After Skuld had calmed down enough to keep her composure, the group had taken a break to let her drink some water and then eat some ice cream to further calm her down.

"So let's watch a continuation of something that we watched. One that will end on a happier note," Lind said. ' I hope...'

"Yeah, let's watch a continuation of 'What if Lind was assigned by mistake to the Goddess Relief Office in her youth while someone else took her place in Valkyrie training?' That one was pretty peaceful," Urd said. Skuld and Chrono nodded, while Lind slightly grimaced, as she had found that video a bit embarrassing.

The TV went fuzzy for a few seconds before showing an image.

Lind had spent about two days so far with Castile. Castile had mostly put Lind through some basic training, both in magic and physical stuff. Lind had wondered why they were doing something like that, but Castile's response was that Lind had quite a bit of pent up energy and needed a way to vent it.

In a fairly pleasant meadow that was the training ground that Castile liked to go to...

Lind was sitting on the ground and was doing her best to meditate with her eyes closed, but the accursed noise kept bothering her. Castile had ordered her to meditate and to ignore all distractions, except those that came into contact with her.

'Please let there be only a few seconds more for meditation...' I am reaching my limit for this poorly played song... Lind thought, as Castile continued to play 'When the saints marching in' on a kazoo.

To Lind's irritation, Castile stopped over so often, so that Lind could think that Castile was done, only for the kazoo to start again.

"...And we're done," Castile said. Lind opened her eyes and glared at Castile. "What?"

"Why the Kazoo?" Lind asked, glaring at both the kazoo and Castile.

"Because I like it and it's fairly harmless, That's why," Castile replied, tossing the kazoo up in the air and catching it a few times.

"I have a request," Lind asked, as she stood up.

"What?" Castile asked. She had stopped tossing the kazoo and was holding it, as she felt she wouldn't like Lind's question.

"Can I smash the kazoo?" Lind asked as she pointed at the kazoo. Castile let out a small sigh, as her gut feeling was right.

"No," Castile answered, as she made the kazoo disappear. "So now that you meditated a bit, let's start the next lesson."

"And what will that be?" Lind asked, a bit annoyed that she couldn't destroy the annoying kazoo.

"I'll need to see your skill at healing spells and restoration spells. There's always a few spots around here that get overlooked after a big old brawl..." Castile replied, as she started to walk away. Lind followed after her.

"Oh...Kay..." Lind muttered, as memories of her last couple of tries with the restoration spell came to her.

After accidentally smashing a training spear, Lind tried a restoration spell. Somehow, it turned into a fishing pole. The second attempt wound up with it becoming a pool cue. The third would up being an umbrella. Lind would have tried another attempt, but the trainer stopped her and had asked Lind what was going on. Lind nervously told the tutor that she had broken a training spear and was trying to fix it. Thankfully, the tutor was kind enough to understand.

A few days later, Lind decided to practice the restoration spell. She broke a smooth round rock and tried the spell again. The rock become spiky. Lind smashed it and tried the spell again. The rock become a cube. The third try wound up as a pyramid. The fourth... well, it was in the shape of something that a young goddess shouldn't be seeing. After using a magic missile spell to smash the rock, Lind decided to take a break with the restoration spell. For as long as possible.

Some time later...

"Well... I give you points for reshaping the stone into Mobius strip," Castile said, trying to cheer Lind up.

"I was trying to put it back to how it was before..." Lind pouted.

"Well... I hate to go with a saying or two that's older than time, but try again and practice makes perfect, yadda yadda..." Castile said, handing the mobius strip sculpture over to Lind.

Lind smashed the sculpture and tried the spell again. This time, it wound up being a a stone klein bottle.

"Huh..." Castile muttered as she took a closer look at the stone.. "Probably could get a decent job in artistry..."

Somehow, that comment irritated Lind.

"I want to be a Valkyrie! Not an artist! Not a Wish granter! I want to be a Valkyrie!" Lind shouted, stomping and waving her arms for emphasis.

Castile looked at Lind with a bored look.

"I overdid it with the Kazoo, I take it?"Castile asked, as she used a spell to put the stone away somewhere safe.

Lind glared at her. To her surprise, Castile summoned two wooden staffs.

"Let's deal with that aggression with a good old training match!" Castile said, tossing a staff to Lind, who caught it.

Lind had an evil smile as she asked, "Fine with me. Shall we begin?"

"Yes. Let's go!" Castile said.

The match for quite a few minutes was a series of quick strikes and dodges, more for gauging the other's skill and ability. After felt she hada good idea of Castile's skill, Lind tried a mfew strikes that would have knocked Castile down, But Castile either dodged them or countered them. When the latter happened, Lind was barely able to dodge Castile's counterattack. After about the tenth time, Castile began to attack faster and faster, without the use of a booster spell. Lind was barely able to block the strikes as they came. Eventually, Lind was forced to back away from Castile, as the latter continued her assault. When Lind came into contact with a tree and had blocked a strike that was aimed at her head, Castile stopped for a moment.

"Still want to continue or shall we take a break before I tell you my opinion of you?" Castile asked, refusing to move.

"I'll never give up..." Lind replied, trying her best to sound threatening.

Castile quickly used a sleep spell to knock out Lind. When Lind closed her eyes and began to slide down the side of the tree, Castile grabbed her and placed her on the ground. She sat beside Lind and waited for her to wake up. It took about 25 minutes.

"Huh? What happened?" Lind asked, as she rubbed her eyes as she was waking up.

"You refused to take a break, so I decided it was nap time," Castile answered, as she stood up.

"Wha... Castile! That was a dirty trick!" Lind shouted as she stood up as well.

"How so?" Castile asked, tilting her head a bit.

"A sleep spell is against the rules!" Lind shouted as she stomped a little bit.

"Not to my knowledge. We never spoke of what was allowed and what was not. We merely agreed to a training match," Castile responded. "In either the Valkyries or the wish granting division, wording is important, VERY important."

Lind grinded her teeth a little bit before muttered, " I apologize for my outburst."

"I accept your apology. Now, for my thoughts on you so far. It'd be a waste of skill of you to not be in the Valkyries, but you could stand to have a bit more compassion and patience, as well as acceptance. Your attitude would become your worst enemy in the Valkyries," Castile said.

Lind blinked for a few seconds.

"...Huh... I thought you'd try to talk me into giving the Wishgranting division a try..." Lind muttered, looking away in a bit of shame.

"You're a brat with her heart focused on joining the Valkyries. It'd go in one ear and out the other," Castile said, angering Lind again.

"Permission to speak my mind," Lind asked, as she narrowed her eyes.

"Granted," Castile answered.

"You have an attitude, you clearly don't seem like the type to teach, and I suspect you don't like me at all," Lind replied.

Castile seemed to chuckled a little bit before rubbing the back of her head.

"Yeah... I guess I do have a bit of an attitude. As for teaching... Well, I guess I'm out of sorts with teaching... As for if I like you or not, Can't really say. We just met today and we both might simply be having a bad day," Castile said, before a ringing noise was heard. Castile took out a cellphone.

"Castile here."

"..."

"Checking a few things about a young goddess. "

"..."

"I'm not sure... I'll ask to be on the safe side," Castile covered a part of the cellphone and looked at Lind. "Hey, wanna see how a wish is granted?"

Lind shrugged. On one hand, Lind didn't want go. On the other had, it was important enough that it interrupted a training session, so who knows? Castile was still looking at her for a proper answer. Lind sighed before nodding. Castile went back to talking on her cellphone

"Yeah, she doesn't mind," Castile said. She hanged up the phone and put it away.

"The wish is in one of the dimensions where the inhabitants are somewhat in a medieval setting, so we don't have to make some big show of magic to get them to believe us," Castile explained as she and Lind were leaving the training ground. "And before you make a big stink about wanting to be a Valkyrie, there will be some missions where you will need to observe quietly and and undetected. You know a stealth spell?"

Lind shook her head no and felt a bit embarrassed.

"Since we're going to meet non-magic using mortal, I'll teach you the basic one. It won't work at all against anything with a pinch of magic, though..." Castile said. "Now, remember these gestures and use only a small bit of magic..."

-oOo-

Lind and Castile appeared in a forest.

"The client is a few miles in this direction. Remember to up up the stealth spell," Castile said, looking in a direction. Lind noted that there was a slight shift in Castile's actions. Back in Heaven, she seemed very irresponsible. Here, while still seeming just as irresponsible, it seemed more of an act. Her body movement seemed like she was expecting a demon to pop out of somewhere. Regardless, Lind cast the stealth spell on herself. Castile flew as fast as she could in the direction where she had been looking at. Lind was following but Castile seemed to speed up whenever Lind started to get too close.

Eventually, the two reached someone praying by grove in the forest. They appeared to be a male teenager, dressed in clothes that seemed to never have been washed. They also seemed like they hadn't eaten well for months.

"Who... Who are you?" The guy asked.

"I am Castile and I am here to grant your wish," Castile said as she bowed.

The guy was about to say something else, but his stomach growled. He looked down at his belly and sighed.

"Very well. I wish for something for me and my village to eat, so we don't starve to death," The guy asked.

Castile clapped her hands twice and a large bag appeared by the guy. She also walked over and touched him on the forehead.

"There, The bag contains several more bags, each holding different seeds for future crops and you now have a better knowledge of both farming and fishing. In a day or two, start fishing using the techniques you now learned," Castile said, as she and Lind watched the guy look through the bag.

"T-Thank you! This means so much! How ever can I repay you?" The guy asked with a smile on his face.

"Merely live in peace," Casile said, as she began to walk away. The guy looked at Castile for a few moments, before picking up the bag and heading back to his villiage.

Once both Castile and Lind were back at the place where they first entered the forest, Lind disabled the stealth spell.

"You over-delivered on his wish..." Lind accusingly said, narrowing her eyes at Castile. Castile seemed... to be reliving a memory in her head as she looked up at the skies and sighed. After a few minutes of silence, Lind started to worry.

"You never dealt with starvation, have you?" Castile asked.

"We're goddesses. We don't need to eat," Lind replied as she put her hands on her hips. "What are you getting at?"

"True, but most, if not all mortal beings need to eat. I've seen worse situations than the one that my client was going through, so I'm entitled to go above and beyond for the wish. Besides, he did ask that his village not starve to death," Castile said, as she sent the signal for Gate to open up.

"Honestly, that seems like a rather poor reason for what you did," Lind grumbled as she and Castile were flying back to Heaven.

"Then complain through the proper channels about what I did," Castile said, with annoyance in her tone.

"Why bother? You'll probably block it," Lind muttered, as she and Castile reached Heaven.

"I can't and I won't.," Castile said. She stretched for a little bit before saying, "I'll meet you at our trainig grounds in an hour. Have fun until then.

Castile then began to walk away. Lind decided to go send in a complaint before heading back to the training ground.

The screen went blank.

"Well, That honestly seemed like either filler for a TV show or a very rocky beginning for a series," Urd said.

"I kinda agree with Urd, but I also think it could have gone a lot better..." Skuld said, as she was eating her ice cream. She looked like she was pretty much back to normal.

"Mistress Lind, did what we watched happened to you?" Chrono asked as she looked at her master.

"No, it didn't. It felt odd to watch it, though," Lind replied.

"Odd how?" Chrono asked, tilting her head a little.

"I was more easily angered back then. While I could see myself taking the same actions, I also could see myself having a bit more patience. Perhaps if we were able to see what had happened on the firsr day of training, it might be a bit more understandible," Lind explained.

-oOo-

At the arcade...

"Can't believe I'm agreeing with Urd..." Mara muttered.

"Me as well,, But I also think the video was something that one would watch on a rainy day, when one has exhausted all other options for the day, and probably for a younger audience," Hild said. Looking over at where Mokkurkalfi was working, Hild guessed it might take another hour or two before the inventor was done.

Author's notes: Well, about midway though the chapter, I realized that the 'Lind the trainee wishgranter' story is taking a turn where I'm not the best person to write it. It's starting to require someone who has experience with 'coming of age' prequel fics with a mostly female cast. So, I don't think I'll be writing another chapter to Lind the wishgranter. If someone wants to adopt the story, PM me and we'll talk.
