Guest, I can use your first idea, but your second one I can't. Since this story is rated K I'm limited on what I can write about. Sorry about that. And ShyMusic, Cara has brown hair and hazel eyes. I don't know if I ever wrote that she had blond and blue eyes. I skimmed over the chapters and I don't think I ever wrote that. Maybe I did and I didn't see it. If I did, it is wrong. Sorry about that little mess up :)
This one-shot is based off of the idea of DylanCow123. Hope you enjoy!
Cara's pov:
"Cara" I hear my mom call from downstairs in the living room, "Can you come here for a moment?"
"Sure thing mom" I reply as I hop off of my bed and walk out of my room. I then trot down the stairs and walk into the living room to see my mom sitting down on the couch. "Yes mom?" She looks up at me.
"Honey" she started, "I just got off the phone with Donald Davenport and he informed me that Adam got hurt while completing his mission earlier today." My eyes widen.
"What? Is he ok?"
"He's fine honey. He just has a broken leg, wrist and a slight concussion."
"Mom that's not fine!"
"Donald asked me over the phone if Adam could stay over here and rest for a couple of days. Apparently they were planning on going to Florida for a couple of days to visit family and he doesn't want Adam to stay at home alone."
"What'd you tell Mr. Davenport mom?" I eagerly ask, "Please say that you said it was ok for Adam to stay over here." My mom nodded.
"Yes I did" she replied, "It's fine with me and I'm sure it will be fine with your father too. He can just stay down here on the couch." My mom then frowned, "Hmm I wonder what bionic people eat. Do they eat normal food? Or do they eat metal?" I sigh.
"Mom, Adam's not a robot" I remind her, "He's a human just like us. He just has a bionic chip that gives him superpowers."
"Oh ok I was just making sure." She stands up from the couch and starts to walk upstairs, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go find some extra blankets and pillows for our guest." I silently cheered to myself. I feel bad that Adam's hurt, but now since he's going to be staying over here for weekend we can spend more time together.
The next day at four o'clock in the morning, the house doorbell rang. My dad and I answered it to see Adam and his dad at the door. The rest of the family was waiting in the car. Adam was on crutches and I spy the cast on his leg and wrist. Mr. Davenport had a suitcase in his hand along with a small bag in his other.
"Hello Donald" my father said as he welcomed them into the house, "Come on in."
"Hey Tim" Mr. Davenport said as we all walked into the living room; "Thanks for letting him stay here. So sorry for the late notice. My wife wanted to visit her cousin down in Florida and it was all planned out so I couldn't cancel the trip and-"
"It's perfectly fine" dad replied. As soon as Adam sat down on the couch, he looked up and smiled at me.
"Hey Cara" Adam said.
"Hey" I reply. Mr. Davenport looked over at me and waved. I wave back. Mr. Davenport hands my dad a bag and a piece of paper.
"In the bag is Adam's medicine" he told my father, "and the paper tells how much he should take a day. The paper also tells how much rest I think he should get a day." He looks at Adam, "Adam I expect you to be resting most of the time you're over here." Adam nods. "And also, no bionics." Adam groaned.
"But-"
"Adam…"
"Fine."
"Uh I think I better leave this in the kitchen for my wife" Dad said looking down at the bag, "She's asleep upstairs. She's better at giving medicine out to kids than I am." Mr. Davenport nods.
"Thanks Tim." Mr. Davenport puts Adam's suitcase down and starts to walk out of the house, "Bye Adam. I'll be back to pick you up in a couple of days."
"Bye" Adam said. I walked Mr. Davenport to the door and let him out while waving to the rest of the family in the car. After I make sure Mr. Davenport made it safely to his car, I shut the house door and locked it. I walked back into the living room.
"Ok honey" dad says walking out of the kitchen, "I'm about to head back to bed; you should too."
"But Dad" I reply, "I wanted to talk to Adam."
"Adam needs to rest too. You can talk to him in the morning."
"Technically it is the morning."
"Cara…." I sigh.
"Fine." I look down at Adam, "Goodnight Adam."
"Technically it's good morning" Adam teased, smirking. I frown.
"You know what I mean Adam." He laughed.
"Alright goodnight Cara." I walk alongside my dad as we go upstairs and go back to sleep.
Two and a half hours later I get up and go back downstairs.
"Adam" I call out, walking into the living room, "Are you awake?"
"Yup" I hear him answer. When I get into the living room, I see Adam sitting up against the couch looking down at his phone. My eyes widen a little in surprise.
"Adam, how long have you been looking down at your phone?"
"Uh…ever since you went upstairs I think." I shake my head as I snatch the phone out of his hands and place it in my pocket.
"Hey what are you doing?"
"When you have a concussion you shouldn't use things that require mental concentration."
"A game on my phone doesn't require mental concentration."
"Yes it does."
"Ok maybe it does, but it's not going to hurt me if a play one little video game for a little while."
"Adam, you've been playing it for almost three hours now. You should be resting."
"But I have to get to level one hundred on Crash Monkeys."
"Not with a concussion you don't." Adam frowns.
"Cara" he starts to explain, "It's only a slight concussion."
"A concussion's a concussion." I plop down on the couch beside him. "What'd you do to get hurt like this anyway?"
"I jumped out of a window from the second floor of a building and landed on my wrist and leg. Plus I hit my head." Ouch.
"I'm sorry. All that superhero stuff you do can be really dangerous at times." Adam nods. "Yup but it's worth it in the end to know that I save millions of lives." I nod. I hear Adam's stomach growl.
"Are you hungry?" I ask him.
"Yeah kinda." I stand up from the couch.
"I guess I can make some pancakes….." Adam's eyes light up.
"Really?" I nod. "Thanks Cara." To be honest I hate making pancakes because they take too long to make, but I guess I can make them since Adam wants them. After all, he is hurt and I did take his phone away from him.
"I'll be right back with some pancakes. I expect you to be resting while I'm making them." I walk into the kitchen and prepare to make breakfast.
Well, after about thirty minutes I successfully make twelve pancakes. Well actually I successfully made ten pancakes. Two I flipped too high from the pan and now they are stuck on the ceiling. Hopefully my parents won't look at up when they come in here. I separate the pancakes onto two plates so there are five cakes for me and five for Adam. I feel bad that I didn't make any for my parents but hey, it was hard enough to make just ten. I put the two plates on a tray and sprinkle syrup and butter over top of the pancakes.
"Hey Cara do you need help?" I turn to see Adam standing in the doorway of the kitchen.
"Adam" I cry, "go back in the living room! You're not supposed to be up!"
"Cara I'm fine I was just coming to try and help-"
"Adam, go back to the couch." He smiles childishly and walks back over to the couch. I pull out two cups, pour some juice into them and put them on the tray. I then pick up the tray and carry it into the living room. I place the tray on the coffee table and plop down on the couch next to Adam, who is looking at the tray.
"Wow Cara" he replies, "This looks delicious."
"Well don't expect it to taste the same way" I mumble, "I'm not that good of a cook." He laughs, but stops immediately as he hisses in pain and puts a hand on his forehead. "Adam are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine. I just got a little pain in my head." I push him down on the couch.
"Maybe you should lie down for a while Adam" I tell him. I stand up from the couch and pull his legs up onto the part where I was sitting.
"Maybe I should…" Wow, that's a first I heard from Adam. He never wants to rest. That concussion must be really getting to him. I pull up a chair and sit beside the couch.
"Do you want to eat later?" I ask. He shakes his head.
"No I'm fine. I can eat now. I might as well." I grab his plate off of the tray.
"Here I'll feed it to you."
"Are you sure?" I nod as I put a forkful of pancake up to Adam's mouth, "Here, open wide." Adam opens his mouth and I feed the pancakes to him. "Thanks Cara."
"You're welcome." I continue to feed breakfast to him until there's nothing left to feed him.
The next few days came by fairly quick. Adam's been sleeping and watching a little bit of T.V while he's been over here. I've been taking care of him for the most part. Sometimes I would have to leave Adam in the care of my mom, because I had to go work at the ice cream shop. Hopefully my mom wasn't too over caring with Adam. She starts treating my brothers and I like babies if we get hurt or sick. She even treats my dad like that if he's sick. I guess it's just a mother thing. Anyways I'm really tuckered out from taking care of Adam and going to work. I haven't really slept that well for the past three days but I guess I'll be fine. I'll catch up on sleep once Adam leaves.
Right now while Adam was sleeping I was quietly reading a fashion magazine. My dad had gone to the movies with some of his old friends from high school and my mom was talking to her friend on the phone in the kitchen.
"Cara" I hear my mom shout from the kitchen, "Your boyfriend needs to take his medicine. Can you give it to him?"
"Sure mom. " I walk into the kitchen and my mom hands me the medicine container, "Just give him a spoonful alright?" I nod as I walk out of the kitchen. My mom continues to talk to her friend on the phone.
"Adam" I whisper in his ear as I shake his shoulders, "Adam wake up.."
"No Tasha…" Adam groggily answers, "I don't wanna go to school…"
"Adam it's not Tasha, its Cara. You need to get up to take your medicine." Adam slowly opens his eyes. "Adam I have to give you your medicine." He groans.
"Do I have to?" Adam asks in the whiniest voice.
"Yes you have to." I help him sit up.
"It's not like the medicine is making things better" Adam muttered. I slug him in the shoulders. "Ow"
"Open wide" I say as I pour some medicine into the spoon I'm holding. He obeys and he gulps down his medicine.
"Yuck this is disgusting" he replies. I giggle.
"It's supposed to be icky." I sit on the chair beside the couch again.
"Cara, thanks for taking care of me. I really appreciate it."
"No problem. It's no trouble."
"I know sometimes I can be a bit of a pain…"
"A bit?"
"Ok a lot of one." I smile and put my head on his shoulder. "Anyway, I just wanted to say that I've had a nice time staying with you and your family for the last three days."
"I'm glad you had a nice time."
"Yeah everything about staying here was great; expect for that one time your mom asked me if I ate screws and nails." I roll my eyes.
"Sorry about that. I keep telling my mother that you're not a robot and that you're a human just like she is." Adam chuckles.
"She offered me a 'nail sandwich' yesterday. What's a nail sandwich?" I laugh and shrug.
"Oh mothers and they're weird minds." I then yawn. Adam looks at me with concern.
"Cara, are you tired?" I shake my head. I actually was, but I didn't want to sleep right now.
"No I'm not tired Adam." Of course, I yawn again.
"I think you are. You look tired. You have big bags under your eyes." I sigh.
"Ok fine I am kind of tired. I guess taking care of you for the past couple of days and working kind of wore me out." Adam stands up and pulls me up with him.
"I think you need to rest now." I yawn again.
"But-"
"No buts. You're tired and your body needs to rest."
"Ok. I guess you're right." He leads me upstairs to my bedroom. I slowly lay down on my bed as Adam tucks the covers over me.
"Night Cara" he says.
"Technically it's good morning" I tease.
"You know what I mean." He starts to exit the room, "Night Cara. I'll be in the living room 'resting'."
"You better be resting." I smile, "Night Adee." He turns the light off and exits the room. I yawn once more before I close my eyes and fall fast asleep.
Sorry if it was a little rushed. Hope you liked it. What'd you think? Hopefully I can update soon, but no promises. Btw if you didn't know, the story I was talking about earlier where it was going to be about Adam and Cara is published. It's called "Blurred Vision" so feel free to check out the first chapter if you haven't already. Make sure to leave a review for me and catch you next chapter!
