Chapter 21

-6 months later-

"Karma, we've checked the bags like fifty times, you haven't forgot anything" Amy sat in the car as she watched Karma run back into her house, already having three large suitcases in the back, Karma insisted on bringing another. Amy started to beep the horn repeatedly until Karma came running back out and jumped into the car, throwing her bag onto the back seat.

"Okay, okay I'm done" Karma grinned at her girlfriend, putting their hands together on Amy's knee and entangled their fingers. Amy started the car and Karma got out the sandwiches she had made before Amy came to pick her up, along with a packet of chips and a diet coke each. "Road trip!" Amy and Karma had been signed up for the SAC annual camping trip that involved training and meeting other members from around the world, they were all acquired to sleep in a tent and were not allowed to bring any technology with them, it was to be a month packed full of adventure and wilderness. Or so the brochure read, and believe me, Karma had read over that brochure at least fifty times.

"So tell me again why you brought three suitcases?" Amy smirked

"One is for all of my things, the second is the stuff to go inside our tent and the third is essentials for camping! I have been camping with Mom and Dad plenty of times and I know what we need to bring, trust me, I'm an expert" Karma grinned again, rummaging through her bag and pulling out two chocolate bars "I also brought plenty of food for when we get sick of camp fire food"

"Perfect. One year, I was sick so many times, and I was sick all over myself at the campfire so they had to take me home early and since then I've never lived it down" Amy cringed at herself "Wait until you meet some of the girls, they're so cool, I usually hang with my friend from Australia, Reagan, you'll like her a lot" Karma let out a squeal of excitement and turned her head to look out of the window, watching the trees fly past. They carried on driving for over six hours before pulling up at a gas station, refilling the tank and driving for another eight, it was just past 10 pm by the time they arrived at the camp site, and they pulled their car up and got their bags out, hauling them over to the welcome desk.

"Amy!" The old woman at the desk exclaimed, making her way around and wrapping her arms around her "And...you must be Karma, I have heard so much about you"

"Hi Sandy! I've missed you! Sorry were so late, is everyone in their tents already?" Amy asked, looking through the book of people who had signed in, seeing which of her friends were here this year.

"Of course not! They're all down by the hall greeting each other again, if you go down there now you wont miss anyone! We'll help you pitch your tent later, now go see your friends" Sandy smiled and ushered them out "Leave your bags here, come back to get them later"

"Thanks Sandy, see you later!" They shouted back and Karma grabbed Amy's hand as they walked to the hall

"Do I look okay? I've been in the car for 14 hours, I cant meet all your old friends looking like a homeless person-" Karma's heart began to speed up and she found her whole face getting hot in nervousness.

"First of all, you did your makeup like ten minutes ago. Second, no one in there will care what you look like. Third, you look gorgeous" Amy smiled, and Karma nodded, squeezing at Amy's hand before they opened the door to the hall. There were around thirty people in the room, all of them spread around the room, mingling and chatting, the room was incredibly loud and Amy was already recognised by at least two-thirds of the room.

"Raudenfeld!" One black haired girl shouted, wrapping her arms around Amy "Didn't think you were coming this year"

"Carm! Of course I'd come, couldn't miss this" Amy grinned "Oh! This is my girlfriend, Karma" Karma stood forward shyly, smiling and Carmilla smirked up at her, holding up her hand and kissing it gently

"Nice to meet you, Cupcake" She winked, before getting called back by one of her friends

"She seems...nice" Karma looked unsure at Amy

"She's cool, just takes some getting used to, she used to be worse before she got a girlfriend, trust me"

"Like you then" Karma joked, nudging Amy's shoulder "Now, where is this Reagan you were talking about?"

"...Shrimp girl?" The girls heard behind them and turned around to be met by a black haired girl, with purple streaks through it and her hair pulled back in a tight pony.

"Reagan!" Amy grinned and jumped into the girl, wrapping her arms around her "I've missed you!"

"Hi Reagan, I'm Karma! Amy has told me a lot about you!" Karma smiled and Reagan brought her in for hug

"I hope she hasn't told you too much about us" Reagan winked at the blonde and Amy blushed, her eyes widened and she slightly shook her head at her old friend "Me, about me" She laughed uncomfortably and Karma gave a quick look to Amy

"So...when's the campfire?!" Amy changed the subject

"In about ten minutes! Talk to you both soon?" Reagan asked and they both nodded and watched as she disappeared into the crowd

"What was that about?" Karma asked, pulling Amy's arm and she shrugged, before they were luckily distracted by Amy's father who handed them two glasses of champagne

"Hello girls! Me and the other men have just set up your tent, your bags are in there and I noticed you've brought food so we've put it in the kitchens. Rule number one of camping is no food in the tent, I don't want to have to pick up your remains after a bears gotten to you, okay?" He sternly said and the girls gulped and nodded before he walked away

"I'm still terrified of your father" Karma giggled "I thought he was going to send us to bed with no supper" The girls giggled and followed the crowd as they moved outside and took seats around the campfire, the cliché hippy with the guitar sat by them playing his guitar, Kevin was not a SAC member and was busted for growing cannabis, but because they loved his music so much, they let him stay and play for them to make up for his crime. After a while, Amy's eyes began to droop as she watched the flickering flames so they took themselves off to their tent, cuddling up to each other and looking forward to the following days. Little did they know that in three days, one of them would go missing.

...
