"Do you know where we are?" Ronan asks standing up and looking at the signs around us.
"Its says Tokyo, can't you read it?" I ask him after looking around. Plus this will help me with understanding the rules of my travel at least.
"No, its all in some weird language." He says, starting to walk toward an alley. I follow him and pick up a map from a stand to see how far away we were. It looked like around forty miles after we got out of the city.
"Well, at least I can read it then. It looks like we have about forty miles to go before we hit Karakura. So lets get going, we still have our rations right?" I ask him as an afterthought leaning against the wall.
"Yes, but we will need to eat little to make it that far." He says looking up at me.
"I could fly us there with my mask on, but I would be drained afterwards. But I will say if we find a weak hollow, I could try to eat it, to gain strength anyway." I say starting to see images of gore dance across my mind. No, I can't think like this, but it would be so good to eat one wouldn't it? No.
"You could get us as far as you can, and I could carry you for a while, you're light enough." He says starting to sit himself.
Sirens sound in the distance, the local police would be looking for us thanks to some bystander who had to call us in. They sound like they are a couple blocks away, and based on the little traffic, would be here in seconds. I stand and motion him to as well. I put my mask on, not getting out of ghost mode, and carry him by the hand, flying straight through buildings going around thirty miles an hour at first then going almost three times as fast suddenly. The power surge came from nowhere but I was thankful for it.
After fifteen minutes I start to slow down and land next to a road. Ronan goes to pick me up, but I wave him off, standing up and starting to walk along side him.
"How far do you think we are?" I ask after thirty-ish minutes of walking.
"Can't be far now, you got us over halfway there at least. There's a road sign coming up, how about you tell me when we get to it?" He says with a small smile.
"Alright. But it looks like it says two more miles. So we aren't that far after all. I could carry us there, albeit I may pass out, but I could." I say already entering ghost mode.
"Yeah, lets hurry so we have a place to sleep tonight, suns going down." He says looking at the sky which was now a rich pink tinted orange in the west. I grab him by the shoulders after putting my mask on. I felt odd though, like I wanted to eat something very bad. I closed my eyes trying to shake the feeling and felt my head lowering. I opened my eyes to see my masks mouth was open somehow and right above Ronans' head. I Pull back and hear my mask click back into place. We are over the city and I smell a hollow, I don't know how I know it is one, but I feel it. Something inside me rages to go after it and I follow, Ronan under me thinks I know where I'm going by now since we crossed into the city, but I don't, I'm charging at the hollow.
I near the my prey, and drop Ronan on a building not far off and attack it with tooth and fist. It screams in pain and whines under my power trying to get away. I feel a primal urge in me to let it feel as much pain as possible, but my humane side, the small part of it that still exists, makes me finish it off as soon as I can. I bite down harder, feeling its power become my own. I set up and unleash a howl as I am the victor, and challenging any other to oppose me. I then feast and feel all the souls the hollow ate fuel me as it decays into that ashen mist. I grab at it trying to feed even more. Then another howl echos across the city. I hear its challenge and rush to answer it, hearing some human scream at me to stop, I ignore it, it will be my prey after I defeat this newcomer.
It is standing over its last kill, a small human spirit. Nothing to boast about. I rush it and go for its face, digging my teeth in, with the warm gush of blood entering my mouth. It claws at my stomach trying to bat me off, it can try but I'm a snake, and won't let go until its dead. It pulls at me then, and I feel an energy start to form in one of its hands. I look up to it and see a red orb in its palm, feeling danger I jump away as it unleashing it, which causes a deep gash to form in the earth where I had been hanging on. A mixture of rage and glee well up inside me because it had tried to harm me, and would have succeeded if I hadn't moved. A sphere of red appears in one of my hands as this feeling grows and I look at it, it is getting larger and more powerful, the perfect weapon. I hold my arm out at the beast and when it thinks about moving, I charge at it and get my hand at its lower back and let it go. The beast screeches in misery and I eat again. I start to feel full and step away from my kill, smiling happily as I walk away, leaving it to fade and vanish.
Remembering the human I go back to the area to search for it. It seems to still be there, it raises its arm in greeting, like I'm a friend. It's wrong, but something in the back of my head says otherwise. The hunger starts to fade to. I look down at my clothing and see the blood still there, starting to stain them. I look back up at the human, Ronan, the voice says. It all rushes back to me, how I am human. I reach over the side of the building and try to vomit, but nothing comes out. I am stronger, but I ate hollows. I look up and feel my mask disappear. And without realizing it was ever there, so does the armor that covered my arms. I start to turn to Ronan, who is already beside me, catching me from falling off the building. We stand in silence before someone appears at the far side of the roof.
"What are you?" Ichigo asks pulling his sword off his back staring me down, with an intent to kill.
"Ichigo, hows Conrad?" I ask before blacking out in Ronans arms. Yes, sounds odd, but it happened.
