Chapter 21: Nightshroud's carnage
"Alright… which are we doing first, then?" Triss asked excitedly
Jaden, Triss, Alexis, Chazz, Zane, Bastion, Kat, and Marik were all gathered in the cafeteria at around 7 PM, just after it closed. Since Sheppard had given each of them keys to the school and free reign of everything, Jaden decided it would be fun to have a game night to get everyone's minds off the Shadow Riders for a little bit and simply enjoy themselves. Yugi, Kaiba, Crowler, and Banner all decided against coming
'Which is for the better in my mind… that means we can… let loose' Jaden thought with a giggle
'I wish your friends knew about me… then I could play too' Yubel pouted
'One day, maybe… and you can help me with mine if you want' Jaden smiled
'Ohhhh… alright then!' Yubel giggled
"So, let's start with this picture drawing game I picked up a while back" Jaden grinned
"Ok… how do we play?" Zane asked
"So, basically… we'll each take turns coming up and drawing something on this whiteboard, k? Then the rest of us that are not drawing will try to guess the answer. First person to do so gets a point and then we move to the next person in line. The person drawing gets a point as well if someone guesses it, this way we can encourage uh… actually drawing what you're supposed to" Jaden chuckled
"Alright… so how many points do we need? And what does the winner get?" Kat grinned
"So, first person to 10 points wins… since there's 8 of us, that might be a while" Jaden giggled
"Also, the winner gets this crate of card packs that Yugi gave me" Jaden pointed to an open box slammed full of card packs from the newest release
"OH, SICK DUDE!" Kat yelled
"So… Marik gets to start" Jaden grinned
"Alright… so do I just pick something to draw or what?" Marik asked as he picked up a dry-erase marker
"Pick one of those cards… there's a word, or maybe two or three, on it, telling you what to draw. I shuffled them… fair warning, you can have one round be spaghetti and the next round is literally a dick. It's kinda all over the place in this game" Jaden laughed
"Oh… now this is getting interesting" Zane grinned
Jaden sat down between Alexis and Kat looking quite pleased with himself. The order for the game was: Marik, Zane, Bastion, Kat, Jaden, Alexis, Triss, Chazz
"Alright… oh… dear God" Marik grinned down at his card that he drew, 'Dildo'
"You weren't kidding about it not being PG, Jaden" Marik grinned as he started drawing. He started with a massive oval shape
"It's a penis!" Kat called out
"Not quite, Ms. Kaiba" Marik chuckled as everyone was either laughing or burying their face in their hands… or both
"Gonna do a bit of this… and a bit of that" Marik mumbled as he grinned from ear to ear while drawing the base of the dildo
"That's… literally a penis, Marik" Kat giggled
"No, it's not! It's close… but like… not actually a penis" Marik chuckled as he drew the head
"OH MY GOD!" Triss yelped before covering her mouth while Marik colored in the dildo a nice purple color
"I know what it is! But… I'm not saying it!" Triss turned completely red
"Alright… I'm done" Marik chuckled as he pointed to it. It looked like exactly like a large purple penis
"Tell me, tell me!" Alexis giggled as Triss whispered in her ear
"Oh shit, yeah! It's a dildo!" Alexis laughed
"Correct! It's a dildo!" Marik said as everyone busted out into laughter
"Wonder why Triss knew that one?" Kat grinned as Triss tried her best to hide behind Chazz's shoulder

"Oh… I've got a good idea for this" Zane chuckled to himself as he started drawing for his card, 'Spider.' He started with a massive square that had 4 long and thin limbs coming off of it
"Uhhhh… Spongebob?" Chazz chuckled
"Well… yes, but no… that's not the card… I'm getting to it" Zane grinned as he put holes in Spongebob and gave him a face
"So… instead of… flipping burgers" Zane smirked as he drew a spatula in Spongebob's right hand
"He's… hitting this thing" Zane drew a small circle and a bunch of lines coming off it
"The sun?"
"A crab"
"A spider" Bastion chuckled
"Yes! A spider… who said 'The sun?'" Zane chuckled as he swapped places with Bastion

"Ok so… how the hell do I draw this" Bastion chuckled as he drew a flat surface

Bastion shook his head with a huge grin as he drew a penis and an arrow going from the tip of the penis to the 'slit'
"Jesus, Bastion!" Zane laughed
"I'M SORRY!" Bastion yelled in between laughs

"Close… another word for it" Bastion shrugged
"Uh… pulling out?" Jaden said, causing everyone to laugh
"No… though, that probably comes later" Bastion chuckled

"Yes!" Bastion sighed in relief since his time was almost up
"Who… even uses that term anymore?" Kat groaned
"Adults do, Ms. Kaiba" Marik chuckled as Kat took to the board

"I have… no idea how to draw this" Kat sighed as she drew 'Italy'
"It's not sexual… not fun this time" Kat giggled as she drew a very derpy looking boot
"Boot?" Triss giggled
"No, though that is what I'm going for here" Kat shrugged
"It's Italy" Bastion grinned
"Yeah! How'd you get that? I didn't even draw much!" Kat giggled
"You said you were drawing a boot… but it wasn't a boot. Dead giveaway" Bastion chuckled as Jaden went up to the board

"Hmph… alright then" Jaden grinned as he drew 'cheerleader'
"So… alright" Jaden sighed as he drew two straight horizontal lines on top of each other
"And then… these" Jaden mumbled as he drew feet on the ends of these lines and then erased the middle part of the top line before sending lines upwards
"It's… a person" Bastion pointed out
"Yep" Jaden nodded as he continued to draw the arms and then the head
"Wow… really? No guesses?" Jaden giggled as he drew hands on the end of the arms and then his version of pompom's, which were more like scribbly balls

"Yep! Cheerleader" Jaden beamed as he swapped places with Alexis

"Aaaaand… oh boy" Alexis sighed as she drew 'Mona Lisa'
"I… will warn you guys… I can't really draw" Alexis giggled as she drew a very large outline of a person's upper body
"Goodness, it's huge" Jaden whispered
"That's what she said" Kat giggled
"Some of this…" Alexis mumbled as she drew some hair on her head
"And then… these" Alexis said as she drew two arms with inter-locking hands on the end
"Oh! Oh!" Bastion snapped as he tried to think of the word
"It's uh… Mona Lisa, right?" Bastion said excitedly
"Yes!" Alexis jumped up
"What!? She's huge!" Chazz gasped
"Dude… that's the MEGA LISA" Kat said in a deep voice, causing everyone to start dying laughing
"The… fucking… mega Lisa" Jaden said weakly in between laughs while Triss took to the board

Triss' card was 'kissing'
"Ooooh! I like this one!" Triss giggled excitedly. She started with two people's faces facing each other
"I think I know… but I'll wait" Alexis played with her nail and giggled
Triss drew two sets of lips on each person's face before drawing their noses and eyes
"Kissing, right?" Alexis asked
"Yep!" Triss giggled
"You're pretty good at drawing, Triss. Those eyes look pretty realistic" Jaden complemented
"Thanks!" Triss beamed as Chazz got up and she sat down
"Oh… alright" Chazz chuckled as he drew 'Yoda' and picked up a green marker
He drew a small head and two massive pointy ears before grabbing the grey marker and drawing frizzly hair and eyeballs
"Goblin?"
"Elf"
"Orc"
"Old dude"
"Great stupidity, I sense" Chazz chuckled
"YODA!" Jaden roared
"Yep!" Chazz grinned as Marik went to the board once more
They continued like this for another hour and a half until Bastion finally won, guessing the correct answer of 'Iron Man.' The match was pretty close with Bastion, Alexis, and Marik all tied with 9 points while Chazz and Zane had 7 and Triss, Jaden, and Kat each had 6
"Damn… we suck" Kat giggled as she nudged Jaden
"Yeah… guess so" Jaden shrugged
Marik, Chazz, Triss, Kat, and Bastion all went to bed quickly thereafter, while Zane carried Bastion's cards for him since Bastion was carrying food
"I'll be back in a bit if you guys want to hang out still" Zane smiled to Alexis and Jaden and left
"So…" Jaden smirked, getting her attention
"So?" Alexis smiled
"So… just the two of us" Jaden started singing as Alexis giggled
"No! Not this again!" Alexis laughed
"No? Alright then!" Jaden giggled as he started tickling Alexis, causing her to squirm
"Stop! Stop! I'm ticklish, stop!" Alexis' face had turned from laughter before Jaden finally ceased
"I gotta go to bed" Jaden yawned and looked to Alexis as she recovered from her fit of laughter
"Alright… see ya tomorrow then, Jay" Alexis giggled as their eyes met
They stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity as Jaden slowly drifted towards her, their foreheads touching
"I thought you were going to bed" Alexis whispered
"I am… just not yet," Jaden said as their noses touched
"Think you're getting a goodnight kiss?" Alexis giggled
"It would help me sleep" Jaden laughed as he pushed her down onto the couch on her back and crawled on top of her
"No, it wouldn't, don't lie" Alexis laughed as Jaden leaned his face down to her with a huge grin on it
"No… probably not" Jaden was breathing heavily as their noses touched again and they stared into each other's eyes for a long time
"Either kiss me or go to bed, Romeo" Alexis giggled quietly
Jaden chuckled before taking her lips in his, throwing them into a searing hot kiss. Their lips moved in such a way that they melded together, becoming one. Alexis grabbed his shirt and used her legs to kick herself over, causing him to roll on his back with her following, lips still locked. Alexis didn't let go of the kiss for a long time until finally Jaden's eyebrows raised and pushed her up lightly to break the kiss
"I need to breathe, Lexi!" Jaden giggled as he rolled back over, putting him on top of her again
"No, you don't," Alexis said, desire in her voice as she pulled him back down to her and locked lips with him again as they both put a hand behind the other's head. Alexis moaned as Jaden used his right hand to trail down her side past her bust, over her waist, and brushing her ass as he grabbed her thigh and pulled it up, causing her skirt to ride up her legs. Jaden broke the kiss as they both gasped for air and Jaden let go of her thigh
"Yeah… that's not going to help you sleep" Alexis giggled as she brushed her skirt back down
"Sorry… about…" Jaden turned red as he realized what he had done with his hand
"If it bothers me, I'll let you know. Just don't think you're getting anything more than that tonight… or anytime soon, for that matter" Alexis giggled as Jaden rolled off her and stood up
"I meant to have a peck on the lips! Not… that! That was your fault!" Jaden giggled as he put his jacket on and grabbed his stuff
"Oh? My bad, I'll make sure not to do that again then. I shouldn't have grabbed my thigh and made my skirt rise up with you on top of me. How naughty of me" Alexis sent an 'oh really?' look at Jaden
"I knew you would see it my way" Jaden grinned
"Uh huh… we'll see who got their way when I don't let you kiss me anymore" Alexis giggled as she stood up
"Now that would just be a shame" Jaden chuckled as he pulled her to him and played with her hair, staring into her eyes as he did
"Why? I can survive just fine without kissing. You're the one causing trouble" Alexis smirked
"True… but it would be a shame for you to not share these lips of yours" Jaden giggled as he leaned into her again
Alexis smirked and leaned all the way in, but instead of kissing him, she used her teeth on his bottom lip to pull it. She bit down gently on it before letting it slap back in place and pushing him onto the couch again
"Watch yourself, big guy. I'm not your toy" Alexis giggled as she turned to leave
"Whoa" Jaden whispered, his eyes wide as he watched Alexis leave
"You're staring!" Alexis called out while leaving, not even having to look at him to know
"Am not!" Jaden giggled as he watched her butt swish while she walked out the door
Alexis was grinning from ear to ear as she walked towards her dorm
'What a guy! Thinking he can just kiss me whenever he wants!' Alexis giggled
'If he's not careful, I'll cut him off' Alexis grinned, but ironically, it was her thoughts that were cut off as she was knocked out
A few minutes later
"Let's see… where's the boy?" Nightshroud grinned as he looked to a device in his hand, which pointed towards a run-down building with a red roof
"Heh… a Slifer is a key keeper? Sheppard's a fool…" Nightshroud chuckled as he left

'So… that was fun' Yubel grinned
'No idea what you're talking about' Jaden giggled
'No? Don't remember the hot and steamy kissing session you had with Alexis? How about when she bit your lip? I thought that bit was especially hot' Yubel purred
'No idea' Jaden shrugged
'Uh huh… your tent says otherwise' Yubel cackled as Jaden turned red
'Go away, Yubel' Jaden said, embarrassed
'Sure… take your time' Yubel laughed as she disappeared, Jaden turning even more red than before
Jaden sighed as he entered his quiet and dark room. As he closed the door, a bright light filled his room and he once again felt that strange feeling of falling endlessly through the void. He found himself unable to scream or make noise as he fell for what seemed like an hour
Jaden suddenly hit the ground with a 'THWACK', causing him to wince in pain
"Gonna feel that tomorrow…" Jaden groaned as he moved to his feet and took in his surroundings
Jaden's eyes grew wide as he realized he was standing on a platform just above a bubbling volcano
"Uhhh… not ideal" Jaden said aloud
'Summon me so I can get you off this thing!' Yubel shrieked
Just as Jaden was about to summon her, he heard a twisted laugh
"Hello… Key keeper!" the voice cackled
A dragon made of lava from the volcano danced around before slamming onto the platform and disappearing, leaving a man in its wake. He wore a black mask, had long black hair, and had on a black outfit with a black jacket that fluffed out behind him like Kaiba's
"Heh… hello, Atticus" Jaden growled
"How do you know that name!?" Nightshroud demanded
"I've been following your trail for over a month… seems you're the one that found me, though" Jaden chuckled before getting serious all at once, tensing up as he heard Alexis scream
"Where's Alexis!?" Jaden panicked
"Huh? Oh… the girl. She's over there" Nightshroud grinned as he pointed to an orb floating in the middle of the air over the volcano, just a few feet from the large platform they were on. Inside was Alexis, apparently screaming but no noise came from it anymore as Nightshroud waved his hand
"I'm gonna get you outta there, don't worry Lexi!" Jaden yelled
'How the FUCK am I going to get her out of there?' Jaden thought
"Don't worry… she's fine… for now" Nightshroud cackled
"What's that mean?" Jaden snarled
"It means… you're going to duel me in a shadow game! If you lose, I take your soul, your key, and she drops. If I lose, you take my soul and the girl goes free. If you say no, she drops into the volcano. If you duel too slowly, she drops into the volcano. Got it?" Nightshroud smirked
"Uh huh… oh, I got it alright. Let's duel!" Jaden roared as his duel disk materialized on his arm with his deck in it
"Huh… interesting" Nightshroud commented before activating his duel disk
"You go first, key keeper… nice amulet, by the way," Nightshroud smirked as he pointed out his half of the same amulet

'Exactly. But that won't happen!' Yubel giggled

Nightshroud screeched in pain from the attack
"That attack… wasn't that strong, dude" Jaden said, surprised
"I've made this… one of the most dangerous shadow games… ever" Nightshroud smirked as he stumbled to his feet

"I activate my troop dragon's special effect! Since he was destroyed in battle, I can special summon another 'Troop Dragon' from my deck!" Nightshroud exclaimed
"Fine… then I'll throw down a face down and end my turn"

'FUCK! Oh my God, Yubel! My arm... It hurts!' A tear escaped Jaden as he looked at the sizable burn on his right forearm
'I'll kill him!' Yubel growled
"Just give up, Key Keeper!" Nightshroud laughed maniacally
"No… I won't!" Jaden groaned as he rose to his feet
"Hmph… then I end my turn. Your funeral" Nightshroud smirked

"We'll see! Draw!" Jaden winced in pain as he drew. He could feel his flesh burning on his arm as he played

Jaden watched with wide eyes as the massive fireball hurtled towards him. He closed his eyes and accepted that his fate would be to die in this duel
'JADEN! NO!' Yubel yelled as Red Eyes' attack made contact with Jaden, knocking him on his back

'You're ok! You're ok! Get up!' Yubel panicked as she looked at Jaden's state
He had blood running from 7 different spots on his body and burns covering a good portion of his body. His jacket had completely burned up and his shirt was mostly burned off. He had several burns and lacerations across his chest, arms and shoulders, as well as a large cut on his forehead. His right leg had been sliced open so badly that Yubel could see the bone, while his left leg had a burn on the inside of his thigh
Jaden rolled over and coughed out blood in excessive amounts. He struggled for close to a minute to stand up due to his leg injuries. Blood poured from his mouth, head, chest, and limbs as he rose to his feet slowly
Alexis was screaming and crying in her bubble, but no one could hear her due to Nightshroud's magic
"You don't look so good. I end my turn… if you can even take your next one" Nightshroud cackled
Jaden's Turn:

Jaden looked around dizzily and didn't even bother drawing a card since he was incapable of it anyway. He looked at his hands, which were red from blood flowing down his arms. He slowly looked to Alexis and noticed the tears rolling down her face, but was incapable of comprehending the situation
'I can still win… I can save her' Jaden thought
"Obsk… tak" Jaden slurred his words as he dropped to his knees
Obelisk screamed so loud it woke the entire island as he punched Red Eyes Black Dragon

Every single key keeper jerked straight up in bed at the roar. Each of them noticed the key around their necks jingling and rushed from their beds towards where the key was pointing
At the volcano

Nightshroud howled in pain from the damage he suffered by Obelisk's punch, but his body seemed to be unaffected
Jaden, on his knees, managed to pick a card from his hand, getting blood all over it in the process
"Hero… spark" Jaden said before spitting blood several feet in front of him
'Dear God… hurry up and finish him, Jaden! We have to get you to the hospital!' Yubel had tears rolling down her face

"Tack… end" Jaden said before collapsing completely. Sparkman lunged a lightning bolt at Nightshroud just in time to win the duel before Jaden went unconscious

Atticus fell to his knees and screamed before they were all teleported to the base of the volcano, where the cool night's breeze stung Alexis' face
"NO NO NO NO! JADEN! JADEN!" Alexis cried as she ran to his motionless body
"Jaden? Jaden! JADEN! STAY WITH ME!" Alexis screamed as she held Jaden in her arms
His chest and arms were badly burnt. His clothes were singed and large pieces completely missing. There was blood running from every part of his body. Jaden didn't move or respond to anything Alexis did
"No… no no no no no… don't go… stay here with me… PLEASE! I NEED YOU!" Alexis cried as she held Jaden and cradled him while rocking back and forth
"Hush little baby, don't you cry… I'm going to sing you a lullaby" Alexis sung quietly as tears rolled down her face onto Jaden's bloody face
"THERE THEY ARE!" Zane yelled in the distance as the other Key Keepers sprinted to Alexis
"Alexis! Oh my God!... What happened!?" Kat gasped as she saw Jaden's condition, the others crowding around them
"He… he dueled a Shadow Rider… he dueled Atti! He beat him but… he almost lost… he's not responding!" Alexis' voice was breaking as she cried, tears pouring down her face
"She's in shock… she needs help and so does Jaden… badly" Zane said, commanding the others to move quickly
"So, then… where's Atticus?" Chazz asked before Alexis pointed to a motionless body on the floor
Zane and Chazz rushed to Atticus and picked him up to carry him as Triss grabbed a card with a mask on it that fell on the ground where Atticus was lying
"MARIK! GRAB HIM AND LET'S GO!" Kaiba roared as he, Triss, and Yugi basically dragged Alexis with them
"Dear God… what the hell happened to you, Jaden?" Marik whispered as he picked up the singed boy
"Don't you worry… I'm gonna help you… just hang in there… don't die on me, please… DON'T FUCKING DIE ON ME JADEN!" Marik was running as fast as he could, leaving everyone else far behind him as he sprinted to the school, Jaden in his arms
A few minutes later in the school
"FONTAINE! FONTAIIIIINNEEEEEE! HELP ME RIGHT NOW!" Marik roared as he came running down the hall
"Jesus, Marik, what is wrong!?" Ms. Fontaine squealed as she rounded the corner
Ms. Fontaine gasped as she saw Jaden's state while Marik rushed towards her
"Oh my God… get him in here! Lay him on a bed, quickly!" Ms. Fontaine went into total control mode as she moved quickly around the room, grabbing her needed tools. She compartmentalized any and all emotions so she could work clearly
"I'm a trained first responder but I'm no doctor… help me help you" Marik said in between gasps for air
"Take off his shirt and pants. I need to treat those burns before they get any worse… the hell happened!?" Fonda shrieked
"He dueled one of the Shadow Riders… looks like one hell of a beat down" Marik said, tears rolling down his face
"He lost, then?" Fonda asked, still moving quickly
"No… that's the thing… he won… it's just… the Shadow Game took too much of a toll on him" Marik said worriedly
"Marik!?" A woman gasped in the doorway
"ISHIZU! HELP ME, QUICKLY!" Marik yelled
Ishizu Ishtar and the well known Odion came barreling through the door to Marik's side to assist him
"Hold his leg… there… yes! Apply pressure… don't let him go anywhere as I work… this is going to hurt a lot" Fonda explained as she worked quickly
Odion held Jaden down in case he were to wake up as Marik, Ishizu, and Fonda treated his wounds
"There's… Jesus! There's shrapnel in here too! How is he not dead!? He's lost so much blood!" Ishizu shrieked
"I-I-I-I don't know… I'm freaking out here! I haven't seen anything this bad ever!" Marik stuttered
"Calm down, brother! You're going to go faint!" Ishizu warned as her white robes became stained with blood
"We're in for a long night if you want him to survive" Fonda said seriously as she held tweezers in her mouth and dug through Jaden's cuts
"He's not the only one that needs help!" Zane roared as he came bursting through the door, carrying Atticus princess-style
"Another one!?" Fonda shrieked
"This one lost!" Zane yelled
"Oh God… keep applying pressure, you three… I need to inspect the other one!" Fonda said worriedly
"Oh… this isn't nearly as bad… he's fine, I think… a few broken ribs, maybe, but… he seems fine" Fonda sighed in relief as she inspected Atticus
"Then why is he unconscious!?" Zane demanded
"He's… just exhausted… like he hasn't slept in a month… he just needs some sleep… and fluids. It seems like that spirit protected his body from any real physical harm. I'll hook up an IV for him in a moment… I need to help Jaden right now" Fonda worked quickly to treat Jaden's wounds
"Oh my God…" Chazz whispered as he looked at Jaden, who was only in his underwear now
Cuts and burns covered more of his body than not. He was bleeding from several places, causing much of his skin to take on a red tint. His eyes were shut, and his hair was matted with blood
"Hey! Can we come in!?" Triss asked as she and Alexis stood at the door with Alexis leaning on her shoulder, a distant look in her eyes
Zane instinctively jumped up and covered Jaden with the curtains before rushing to the door
"Yeah… just… fucking hell" Zane sighed as he pointed at a bed for them to sit on
"Is Jaden behind that?" Alexis asked as she rushed to the curtain before Zane stood in front of her
"Yes… and you can't see him right now" Zane said seriously
"What do you mean!? I HAVE to see him!" Alexis roared as she tried to push past Zane
Alexis managed to get to the curtain and rip it open before gasping and covering her mouth as tears started rolling down her face
"Jaden! Oh my God!" Alexis wailed
He looked bad at the volcano, but this was entirely different. The light revealed all of his wounds and most of his clothing had been removed, showing his badly wounded body to all who gazed
"Jaden…" Triss whispered as she looked at Jaden's badly burnt body
"Is-Is he going to be ok?" Alexis asked as the turned to Zane, her eyes completely bloodshot red
"I… I don't want to lie to you, Lexi…" Zane sighed
"Then don't! Is he going to be ok!?" Alexis demanded
"I'm… not really sure" Zane admitted
Alexis' mouth dropped open as she turned to Triss and cried into her shoulder
"No… no no no no!" Alexis' vocabulary had been limited to 5 words at best at this point
"Lexi… let's go check on Atti" Triss whispered
Alexis nodded as she rushed over to Atticus
"Atti?" Alexis asked but got no response
"He's going to be fine… he's just super tired" Chazz comforted
"WHERE THE FUCK ARE YUGI AND KAIBA!?" Marik roared all at once after he dropped something from shaking so bad
"I-I don't know!" Chazz shrieked
"FUCKING FIND THEM AND BRING THEM HERE… NOW!... FUCK!" Marik screamed in utter anger and sadness
"On it!" Chazz almost shit himself as he literally sprinted out of the room
"Hang on, Jaden… you're going to be alright" Marik whispered as tears rolled down his cheek
"Marik" Fonda said, not looking away from what she was doing
"Marik… MARIK!" Fonda yelled
"What!?" Marik asked, his voice completely breaking to the point where it sounded like he had said nothing
"I need you at 100%... ok? 100%! I can't save him on my own! You or your friends have to help me!" Fonda said seriously
"I-I-I can't right now!" Marik said as he ran his fingers through his hair, getting Jaden's blood in it. Tears were rolling down his face at full speed
"Let me help… do what you can, Marik… I'll fill in for the rest" Ishizu smiled weakly as she took to his side
"Alexis… come on… we need to leave" Zane ushered her out quickly and closed the door
Alexis' face was completely expressionless as her tears rolled down her cheek slowly, her eyes the widest they've ever been
"Come on… we're gonna get you something to drink… have a nice coffee… and maybe some hot food. How that sound, eh?" Zane forced a chuckle, trying to make her feel better
"I-I-I-I c-c-can't l-lose him!" Alexis gasped before collapsing from shock
"It's ok, Lexi… I'm gonna get you to your room… and when you wake up… hopefully this nightmare is over" Zane mumbled as he carried her to her room
With Jaden
"Is this how all of the duels are going to be!?" Triss shrieked as she watched them work on Jaden's bloodied body
"I don't know… I seriously hope not… I can't handle this every week" Fonda whispered
"In here!" Chazz's voice came from outside before the door ripped open and Chazz, Kaiba, and Yugi barreled in
"NICE OF YOU TO FUCKING SHOW UP!" Marik yelled
"Watch your mouth!" Kaiba hissed
"OR WHAT!? YOU GONNA HIT ME, BIG MAN? SHOW ME!" Marik snarled, walking up to Kaiba with balled up fists
"Don't make me show you!" Kaiba growled
"FUCK YOU!" Marik shoved Kaiba several feet into the wall, banging his head on a hard-plastic box. Kaiba balled up his fists as he came charging back at Marik, who had his fist drawn back ready to know Kaiba out
"Enough, Marik! Both of you stop!" Yugi said, getting between them
"The kid… he's dying! He's dying, Yugi! I can't save him!" Marik cried as he lowered his fists and hugged Yugi
Yugi shed a tear as he looked at Jaden's motionless body over Marik's shoulder, covered in blood and burns
"I can't even help him, Yugi… I'm a wreck" Marik cried into Yugi's shoulder
"Go, Marik… I can take over from here" Yugi whispered as Marik nodded and quickly left
"This is… too much for kids to handle" Kaiba sighed and closed his eyes, unable to look at the carnage that had been wrought on Jaden's body
"No, fuck that! After what they did to Jaden? We all want revenge!" Kat said angrily
"I… can't imagine… if this happened to you… I WON'T let this happen to you" Seto hugged Kat tightly
"It won't… but you're not forcing us out of this just because you're worried" Kat said seriously
The next morning
Alexis woke up in a pool of her own sweat and breathing heavily
"Where am I?" Alexis whispered as she looked around, trying to remember something… anything
"Duel… volcano… Jaden!" Alexis shrieked as she ran out the door in her pajamas to find the hospital room. Images of blood everywhere and burns on Jaden's body flooded through her mind as she panickily looked for the hospital room
"Hello!? HELLO!?" Alexis called out as she entered the room
"Alexis?" Zane asked before rushing over to her and hugging her
"I… I need to see him" Alexis whispered with her head resting on Zane's shoulder
Zane nodded and guided her to Jaden's bed before moving the curtain back, causing Alexis to gasp
His skin was sickly white and he looked deflated, But his burns and cuts were all bandaged and he no longer had the red tint of blood on him. She could see his chest rising and falling, indicating he was still alive
"Is… he ok?" Alexis asked, unable to cry anymore since she was completely out of tears
"Yeah… he's gonna live, Lexi" Zane smiled at her
Alexis just started laughing before burying her face in Zane's shirt, making a mess of it with snot
"Gross…" Zane chuckled
"Sorry… I'm just… a mess right now" Alexis said as he pulled away from him, not knowing why she had laughed
"It's ok… don't worry… they're both going to be fine" Zane hugged her again
"Oh… hi" Fonda yawned as she entered the room
"What can you tell us?" Zane asked, bags under his eyes. Apparently, he hadn't slept last night
"He should be dead right now… but he's not" Fonda shook her head, like nothing made sense anymore
"W-what?" Alexis asked as her throat constricted
"Well… he's healing unnaturally fast… I've never really seen anything like it before. Whatever it is that's causing it, it's likely what saved his life" Fonda admitted as she put on gloves
"He's going to be fine… how fine, I'm not sure… I'll that answer for you after I take his vitals" Fonda mumbled as she moved quickly, checking the EKG and several other devices she had
Alexis tried to grab his hand, but quickly yanked her hand away from him
"He's… on fire!" Alexis shrieked
"Let me take his temperature" Fonda whispered as she stuck the tool in his mouth
"HOLY SHIT!" She yelled
"What!?" Alexis jumped
"He's 111.9! Poor kid!" Fonda sighed as she put an icepack on his forehead and two behind his back before putting something in his IV
"So, how 'alright' is he, Ms. Fontaine?" Zane asked seriously
"Eh… other than this monstrous fever? He's fine… just needs time to heal" Fonda sighed in relief and even smiled for the first time in the past 12 hours
"Good… that's good" Zane sighed in relief as well before chuckling
"I gotta go… I need to find Marik" Alexis whispered before taking off quickly
'Where the hell does he even sleep?' Alexis thought to herself
'Only one place I know to look… then I'll have to ask around after that' Alexis shrugged
Later
"Hello?" Alexis called out as she entered Jaden's room
She noticed Marik fast asleep on Jaden's bed, tears dried to his face and Jaden's blood still on his arms, forehead, and hair
'Poor guy must've cried himself to sleep… this isn't his fault' Alexis felt bad for him as she looked around
'Hmph… guess… no, I shouldn't…' Alexis grinned and bit her lip before she started… snooping
'What… do you get up to… in here, Jaden?' Alexis giggled quietly as she looked around his room and opened the drawer to his nightstand
"Huh?" Alexis whispered as she noticed a black book in the drawer
She quickly picked it up and opened it to its first page
"Journal of Jaden Yuki" was written in big letters on the first page
Alexis bit her lip and let the book drop to her lap
'I… really shouldn't read this' she thought
'But… he won't ever know and… well… I thought he was going to die… I want to know what he thought about all of us' Alexis giggled
'I HAVE to know if he writes about me' Alexis smirked as she leaned back in the chair, keeping one eye on Marik while reading with the other
Day 1
Today I passed my entrance exams. I faced off against an actual teacher and summoned Ra to smoke him with! It was totally awesome, and the crowd was going wild!
Alexis couldn't help but giggle as she read it in Jaden's voice in her head
I met these really cool people, too! This short boy Syrus with blue hair, for example. He's super nice but has confident issues, unfortunately. Then there's Bastion. A really smart guy and a fantastic duelist but maybe a little dry on the personality side of things
Alexis cackled as quietly as she could and stuck her tongue out as she kept reading
Then there's Kat Kaiba. She doesn't remind much of her dad except for the eyes. She's nice and doesn't have problems talking to people, unlike Seto. Her bright blue eyes really shine when in contrast with her blonde hair
Alexis bit her lip jealously as she kept reading
Her facial features are overall very attractive, as she is easy on the eyes. It's clear that she's quite fit, too, as she has nice curves
Alexis giggled and shook her head

One of the more surprising things of my day was when a girl with hair like fire approached me shyly. I could tell right away she was having trouble talking so I decided to help her out and be forward with her. She's really quite pretty and exotic looking with her hair. Is it natural, I wonder?
'Yes… it's natural, Jaden' Alexis rolled her eyes
I did not dwell on her attractiveness long as she mentioned a friend had asked her to come get my name. It seemed right away to be a way for her to feel less awkward around me, but I was perfectly fine with it. I decided to go meet this 'friend' of hers
Her friend turned out to be "Alexis Rhodes," and apparently her peers call her the "Queen of Obelisk Blue." Seems a bit on the nose if you ask me, but I digress
Alexis giggled and stuck her tongue out at the book
Alexis has a friendly aura to her. I felt… safe, in her presence. Like she was someone I could open up to and talk to like we were old friends, even though I'd never met her. Perhaps it was her feminine charm that helped her in this area
Alexis raised an eyebrow and grinned as she kept reading
Her eyes are large, hazel, and enchanting. As soon as we made eye contact, I didn't want to ever leave. You know that saying "Take a picture, it'll last longer?" Yeah, well I wish I could. She's one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen
Alexis blushed red as she read, despite the only person around being a sleeping 30-year-old virgin
She has long dirty-blonde hair that reaches down to the small of her back and cute, petite ears. Her nose is quite small for the size of her eyes at first glance, but upon reflecting I think it fits her quite nicely. Her chin is pointed at the bottom
Alexis sighed irritably at the mention of her chin. She hated her chin, and it annoyed her even more that Jaden noticed it on their first meeting. She was actually shocked by the amount of detail about her in just the first day
'He must've really been paying attention' Alexis giggled
I find it's the imperfections that make someone perfect, such is the case here. Her attire was very appealing, as well. She had on blue fingerless gloves, matching the color of her outfit. Her torso was completely covered by a tight-fitting blazer that it seems all the Obelisk female's wear. While it's true that I care more for someone's eyes and lips, it was hard not to notice Alexis' other impressive features as well
Alexis grinned as she read ahead as quickly as she could
She wore a very short skirt that revealed two very long and creamy legs, admittedly very appealing to the eye. She had on a pair of blue boots which made me shudder. I love boots!
'Hmm… something to keep in mind' Alexis smirked
As Yubel reminds me, I should also include her other 'assets' as they are 'very hot' in her words
Alexis shook her head and giggled
'Wow… right away, eh, Yubel?' Alexis thought

It is hard to deny, though, that Alexis is among the most attractive people I've ever seen. Her butt is small but very cute, and her bust is larger than most girl's her age, which I can't complain about. Yubel has decided to point out, in her own words, that 'She would eat Alexis' ass like the groceries as well as ravaging her other orifices.' Never a dull moment with her, I suppose

While her physical appearance is impressive all around, it's not what I find the most alluring. Her eyes hide sadness, but also intelligence and understanding. If I had to point to someone who I thought would match with me on an emotional level, I would have to guess Alexis. The way she carries herself, the mood she brings, the look in her eyes. Though I do not share such a sad story as I'm sure she has, I do find that she is likely capable of deep understanding and emotion, which I find to be a rare and refreshing trait

Today was one of the most confusing days I've ever had. My emotions have been on a rollercoaster all evening, and I find that again the only things I can turn to are Marik, Yubel, Alexis, and this journal. Though it seems that, for tonight and the following weeks, Alexis will not be of any help, seeing as it is her that I write about tonight
Today was the day of the dance here at Duel Academy. After much time deciding on my outfit and trying to look my best, I finally decided to go pick up the vision that was my date
Alexis squealed silently and kicked her legs while she sat in the chair, looking like she was having a stroke, but in reality, she'd never been happier
I met up with Kat first, who looked very pretty. Admittedly, if I didn't have feelings for Alexis already, I would be interested in Kat. She's very down to earth and beautiful in all ways, but what I find most alluring about her is her dark sense of humor. She's quite open about her kinks and fetishes, which I find very amusing. This confuses me as one of the things I enjoy most about Alexis is her… how do I say this? Not prudeness, but… well, she's reserved. I try my best to not weird her out with constant compliments, as I think it does actually weird her out a bit. If I didn't have this belief, I would spend most of my day showering her with compliments about her beauty

As I casually mentioned the prospect of boys to her, she rolled her beautiful eyes and sighed. I wondered if I would ever actually break this wall that she had put up around her

As the night progressed, I found myself unable to focus on anything but her. She smelled incredible and she was warm to the touch. All I wanted to do was cuddle with her all night, but that wasn't in the cards as I had bigger plans
As I've written in here many times before, Alexis is enchanting in every way, so I see no need to bore you, journal, with the details again. As the night went on, I had a quick dance battle with Zane which I thought was quite fun, but the entire time I found myself longing for it end so I could be by her side again. Does this make me obsessive? Perhaps I should consult Marik to see if I'm actually insane or not
Alexis giggled and bit her finger
'Maybe just a bit, Jay. But it's ok' Alexis thought
I finally couldn't take it anymore. I needed to dance with her, to see the passion in her eyes, to hold her in my arms. I requested a dance so that I could salsa with her. The poor girl had no idea of my intentions to take it far beyond what we had practiced, but she was nice enough to go along with it. She did her absolute best, and I think she did incredibly well for someone that had just picked up dancing just two weeks prior. While I think the salsa was quite impressive, I'm quite tired so I will move on to the juicy bits
I requested a second song later that night, a slow dance one. This was the moment! The moment where I tell her how I feel… show her… how I feel. I told myself earlier this year that I would tell her once the feeling of her not knowing how I felt was unbearable, and I am now at that point. As the song moved quickly, I tried my best to keep the conversation going. I honestly couldn't tell you what I said if you asked me, as my attention were entirely on her lips. Her puffy, alluring lips. The lips that I was doing my best not to devour in front of everyone
Alexis had turned completely red again
As the slow dance came to an end, I found myself unable to let go of her. I realized that it was all or nothing in this moment, so I decided to go all in. I bet everything I had as I leaned in and kissed her, giving her my first kiss and I taking hers. It was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. Her skin was hot, so hot I thought my lips would melt off. Looking back, I realize mine must've been just as hot to the touch
Alexis grinned, recalling the heat of his lips as well, giggling now knowing that it was mutual
She asked to take me outside, and I wondered 'where are you going with this?' As much as I like her, I wasn't ready to get physically intimate with anyone at this time
Alexis blushed red at the thought, continuing to read
As it turned out, I was simply a fool as she had much to say with little touching involved. I'll never forget the moment she said 'I'm not ready for whatever this is.' I honestly believe that, in that moment, I would rather have been shot
Alexis' heart sank as she felt really bad for the boy that almost died last night in an effort to save her brother
It only got better from there, though. She assured me I wasn't friendzoned, which is hilarious because that's what friend zoners do, but I digress. I remember I had basically banished Yubel from speaking to me after Alexis told me she wasn't ready, which I feel mildly guilty about now… nevermind. She still wants to do nefarious things to Alexis apparently, so there will be no mercy!
Alexis laughed pretty loudly, but she no longer cared if Marik woke up. In fact, he was the last thing in her mind right now
The feeling of… pure happiness, when she told me she needed me, is unlike anything I've experienced. True euphoria, in every sense of the word. We shared another passionate kiss, this time her being the one to initiate it, making me finally certain that she feels the same way. She mentioned going to bed, and I wanted to crack a thousand jokes, but I decided to leave the moment an untarnished romantic one. Now, as tired as I am, I believe that I will lie awake for hours thinking about my time with her tonight, until I finally fall asleep from exhaustion. Good night, journal.
Alexis closed the book and noticed Marik staring at her as she put it on the desk
"Good morning, Alexis" Marik groaned as he sat up
"Rare that you call me by name" Alexis chuckled
"Yes… it's part of my uh… what's the word" Marik went silent for a moment
"Bravado" Marik said, making them both laugh
"Good morning, Marik" Alexis giggled
"You seem to be in a good mood… I imagine that means Jaden's ok, thankfully… I guess whatever you were reading was satisfactory?" Marik smiled as he stumbled into Jaden's closet
"Don't… rat me out" Alexis warned
"I won't… but that is quite the invasion of privacy. You quite literally took a journey through his mind. The way he thinks is likely different from the way he speaks… and there are things in there that he hasn't shared with anyone before" Marik sighed as he pulled off his blood-covered shirt
Alexis couldn't help but admire Marik's toned figure and elegant tattoo's as he walked around the room slowly
"Did you not do the same over Christmas break when you invaded his mind?" Alexis tilted her head
"True… but he was willing that time" Marik chuckled
"I suppose… I didn't mean to intrude, really, it just kinda… happened" Alexis giggled
"Unable to stop yourself? I understand… it happens. Honestly, I don't think he would care that much… he doesn't hide things from you that you want to know. He hides the things you don't want to know" Marik shrugged
"Like?" Alexis asked, perplexed
"Things you don't like to hear. That he likes the way your ass shakes when you walk or the size of your bust, that kind of thing" Marik laughed
"Oh… yeah…" Alexis turned red
"He's different… he has a very soft side. But he's still a boy, Alexis" Marik chuckled as he closed the door and turned on the shower
"True… how've you dealt with it for so long?" Alexis asked as she put her back to the door
"Ah… furious masturbation" Marik chuckled from the other side of the door
"Great… super great to know… sorry I asked" Alexis mumbled
"You do it too!" Marik grinned as water and soap could be heard crashing onto the shower floor
"I… do not!" Alexis gasped, very red in the face at being called out
"Sure, you don't" Marik laughed
"This is so weird with you being naked in the shower" Alexis giggled
"It's not weird… it's only weird if you make it weird, darling" Marik said indifferently
"How is he, Alexis?" Marik asked, regaining his usual serious tone and demeanor as he showered
"He… looks horrible. Fonda said he should've died" Alexis said sadly
"But he didn't? Interesting" Marik sighed as the steam filled the bathroom. Jaden's bathroom had hot water, unlike the others in the Slifer dorm. Perks of having superpowers
"She said… he healed unnaturally fast… and that it saved his life" Alexis looked to the ground as she thought about Jaden's state
"Hmm… I guess that confirms my theory that Jaden can heal himself with his powers as well… though it seems that's not a conscious decision… which makes me wonder…" Marik trailed off as the water stopped
"Wonder what?" Alexis asked, turning her right cheek to the door
"If it's the powers saving him… or if it's Haou guiding the powers to save him" Marik said as he wrapped a towel around himself and started brushing his hair
"You think… Haou saved him last night?" Alexis asked, surprised
"I think it's very possible… see, everything I've seen him do with his powers had to be a decision. Yubel cannot just appear because she wants to, for instance. She appears when Jaden wills it" Marik said through the door
"Which makes me think that this is the same case… and seeing as Jaden was unconscious… I have a theory that our friend in shining armor carefully watched over him last night' Marik smiled in the mirror as he dressed
"Why? Doesn't Haou hate Jaden?" Alexis asked
"I'm not sure… but one thing is for certain. Haou does not live if Jaden does not live. They are connected… even if it wasn't for Jaden, it was for self-preservation" Marik said as he tried on Jaden's shades, apparently quite happy with the way they looked on him
"Come on… I need to see him" Marik said as he opened the bathroom door and ushered Alexis out of his room after putting the journal away
Later, In the hospital room
"Hello, Fonda" Marik greeted the school nurse
"Marik" Fonda smiled warmly
"He's… better. Much better, in fact," Ishizu sighed as she pointed to Jaden
"He… looks like a horse shit him out" Marik said quite seriously, making the girls laugh
"Yeah… he's been better, I'm sure. He's lost a lot of blood… he just needs some time to recover, is all" Fonda giggled
"Right… that's good. Thank you for… y'know… saving him" Marik smiled down at Jaden's expressionless face
"Yeah… that's what I do… you were helpful, though… getting him here much quicker than they did Atticus" Fonda smiled
"Lousy school boys are slow as hell, I guess" Marik shrugged
"Or more like you were hauling ass" Alexis giggled
"Maybe" Marik grinned
"What of the other boy? Anything yet?" Marik asked as he studied Atticus
"Nope… not yet. I honestly don't expect anything out of him this week at all… he's been put through hell… it's going to take at least a week, probably 2, maybe 3 to fix his system. His body has been starved of nutrients and energy for so long… it seems that spirit didn't need things as trivial as sleep" Fonda chuckled at the last part
"Wait… silence" Odion held up his index finger and looked around, squinting his eyes
"I… can sense it as well," Marik said aloud as he looked around the ceiling
"Piece of shit…" Marik mumbled as he stared at a bat
"Whoa!" Alexis jumped back as she noticed the red-eyed bat staring at them
"What is a bat doing in here!?" Fonda shrieked
"It's spying… eavesdropping… the second Shadow Rider is already here" Marik sighed
In a castle just off the coast of the island
"Hmm… what are my targets, my darlings?" Camula smirked as her eyes flashed with pictures of people
"Ah… so many good options! But who first?" Camula grinned as her eyes finally rested on Marik
"Ah… a real man… you… you will be my first" Camula giggled
With Marik
"Go… your presence is known, you will get no more information here" Odion called to the bat as it flapped away
"Spies… alert the others… though it's likely they've already been spied on without knowing it" Marik sighed
Alexis quickly texted her friends on her PDA
"Changing the topic…" Marik turned to his sister
"What're you doing here, Ishizu?" Marik smiled
"I've come to protect you," Ishizu said with a worried look in her eyes

Ok but real talk, I did Jaden pretty dirty. He's going to be down for a while… he will NOT be saving anyone's day anytime soon. I decided to push him to the brink of death so this way everyone fully grasps the situation. I don't want 4kids Shadow Riders… I want rated M Shadow Riders! My OC Shadow Riders will be particularly nasty… can't wait!
With Jaden down for a while, will the Key Keepers manage without the protection of the God Cards? Or are they not as unprotected as they think?
So, I actually debated uploading an entirely different chapter today seeing as it's Valentine's day… but I decided to stick with this. Happy Valentine's Day guys, hope you all enjoy yourselves! If you don't have a valentine, then… at least you have this story :D
Camula's got her sights set on Marik. Will he get his revenge for what happened to Jaden, or will he just be her first victim? Will she use dirty tricks like she tried in the show? Frankly, I'm pretty hyped to have Marik enter the dueling scene for real. I kinda teased it with the Abandoned Dorm, but this is the first-time other characters will get to see his 'brilliance.' Is he going to be a bundle of rage and knock down a bunch of Shadow Riders or have the Key Keepers bit off more than they can chew? SO MUCH GOOD STUFF COMING!
As you can probably tell from my retarded A/N's here I'm super excited. I've been looking forward to this chapter for quite a while and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Do you guys like Game Night? I could do other games too. I realized it's actually… really fucking hard to describe playing a drawing or acting game on paper… I'm doing my best though :/
So, side note for Triss. I realize a lot of you probably haven't read, played, or heard much of the Witcher series, but I've just started another Witcher III game up to play through and I'll be romancing Triss. It's been a while and I thought that I could get some ideas for her character from that while also enjoying myself so… just a useless bit of information there, I guess :D
