was at home with Jason and Danny. The three of them were finally a family. She was sitting on the couch watching as Jason played with Danny. Danny had suddenly looked up and called Jason 'Daddy'. It was wonderful, at least until she woke up in her hotel suite and was brought back to reality. She and Danny were on the run with Jake and Jason was still missing. But it was still better than the nightmare she'd lived when she thought Jason was dead, and then again when Danny went missing. She would see her dream come true. She, Jason, and Danny would be a family again.

Danny got out of bed. She decided that she would check on Danny and then grab a glass of water. She was about to peek into Danny's room when she heard movement down the hall. She walked down and looked into the bathroom. Jake was there splashing water on his face. He looked upset. "Are you alright, Jake?"

Jake turned to her startled. "Hey. Did I wake you up?"

Sam shook her head. "No, I woke up on my own. What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Jake lied.

"Jake, your hands are shaking. Something is up," Sam said.

Jake sighed and shut off the sink. "It's fine. I just had a nightmare. I hope it was a nightmare anyway. I hope it didn't actually happen," Jake said.

Sam walked into the bathroom. "What happened?"

"I...I was holding a baby," Jake said in a shaky voice.

"Your son?" Sam asked with a frown. She wasn't sure why that would upset him so much. She would think he'd be happy about having more memories of his family.

Jake shook his head. "It was a different baby, a girl. Sh...she was dead."

Sam closed her eyes sadly. Now she hoped it was a nightmare too. She knew what it meant to lose a child. Jake didn't deserve to feel that. She wasn't all that close with him and still held a great deal of resentment for him for taking Danny, despite his good reasons for it, but he was not a horrible person, and even if he was, he didn't deserve to lose a child. "If it was a memory, I"m sorry."

"I think it was. I don't want it to be, but I could feel her in my arms. I felt so much pain in the dream. No, it wasn't a dream. That baby was mine," Jake said. He couldn't totally explain how he knew it, but he knew that he loved that child.

Sam reached out and took his hand. "Come on, let's go into the other room."

Jake followed her out of the bathroom and to the living room. They both sat down on the couch. "I know what it feels like to lose a child. Danny isn't my first. Several years ago, I had a little girl. She died right after I had her."

"I'm sorry," Jake said.

"God, it hurt so bad. It still does. I miss her so much. I never saw her, though a part of me is glad for that. I don't know if I could've handled it. Jason saw her and held her though. I'm grateful for that. She was gone by then, but I hope that she somehow felt him," Sam said, doing her best to keep the tears at bay. She missed her baby so much.

"I'm really sorry, Sam. That dream hurt so much and I don't even totally remember it. I can't imagine what it was like for you to live with it all this time. Man, it must have killed Jason to hold her and know she was gone," Jake said with a shudder.

"I'm sure it did. Jason was more worried about me and I was in too much pain to really consider his, but I know he loved her and missed her just like she was his," Sam said.

"She wasn't?" Jake asked surprised.

"No, not by blood. His best friend Sonny was her father. See, Jason and I really got together through his friend, Sonny. Sonny and I got together when his marriage with Carly was falling apart. I'm not proud of this, but I was the other woman," Sam said.

"He used you," Jake said a little annoyed.

"Yes, but I knew that he was. I shouldn't have gotten involved with him. At the same time though, I don't regret it. I loved my daughter and couldn't imagine her never existing. Besides, it led me to Jason," Sam said.

"How'd you and Jason get together if you were with Sonny?" Jake wondered.

"When I found out I was pregnant, there was a question on who was the father. Again, I'm not proud of that time. We had a DNA test and Jason got the results first. He messed with them. He didn't want it coming out that my baby was Sonny's," she said.

"Why not?" Jake asked.

"His nephew, Michael. Michael meant everything to Jason. That kid was as much his son as he was Sonny's. Michael nearly died trying to get his parents back together. Jason was afraid that would happen again if the baby was Sonny's. He wanted to pretend the baby was his to keep Michael's family together," Sam explained.

"That's pretty far to go," Jake commented.

"I respected him so much for it. That was the beginning for us. He pretended to be my baby's father. A lot of things happened afterwards and eventually the truth came out, but Jason was still determined to be there. Sonny was gonna be in our child's life, but in my mind, Jason was her father. She was our child," Sam said sadly before wiped the few tears that escaped.

"I'm sorry if I brought up this pain," Jake said. He really didn't mean to hurt her. He wouldn't have told her about his dream, memory really, if he'd known what she'd been through.

"It's not your fault. I'm sorry if you've lost a child too. No one deserves to lose a child like that," Sam said.

"I think I need to get my mind off of this right now. I don't wanna think about this," Jake said. He didn't wanna think about the child that he was almost a hundred percent certain he really did lose. He needed to be distracted.

"Okay, let's talk about our situation then. I was thinking we could go see a friend of mine. His family has had a lot of experience with the Cassadines. He could help us," Sam said.

"He's not in Port Charles, is he? We can't go back there," Jake said.

"No, he's in Ireland. His name's Lucky Spencer. His family has basically been at war with the Cassadines, mainly Helena, for decades," Sam said.

"Lucky. I've heard of him. He's Elizabeth's ex-husband," Jake said.

"Yeah. I think he can help us," Sam said.

"Well, we can't go anywhere until we have the new IDs," Jake said.

"They should be here soon. Sonny will get them to Spinelli and he'll send them to us. Hopefully they're already on the way," Sam said. The last time she spoke to Spinelli, she'd learned that Sonny was pardoned and back home.

"This Sonny guy is trustworthy, right?" Jake asked. He didn't really know much about this man. He knew what Carly told him, but he'd never met him himself. He was a little uneasy about trusting a stranger with their lives. It was the same with this Spinelli guy, but he knew Sam trusted him, so that made it a little better.

Sam hesitated. She trusted Sonny somewhat, but not completely. That was why she made sure Spinelli wouldn't tell Sonny their location. He might get impulsive and come there, putting their lives at risk. "He wouldn't betray us to Helena. He is very impulsive though, especially without Jason, so I made sure he doesn't know where we are and won't find out. Without Jason, he just tends to make mistakes without thinking them through. Michael lost his father because of that."

"Yeah, Carly told me about that. AJ was Jason's brother, right?" Jake asked.

Sam nodded. "They weren't really close though. They pretty much hated each other."

"So you don't think Jason will be angry?"

"He'll be livid. I'm not sure how he'll feel on the brother aspect. He didn't really have a relationship with AJ, so it might not bother him so much on that point. I'm not sure though. They were still brothers after all. The Michael thing is what's going to get him the most though. Michael meant everything to Jason. He made it possible for Sonny to adopt Michael, believing that the man would put him first. I don't think Jason will ever forgive Sonny for hurting Michael this way," Sam said. Jason had been friends with Sonny for most of his life, at least the parts he could remember, but Michael was a deal breaker. Sam was sure the Jason/Sonny relationship was over. Jason wouldn't forgive this.

"He really does love Michael. MIchael feels the same way. I've heard the way he talks about him. He's gonna be happy to find out he's alive," Jake said.

"Yeah. I think I'm gonna go back to sleep," Sam said before standing up.

"Yeah, that's a good idea. Thanks for talking to me. I'm sorry again if I brought up painful memories," Jake said.

"Those memories are always there. Besides, you didn't force me to talk about them. Goodnight, Jake," Sam said.

"Night," Jake said as he watched her walk away.
