Summoner 101: Lesson 21
Demon power exists like air in the demon world. Many researches on this substance are done, but its origins is unknown to humans as of the moment.
Kuroko took a deep breath. He felt comfortable. This cloud of pure demon power is so familiar.
It was like that power that he also could produce. Yes, he could also produce demon power, though not as pure as the one that Akashi Seijuro, the first demon king, produces.
Kuroko frowned. That was a long time ago, when he was still in the demon world. Now, he passed the task to Mayuzumi Chihiro, who could produce demon power to the same extent as he could.
He tried to absorb as much demon power as he could, trying to help Mayuzumi quell the foreign aura from existing in the human environment. He knew that such an act could blow the impact of usage of his abilities into epic proportions, but he pushed that thought at the back of his mind. He has to find his master, Akashi Seijuro.
He really doesn't care if the first demon king and his summoner is one and the same. Even if the first demon king suddenly left the demon world, what matters to Kuroko now is to find his current master safe.
The demon with light blue hair and eyes glided up the stairs, using his shadows like waves and surfing easily over them. Even with the abundant demon power around him, he casually manipulated the demon aura. It was just like Kise said: shadow demons are received training to control demon power, even the purest ones, to deal with the worst case scenario.
Kuroko shook his head. This is not the worst case scenario, but close to one.
He stopped in front of a classroom door. It was Akashi's classroom. It was also the room where the demon power seemed to originate. Kuroko slid the door open.
Demon power rushed out in waves. It was supposed to hinder the eyesight of any common demon or human. But not Kuroko. He was far from any normal demon.
"Akashi-kun!" Kuroko called, seeing the red-haired boy lying on the ground. The demon power really originated from him, causing his human body to flicker. The power was destroying his body.
Kuroko bit his lower lip. This is bad. If Akashi was indeed the first demon king, as evidenced by that ability to produce demon power, then he is also 'that' demon.
A movement caught Kuroko's attention.
"Oh, we can't have you here, can we now, Kuroko Tetsuya-sama?" the dark-haired, pale demon said. He had that glint in his eyes, telling of how he seemed to enjoy the situation.
"What are you doing to Akashi-kun, Hanamiya Makoto-sama?" Kuroko asked. There was almost the hint of anger in his light blue eyes.
"Calm down. This is a test. I haven't even used the real ones yet, but looked at how powerful Akashi Seijuro-sama can be," Hanamiya said, still smiling. He turned to Kuroko. "You, on the other hand, shouldn't be here. Especially at times like this. Mayuzumi Chihiro-sama had been good enough to keep his distance."
"Please redo the seal," Kuroko said. "If this continues..."
"I haven't undone them," Hanamiya said. "You still keep one of his eyes, don't you?"
He laughed briefly.
"You're very lucky, both you and Mayuzumi Chihiro-sama," Hanamiya continued. There was a tinge of jealousy in his voice. "You both hold the power of 'that' demon, allowing you to have that one ability that only 'that' demon possesses. And that also entitles you two for the possession of the title of the demon king."
Akashi shivering caught Kuroko's attention once more.
"Please stop what you're doing to Akashi-kun," Kuroko said. His tone was hard. "Nothing can be gained from doing this."
"This..." Hanamiya said, gesturing towards Akashi. "... is actually what the Demon Elders plan on doing."
"What?"
"Since both you and Mayuzumi Chihiro-sama left the demon world, there is no other demon who could produce demon power staying in the demon world," Hanamiya said. "The demon worlds's existence depends greatly on the percent of demon power in its environment. With the demon's and human's continuous use of demon power, the demon world's resources are depleted."
Kuroko looked at Hanamiya in disbelief.
"In other words, the demon world is collapsing," Hanamiya continued. "And one way to save it is to take back the original producer of demon power. So the five Demon Elders searched for Akashi Seijuro-sama to wake his ability in order to save our world."
