Hallo! It's been two months! I have no idea if people are still reading this story. If you are, coolio! Sorry for all the mistakes and tribute to R&R
Jack
What Davis didn't know was that I was in no rush to find him and embarrass myself. Instead, I hunted down these dummies and practiced on them. It took a while, I even heard Melissa scream from her fight as she practiced, but I eventually found a good feel for the heavy blade. I admired the sleekness of the silver, the softness of the leather handle, the sound of vibrating metal as it struck a dummy. I've wanted something like this my whole life, my own weapon. The novelty of owning something symbolized my growth, I am no longer a boy but a man. What boy owns a weapon? Only an idiot hands out weapons to those not worthy of handling such a thing, so by that logic I must be worthy. Maybe Claire'll like me now, she must be impressed. Heck, any girl could be impressed. I'm the man!
After groveling in my ego for a good half hour and hacking at dummies for another, I took another twenty minutes to track down someone on the stage (and just to note, I heard Melissa scream, and I did hesitate before I continued to try to track someone down, but I assumed it was just because she was a big scaredy cat). Davis was waiting for me at his starting position when I arrived. I could tell he was bored from the way he looked. His eyes practically jumped out in jubilation when he saw me. Not to mention how bored he sounded when he spoke something about proving myself. I didn't really listen, it didn't matter. He stood patiently after his speech of sorts, waiting. I challenged him by doing nothing. I stared right back, I would break his patience. This was my first act of showing superiority. I didn't care he had years more training than I. I didn't care that he had the range advantage. I had a sword, I could do anything.
Finally, Davis gave in. He notched his arrow and fired at me. Content that I managed to outlast him, I dodged the arrow. I dodged it! Nothing could stop me now, I'm freaking invincible. I could see it now, Jack Jackson beats Davis Yu! Full of determination, I charged Davis. I swung my sword relentlessly at Davis, I will defeat him and prove that I am superior! But I noticed that none of my swings were landing, Davis was dodging them all! This is an insult to my power! I swung harder and faster, each swing after another. Davis dodged them all! How could he dodge them all? I was swinging as fast as I could. I locked eyes with him and I saw, he looked bored! How dare he?
I took one last massive swing and finally felt a refreshing tingle as my blade hit something solid, but it was far too low and to the side. I looked toward my blade and saw that it hit the floor. I looked up to see Davis staring right back with an arrow notched.
I managed to let out a totally uncool, "Gyak!" before the arrow was released and cut through the air until it burrowed itself into my chest.
I awoke on a little bed with pristine white sheets. I tried to get up, but my body exploded with pain as my whole torso was sore. Slowly, I got up and looked around. There was a small table next to my bed with a tin cup. I didn't check it considering I had other problems to deal with, like the fact that I was shirtless and had a Hello Kitty band aid on my chest. Then walked in Davis, Suzuki, Constance, and (ugh) Melissa.
"Hey bro, how you healing up?" Davis asked as he amiably walked up next to the bed, "A-okay?"
"You killed me! How am I not dead? You shot me in the chest! How could you do that!" I croaked out. I looked to my left to see Constance smirking and the other two girls giggling. What was so funny?
"Dude, that didn't 'burrow into your chest'. It was a Tranq-Arrow. It has a cylindrical tip with a very small point in the center that is dunked in a tranquilizing liquid, don't ask what liquid; trade secret. The cylindrical tip keeps the arrow from going through you, only letting the point penetrate the skin. Plus, how would you know that it burrowed into your chest? It knocks out the target almost instantly, you wouldn't even know whether it even hit you." Dave responded, showing off an arrow which he described.
"Um...that's what I saw. It was a freaking arrow, which looked normal in my defense, that was shot at me, what was I supposed to think!"
"Looked normal? Like a normal arrowhead? I made sure to pause a moment so you'd see it wasn't a normal arrow head..."
Then Constance came into the conversation, "Oh, that might've been me, I got bored and thought I'd have some fun with my illusions after Melissa's battle was over." She said with her mischievous smile.
"You made him panic like that!? How could you, Constance! He thought I shot an actual arrow at him!" Davis exploded at Constance. They promptly started arguing as usual. I looked at the arrow in Davis' hand and did notice that it was pretty obvious that it wasn't an arrowhead. The cylindrical tip was very prominent, but I was positive I saw an arrowhead…
We're reaching close to the end of this story because my writing partner and I decided to start over! (Like, forty something pages in) I believe we've written about 25 chapters and then we might start posting chapters, depending on how much is written by then. We're kind of at a writer's block because we have a beginning, but we're not really sure how to go about continuing... Hopefully I remember to post again soon. If not, remind me!
Thanks for reading~
