Chapter 21: A Determined Son, The Ultimate Truth
Everyone stood to look at the boy as he made his dramatic scene into the battlefield. Back fresh from his training, he now begins to fight with them all on the feud. He jumps from the hilltop and lands next to Finn. He offered his father his hand, to which he accepts it. Looking at the enemies he'll be facing, he carefully analyzes each one, 3 giant monsters, Emma and Molly, Lucia and Myra, and a mysterious figure.
"So you're the mother then? Violet Tenebris am I correct?" Jay asked the woman. Everyone just looked at him in surprise and gasped. He wasn't even here when Violet came back, how would he know her?"
Violet only smiled at his question "Why yes I am. So you've been studying me huh? Then you know what I'm capable of." She said. Not taking her eyes off of him.
"Of course, I never focus on only the land of Ooo's history, I also indulge myself into studying the Night O Sphere." He said to her. He then diverted his attention to his family and friends. "Is everyone ok?" He asked.
"We're ok. Jay we need to tactically retreat, it's the only way we can..." Bubblegum spoke to him, but she was interrupted.
"No." He said sternly. "This is my fight to finish, I will continue this match alone. You're all battered and bruised, so let me do this on my own."
"Jay that's not a good idea, you're outnumbered if you do this, and you don't know what they're all capable of together, it's too risky and you'll get yourself killed." Bubblegum argued. This wasn't a good idea she thought. Hopefully she could talk him out of it.
Jay had two stones on his hand, he closed his hand, making it into a fist and he moves it around.
"Ms. Bubblegum, do you remember what you said to me that day?" She stayed silent, not knowing the answer yet."
"You told me that in chess, I was like the Rook. You said that my mind was more creative and more flexible than yours, you said that it reminded you of my intelligence. I said that you were the bishop. Not because of its movement, but rather how it was the same to your intelligence. Please Ms. Bubblegum-" He opened his hand and revealed two chess pieces, one the Rook and the other, the Bishop, made out of the stones he had in his hand. He walked to her and placed them on her hand.
"Please let me do this, I want to shoulder this all by myself." The look in his eyes said he was completely adamant about this.
"What are you gonna do?" She asked. Seeing that he was going through with it. There was no stopping him.
"I will handle this alone. Please all of you go."
"What do you think Finn?" Bubblegum asked. Everyone looked at him. Thinking about Jay then, and looking at him now. He makes his decision.
"Alright, but we're watching you, we all are." He answered. Everyone got out of the way, and watched the fight from a safe distance. They even took the time to recover. "Fair enough." He said, and walked toward his enemies. He could even see, Emma and Molly drooling over him. He just ignored it.
"The Tenebris family." He spoke to them. "I've read and heard all about you, and since my time in training, I realize how different you were in the past."
"What is this boy blabbering about?" Myra asked. Annoyed by his words.
"You are a special type of demon. It's rare that people like you exist, because they killed themselves off. I may not know the name of your kind. But I know each and everyone of them has a similar trait; if one comes back from the dead, they're entirely different from before. In resurrection, you become more powerful than you were, your power increase a great deal, and new abilities will be passed down to that individual. In other words, you were born weak, and you come back as a fighting machine. It's like a post-death evolution. Lucia, you demonstrated that from the moment I fought you." Violet smiled while Myra and Lucia were astonished by his words and knew what they were capable of. It was shocking to the sisters.
"Even if you found out about our secret and our bloodlines, it doesn't matter anymore." Myra said. She snapped her fingers and the monster with the battle ax came running at him with a roar. Raising its weapon up, he runs and he brings it down onto Jay. Dust filled where he was standing. Finn and the others gasped, but something else happened.
Jay happened to be lifting the ax, with one fingertip and he had an armor made out of the earth. The monster struggled to even crush him with its ax.
"What's going on?" Myra screamed. "He should've been dead, why is he even standing in the first place?"
'Alright, how do I go about this, if I let go it'll kill me with its axe. But maybe if he didn't have it, he'll be somewhat defenseless.' He then used his new power, and created lava from his fingertip and caused it to spread on the ax, melting the blade.
Finn and the others gasped. "How could he do that?" Finn said amazed.
"I don't know but I'm loving it." Jake said laughing a bit.
"He has four elements in his disposal, Water, Earth, Fire and Air. Maybe he learned to use it as a combination." That was Bubblegum's hypothesis to the question at hand.
"You're a beast that was fit for hand to hand combat, but if someone was using either mid or long range attacks, that's your weakness." The monstrous beast had used his hand and tried to swipe him. But he dodged the attack. Yet he wasn't on the ground anymore. The beast looked around once the beast checked his hands, it felt something pierce the back of its neck and it came out its throat on its other side. It ran up to his head, somewhat cutting it in half. The monster came down with a big fall. Jay was right in front of the monster.
"What was that?" Lucia asked.
"A blade infused with fire that made it not only long, but penetrable to even something as strong as him. Once he swiped me with his hand. I used as an opportunity to hide behind him and kill him silently." Jay said. Once Myra snapped her fingers again, the plant creature moved its vines. Jay felt the earth having a heartbeat. He threw two knifes at the plant, a successful hit. He quickly used flew up and cut off a vine that was in top of him. The vine had acid coming out of its wound, a small part got Jay in his right arm. He used water to heal his arm, making the pain and any marks go away. As if the wound never happened. He also looked at the plant regrowing its vine.
'This plant has acid pumping in its veins, if I cut him, I'll get inflicted with some damage, even if I did, it would be a lost cause, it could grow back anyway. He threw a knife to the ground, examining it closely. Seeing it rattle and vibrate, moving like a heartbeat or something.
'The plant has a mouth right? So it should've screamed once I cut its vine right off. It's like it was never even connected to its nervous system at all, its movement are like moving a line of streamers. Wait a minute, if his nerves aren't on its head, then maybe..." He stomped on the ground causing seismic activity to reveal the tree roots from the rubble, he created a whirlwind to lift the creature and make the earth that surrounded him to make shards and stakes, it got it at its roots, causing it to scream loudly. He had then created a fire dragon to attack and burn the plant.
He made a big stake out of the plant, freezing it with ice and launched it at the serpent, it got him, but it made two of them. Seeing that it was made of fire and can multiply when severed, he had blasted the two serpents with ice, causing them to freeze in place. He tapped a part of the ice, causing it to shatter into small specks of ice. All were merely shocked. He took out the three monsters as if it was nothing to him.
He turned to face his opponents, he had a murderous and wicked look smeared all over his face. His main focus wasn't on Emma or Molly, or even Myra, one caught his attention, Lucia.
That night, when he was beaten by her, the agonizing defeat, almost being pushed to Death's door, until the fight was interfered by none other than his father.
Hunson felt something wrong. "He's gone cold."
Everyone else looked at him, "Dad what are you talking about?" Marceline asked.
"I could feel something shifting inside him, Jay didn't become evil, but there's something else lingering in his mind."
"No way, you're lying! As if Jay would go cold and dark just like that!" Finn said. This prediction wasn't easy enough to hear.
"No, he's still the same Jay however, this surge of power he had just by looking at all of them enraged him a bit. You see, he's good, but this energy is beyond evil. My guess is that he's going to use merciless tactics and nefarious methods to win this match."
"Why would Jay go dark just like that?" Gummy asked. She was getting worried, what if her boyfriend became evil or worse?
"That fight with Lucia, that's why, I can also feel that it'll be temporary, he's going to get serious and he isn't going to go easy on her, he'll kill her, but it will be something gruesome. He wants revenge." Hunson concluded.
Jay was staring at Lucia, she was now his prey. Seeing that this wasn't a choice scenario, Lucia charged at Jay to give a blow to the stomach and it went through something else. A sculpted figure of Jay that was made completely of water had taken its place. Her fist was stuck, she fell into a trap. The water Jay had completely changed into a giant bubble of water, trapping Lucia within it.
Jay appeared from under the ground and smiled. He used two of his fingers to scratch the ground. It was like lighting a match. From his two fingertips, he had created a lightning bolt. He used his other hand to not only enlarge the bubble, but flood her lungs and mouth with it as well. At that moment, he fired the lightning bolt at the bubble of water. He watched proudly as Lucia thrashed and flailed in the water, the electricity not only shocked her from the outside, but the inside as well. For a mortal, this would've killed them, but for Lucia she had a severe shock.
The bubble broke down and spread across the ground. Lucia was left on the ground shaking violently.
"You're too slow." He grabbed her by the hair, lifted her up and gave her a bearhug. This time this hug was dangerous. For he had an armor made of earth and he set it on fire, it was like being in lava. Her screams were still audible, but they were slowly muting. After thirty seconds he released her. Her torso was scorched by the hug.
"You used my father, you tried to kill him and my mother, and for awhile me. I'm going to repay the favor, I've already decided to kill you, but go for a useless attempt to try to make me spare you." He grabbed her by the throat and bashed her head to the ground three times. "C'mon, go for it." He was about to use his hand to penetrate her heart until he heard sobbing.
"For Glob's sake die like a cold hearted evil bitch instead of crying like a little girl!"
"You should've been my son." She quietly said. Jay was aggravated. He threw her to the ground. "What are you talking about!" He screamed. She sniffled and then began to tell her story.
"When I was still with your father, there was a time where we took our relationship further. I didn't want to tell him, but I was pregnant with a baby boy. I was pregnant with you. And after all that revenge stuff, Finn fought with me and killed me and the baby. Now Marceline has you and I have nothing, I wanted you to be my son, even if my revenge was all that mattered, I always wanted to have a son with Finn. I wanted to be your mother." She answered. Still sobbing from her truth.
Jay didn't look at her. "Lucia." He mumbled, he then blasted her with a green aura that took the scorch marks away. "There, I've given you some of my energy that'll heal you partially, that's all you get from me, you're on your own. And even if I was your son, I would know from the beginning that my life with you would be a nightmare. Your desire for revenge brought you to this. You would've been a bad mother." He scolded. Hunson had scanned the boy once more, he then told everyone else that he calmed down and the rage inside him disappeared.
He walked away from her and focused on Emma and Molly. But they weren't on their spots, they vanished. It was then Emma came in front of him and Molly to the back. He had no time to dodge, block or evade, he needed to attack swiftly. Then a propulsion of wind surrounded him like a barrier and pushed the two away, causing the two to fall to the ground. Jay had now focused on Molly, his ex. He propelled her forward to him, changed the blade into a naginata and stabbed her right in the chest, even though she was a vampire like him, it hurt, but he wasn't planning on killing her yet. He threw the body at Emma and now focused on Myra.
"So the kid wants to fight me?! Well you should know, I'm not as submissive as my sister. She threw a fireball right at him, and he repelled her fireball with an even bigger one. The fireball hit her and burned her clothes. She had started to surround her fists with fire and started to attack Jay. Every time she tried to hit him he would dodge it like it was nothing. When he was dodging, he was talking to her.
"You say that you are one of the smartest in the family, but all I see is a joke. They say you have a brilliant mind, but compared to me, your genius is rather insipid mediocrity. You're predictable and easy to read. How is Myra Tenebris similar to a blank dictionary? Simple, they're both at a loss for words." After that last sentence, Myra had shot a fireball at him from point-blank range. When the fireball vanished and the smoke cleared. Jay was nowhere to be seen. Myra believed that she incinerated the boy.
"Stupid little smart mouth. You couldn't escape that now could you?" It was then something sprouted from the ground, dragged her under and beaten senseless under the cover of darkness. The only thing that even showed was her head, the rest of her body was buried in the ground.
"I'm smarter than you Myra, looks like you're not the number one genius anymore." Emma and Molly got up to attack him again. He was annoyed by their persistence. He had thought of an idea. He made a small fire from both his fingertips, exposed it to the earth and created lightning in both hands, he fired the lightning bolts that looked like twin tigers at the two. It hit them both before they even knew it.
"Lightning flashes in one-one thousand millisecond. It's faster than sound. If you're dealing with someone who conjures lightning, then be wary." He turned his head to face Violet.
"You're all alone Violet. No one can help you now." She giggled at his comment. She twirled her hair while smirking.
"I know something about you and a couple other things. You were basically the doctor of the family am I right? You exposed yourself to the knowledge of various medicines and poisons." Where was he driving at? What was Jay getting into with this woman?
"But of course, It's amazing how you, a child had discovered this, I mean, Hunson should've figured it out by now."
"There's a potion I've learned about years ago, I hope this sounds familiar to you, this potion is used to increase an individual's aggression level. It's effects would last for an almost unlimited amount of time, unless if one defeats the victim ruthlessly in battle, like a cure. The potion can make even the pure hearted aggressively evil."
"I remember that potion, yes... I used it on your Grandfather." Everyone gasped. What was she even saying?
"I guess I can't keep it a secret any longer, let me tell you the truth behind our feud. The truth about everything." Violet took a deep breath, looked at the boy and licked her lips hungrily. "The Night O Sphere has its history just buried in peoples minds or the books that tell of the previous times. Since you're focused on us, I don't need to keep it a secret any longer, you know of my affiliations with my husband and my children. My husband and I were indeed lovers, we loved each other deeply and I found out that he was becoming a government official. Since then, he needed to be risen above others, which made this easy for the both of us. For a year, I had poisoned several officials so he could become more important. No one even suspected a thing. Once 'surpassing' his officials he now had what he needed to become an important candidate of the throne. The problem was that he felt unsuitable for the throne at the time. He didn't even know about the poisons I've used to support him. I influenced him with methods of my own to ready him. But even I knew in the future, he would step down whenever he had enough. I couldn't let that happen, I could let his doubts become my downfall. Truth be told, I wanted the throne, if my husband was there, sure but if he was willing to give it up so easily, I had to stop that. This would lead onto how your dear old grandfather became evil. After his beloved wife had passed and months came by, I decided to accompany him, I seduced him into drinking a wine glass spiked with the same poison you spoke of boy. Once he took a sip, I fled and waited for him to kill the rest, including my husband. Realizing our ancestors power if reborn, I poisoned myself and waited slowly to die. When that happens I could use my daughters to kill Hunson and her daughter just for a little sport, to leave my mark on this world. Power was right in our grasp, and he wanted to throw it away for himself and for the people. I wanted it all, to rule in my own image, become the Queen of the Night O Sphere in my new perfected body."
Everyone looked at Violet, this was too much to even handle, if this was her version of a joke, it wasn't funny, in fact it was disgusting. Lucia and Myra looked at their mother shocked and petrified, they finally found out the truth, but there was one thing they had to know.
"Mother! What about us?! Your own daughters! Were we just nothing to you?!" She smiled at her daughters and answered her.
"Your birthright was to help consolidate my plan and murder anyone who would abet my legacy, my rule. If you had died, then it wouldn't matter anything to me one bit. You two were only common mistakes at birth, if you tried to escape this fate, you would've thrown away your only purpose."
"And what about father, why would you betray him like that?!"
"Simple, I didn't want to rule by his side, I wanted the power for myself, and even if it meant killing the man I loved, then I will carry out my wishes as desired." Lucia and Myra shook and stayed in place. Just common mistakes at birth?!
"Your father was the only one who ever showed you love, now then, now that the boy knows and the two of you. She raised her arm and was about to strike until Lucia got up and slashed her mothers arm.
"No matter what happens, I won't let you touch this boy." Lucia attacked her mother, trying to cut any vital point that was revealed. With her last strike, she made a small cut on her cheek, Violet was angered and slapped her daughter across the face, making her fly across the area. Jay used his wind to propel himself forward and caught her before she slammed into the wall behind him.
"The boy is the only one I wish to fight, this false grandson of mine. I'll be taking these two and be on my way." Snakes retracted from her arms, wrapped themselves around Emma and Molly, dragging the two toward her and disappearing in a flash of light.
Jay was about to be in pursuit, until he heard Lucia groaning in his arms. He had to take care of some things first, then be on his way.
