As I stirred in the morning, I opened my eyes and saw Emmett was still there and looking at me.

Emmett smiled and said, "Good, you didn't scream for me to leave today."

"No, I didn't," and as I got up to go to the bathroom, Emmett was right beside me holding my arm.

He asked, "Are you okay?"

"Yes, as soon as I get up every morning, I have to go to the bathroom, remember I'm pregnant."

"I can understand that."

As I came out of my bathroom, Dr. Kate Denali came in and said, "You look no worse for the wear from yesterday."

"No, I feel okay. Yesterday wasn't as good, I felt like everything got all moved around inside of me; but after last night's sleep and staying in bed, everything settled down."

"Good. Climb up in your bed and lay down so that I can look at all your war wounds."

As she went to work and cleaned the claw marks. She told Emmett what she was doing and what he would have to do. "Emmett, she can only use unscented and disinfectant soap. I have some at my office you can pick up. Plus you'll also use peroxide and Neosporin as well on the wound."

"There is a little bruising from your amnio and blood draw, but you seem okay so I'm not worried."

Chapter 21

"How much water can you drink in the next hour while I check on your test results?"

"Why?"

"I want to do an ultrasound before you go home."

"How much do I need to?" I asked excitedly.

"4 of your water bottles."

"Emmett, go get me some more."

"I'll order up the machine and a tech."

"Can I eat breakfast?"

"Just have a piece of toast for now."

"I need your bladder full, not your stomach. Get drinking and I'll be back."

All too soon a tech and Dr. Kate returned. Together, they started working together and half an hour later Emmett and I heard, "Aha."

"Aha, what I asked?"

"Do you want to know if it's a boy or a girl?"

I looked at Emmett and he smiled, "Yes, but what about you?"

"Yes, I want to know, too. I had already decided on that."

Dr. Kate turned the monitor and showed us, "It's a girl, 100%. The amnio told me; but I wanted to wait and have the tech show you."

I reached up and touched the screen saying, "Hi Emma." Hoping Emmett would like the name I picked for his daughter.

Emmett's hand touched mine and said, "I love you and I love you, Emma." He pulled my hand back and said, "I'm honored, Bella." I let go of the screen and wiped away the tear from his cheek. I could see the excitement in his eyes.

Kate uh hummed us and said, "Can we finish up?"

"Sure."

They finished taking a few more measurements, then they cleaned off my belly and started packing up. Dr Kate started talking about the amnio results and I put up my hand. "Sorry, Bella. I I always forget about that, go to the bathroom."

"Emmett, help please." He scooped me up and carried me to the bathroom.

Once I was done, I walked back to my bed and Dr. Kate started over. "There is no sign of any blood poisoning or other health problems as a result the bear attack. The two of you are perfectly healthy. Looking at Emma's height and weight today, all that looks good. You can go home after lunch today, but any signs of problems with the cuts I want you in my office or here."

Emmett asked, "Dr. Kate, Bella has asked to stay here in the area until she delivers which is fine by me; but I have one concern especially because of her due date and the weather around here then. She is due in the middle of February. We are two hours to the Juneau hospital on a sunny summer day and you don't do deliveries here unless it's an emergency in the clinic, what happens if she goes into labor in a blizzard?"

"You bring her to town on a snow mobile. Emmett, in all seriousness, this state does the most home births for a reason. If I can get to her, via snow mobile to help I do. If all else fails, we have called out the National Guard. You can always go down to the lower 48 states, I understand. I have probably a ΒΌ of my patients go south. The other option is to go into Juneau for the last month or so."

"Thank you, Dr. Kate. Bella and I will talk about it and let you know."

"You're welcome. Emmett, you know how most women have a pregnancy glow."

"Yes."

"Bella is glowing twice as much today."

"Kate, stop. Don't tell him that."

"But it's true. Let me go work on your discharge papers. A general practice doctor will check on you before you leave."

"I can have dinner at home tonight."

"Yes, you can. Emmett, I want Bella in my office in two days."

"Yes, Dr. Kate. I will be by later today for the soap."

"Great memory, Emmett. I'll see you then. Now Bella, take it easy."

"Can I still go for walks?"

"Not for a week or so but you can add one other thing to your days. Sit outside with your claw marks open to the sun to heal for a total of an hour a day."

"Yes, Kate."

"Now both of you go, I'm okay. You have other patients to see and you have to find us a house."

"I'll see you both soon," and Dr. Kate was gone.

Emmett said, "Do you mind if I borrow your shower?"

"No problem, but I miss your shower and our showers."

Emmett leaned over and said, "That was evil." He kissed me and walked away saying, "Delicious."

Twenty minutes later, Emmett was gone and I was eating a real breakfast. It was so cute. I realized I fell in love with him even more because he called me from every house he went to and told me about them as he walked through them. In four hours he was back, the general practitioner had already been in to check on me and I was free to go. Emmett and a nurse pushed me towards the exit of the clinic. Emmett led us to a Chevy Blazer.

"Emmett!"

"It's not, what you think."

"Then, what is it?" I said as I climbed in.

"It's just a rental and with it cooling off quickly now, I wanted something easy for transporting you in. It's 4 wheel drive. Now sit back and relax while I drive us to Leah and Jake's house.

We were finally on the road driving away from the hospital and I had seen no one following us. "Emmett, please can you pull over for a minute?"

"Why? Are you okay? Do I need to take you back to the hospital?"

"No, I'm great; just please pull over."

He did and once the car was in park, he leaned towards me and I latched onto his delicious lips like when we kissed in Hawaii. Emmett carefully put his hands around me above my stitches and pulled me in close to continue our kiss. Slowly, he pulled back and smiled at me saying, "That's the Bella, I love."

I said with my own smile, "You're the man that I love."

"I'm so glad I got you out of the hospital and I got my Angel, Bella back."

Half an hour later, we pulled into Leah and Jake's place. Emmett and I both started getting out of the Blazer and I heard the kids heading through the front door yelling for me.

EmPOV

I looked up as the front door opened and saw all four kids coming at us. I had to get to Bella to protect her especially from the boys. I moved very quickly to beat the boys thank god for the long drive way. I got in front of Bella before the boys reached her and put my hands on my hips and yelled, "Freeze." They all did; I was quite impressed. Then I continued, "Bella has very large cuts and stitches on her sides so no hugging is allowed of Bella, but I'll take all her hugs for now." I could feel Bella peaking around me and I saw Jake and Leah looking at the whole scene unfolding. I was then attacked by all four kids and it was so much fun. I soon saw Bella standing over near Leah and Jake. I grabbed up both boys like sacks of potatoes and started walking towards the house. The girls giggled and followed along. I put the boys down on the porch and said, "Let's get Bella inside and sitting down to rest and warm. Then you can give her gentle hugs and kisses if you want."

As we moved into the house, the oldest daughter said, "I'm Kristin. Are you really McCarty?"

"Yes, I am, but you can call me Emmett, if you would like."

"I'll be right back," and soon she came back with my CD in her hand and asked, "Will you sign this?"

"Of course."

Leah helped Bella sit down and put pillows on her sore side and then the kids did give her kisses and I also met Robert, Taylor and Ashley. Robert asked, "Bella, can I see what the bear did to you?"

"Okay, as long as you remember all your father's warnings and follow them every day."

"Deal."

I helped Bella lay down and she raised her shirt enough to show the boys. They, of course, thought it was cool.

BPOV

Emmett finally let me into the kitchen to help Leah. After she promised, I would be sitting on a stool helping. We had a great dinner and when Ashley asked with the perfect pouty face, "Emmett, would you sing us a song?"

He couldn't turn her down, ran out and got his guitar. After an hour long sing along, I started drifting off and Leah shoed us to the guest house. Once inside, I collapsed into my recliner and said, "Finally."

"Finally, what?"

"I'm just happy to be completely alone with you. I'm tired, too."

"Well," then he scooped me up and said, "Point me towards the bedroom."

I pointed in the direction and said, "First, I'd like to wash my hair before I go to bed."

"I know how to do that."

Emmett sat me on the bed and said, "Put on a bikini and I'll meet you in the bathroom."

"I hope you're ready for how ridiculous looking I'll be; but if you don't care, I don't either. I can't wait to wash my hair."

Emmett simply looked at me and said, "You're perfect, the mother of my child." Then he slipped away to set up the bathroom for me.

I changed and looked at myself with my belly hanging over the bottoms. Emmett was already in the bathroom waiting for me with a plastic chair sitting in the shower. Emmett turned and looked at me with a smile on his face.

"Why are you smiling like that?" I asked.

"Because you look adorable and beautiful, my Angel. Now come here and sit down on your shower chair." Emmett then told me to lift up my arms and he wrapped saran wrap around my belly. "You're so cute," and he kissed my head. "Now lean over your belly and I'll get your hair washed." Emmett gently washed my hair. After he rinsed it for the last time, he then twisted the towel around my hair and helped me sit back up." My top fell down as I sat up. "Mr. McCarty, what happened to my top?"

"The knot must have slipped out," he smiled, laughed and scooped me up out of the tub and carried me to the bed. He used another towel to dry my body. Emmett untied the remainder of my bikini and pulled it away with an evil smile. Next he removed the saran wrap and threw it at my trash can. He cleaned my wound like Kate had told him and gently covered it back up. He leaned down and kissed the gauze covering and then kissed his way over to my ever growing belly. He worked his way up to my breasts where he admired them and covered them with kisses. He continued his trail up to my lips and neck. I opened the kiss and demanded entrance past his lips I was so turned on I was rubbing my legs to get some friction. I had missed this so much and his touch. It didn't take long for Emmett to help me remove my bikini bottom and then I helped him remove his clothes and we easily came together reigniting our love and bond.

"Bella, Angel, I won't be able to last long," he growled into my ear.

"Emmett, that's fine I've missed you and I need you. We have all night and the rest of our lives to make love."

"I love you, Bella," as he slid into me keeping his weight off of my belly.

I moaned and all too soon cried out, "Emmett," from his thrusting into me.

Emmett saying, "Oh fuck, Bella," and he exploded into me. He pulled out and pulled me in close to him and brushed my hair away from my face. He kissed my cheek and said, "I love you."

"Emmett, I'm sorry, I lied to you."

"What did you lie about?"

"That I wasn't sure how I felt about you being here, but this feels so right. That's why I gave you that kiss outside the hospital."

He pulled up next to my ear and said, "I'm glad because I have missed this."

I rolled into his arms to face him and whispered, "Even with my expanding waist line."

"Yes, even with that."

"Now do you have a night shirt any where?"

"No, I don't; but I keep these close when I sleep," and I pulled out his t-shirt and boxers from under my pillow."

"You sneak."

"Actually, Emmett, I've never worn them; I just kept them under my pillow. I've been sleeping like you convinced me when we first started."

Emmett interjected, "Making love."

"Yes."

"So the last four months, you've been sleeping alone in this cabin naked," Emmett gulped out.

"Yes. I missed this," gesturing between him and I. Emmett pulled me in close against him. I laid my head on his chest and said, "Emmett, a word of warning, just always put on a robe or pajamas before you leave the room. Once in a while, the kids sneak over and wait in the living room for me."

"I will and now go to sleep the mother of my child," and for the first time in a while, he sang me to sleep which felt so right as I peacefully fell asleep.
