Chapter 21

"T-talk about what?" Violet asked Rem nervously.

"I can't see your lifespan or name. Why is that? And do not lie to me. I know something is being hidden." The tall, shinigami said.

Violet gulped. "You wouldn't believe me."

Rem continued to look down on the girl. "Try me. I am a shinigami. I have seen many things happen throughout my time."

"Okay." Violet said. "I'm not from this world. Not that my world is any different. We just don't have supernatural species like you or the Death Note. Well I'm not even sure now since I saw Ryuk in my world before I came here."

"Yes, I thought Ryuk knew something from the way he would laugh when I would ask him." Rem said calmly.

"The thing is...you are all characters from a show, well an anime to be exact. I know it sounds crazy but it's true. So to put it bluntly, Yukiko and I got teleported to our favorite anime. We know everything that will happen." Violet explained.

"Interesting. I can see why you thought I wouldn't believe you. What happens since you know?" Rem asked.

Violet sighed knowing Rem only wanted to know about Misa. "Misa doesn't make it."

Rem narrowed her eyes. "Is it because of Light Yagami?"

"A little. At the end, Ryuk writes Light's name in the notebook because he gets caught. Misa finds out about Light's death and commits suicide."

Before Rem can say anything, Vi kept talking.

"But I have a plan, this way no one else dies. Light has already talked you into writing L's name when the time is right. All for Misa's "safety," but I know for a fact even if Light won, he would get rid of Misa. I have a way against that." She said.

"Go on." Rem told her.

"Just don't write L's name or let Light or Misa talk you into any other plan. Let me, and maybe Yukiko, handle it. I'll let you know if I need any help."

"Why should I trust you?" Rem asked.

Violet rolled her eyes. "Like I said, I know how this all ends. I don't want to see any more good people die. Even Misa. I do like her even though she can be hard to handle. It always made me upset to see her being played like a puppet by that bastard, Light. And I know you don't like him either."

"Okay." Rem said. "I believe you. I won't kill L. I'll come up with an excuse."

Violet grinned. "Good! If I need to talk to you again, I will hold out three fingers then you come to my room at night. Oh and...don't tell Yukiko about any of our discussions."

Rem slowly nodded. "Understood. Goodbye for now." She said and drifted away into the wall.

Violet sighed in relief. That was one thing off her checklist. Now she needs to come up with an actual plan.

There was a knock on her door. "Vyra-chan...are you okay in there?" L asked.

Vi quickly walked to the door and opened it. "Yeah sorry, I got distracted."

L peered his head in suspiciously. "Hmm I see. Okay well, I'll let you get your rest. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Ryu-chan!" Violet said and quickly closed the door.

Violet laid in her bed, staring at the dark ceiling while thinking.

'We had to be sent here for a reason. Since we know what happens, maybe we've been sent to save everyone. What about Yuki though? When she was mad, she said she'd help Light and I have a feeling deep down, she meant it. I'll have her help but keep back up plans for myself just in case.' Vi thought sleepily. 'I just don't want to fail and watch everyone die. I know the events so it's in my hands to make sure they don't happen.'

She gave one final yawn and fell asleep.

"Ryuzaki? Where is everyone?" Violet asked as she walked into the main room. She screamed when she saw L laying lifeless on the ground, his chair on the floor next to him.

"L?! L?!" She yelled as she turned him over and shook him. She put her ear to his chest and didn't hear a heartbeat. "NO! Please wake up!" She screamed as tears blurred her vision. Violet hugged his body close and cried into his chest.

"So he did end up dying still." Said a calm, female voice from behind her.

Violet turned around to see Yuki and Light standing next to each other.

"Good job, Yukiko. See we didn't need Rem. You knew his name all along." Light told Yuki.

"You killed him?!" Violet cried.

"Yes. You betrayed me. You were going to turn Light in. I thought we agreed that Light is kept safe too?" Yuki scowled.

"That's not true! I wasn't going to do that!" Violet yelled.

"Lier. Now thanks to you, everyone else will be leaving too." Light said evilly.

Suddenly, the rest of the Task Force appeared in the room. But something didn't feel right...they were all in some sort of trance.

Suddenly, Matsuda grabbed his chest in pain and fell to the ground. Mogi grabbed his gun and shot himself in the head. Aizawa slammed his head repeatedly into the wall until he fell dead. Ukita broke a window open and jumped out with Ide following behind.

Violet was screaming as she watched everyone die in front of her while Yuki and Light smiled in victory. "Your turn, now." Yuki said as she pulled out the Death Note.

"Goodbye, Violet." Light waved.

"Wait! STOP!" Violet begged. Then her eyes glazed over as she slowly stood up, dropping L's body that she was holding.

She grabbed Mogi's gun from his hand and pointed it right in the middle of her forehead. Then she pulled the trigger.

L rushed into Violet's room when he heard her screaming in her sleep.

"Vyra! It's okay! Just wake up!" He tried to tell her over her screams.

He tried to shake her awake and then suddenly she stopped screaming and grew limp.

L stopped shaking her and his eyes widened. "Vyra? Come on, wake up!" He said worriedly as his heart was racing.

He was about to go tell Watari to call for help when she finally woke up, but in a panic.

Violet was looking around frantically and gasping for breath. She was having a panic attack.

L has never witnessed something like this but he needed to calm her down. She looked so scared and he didn't like it. He grabbed a hold of her waist and set her on his lap. Vi's scared eyes locked with his and she tightly grabbed a hold of his shirt while still trying to control her breathing.

L lifted her chin up and slowly placed his lips on hers. Vi was still shaking, not fully aware of what was going on but L just kept gently kissing her until she calmed down.

After a few minutes, Vi finally came out of her attack and fully realized L was kissing her.

'Wait...L?! He's alive?! It wasn't real!'

Vi whimpered against his lips and started crying. L pulled away and looked at her sadly. He then laid her head against his chest and rubbed her back, soothingly. Vi listened to his heart beating and sighed in relief.

"It's okay. You're fine now." He told her quietly.

"Y-You died." She stuttered out through her tears. "Kira killed you and everyone else! Matsuda, Aizawa, Ide! Everyone! And I had to watch! Then Kira killed me!" She cried out while holding onto him tighter.

L mentally scowled at the thought of such a monster getting his hands on someone he cared about.

"It was only a nightmare. I won't let that happen to you." L said with determination.

Violet lifted her head up and looked at him. "Promise?"

L gave a small smile and wiped the tears off her cheeks. "I promise."

"And I won't let Kira get you." She told him back.

L smirked. "Promise?"

Vi smiled. "I promise."

L leaned his head down and placed his lips against hers again, except this time, Vi was able to kiss back. L kissed her so lovingly as if telling her that she was safe now and not to worry.

'So I guess I was in love.' He thought.
