Chapter 21
Crystal
"What did you do?" asked Raven as he watched the witch turn into a tiny shiny ball in Leolin's hands. What kind of magic was that? was it a type that could kill any one that the crystal man did not like or was it something else, something more.
"I gave her a new fate" he said as he placed the small ball into a silver river that Leolin told Raven would lead to a nesting area and to where she would start her new life.
New fate what does that mean? why should she get a new fate. So many she has hurt, so many she has killed, she does not deserve a new life "What do you mean by that?" Raven asked as he watched th small ball float away.
"When the spirit light spell hit her, it allowed me to make two choices depending on what I found in her thoughts. I found a taint, long ago she was found by the nameless one, he defeated her in battle and took her soul in his grasp for safe keeping, twisting all she was, all she could have been into his puppet. Some time later a young wizard defeated the nameless one, locking him up inside the vaults of the light palace but Shotaha's taint remained. The last thing I felt and saw from her was a sad smile, and in turn I freed her from the horror of what she had seen and done, when I was done I melted the taint away"Leolin told Raven.
"So that ball..."Raven started to say as the world around them started to glow. Soon Raven found himself back in the real world with his friends all around him, everyone looked alright even Halt, who had been knocked out was waiting for him to come out of the crystal.
They all looked shocked at the crystal man that came out with Raven. All the wolves growled ready to attack the crystal man, only to have Raven say that it was all right, that this man was a friend and would not hurt them.
"As I was about to say Shotaha has been given a new life as a leolinea. She will learn for a few million years before her life really starts"said Leolin to the group.
"So there is no way for her to turn back into who she was? no way at all?" asked Naru coming closer to the crystal man.
"There might be, but in all my years I have not come across it myself, but who knows"answered Leolin with a shrug.
"Not if I am with you"said Raven looking at Leolin in the eye. He knew for the wizard world and the non magical world to be safe from Shotaha's evil and any that might come after her, he had to do what he was just about to do.
"What do you mean? are you talking about what you said before?"asked Leolin.
"Yes. The wizards and witches of this world will always fight over your kinds power. So to stop this I will join my power with yours if you don't mind"said Raven.
"Raven what are you going to do? what is this joining?" asked Will, his soft voice asking what all but two wanted to know.
"Bags and double bags! its not that hard to work out. My power will join with his, it will create a shield against all who we don't want to meet us, stopping the fighting for the Leolinus magic. Too many wizards have been killed because of this. Its just how it is and its not Leolin's fault, its no ones fault, but that now stops with me" Raven told them all snapping some of the words in anger at what some wizard's fate would have been if he had not made this deal. He knew that wizards were a dying breed.
"But what of you castle and its people? what of us? will you leave us too?" asked Halt.
Raven thought of the small dark birds that sang with the dawn. The wooded country side that spoke of animals, bugs and grey squirrels that chased each other up and down the pine trees of his cloud watching rock.
"Although I will miss my home, I know it will be in good hands. I am going to give it to you Halt. It will be up to you to watch over all who live there, for I believe they will need of your guidance in the future"said Raven.
"To that mission I would like to offer my help if you would have me, Halt"said Naru kneeling a little so he was at the same height as the wolf.
Halt looked at him in the eye before turning his attention on Will and Raven. Even Leolin was watching to see what he would do. Halt knew that it was now time for him to take command, he couldn't lean on Crowley anymore. It was time for him to lead the pack.
"Fine but why do you want to come with us? don't you have a family of your own?" asked Halt to Naru.
"No. I lost my world long ago but its time to start again. I like you and yours and would like to help you protect it. Also I can learn from the books and things that Raven has left at the castle, and I promise never to use the magic on the wolves of the castle ever. For if I do you may rip me apart and throw the pieces in the fire. Does this meet with your approval Halt?" asked Naru.
"It does" replied Halt.
"And even if Halt does not kill you, as true as toasted toads I will. For I will be watching and do not think that even though I will be here that I wont be able to do some thing to you" said Raven.
