Chapter 20: Trap.
Normal P.O.V
They reached the Sin Cleaner's territory. From their guild separated them only a huge clearing peppered with many higher places. Really unsteady ground to fight. It wasn't comfortable place to fight, so they wanted to deal with it inside the guild.
They spotted Bruno with other of his 'guild mates' at the opposite side of the clearing. They laughed, ate and drank with no care in the world. Attached to Bruno's belt were Lucy's- the main goal of Natsu.
Fairy Tail's mages stepped on the clearing, when fire shoot in direction of their opponents. Everyone looked at Natsu, but fire came from above of them. Looking up, they saw few flying creatures. They attacked dark mages with fire.
-It's hell flame.- Whispered Natsu.- everyone step back, it's hell flame!- He shouted to his nakama. Everyone stopped at his command and kept looking what was happening at the end of the clearing. Dark mages let out a painful cry, disappearing in the flames.
The attacker landed in the center of the clearing, not noticing Fairy Tail's mages. But wizards easily recognized Lucy being one of the attackers.
When the flames extinguished, they saw… Verchiel's Powers which stood behind Bruno. One of the angels made a sharp gesture with his hand and Bruno's body fell to the ground. He was dead.
"That's why I couldn't see his future! He was dead all along!" Lucy thought. "But.. for what did they do that?", she looked around and to her horror, she spotted her ex-guild mates.
-What are you doing here?!- She shouted appearing in front of them in a glimpse.
-They disrespected our guild, using your keys- Said Makarov.
She looked like she wanted to say something more but decided not to. That wasn't good. They shouldn't be here, their mission will be more complicated if it wasn't already hard.
The clearing filled from both sides. More Powers with Verchiel stood opposite to Creator's army.
Beside Lucy stood Aaron and other man-Camael, Aaron's mentor.
From the forest came other Walkers and then other Nephilims.
Lucy muttered something and Aaron went to Nephilims and gave them some orders.
Natsu P.O.V
Nephilims started circling us, they closed the circle trapping us inside. Nephilims stood with their backs to us, holding hands.
-Aaron! What's happening?!- I shouted nearing him.
-It's the last battle. Stay here and don't cause anymore troubles.
-Let us out! We can go back to Magnolia or fight with you all.- I shouted at him.
-No can do. They would go after you. We can't take the risk of losing control of the battle. You can't fight, you'll be killed and you know it.- I closed my mouth at loss of words.- Do it for my mother, Natsu.- He added and went back to first front.
Normal P.O.V
You have a bunch of monkey soldiers. You have the chance to give up and be at our mercy.- Shouted Verchiel.
-We could say the same thing to you.- Lucy answered.
Verchiel gritted his teeth and took a look at his enemies.
-Cheaters, their offspring and monkeys. It's a stain on my honor to fight something like that.- He spited.
-You are pretty full of yourself in the face of your defeat.- Lucy laughed.
-You betrayed our God! We won't show you mercy for that!- He shouted summoning his sword.
-The 'God' you are talking about was the one betrayed by one of your kind!
-Attack!- Cried Verchiel and hell began.
Battle cries, yells of pain and smell of burned bodies filled the air. The chance for both sides were equal, but Lucy's fighters were less injured. They fought with determination and smartly, while Powers charged forward, furiously swinging their weapons around blindly.
Fairy Tail's wizards looked in awe at the battle that displayed in front of them. Some as Natsu, Gray, Elfman, Cana, Laki and Gajeel fisted their palms ready to jump in the action, but the living wall of Nephilims, Erza and Master cautious looks blocked them.
Suddenly a loud roars resounded through the forest and seconds later a pack of werewolves larger than a horses appeared on the clearing jumping at the Powers.
As soon as they jumped into the action Nephilims that guarded them started some battle cry and that activated the a magic barrier around them, but it didn't blocked the sounds of the war in front of them.
Natsu P.O.V.
That battle was a mess. The clearing overflowed with blood and ashes of the killed. Suddenly a body dropped from above but was stopped as if it fell on an invisible roof. Then a werewolf jumped on it and sunk its teeth which were surrounded by hell flame in its prey. Power's body reduced to ashes and werewolf ran off to find next prey.
I spotted Lucy, who fought with four Powers at once. She used water, earth and wind to fight them before ending their lives with hell flame. But more Powers came at her, I knew from her movements that she was slightly disorientated.
Then I saw Verchiel coming at her, although he fought a werewolf I knew better what he is going to do. The next thing I know I am out of the barrier hearing shouts form my nakama, but I could care less, I could only concentrate on saving Lucy.
She stood with her back to me and approaching Verchiel , finishing the last Power, other didn't come- I knew it was a trap. Verchiel was near when I jumped in front of him, but stepped on the inequality and lost my balance. I stumbled and turned around to see Lucy doing the same, when a blade was pressed against my throat and my hands were twisted behind my back.
I heard a sick laugh.- Right into my trap.
I froze. Damn, I messed up- for the first time my instincts made things from bad to horribly-terribly BAD.
-I knew he would come to you our observer did a great job.- He hissed, I tried to break out of his grip, but suddenly I felt really weak. I figured out that he put some kind of spell to do that. I couldn't even summon my fire!
-Let him go.- She said.
-I'll. He will die whit the rest later, thought. I'll let him go, but you'll come in his place.- He said and my eyes widened.
He wanted to exchange- I'll be free, but Lucy'll be killed instead. I took a look at the war. Aaron along with his mentor fought Powers and some Wyvern like creature. The others- I assume- Walkers did a pretty good job as well, but the first signs of tiredness started to show. In other words they were starting to lose. And if Lucy was going to get killed… everything would end.
I looked at Lucy, I think she had the same thoughts as me. She looked back at us and I heard a single heartbeat.
