CASSIDY'S POV

I came to, lying on a black sandy beach type thing. I slowly sat up, and there was a sharp pain in my chest. I tried to stand. I made it to my knees, but I fell back onto the sharp grains of sand. I cried out in pain. I took a few deeps breaths, and managed to sit up a bit. I looked around and saw, well it's hard to explain. I couldn't remember how I got there either. There was this, smog like stuff making my eyes water. Red. The whole place was red and black, well, from what I could see. I didn't want to rub my eyes with my hands, for fear of making it worse. I could see black water a few yards in front of me. I tried crawling towards it. I got there, eventually. I don't know how long it took me, but I knew it must have been a while. I reached out to touch the mysterious black water. I was so cold. So cold that it almost burned. I pulled my hand out and tried to warm it up. It was turning blue. I squinted my eyes, and I thought I could see the outline of something gliding along the water. As it got closer, I could see that it was a small boat. Something about this whole situation rang a bell, but I could't focus on it. Not very well, anyway. I tried to back up, but only using one hand, and having severe heatburn, made it diffucult. I felt clumsy. I decided to brace myself, in case I needed to...what? What could I do if I needed to move? Or attack? Nothing. I would be completely immobile. I grabbed my left hand, the one that was getting more purple-ish and tried to warm it up. Nothing really worked. The boat hit the sand and stopped. A man glided out. I think. I don't think I was seeing things very straight. My mind was fuzzy. The man approached me, and in a panic, I tried to back up. Bad idea. I bit my lip and closed my eyes. When I opened them, the man was right next to me. He held out his hand.

"W-Who are you?" I asked, my voice hoarse.

"I am Charon" he replied.

No. No way. That would mean... "I'm d-dead?"

He didn't say anything. Just held out his hand. But I knew what would happen if I took it. Well, I kind of knew. I knew that something bad would happen. I couldn't remember what though. I shook my head.

"I w-won't g-go with you" My teeth were chattering. I was so cold. And, not to mention, I could no longer feel my left hand. That worried me. He scowled at me, and told me that I had no choice.

"Everyone has a-a ch-choice."

"Fine, you will rot here like the other lost souls of the damned" He turned around and went back to his boat. Within seconds, he was gone. And did he say 'other'? I suddenly became aware of the moans in the distance. I frantically looked around. I could just barely make out the outline of other...creatures? I wasn't really sure what to call them. I was so scared that I didn't really matter. I again tried to stand. I got up on my feet, but only for a few seconds, before I feel to the ground. I couldn't move. Not without being in agonizing pain. The creatures came closer, and I could make out details on the closest ones. Skin peeling off, open wounds, and the smell. The smell was awful. I needed to throw up but there wasn't anything to throw up so I was just gagging. It was awful. Suddenly, I saw a flash of light, directly in front of me. It was only there for a split second, and then it disappeared. I blinked my eyes a few times. Because the light was extremely bright and the smog. I rubbed my eyes with my sleeve. That made it worse. My right eye was watering and I knew that rubbing it was not going to help. I had to close that eye, relying on just my left one. I noticed that the monsters were no where to be found. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I screamed. Whether it was because of the pain, or the situation, I have no idea. I screamed and started to sob. Hysterical sobs. I started choking, and I felt like I couldn't breathe. The tears streaming down from my right eye burned. The sand underneath me was more painful than ever. My right hand, the one supporting my weight, was being cut into. I brought it up, only to fall on my back, and have that scrapped up. I knew that this wasn't supposed to happen. My head was pounding. My chest hurt so much. I wish it would all just end. Suddenly the light was there again. This time with a voice. I coudln't really hear what it was saying, it was too muffled, and then it was gone. Although it lasted longer this time. I looked around me, trying to find help. But I knew it was point less. I closed my eyes, trying to breathe. I felt a weird presence. I slowly turned my head, which only caused more pain. If I had a nickel for everytime I screamed in pain, I'd have enough money to buy my soul back. I thought I felt a hand on my shoulder. I whipped my head around. Nope. Should not have done that. Another scream. I chose to ignore it. I tried my best to keep still, but the sobs that were racking my body made it difficult. Once more, the light appeared. This time a voice was clear

"Come back to me baby"
