Ashley's POV
Regionals was this week and we were getting ready for it. I was excited because my brother's service was officially ending. I was fairly certain that he was not going to repeat the same stunt from Sectionals though.
I did have to admit that I was worried about Stacey's dad. I mean on paper it looked like he was guilty, but the police were still undecided on whether he would be charged with anything. I didn't know if that was a good sign of not. I know that Zimmerman guy initially wasn't charged because he wasn't ever guilty, so maybe that was a good sign.
We were currently waiting to see what kind of set list Quinn had prepared for us. I think I was more interested in winning than having a moment of glory on stage. I really wanted to go to Nationals. We all watched as she walked into the room.
"Okay, so I have the news that you have all been waiting for." Quinn stated. "The set list for Regionals will feature Maria and Kyle singing "Superheroes" by The Script, Jamie singing "I'm Still Here" by Cady Groves, and Ashley, Laura, and Stacey singing "People Like Us" by Kelly Clarkson. I also would like to say that I have a surprise for you if you win."
I had to admit that I was curious about what that was.
Stevie's POV
I had to admit that this with Dad was hard. The good news was that Sam was home and I wanted to spend some brother-bonding time with him. We weren't going to go fishing because neither of us really liked fishing, so we were going to go a baseball game, specifically a minor league game for the newly formed Lima Ducks. They weren't very good but it was a great opportunity for us to spend time together.
"So are you and Charlie glad to be back in town?" I asked him as we took our seats.
"Yeah, I'm glad to see you guys and she's glad to see Quinn." He answered. "I can't believe this thing with Dad. He's a good guy and it's like the universe keeps throwing curveballs at him."
"Well you know what they taught us in church." I responded. "Each of life's hardships is a test from God."
"Well it's a certainly a good way to test his faith." Sam agreed. "So I heard that Regionals is this week. Are you excited?"
"Yeah, and I'm nervous, even though I'm not going to be singing anything." I told him.
"Well when I was in school, Regionals were always a piece of cake." Sam stated. "Nationals is the real test. I also got to go to the three biggest cities in America."
"Was that what you liked most about being in Glee Club?" I asked.
"Well it was until my senior year." He replied with a smile. I knew the reason for that. 'So speaking about girls, how are things going with that girl you were dating. Are you still together?"
"Yes, the hardest thing was talking to her dad, but I convinced him that I care about her and he agreed that we could date." I explained.
"You're going to have to call me when you're ready to propose to her." He responded.
"You know not everyone proposes when they're still in high school." I teased him. He and Charlie had gotten shortly after her junior year. They would be celebrating their third anniversary this year.
"Well just don't wait 15 years to get married." He rebutted. That did seem like a long time.
Ashley's POV
I went to Jamie's house because she said that she wanted some pointers with practicing her solo. I was a bit surprised when it wasn't Jamie that answered the door, but that girl who she was dating that I couldn't remember the name of.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Jamie invited me." She answered. "What are you doing here?"
"I invited her too." Jamie replied as she stepped out into the room. She had straightened her hair. "I wanted both my girlfriend and my best friend here to hear me sing my song for Regionals."
"Are you sure that this is a good idea?" I questioned. "I mean no offense, but she does go to another school."
"Yes, but Aria's not from one of the schools that we're competing against." Jamie pointed out before she started to sing.
It's been too long since I've been home
I can't help but bring another memory of you and me out
Once you opened up and let me in your Polaroid
Couldn't wait to wake up put on my makeup and hope that you would stay
I just hope that you would stay
I can't shake you off of me
I can't be here and help think that you should be next to me
I scream your name I don't know why I care
Oh I'm still here
Why would you set stone if you don't really love me
And baby it's so cold I gotta let you go cause you don't really love me
And it's apparent every time I come back home and oh I'm gonna be alone forever
I just need to breathe, let me breathe again, let me see when I gotta see you,
I gotta see you again
I can't shake you off of me
I can't be here and help think that you should be next to me
I scream your name I don't know why I care
Oh I'm still here
"That was great." Aria gushed as she walked over to Jamie and kissed her. "I think that you're going to win."
"Ashley, I think you can go now." Jamie replied as the girl kissed her neck. I had a feeling where things were going to go and it turned me on a little myself.
I decided that it would be a good idea to see Stacey. I went to her house to find that she wasn't alone. I hadn't seen her since the wedding.
"Hey, Ashley." Charlie greeted me.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned. I was a little annoyed because I wanted to be alone with Stacey.
"Well Sam was hanging out with Stevie, so I decided to come over here." Charlie explained.
"You know I just thought of something." I remarked. "My brother is married to your sister and you're married to Stacey's brother."
"I guess it would make sense for us to get married." Stacey quipped. I smiled. That would have to wait a few years. I pulled her close to me.
"You know I always thought that you two would be perfect for each other." Charlie declared with a smile. "I'm glad to know that I was right."
Stacey's POV
On the competition day, the girls were wearing strapless dresses with white bodices and pink pleated skirts and the guys were white shirts with pink ties. We starting in the audience as one of our competitors: the Dynasty was performing. I don't think that they had one won anything to b honest.
I let it fall my heart and as it fell you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over until you kissed my lips and you saved me
My hands they were but my knees were far too weak
To stand in your arms, without falling to your feet
But there's a side to you that I never knew never knew
All the things you'd say they were never true never true
And the games you played you would always win always win
But I set fire to the rain, watched it pour as I touched your face
Well it burned when I cried cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain and I threw us into the flames
Well it fell something died cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time
Sometimes I wake up by the door, that heart caught must be waiting for you
Even now when we're already over, I can't help myself from looking for ya
But I set fire to the rain, watched it pour as I touched your face
Well it burned when I cried cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain and I threw us into the flames
Well it fell something died cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time
Let it burn,
Let it burn
Let it burn
After the other team performed, we headed to the stage. I was a bit nervous because it was first competition singing, even though I had sung the lead in the musical. Kyle and Maria headed up first.
Oh the life she has seen, oh the meaner side of me
They took away the prophet's dream for a prophet on the street
Cause she's stronger than you know
A heart of steel starts to grow
All his life he's been told he'll be nothing when he's old
All the kicks and all the blows, he won't ever let it show
Cause he's stronger than you know
A heart of steel starts to grow
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been struggling to make things right
That's how a superhero learns to fly
Every day every hour turn that pain into power
You've been fighting for it all your life
You've been working every day and night
That's how a superhero learns to fly
Every day every hour turn that pain into power
She's got lions in your heart a fire in your soul
He's got a beat in his belly so hard to control
Cause they've too much hits gone blow for blow
Now light a match stand back watch him explode
She's got lions in your heart a fire in your soul
He's got a beat in his belly so hard to control
Cause they've too much hits gone blow for blow
Now light a match stand back watch him explode
When you've been fighting for it all your life
You've been struggling to make things right
That's how a superhero learns to fly
Every day every hour turn that pain into power
You've been fighting for it all your life
You've been working every day and night
That's how a superhero learns to fly
Every day every hour turn that pain into power
You've been fighting for it all your life
You've been struggling to make things right
That's how a superhero learns to fly
From there, Jamie sang her solo and brought the crowd to its feet. I knew that it was our job to keep them there. Ashley was leading off with the intro before I started singing.
We come into this world unknown
But know that we are not alone
That you can't knock us down
The change is coming it's our time now
Hey everybody loses it everybody wants to throw it all away sometimes
And hey yeah I know what you're going through don't let it get the best of you
You'll make it out alive
Oh people like us we gotta stick together
Keep your head up nothing lasts forever
Here's to the damned to the lost and forgotten
It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom
Oh, oh, oh we are all misfits living in a world on fire
Oh, oh, oh Singing for the people like us, the people like us
Oh, oh, oh you just gotta turn it up loud when the flames get higher
Oh, oh, oh, singing for the people like us, the people like us
They can't do nothing to you
They can't do nothing to me
This is the life we choose
This is the life that we lead
So throw your fists in the air
Come out, come out if you dare
Tonight we're gonna change forever
Everybody loses it
Everybody wants to throw it all away sometimes
Oh people like us we gotta stick together
Keep your head up nothing lasts forever
Here's to the damned to the lost and forgotten
It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom
Oh, oh, oh we are all misfits living in a world on fire
Oh, oh, oh Singing for the people like us, the people like us
Oh, oh, oh you just gotta turn it up loud when the flames get higher
Oh, oh, oh, singing for the people like us, the people like us
We ended up winning. We were going to Nationals! I was excited that something good had happened. Afterwards Quinn called us all into the choir room.
"So as promised I have a treat for you guys." Quinn stated. "We sang this song at Regionals the year we won Nationals. Now don't tell anyone that I used this kind of language."
We could just go home right now
Or maybe we could stick around for just one more drink oh yeah
Get another bottle out,
Let's shoot the breeze and sit back down for just more drink oh yeah
Here's to us, here's to love, all the times that we messed up
Here's to you fill the glass cause the last few nights have kicked my ass
If they give you hell, tell them go fuck themselves
Here's to us, here's to us
Here's to all that we kissed and to all that we missed
To the biggest mistakes that we just wouldn't drink
To us breaking out without us breaking down
To whatever's coming our way, here's to us
At that point, Puck walked into the room with a microphone. I think she had planned that part.
Here's to us, here's to love, all the times that we messed up
Then Rachel Berry, possibly the biggest star the school's ever produced walked in. I was a bit confused now.
Here's to you, fill the glass you the last few nights have kicked my ass
At that point, Santana Lopez, one of Sam's former girlfriends walked and Quinn sang with her.
If they give you hell, tell them go fuck themselves
Here's to us, here's to us, here's to us, here's to us
Then Artie Abrams rolled in his wheelchair. This was one of the greatest performances that I'd ever seen.
Here's to us, here's to love, all the times that we messed up
At that point Sam and Charlie came in.
Here's to you fill the glass cause the last few nights have kicked my ass
If they give you tell go fuck themselves
Here's to us, here's to us
Here's to us, here's to love, here's to us
Wish everybody well
Here's to us, here's to love, here's to us
Here's to us
We all clapped our hands. All I knew was that Nationals was going to be a blast. I couldn't wait. Anaheim, here we come.
So New Directions won Regionals and several special guests appeared, one being Katie Stevens, whoever plays the Dynasty's lead singer Ginny. The songs are "Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele, "Here's to Us" by Halestorm featuring Slash, Brent Smith, Myles Kennedy, James Michael, Tyler Connolly, David Draiman, and Maria Brink. Please don't forget to review.
