Chapter 21

"Aha, thanks for the lift, Yuka-san," said Rito in a thankful tone as he thought it was really kind of her to give him a lift- although she has some weird (and creepy) aspects to her, she's actually a really nice girl, Rito reflected on his (girl) friend. She does have a strong infatuation with me though- I'm thick and I can tell, so she must really like me… Rito thought with a sigh as he recalled the many friends and people he'd met over the years. "Anything for you Rito-kun, plus you can drop the '-san'- after all, we're past that stage," she remarked with a smile as Rito started getting a little embarrassed. Keep it together man, he chastised in his head. "Awww, you're so cute when you do that…" Yuka cooed with a glint in her eyes. Shaking off the awkwardness, he climbed into his room, and waved back to Yuka as she went off towards her own house. I hope I'm not too late home- oh, it's only eight anyways soo… he thought as he took in his surroundings. Hurriedly, he opened his bedroom door and rushed downstairs.

"Oww," Rito choked out as he lay there on the floor; obviously, trying to go downstairs with your eyes closed was never a good idea, but, he'd done it anyways. "You really are a beast, aren't you?" the typical voice of Nana asked rhetorically as she looked down on him; whyyy? Rito wailed once again. "Senpai was probably thinking of something ecchi, right?" Mea questioned innocently (well, maybe not so innocently then). Unfortunately, in his shaken state, he made the mistake of blurting out something… something he would really regret. "Say Nana, you've actually got proper breasts now…" he stated, still quite dazed (A/N: this is like two years into the future, so Nana is more developed, giggidy). Not even a pin could be heard as the whole house went silent- even Momo, who'd just been about to walk in; oh my, Rito-san, that is quite a bold statement, not that I would mind, Momo contemplated in her head as her 'normal' thoughts wandered off (as always). "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY, YOU BEAST?!" Nana shouted with fury as she struck the confused teenage boy right in the forehead. The connection was sweeter than fibre optics. A hole in the wall, and a smoking red mark on Rito's forehead was evidence of Nana's anger, and Rito's misfortune.

"So Mikan, how does school go for you these days?" Rito asked with interest.

"It goes fine, your highness, and that was a really strange and abnormal (for you) way of speaking," Mikan replied with a slight hint of annoyance and confusion. To her, that brother was always a weird one. "Wow, calm down; just asking a question, plus I have to take care of my cute little siste- okay, that time was definitely weird," Rito remarked to himself as he paused mid-sentence. "Anyways, I've given out all the invitations, and the invitations left are all your little friends," Rito continued casually. Already weirded out by her brother's speech, she simply nodded, then noticed smoke. "Rito, where's that smoke coming out fro- no way, your forehead! Did you annoy Nana again?" she smirked as she waved off the smoke. "Yeah, I kinda did. Two things I've learned in the last twenty minutes: don't go up or down stairs with your eyes closed, and avoid telling girls that they've 'actually got breasts'. Kinda regrettable, heh," Rito smiled sheepishly. But one thing that Mikan knew about her brother was that he was always at the centre of events, and he was a magnet for these events. "I guess that's just your life, Onii-chan," Mikan replied in a sisterly manner.

"I'm gonna go to sleep now, Mikan. All that running today made me tired, sorry Mikan," Rito apologised as he headed off upstairs to his room. A pair of eyes (and tail) watched him as he climbed the stairs, ohhhh, I wanted to talk to Rito-san today- there's always tomorrow, although there's always talking to him in the bedroom…

Damn, he locked the door, Momo thought with disappointment as she walked away from the door leading to his room. Inside, Rito was unaware and sleeping… in the realm of dreams… Rito looked around himself, the scenery, everything… he took it all in. Somehow, even though this was a surreal realm, it was somehow familiar to him; a never-ending field before him and dark skies, and most chilling of all, a crimson red Moon. There was something very wrong about this place, Rito could tell; the juxtaposition of the red Moon and bright fields seemed very unnatural. After all, he had experienced some very strange events in his life, particularly in his two-year journey. But slowly, he saw something that made his blood freeze: a figure rising out of the fields, and this figure was the most frightening thing there. To Rito, this figure looked familiar but he could not place the exact identity. It was a girl, about his age, with long flowing blonde hair and a white dress; but there was more… Rito also noticed her pale skin, and her eyes… their red tinge that would draw in the common folk. Her smile… one filled with uncanny power and unholy motives… She walked closer and closer while he stood frozen to the spot; the fields suddenly rotting away, and turning into a sea of blood. What the hell… nah, this is sooo wrong… but who is she? This is definitely not the first time I've seen her; there is a strong aura of death around her, what is she? He suddenly woke up back in the real world as the dream thankfully ended; there truly are some dark things out there, man this is gotta end, he thought with a tired sigh. This mysterious person had haunted his dreams for quite a while; for Rito, she was truly unnerving. An incarnation of pure evil, surrounded by a façade of innocence- that's what it felt like for Rito. Oh well, let's go, the day doesn't wait for anyone, he thought as he got out of bed. In the waking world, he'd be fine, but in the dreams… those fears would come back…

Hey everyone. Hope you had a nice weekend (well last weekend). Here is the twenty-first chapter. As I was writing/typing this, the idea for the last paragraph just came, and I think it adds a nice new touch for the story. As always, thank you to my many viewers and dedicated readers. Read and review (if you want), and watch out in your nightmares… jokes. But hope you enjoy this chapter; I'll try and write another chapter this weekend so adios for now!
