Lola Martinez let out a breath as she came into the bathroom. Reaching the sink, she placed her hands on the sides, and stared at her mirror. Turning on the faucet, she took some water and splashed her face. Going to the rack, she pulled the towel off and dried the water off her face, and then flung it over her shoulder. She turned off the water, and just stared back at her reflection.
Lola couldn't believe the predicament Tori and Robbie put themselves in. She couldn't believe that they would ever do something like this. That they would actually run away from home and do God knows what. Lola always thought the two of them were realistic in their relationship, she thought they had a great relationship with Tori's parents. That despite some problems they had with the world, Lola always thought they were in good standing within the Vega home. It still blew her mind that both David and Holly had no problem with Tori and Robbie having sex on a regular basis either. In short, she never felt that Tori and Robbie would actually do something like what they did. By God, they only had to wait twelve hours before they actually got back to PCA…
But no…
They didn't do that, did they?
They just up and left, and it was throwing both Vega parents into hysterics…
Damn. That night alone in their house was rough too. Lola had a hard time trying to get some sleep. Only because she kept hearing Holly and David arguing back and forth about what happened with Tori and Robbie, about their sudden departure, and how the last day unfolded for all the Vegas. It was ludicrous.
Dammit…
There was too much going on last night, and she didn't want to interrupt any of it. She had no place in it. It was a discussion between David and Holly, and all she could do was bury her head under the pillow and pray that morning would come soon so she could actually head back to school, and not deal with what was really happening within the Vega house.
She couldn't do anything about it. She couldn't tell them that she knew that Tori and Robbie ran away, and that they had no intention on coming back. It was mind-blowing enough. Yet one fact remained. It was now 6:40 at night, and she had yet to hear anything from them either. "Where the fuck are you guys?" She asked her reflection.
She groaned, and shook her head. Turning around, she leaned against the sink and stared at the wall. "I don't even know if you're okay or not..." She said in a lowered tone. "And I thought I was one of your girls, Robbie…"
It was only a matter of moments until she heard a knock on the door. "Lola?"
Lola glanced at the closed door, "Yeah, Zoe?"
"The Vegas are coming. They want to speak to us."
"Great…" She generally cursed. Knowing full well more drama was about to unfold, and she for one didn't want to deal with any of them right now. She already got enough from last night. "Are they actually here?"
"They're on their way. They just pulled into the parking lot."
Lola let out a sigh, and went for the door. She opened it, and looked at the concerned friend. "I'm going out."
"Lola, why?" She asked. "The Vegas…"
"Zoey, I got enough of them last night. Look, I just can't be here right now when they come up. I'll be back…" But even before Zoey could get another word in edge-wise, she left.
Lola opened the door, and closed it within seconds. Taking out her phone, she quickly went through the numbers, and there was only one person she could call and deal about this insanity. But she knew that any communication between them could only suffer more drama and any possibility between communication between her and anyone that Tori and Robbie knew would cause suspicion.
Forcing out a sigh, she needed another phone. But any phone that linked between her dorm, or the boy dorm would likely be a phone that Detective Vega would search would be a no go. Lola needed one phone that was…
And then her mind clicked. She needed a payphone, and the closest one was behind Butler Hall. Lucky enough, it wasn't near the parking lot either. So, hopefully she wouldn't get the chance to run into the Vegas…
"We really need to go to the grocery store." Tori said as she pulled out a bottled water, followed by another. "We don't have much to work with here." She closed the cooler, and made her way to a chair where she noticed her fiancée sitting in an opened position.
Robbie took the water bottle that was offered to him, and was soon rewarded to find Tori taking the initiative, and sitting down in his lap. Unscrewing the lid, he took a swig, and nodded. "We have allot to do, Babe. And so much of what we can do is on a limited budget. My comic book money can only last us for so many days…"
Tori sighed, "I don't like that you pawned away some of your books."
Robbie hugged Tori closer to him. "We needed money, Tori. And I'm okay with what we did."
"But you worked hard on collecting those. It's a part of your childhood."
Robbie shrugged, "My childhood wasn't all that good. You know that." He noticed how she about to say something. "But it doesn't matter. A, we needed untraceable money. B, it's only money. And if it keeps us alive, then that is what I'm okay with spending it on." He leaned over, and kissed her cheek. "You gotta realize. You are my top priority. I will do everything in my power to keep you sane and healthy. I can't do this on my own, and… Tori, we both gave up allot to make this work. That is where my heart is, Babe. To keep you alive and healthy."
Tori couldn't help but smile. "I love you, you know that, right?"
"I live everyday to hear those words." He reasoned. "Now…" He took a sip of his water, and looked to his right. Logan's folder rested upon the coffee table. "We gotta look at the folder."
Tori nodded, knowing he was right. Taking herself a swig, she closed the bottle, and put it on the table, next to the remaining remnants of the food they just ate from dinner. "Ok…" She took her left hand and grabbed the folder. Bringing it to where they were seated, she opened it and started to go through the papers that Logan helped forge. "We got the ideas. Noah Parker and Karen Stacy. We got birth certificates, we got high school diplomas…"
"Where'd we go anyway?" Robbie asked.
Tori looked at the papers. "Hillside Prep…"
"Where's that?" Robbie asked, taking the diploma with his name on it, looking at Noah Parker's old school.
"I dunno…" Tori told him. "But at least we graduated high school, and together. That's good. Even if we have to have these fake names, I still want to be tied to you."
"I'm not going anywhere." He kissed her cheek again.
"I don't want you to go anywhere that isn't with me." She said to him sweetly. "And as for what else we have here, we got Blue Dove for medical insurance. This one is going to have to be looked at more closely. We also have two jobs lined up…"
"What type of jobs?" He asked.
Tori went for the papers that were in the folder. "Well… it seems like you are going to be a dishwasher."
"Great…" He said, looking at the paper that was folded in half with his name on it. "I really wanted to be a dishwasher…"
"Hey, it's a job." Tori told him. "And it will help us survive. That IS what is important."
"I know…" He began to open his folded paper as Tori looked at her. "What you get?"
"Laundry worker…" Tori let out a sigh. "I'm working at a Laundromat."
He smirked, "You'll get clean clothes." Tori snapped her face at him. "Kidding. Look, these jobs are going to suck. Royally too."
"But we need them." Tori agreed. "As long as we do this… then…"
"Hey…" Robbie whispered. He took his hand and caressed her cheek, forcing her to look into his eyes. "Each day will end with us in bed together, holding each other. Taking care of each other, being there for each other…"
"Keeping us alive… I know…" She let kissed him once more, and looked back at the paper. She groaned when she noticed the start date. "I start tomorrow, Babe. No all day naked time…"
Robbie let out a breath. "Kinda figured…" He looked at his. "I start tomorrow at 10. And it looks like I work until 6. You?"
"11 until 7…"
"Wow…" He let out a whisper. "We're going to be tired." Tori nodded, taking in his statement. "What else is in the folder?"
Tori looked back, "We got a bus schedule. Which is good, because we have no car. We also have the numbers to our new phones. Debit cards and checkbooks. And social security numbers…"
"This is unreal, Baby." Robbie said to her. "But this IS what you want, right? This, two new jobs, two new identities, two…"
"I want this because you know why." She told him. "And while I would like to spend all day in bed with you tomorrow, we can push that back to Saturday, right? These jobs can't keep us apart all the time. We're going to have to make the most of what we have so we can pull this off."
"Hopefully we can make it to Saturday." He chuckled.
"Hey, I'll take cuddling as a substitute for as long as we can." She told him. "All I want is for you to hold me tonight."
"That… I can do." He kissed her once more. Taking out his new pear phone, he noticed the time. "There's a bus in about twenty minutes, we can go pick up some groceries tonight. Get something for breakfast tomorrow at least. Get what we need to make this work."
Tori sighed knowing he was right. "Ok…" She kissed him once more herself "We got a long way to make this work."
"And we will. C'mon." Robbie pointed out. He watched as Tori started to pull herself out of his lap. But as soon as he saw her at full height, he reached out and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her back, and starting to pleasure her with intensive kisses in the nape of her neck.
"Robbie!" She squealed in delight.
"Doesn't mean we can't have some small doses of passion every now and then." He grinned, and kissed her again.
"Robbie, c'mon! We gotta go."
"Wow." He said, watching her pull out of his grasp. "You really want to get going, don't you?"
"What part of not wanting to screw this up don't you get?" Tori asked, pulling his arm up, fording him out of the chair. "We gotta get a move on."
Robbie sighed, "I know…"
"C'mon, my love." Tori said with a grin.
"I'm coming, I'm coming…"
Then the two of them got out of the chair, headed for some light jackets, their keys, and their new IDs.
Tonight was truly the start of their new lives as Noah Parker and Karen Stacy.
"I hope we can actually find something here tonight." Holly Vega whispered as the elevator climbed up the stairs.
"It's about the closest way we actually might get some leads." David reminded her.
"I'm surprised it's actually gone this far." Holly told him.
"I'm beginning to think may it's not, Holly." David said to his wife as soon as the elavlator doors open.
"How can you actually think that it's not?"
"On the way here." David told her. "While I was driving, I was thinking… Tori and Robbie. The way they think. The way they were forced into… the human body has a habit of adapting to its surrounding. And while they may actually have shrunken in their world's view. IE, meaning no longer thinking in the grand scheme of things. Thinking how much their lives were altered after they were gone from home. Gone from Hollywood Arts, gone from us. They were forced to begin thinking in terms of Yerba. In terms of survival and in terms of solitary. They only had each other… Holly, they were forced to only depend on themselves. So much so, that they fallen in love with each other. To help them deal. To help them survive. Holly, we're dealing with…
"Two kids who only had themselves and because they clung together for those two weeks, their world shrank. And rather than get back to normal when they got back home.."
Holly understood. "Kept what they had. They had no reason to get back to normal because they thrived on what they had."
"They built their lives on it." David said as they edged to the girl dorm room. "And now that their on their own. They're retreating back to that frame of mind. Only this time, more…"
"Alone then ever…" Holly realized. She failed to notice that David knocked on the door.
"We gotta find them…" David said to her.
It was at that moment when the door in front of them started to open. "Mr. and Mrs. Vega?"
"Everybody here, Michael?" Holly asked.
Michael Barrett replied, "Not all of us."
"Lola's not here." Chase told them.
"Where's Lola?" David asked.
Zoey looked at them, "Lola's um… she's not here."
"Where is she?" Holly questioned.
"We're not quite sure." Quinn said to them.
"Great." Logan Reese said, trying to be as neutral as possible. "Now, we're missing Lola." At least this way, he knew it would keep as far away from him as a possible link to Tori and Robbie as possible. He just hoped Lola really wasn't missing.
Somewhere across Malibu, and back in the suburbs of Los Angeles, a hand went to a currening ringing pear phone. A groan escaped the owner's lips as the phone was turned on. She brought it to her ear, and heard a sudden voice.
"Hi, Jade."
"Lola?"
