I missed you guys so much! So I think this time I have a legit excuse. I started college! Yea! (Not) I've had so much work to do it's not even funny. But today I got out of class early and sat down and wrote all this in like two hours. So trust me there are probably so mistakes! Actually I'm positive. But I hope you like it.

[Chapter 21]

It had been three days, three long days of Vinci being in charged. She was tired, her feet hurt and every time she got more paperwork she wanted to cry. She knew it wouldn't have been so bad if there was someone else that was also qualified to handle paperwork but there wasn't. It was just her.

She'd get up in the morning by eight, take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast and then start on her roll of being bossa. Vinci handled things from assigning missions, getting mission reports, doing personal meetings with members and trying to somehow find a way to take care of herself. Though Mrs. Sterling seemed to do that part for her more than she'd like to admit.

Cleaning off the table for breakfast Mrs. Sterling mumbled to herself. Everything was changing too fast for her. Just a few days ago Varia was a rowdy group of assassins who didn't understand what it meant to be respectful. Now the mansion was quiet and when Vinci walked by she saw the members bow their heads. They did their work on time and tried to stay out of each other's ways.

Mrs. Sterling shoved her rag into her apron and turned heading towards the main foyer to see if mail had arrived. The other maids worked diligently as she walked past cleaning picture frames, and vacuuming the carpet. Turning the corner she walked into the foyer and grabbed the door knob to the front door. Opening it she walked out and saw that the mailbox was overfilled.

While she was struggling with the mail behind her the gates opened. The sleek black limo drove around the fountain and parked at the bottom of the stairs. Mrs. Sterling turned and saw the limo. She stared at the limo wondering who it could be. The driver got out and jogged around to open the door. A gasp left her lips when she saw the true Varia boss get out.

"Mrs. Sterling you came to greet us?!" Lussuria cheered waving at the older lady as he got out of the car. When they were all out the car Mrs. Sterling noticed they looked perfect. Not even a scratch.

"Welcome back" She bowed opening the door for them.

Suddenly Mrs. Sterling heard someone scream her name. It was unquestionably female but Vinci wouldn't be up at a quarter to seven. One of the younger maids ran down the stairs with tears in her eyes. "S-She just...go-got so angry. W-We don't know…what t-to d-do."

Mrs. Sterling rushed over to her trying to calm the poor girl down. "What happened?"

The girl sniffed taking a deep breath. "We were working and one of the members walked by and knocked on her door. He then walked in and then not even a minute later we heard him scream. Then she started yelling and then called for you."

"Ushishishi~ I wonder what's been happening since we've been gone?" Bel asked squeezing Mammon closer to his chest. The arcobaleno grunted at the grip on him. "Is there something you aren't saying, peasant?"

Footsteps stomped down the steps quickly followed by a bunch of mumbled that could have been understood if the person wasn't talking so fast. Vinci skid into the foyer shuffling through papers. Her hair was messed up and she didn't have her sunglasses on. Around her neck she wore a bandage and her body was adorn in only a red wine colored dress shirt. It ended about mid-thigh and it fell off one shoulder but she was more concerned about finding the head maid then her appearance.

"This can't be happening?! Why now? They couldn't have picked a better time? Assholes…" She rambled on nervously. Looking up from the papers she spotted Mrs. Sterling. "There you are! We have a problem." She said.

"Um…ma'am behind-." Mrs. Sterling started but Vinci waved her off.

"That's not important right now." She said shoving the papers into the younger maids' hands. "Put those in my office would you?" The girl nodded and rushed off.

"Mrs. Sterling the meeting has been moved up to today so I need everything to be ready. We also ran out of Vodka last night so I need you to order some more. While you're doing that I need Squalo's right-hand man in my office this afternoon." Vinci stated counting off her fingers of the things she needed done.

Mrs. Sterling stared at the girl. It was obvious she barely got any sleep. Purple bags were starting to form underneath her eyes and her skin was growing a bit pale. She also knew the girl wasn't eating all of her meals and preferred to drink. It looked like the job of being boss was taking its toll. Her eyes left the girl to behind her. The rain guardian looked like he was about to explode.

"VOI! What the hell is going on?!" Squalo screamed.

Vinci turned and glared at her brother. "Squalo I am trying to do something right now. Come back when I'm done." She looked back at Mrs. Sterling and smiled. "Now make sure everybody is…well…behaved..."

Closing her eyes Vinci put a finger to her lips. "Mrs. Sterling?"

"Yes ma'am"

"Am I dreaming?" She asked feeling a heated glare on her back. Vinci was a hundred percent positive it wasn't Squalo.

"No"

"I see" Spinning on her heel she started heading back up the stairs. "I'll be in my room. Wake me up when this is over."

Arms wrapped around her waist and lifted her up in the air swinging her around. "Oh dear you look so cute!" Lussuria squealed. Finding her feet against Vinci pulled her shirt down.

"Thank you Lussuria but I need-."

"And you have such pretty eyes! Why do you cover them up?" Lussuria asked grabbed her face. Vinci withheld herself from smacking the man.

"Because people stare now let go." She demanded.

"Ushishishi ~ so this is what you were hiding." Bel said.

Mrs. Sterling turned towards him. "Of course not. The boss placed her in charge himself."

Damn it! Vinci could feel the glare on her worsen. He was certainly pissed off now. "Mrs. Sterling I'll handle this. Why don't you go and get everything ready for our guest."

The maid nodded and left her to the dogs. Taking a deep breath Vinci looked towards the Varia elites. "I have very important people coming today so if anything stay out of the way." With that she left up the stairs to get ready.

Xanxus watched her climb back up the stairs. She didn't dare to look at him. He knew she knew he was angry. She always could feel it. From the corner of his eye he saw his loyal scum yelling at each other. Turning on his heel he headed off to the dining room to get himself something to eat and later he'd head off to his room knowing she'd be there. Xanxus was positive she wouldn't have stayed anywhere else.

Vinci bent over trying to make sure she had her eyeliner on correctly. She didn't usually put on make-up. She found it was a waste of her time. So she whenever she did put it on she had to make sure it was on correctly not wanting to leave looking retarded. Shrugging, she flicked the light off and left the bathroom to finish getting dressed. She had on a black strapless dress that came down to her mid-thigh. A thick red belt wrapped around her waist, a red ribbon was tied perfectly around her neck and red high heels pushed her a few inches higher.

Vinci sprayed her perfume on and played with her hair before taking a deep breath. She couldn't believe Xanxus was home. It already scared the hell out of her that he knew she'd been in control and hadn't said anything but knowing that she had lied (Which in reality Livia did) to get in was worse.

A knock sounded on the door before opening. Vinci looked to see Mrs. Sterling smiling at her. "Our guest have just arrived what would you like me to take them?" She asked.

"Don't worry about it I'll handle them. Thank you."

Mrs. Sterling nodded holding the door open so Vinci could walk pass. Hearing the clicking of the door closing behind her she realized there was no turning back. The head maid left Vinci to her thoughts.

Xanxus stared at the men in front of him. They were all crowded in the middle of the hallway blocking him from getting to his room. They all were dressed in dress pants and shirts that coordinated with their flames. Sending them a glare they bowed. "Varia boss we didn't know you were back."

Xanxus didn't respond back. How the hell did they know he had been gone on a mission? He heard someone jog down the stairs from behind him and knew it was her. "Woman"

"I'm sorry but I haven't had the time to tell the boss that you were coming by." Vinci said coming to stand next to him. Xanxus let his eyes leave the men in front of him to her. A growl started to come from his throat when he saw what she was wearing but with a quick look from her, he stopped.

"The boss has just gotten back and isn't fit to have a meeting at the moment. So I hope you don't mind if I take it from here?" She asked but seeing no negative reactions she smiled. "If you'll go down this hall. Take the first left and the meeting room will be the second door the right."

As the group of men left following her directions Vinci felt his burning hand on her wrist. "Boss?" She teased.

"What the fuck are you wearing? Go change now." Xanxus hissed turning her so she was facing him.

Roughly she yanks her wrist from his grip. "Look…"she said reached up to fix his tie. "…why don't you go take a shower and let me handle them? They obviously never had a woman in charge and it'll be a good change. Besides no one likes Squalo yelling in their face." Patting his shoulder she walked around him and left.

"Damn woman." He muttered to himself before going up to his room.

Vinci sank back down in her chair as she watched the door close. Her head was pounding from all the arguing and she could really use some Vodka right now. Looking at the clock she saw it was about a quarter to one. Sighing she used what was left of her strength to stand up from the chair and head towards her room. Of course the usual time to getting to her destination is about a minute but it took her at least five. Opening the door she ignored everything else and landed on the bed.

Her papers hit the floor in a mess but she didn't care. Grabbing a pillow she brought it to her chest and squeezed it. "Get the fuck off my bed."
