"Attack Stardust Dragon with Nightmare Sword Slash!"
Frelt hefted his sword and brought it down on Stardust Dragon. A shockwave of energy hit Mateo, and his Mark of the Dragon began to glow. His eyes went white for a brief moment, causing the bolt of darkness headed for Yusei to alter course and strike Mateo directly. "AAAAAGH!"
Mateo: 3300 LP-3200 LP
A purple glow flowed through Frelt's sword, and entered his body, causing him to grow in size. The dark energy it was emitting pushed against the other Signers harder, but was not strong enough to punch through the power of the Crimson Dragon. He then grabbed Dark Shielder and absorbed energy from it in order to maintain itself.
Frelt, the Ender of Lives: 2600 ATK + 2500 ATK = 5100 ATK
"There's no way you can win, Yurigaya!" Anya laughed maniacally. "There's no way you can defeat Frelt! Hah hahahahahah!"
"We'll see! See, one thing that I remember from our last duel was that Stardust Xiaolong was capable of resisting your attacks!" Mateo countered. "And since Frelt prevents other monsters you control from attacking, you can't attack enough times in one turn in order to destroy it!"
"Clever. But how long will that hold out? I still have a Speed Spell – Defense Buster somewhere in my deck," Anya countered, "and it will only take one attack from Frelt to wipe you out, even if your monster can't be destroyed in battle!"
"Well, we'll just have to wait and find out!" Mateo drew a card from his deck. "It's my turn!"

"I'm gonna rely on my Xiaolong, so I'll end my turn!"
"Jokes on you! Draw!" Anya looked at the card she drew, and frowned. "Well, this is problematic."

"At least, problematic for you!" Anya smirked. Anya played a card, which caused a warrior in black armor with a spear to appear. "I summon Dark Impaler! This monster's got a special ability, but it doesn't matter quite right now. For now, I'm going to command Frelt, the Ender of Lives to attack Stardust Xiaolong!"
Frelt brought its sword down, and it smashed against Xiaolong, who miraculously survived. Frelt then turned and grabbed the Dark Impaler, absorbing energy from it. At the last second, it dropped the spear, and the spear impaled Stardust Xiaolong, destroying it. "What? How did you destroy my monster? Your other monster can't attack when you control Frelt!"
"Thus, the special ability of Dark Impaler! When it leaves the field, I can destroy another monster on the field." Frelt turned and glared directly at Mateo, as if looking at him like he should know this. "Since Frelt requires a tribute at the end of every turn that he makes an attack, it gave me a perfect opportunity to use Frelt to in order to destroy your monster!"
"Fine. It's my turn!"

"I summon the Maiden with Eyes of Blue in attack mode!" The Maiden appeared, and looked up at Frelt with a determined expression, while Frelt's confusion was evident on its face. "I'll place one card facedown to end my turn!"
"Draw!"

Anya: 3800 LP SPC 7-8
"I'm gonna turn this little duel into a reunion by activating my Speed Spell – Nightmare Visages spell card!" Six ghostly beings appeared to the field, all being tethered to the accompanying spell card. "If you don't remember what this card does, allow me to refresh your memory! I pay six speed counters to activate this card, and it stays on the field until I've used up all six of the tokens it is capable of summoning, as long as I'm not using the tokens for tribute summons."
Anya: SPC 8-2
"Now that I'm prepared, Frelt, attack the Maiden with Eyes of Blue!" Frelt brought its pitch black sword down towards the Maiden, but at the last second, the attack was negated, with a shield of light stopping the sword in its tracks.
"You've activated the special ability of Maiden with Eyes of Blue! When you target it for an attack, I can negate the attack, change the battle position of my monster, and then I can special summon a very special monster from my deck!" A card slid out halfway from Mateo's deck, and he pulled it the rest of the way and placed it onto the field. "And that special monster is the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"
With a roar, the mighty dragon appeared to the field, glaring at Frelt. In a standoff between this mighty monster and Frelt, both were menacing. "Luckily for you, since your attack was negated, you don't have to donate one of your Nightmare Visage tokens, but that problem will soon be remedied!"
"Grrr! I'll set one card facedown and end my turn!"
"My turn, then!"

Anya: 3800 LP SPC 2-3
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon! Attack one of the Nightmare Visages with Burst Stream of Destruction!" Blue-Eyes White Dragon roared, before blasting out a stream of powerful white light which completely annihilated one of the ghostly tokens emerging from the Nightmare Visages card. "Luckily for you, the Visages are all summoned in defense mode, so you take no battle damage, but that doesn't stop me from attacking them! Now, I activate the Urgent Tuning trap card! This allows me to send monsters I control to my grave in order to Synchro Summon a monster!"
"Well, allow me to counter with a trap card of my own!" Anya extended her arm as her card activated. "Synchro Backlash!"
"Synchro Backlash?"
"Every time you perform a Synchro Summon, you'll take a five hundred point backlash of Ener D!"
"So not only do you have a monster who can absorb the attack strength of Synchro monsters, but you've also got a card that can cap my Synchro Summons?" Mateo looked to his monsters, and then to his life points. "Looks like I've got no choice! I'm tuning level one Maiden with Eyes of Blue to level eight Blue-Eyes White Dragon! From the Primordial Egg, I call and command you to rise! Illuminate the path of destiny!
"Synchro Summon!" Maiden with Eyes of Blue cast off her form to encircle Blue-Eyes with a single glowing green Synchro Ring. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon roared as it faded away, leaving only its eight level stars, which aligned themselves in a straight line. A green light pierced all eight level stars, and then expanded to the innermost edge of the rings, causing stray bolts of energy to strike Mateo. "Aagh! Evolve, Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon!"
Mateo: 3200 LP-2700 LP
"A few life points in order to make another attack this turn? I'll take that!" Mateo pointed at one of the Nightmare Visages. "Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon, attack one of the Nightmare Visages with Primordial Breath!"
Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon opened its mouth and breathes streaks of deep blue energy, obliterating another of the Nightmare Visages. Anya growled. "It's my turn!"

"Frelt! Absorb his pitiful monster by destroying it with Nightmare Sword Slash!"
"Not so fast! Go, Speed Spell – DeSynch!"
"Speed Spell – DeSynch?"
"That's right! If I have six or more Speed Counters, I can select a Synchro monster on my field and return it to my Extra Deck!" Mateo called as his monster started to glow. "Then I can summon monsters from my Graveyard who can be used to summon that monster back! So I return my dragon in order to call back the Maiden with Eyes of Blue and Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"
Light shot out of Mateo's graveyard, taking the forms of the two monsters being returned from the Graveyard. "Have you forgotten the rules of Duel Monsters? When a monster who was targeted for an attack leaves the field before the attack goes through, a replay occurs, and I can select a new attack target! Frelt, the Ender of Lives! Destroy the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"
Frelt raised its sword and started to bring it down on the Blue-Eyes, however at the last moment, the Maiden leapt into the path of the sword. "What?"
"I've activated my Guardian with Eyes of Blue continuous trap card! When a Blue-Eyes White Dragon I control is targeted for an attack while I control a Maiden with Eyes of Blue, I can change the attack target to her!" Mateo called as a blue forcefield between the Maiden and Frelt's sword exploded into existence. "And as you know, when the Maiden with Eyes of Blue is targeted for an attack, I can negate that attack and change her battle position, and then I can summon a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my hand, deck, or graveyard!"
With a roar and a flash of light, a second Blue-Eyes White Dragon appeared to the field, standing next the other in defiance towards Frelt. "Now, since your attack was negated, you don't have to tribute one of those Nightmare Visages, but I'm not gonna let that stop me! It's my turn!"

Anya: 3800 LP SPC 4-5
"I summon the White Stone of Legend in defense mode!" Mateo's monster appeared, a glowing white stone, which was quickly coated with a blue hue. "Blue-Eyes! Attack two of the Nightmare Visages with Burst Streams of Destruction!"
Both Blue-Eyes White Dragons opened their mouths as glowing streams of white light destroyed two more of the Nightmare Visages. "How does it feel, Anya? So long as I control the Maiden and at least one Blue-Eyes White Dragon, you won't be able to attack my monsters!"
"Your little lockdown strategy won't stop me!" Anya screamed. "It's my turn!"

Anya: 3800 LP SPC 5-6
"Frelt! Obliterate that impudent stone!" Frelt slashed the stone, and it exploded.
Mateo chuckled as a card was ejected halfway from his deck. "The effect of the White Stone of Legend activates! When it is sent to the graveyard, I can add a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to my hand from my deck! Also, since you made a successful attack, you must sacrifice one of your Nightmare Visages!"
One of the final two Nightmare Visages escaped from the card and flew directly into Frelt's head, satisfying the necessary tribute. But if I can't find a way to hit Frelt, how can I hit her Life Points?
You must unlock your own power, Mateo. Mateo looked up, the familiar voice of Illeya reaching his mind. He felt a hand touch his arm on his Mark of the Dragon while another on his back. He looked to his right, and saw Illeya smiling. It is time that I showed you your true destiny. Your time spent in the Dimension of Light revealed to you a being that can help you to bring hope, however your mind was shielded from it until the time was right.
See, now, your destiny! A bright light enveloped Mateo from where Illeya was floating, and he saw a large dragon sitting before him, glowing with bright white light. It tilted its head curiously at Mateo, before opening its mouth and breathing white energy on Mateo. He opened his mouth, in awe of the mighty being before him, before he was returned to the duel. He looked down at the card he drew, and saw that it was Turbo Booster. He smirked.
I know how to win this! Mateo thought to himself. "My turn, then!"
