Just as the cab pulled to a stop in front of the Tyler residence, my phone buzzed loudly. I glanced down at it as I stepped out and saw it had come from Rose's phone. I quickly thanked the cabbie and gave him his money before stepping out of the vehicle. I moved to the side just as the cabbie pulled away to let other cars move up. I made sure to stay out of everyone's way as I read the text.

Psychic paper is on the right side of house under a bush. Grab it, would you, and feel free to be whoever you want as long as you get inside. See you in a bit.

- Doctor

I snapped my phone shut and stuffed it under my fedora before moving closer to the house. Instead of joining, though, the queue waiting outside of the front door to be let in, I casually walked around everyone without getting spotted and to the right side of the house like the Doctor had said. I sighed at the sight of all the bushes before marching ahead and looking for the specific one that had the psychic paper underneath of it.

Luckily it didn't take me as long as I thought it might take. I literally found the psychic paper within minutes. I quickly snatched it up from under the bush. Course the bush had roses growing in it and a few thorns scratched what part of my hand wasn't covered. I swore and switched the psychic paper to the hand that wasn't hurt. I brought my bleeding hand up and watched as the cuts slowly disappeared.

"Goddess, I hate blood," I muttered, bending down in order to wipe my hand off on the grass.

"Is there something wrong, ma'am? You appear a bit lost," a male voice called out.

I mentally swore before raising back up. I took in a deep breath and turned to face the approaching security guard. The closer he got, I noticed how not very tall he was. At least a good few inches shorter than me and he didn't have that much bulk on him. How was he a security guard? He didn't even look like he could hurt a fly.

When the guy was in front of me, I brought up the psychic paper and opened it for him to inspect. I then pointed at it and then myself. The security guard adjusted the spectacles on his face and leaned in a bit closer in order to read the paper. After he pulled back and returned his attention to me, I batted my eyelashes and pouted a little followed by a confused shrug.

"French, huh?" he murmured under his breath, staring up at me. His green eyes then closed and his face scrunched up as he tried his hand to speak in French, much to my amusement. "Est-ce que vous avez perdu, Miss Klear? (Are you lost, Miss Klear?)"

I had to restrain myself from face-palming. Does the psychic paper really say Klear? What the bloody hell!

I nodded. "J'ai été invité à la fête et Tyler ne suis pas sûr comment obtenir à l'intérieur, (I was invited to the Tyler party and am unsure how to get inside.)"

"Si vous me suivez, madame, je serais heureux de vous conduire à l'entrée de la maison, (If you were to follow me, ma'am, I would be happy to lead you to the entrance of the mansion.)"

"Voulez-vous? Ce serait merveilleux. Vous êtes toujours tellement genre, (Would you? That would be wonderful. You are ever so kind.)" I giggled, shutting the psychic paper.

The man's face flushed bright red and he quickly adjusted his glasses. "Il me fera plaisir, Miss Klear, (It would be my pleasure, Miss Klear.)" He then gave an awkward cough and waved for me to follow him. "De cette façon, s'il vous plaît, (This way, please.)"

The guard led me right back to the front of the house. The line to get inside was currently gone, so the guard showed me right to the door and bowed low as I walked by him and inside. I giggled again at him, this time because he genuinely was being funny, and in turn he flushed red again. With a quick thank you and wave, I walked inside.

Wish I knew his name. He was adorable.

As soon as the door closed behind me, I was met with a whole crowd of people who surrounded the staircase. I stayed near the back as a man moved to the middle of the staircase and smiled at everyone. I instantly recognized the man as Pete Tyler, Rose's deceased father. As he opened his mouth to speak, I glanced around the room in search of the Time Lord and his blonde Human companion.

"Excuse me! Thank you very much," Pete addressed to us all. Some people in the crowd started to clap. "Thank you - if I could just have your attention, please?"

I crossed my arms and leaned back against the wall behind me. I held on tightly to the psychic paper in fear that someone might accidentally brush by me too hard and knock it from my hands. Even if these people would see absolutely nothing, I still didn't want to risk losing it, especially since it didn't even belong to me to begin with.

"Pete! Go on, Pete!" a man shouted at him.

"Thank you very much!" Pete said back.

"It's about time you did some work. I thought you liked them young!" the same man yelled out, earning a few laughs.

At that moment I spotted the Doctor and Rose enter the room. I cocked my head a bit, though, when I saw the outfits they had on. They were both dressed like the waiters and waitresses that were handing out food to the guests here. I tried to get their attention, but neither saw me since they were watching Mr. Tyler. I thought about going to them, but then I would have to push my way through people.

And I highly doubt anyone would appreciate me pushing through them to get to my friends.

Pete put both of his hands behind his back. "Um, I'd just like to say, er, thank you to you all, for coming on this, er, this very special occasion. My wife's…thirty-ninth." I looked around in confusion when everyone chuckled at that. I didn't quite understand how that could possibly be funny. What's funny about being thirty-nine? "Trust me on this…," he continued, giving a small smile and a raised thumb, like on his advertisement that we had seen earlier this morning. The crowd laughed again. "So, without any further ado - here she is. The birthday girl...my lovely wife...Jackie Tyler."

Pete brought a hand to gesture at Jackie who was coming down the steps. I politely clapped along with everyone else who was applauding. Jackie smiled at us all and came to a stop next to her husband. He grinned at her as she waved at some of the people in the crowd.

"Now," Jackie began, addressing the crowd like Pete had been doing earlier, "I'm not giving a speech - that's what my parties are famous for. No work, no politics, just a few good mates and plenty of black-market whisky." I had to chuckle at that along with everyone else in the room. Some whiskey sounded good right about now. Maybe I could sneak some without the Doctor noticed. "Pardon me, Mr President!" Jackie then added at the dark skinned man near the front of the crowd, earning a few more laughs. I blinked. President? In England? "So, yeah! Get on with it - enjoy, enjoy."

As Pete took Jackie's hand and led her down the steps, the crowd clapped once more. Some bloke even said, "Well said, well said." Once Pete and Jackie reached the bottom, I hurriedly squeezed my way towards where the Doctor and Rose were. I just reached behind the two when the Doctor leant into Rose to speak softly to her. Neither one noticed me yet as I had come up behind and they were looking forward.

"You can't stay. Even if there was some way of telling them," the Doctor warned Rose.

"Course I can't," she said back, but I could tell that it hurt her to say it. "I've still got my mum at home, my real mum. I couldn't just leave her, could I? It's just...they've got each other. Mum's got no one."

"She's got you! Those two haven't!" the Doctor told her. He then sighed softly. "All these different worlds, not one of them gets it right."

"Rose!" Jackie suddenly shouted. Small yips came from the direction that Jackie had spoken. "There's my little girl!" A small Yorkie then came out of nowhere. I smiled at the dog. She was so utterly adorable. Wish I had one."Come to mummy, come to mummy!" Jackie picked up the pup when the dog approached her. "Yes, good girl! Good girl, aren't you?"

After a moment once Jackie was gone, the Doctor looked at Rose and burst out laughing. Rose turned and gave him a look. The Time Lord quickly stopped and sheepishly said, "Sorry."

"I'll be back," Rose muttered, marching out of sight.

The Doctor sighed once she was gone. "That could've gone worse."

"You're telling me," I said, stepping up and taking Rose's empty spot.

"Ah, Krystal!" the Doctor exclaimed. He grinned and looked over at me. His grin fell, though, as soon as his eyes locked onto my body. They widened a small fraction. I blinked back, scared that I had done something wrong. "I…uh…"

I snapped my fingers in front of his face. "Is something wrong?"

He shook his head. "Not at all. You just, I mean you…"

My head cocked slightly. "I what?"

He gestured at the gown I wore as he awkwardly looked away. "You look beautiful, Krystal."

I blinked again and blushed a horrible red color. My eyes changed orange from embarrassment. It wasn't very often that my eyes changed to orange. I've gotten embarrassed before and have blushed, but apparently I must've blushed just enough this time that it got my eyes to change. My eyes only usually change when the emotion is strong enough to get it to change. Anger and sadness are probably the only two emotions that pretty much always change my eyes whenever I feel the emotion. They're the strongest of the bunch because you have to be feeling quite emotional to become angry or sad in the first place. How angry, for example, I am, though, can determine how bright my eyes will glow.

I'm going to stop there. It's really hard to explain.

"You really think?" I asked him. "It's not even mine, actually. I found it in the wardrobe room in the TARDIS. The one from before where you showed me all of those clothes when you got dressed."

The Doctor swallowed and I saw his eyes trying to look at me, but he kept them everywhere but me. "Yes. The dress looks lovely on you. I didn't even know I had half those clothes in there."

I chuckled, hoping to lighten the mood since things were getting awkward with him not looking at me. I couldn't understand, though, why he was trying to force himself to look away. "Understandable since you're a man and all. I'm guessing you've never regenerated into a woman before."

The Time Lord finally looked at me again. He shook his head. "Nope."

I smiled. "That's good. And if you can help it, try not to turn into a woman in the near future. I wouldn't be able to call you handsome if you did."

"You think I'm handsome?" he asked smugly, fixing the bow tie at his neck.

I winked. "Dashing, actually."

"Dashing, huh? This reminds me of the time I asked you for input on the outfit I picked out from the TARDIS wardrobe."

I rolled my eyes. "I seem to recall calling you good and then dashing."

His smug smile grew. "It appears then that I've done something right if you're now saying handsome first instead of good. You must be falling for me, Krysty."

I quickly averted my eyes. "That's Krystal to you, Doctor." I then handed him his psychic paper. "And, um, here's your psychic paper. Thanks for letting me borrow it."

He laughed, stuffing the psychic paper away in his inner jacket pocket. "You are welcome," he said whilst grabbing my hand, changing my eyes to black. "Come on. I want to look around a bit."

I let the Doctor lead the way as he detached us from the crowd. Hope no one saw us leaving the party. People might think the wrong thing. For example, they might believe that he and I are actually a couple. I mean, I'd like to be, but right now it'd just draw attention.

It was hard to see now since my vision was pretty much black, but he and I moved down a corridor, passing a dark, empty room with its door slightly ajar. Inside I was just able to glimpse a computer monitor before we passed. I almost missed it actually because of my eyes. I looked back at the door as the Doctor continued forward. When the Doctor didn't pause to go back to it, I cleared my throat and pointed at the room once he looked at me. He blinked at the door and slowly turned us back so he could look inside of the room. As soon as he saw the computer, he glanced both ways to see if anyone was watching us, before stepping inside of the room with me.

I went right over to the computer as the Doctor slowly shut the door. The Doctor came up beside me a second later with his glasses on his face. He smiled at me, which I returned, and then down at the computer. I watched as the Doctor messed around a bit with the computer until he found a presentation of some sort. A voice came on and a human head appeared where we could see the inside of it.

"The most precious thing on this Earth is the human brain…" The picture then changed to where the head was facing us. We could no longer see the inside of it. After a few seconds, lines came up from the ears and connected up over the direct centre of the head. "This is the ultimate upgrade. Our greatest step into cyberspace."

I swallowed and stared over at the Doctor with bright yellow eyes. He didn't look at me, but I could tell from the side that we both had the same identical looks on our faces. We both knew what this was. What this meant for the Human kind.

In unison we both went, "Cybus."

I quickly ran after the Doctor as he dashed from the room.

The two of us darted back down the hall. Soon as we were back in the main room with the crowd of people, the Doctor tore off his glasses and tucked them away as he searched for Rose. We maneuvered through people until theTime Lord finally spotted her and she him. Without wasting a second, Rose ran to the window and the Doctor and I immediately followed her. The Doctor put his hands up to the glass so he could move his face closer. I squeezed between the two of them and gasped at the sight.

I swallowed and hugged myself tightly. My yellow eyes brightened and I started to shake. "Not them. Anyone but them."

They weren't as advanced, but they definitely were the same robotic creatures.

"It's happening again," the Doctor went.

"What do you mean?" Rose asked, I think referring to the both of us.

"I've seem them before," the Doctor told her. "And by the looks of it, Krystal has as well."

I shakily nodded my head in answer to his guess. "Back when I was a little girl. They killed so many. They took my mum…" I had to squeeze my eyes shut to keep any threatening tears from spilling. Now was definitely not the time. "I never thought I'd have to see them ever again."

"I'm sorry," the Doctor murmured, giving my hand a quick squeeze.

"What are they?" Rose asked us, sounding more scared than she had before.

"Cybermen," the Time Lord and I said together.

It was at that moment the shattering of glass three of us jumped and turned to look at what was happening. I froze up at the sight of several of the Cybermen smashing their steel fists through the mansion windows, breaking the glass right on crowd of people cowered and tried to move away as the Cybermen then stepped right on into the room. The Doctor quickly pulled Rose and me to the centre of the crowd just before the Cybermen surrounded us. When he released our hands, I instantly grabbed his arm tightly and moved as close to him as I possibly could.

Besides the Doctor, I was the only one in this room who fully knew what these things were capable of doing. My planet barely got away from them when I was little. If not for the extra help we had, a lot more of us would've died that awful day. We were also lucky that there were only a few of them. The original and four others that it had turned.

My mum was one of those four.

Standing in front of the Doctor, Rose, and me was the President. A communication of some sort of his beeped and the President got a distasteful look upon his face as he answered the device.

"Mr. Lumic," the President said.

"Mr President," Mr. Lumic, also the man from the presentation, replied. "I suppose a remark about crashing the party would be appropriate at this point." He gave an evil laugh.
"I forbade this."

"These are my children, sir. Would you deny my family?"

Rose glanced at the Doctor and me and said under her breath, "What are they? Robots?"

I slowly shook my head as the Doctor answered her. "Worse than that."

"Who were these people?" the President asked, referring to the Cybermen.
"Doesn't matter," Mr. Lumic said back.

"Monster!" I growled under my breath. I could feel more tears ready to spill.

"They're people?" Rose looked back at the Doctor and me.

"They were," the Doctor responded. "Until they had all their humanity taken away. It's a living brain jammed inside a cybernetic body. With a heart of steel. All emotions removed."

I nodded sadly. "Not a single one. Probably one of the only living things in the whole universe that I can touch without having my eyes or gem change colors. It's horrible. They're so cold and empty inside, and yet they're not at the exact same time."

"Why no emotions?" Rose asked.

I tightened my grip on the Doctor as we both told her, "Because it hurts."

The three of us looked back at the President as his voice rose higher in anger.
"I demand to know, Lumic - these people - who were they?"

"They were homeless, wretched and useless…until I saved them," Mr. Lumic answered. I stared in horror at the Cybermen, trying to think of them as the people they once were and never will be again. "And elevated them. And gave them life-eternal. And now, I leave you in their capable hands. Goodnight, sir. Goodnight, Mr President."

"I don't like the sound of that," I murmured as the man hung up.

It got even worse when one of the Cybermen stepped in front of the President and squared itself before the entire crowd.

"We have been upgraded," it told the President in its robotic, emotionless voice. Where it's mouth would be, the space there turned blue when it spoke.

"Into what?" the Doctor demanded of it.

"The next level of mankind. We are Human Point Two. Every citizen will receive a free upgrade. You will become like us."

My grip tightened even more on the Doctor as flashes of my Mum came back to me. I tried to make myself smaller as I cowered against the Doctor.

"I'm sorry," the President told the Cyberman. He moved closer towards it. I almost reached out a hand to stop the man before he got too close. "I'm so sorry for what's been done to you." The President turned back around in order to address all of the surrounding Cybermen. "But listen to me - this experiment ends." He faced the Cyberman that had spoke to us. "Tonight."

"Upgrading is compulsory," it told the President.

"And if I refuse?" the President asked back.

I froze and quickly turned my attention to the Doctor. Not good, not good, not good!

"Don't," the Doctor warned him.

Rose glanced at him.

The President ignored the Time Lord. "What if I refuse?"

The Doctor stepped closer to the President with me following unwillingly. "I'm telling you, don't."

"Will you just listen to the man?!" I yelled at the President. "You're doing something that you are going to forever regret!"

The President ignored both of us still. I growled. What the bloody hell?! "What happens if I refuse?"

"Then you are not compatible," the Cyberman told him.

"What happens then?"

"You will be deleted," it told him.

With no warning, the Cyberman suddenly grabbed onto the shoulder, right by the neck, of the President. The man's widened in shock as blue electricity came forth from the Cyberman and enveloped his entire body. I screamed as he fell to his knees and soon after died. The rest of the crowd then decided to scream and run at that chosen moment.

The Doctor ran forward with Rose and me darting after him. Somewhere behind us I heard the sound of Pete shouting his wife's name. The whole room was in chaos. Everyone either running, screaming, or being killed by a Cyberman. The whole event was horrible.

The Doctor hurriedly grabbed our hands and tugged us out of the mansion and into the yard by way of a broken window. "There's nothing we can do!" he told us.
I stared at the back of his head in pure shock and shook his hand off. "Nothing we can do?" I repeated astonished. "There has to be something! All those poor people, Doctor!"

"We have nothing to stop them without getting ourselves killed," the Doctor answered.

Rose pulled out of the Doctor's grasp and tried to head back inside of the mansion. "My mum's in there!"

"She's not your mother!" he told her, re-grabbing her hand. "Come on!"

The Doctor took Rose up a small slope with me right on their didn't make it very far before we came up against a whole row of Cybermen. When they noticed us, they changed their direction slightly to come at us. As we ran back to move to the front of the mansion, Pete jumped out of the broken windows.

Rose looked over her shoulder and quickly called out to him. "Pete, Pete!" she exclaimed until he looked over at us and darted our way.

When we reached the front of the mansion, we all stopped. The Doctor looked at Pete. "Pete, is there a way out? he asked.

Pete pointed off ahead. "The side gates!" We hurriedly ran in the direction that he indicated. "Who are you?" he continued as we ran, looking back at us. "How do you know so much?"

"You wouldn't believe it in a million years—" the Doctor started to explain.

I came to a stop before the others when I saw the approaching Cybermen. "Doctor, look out!" I exclaimed.

He, Pete, and Rose skidded to a halt as they saw the Cybermen. We all quickly changed direction and ran the opposite way with me in the lead.

As we ran, bright lights appeared ahead of us and two figures with what appeared guns of some sorts ran our way. I brought up a hand to shield my eyes from the blinding light behind them.

"Who's that?" Rose asked.

"Get behind me!" one of the figures shouted at us. He actually sounded a whole lot like Mickey, but it couldn't be. Why would Mickey have a gun? Where could he have even gotten one to begin with? It couldn't be Mickey.

Without asking questions, we did what the figure asked of us and moved behind him and the other guy. As we ran by, just before we ducked down behind them, I saw the figure's face. It was Mickey. But that doesn't make sense. Was this the Ricky that Mickey's gram had mentioned? Or did Mickey change fairly quickly in the time we were here in the parallel universe and he had been captured? I didn't have much more time to think about who was who when the guns the two held suddenly went off as they shot them at the Cybermen. I quickly covered my ears to block out the loud noise. When the Cybermen finally stopped marching, the two figures stood up straight and ceased fire.

Rose turned to Mickey and moved him so she could see him fully. He stared back at her confused. "Oh my God, look at you…," she said to him. She pulled him into a hug where his head was put on her shoulder. By the look on his face, I could instantly tell that this definitely was not Mickey. Instead this was Ricky. "I thought I'd never see you again!"

"Uh, Rose…," I tried to warn her.

Ricky pulled away from Rose and gave her a look. "Yeah, no offense, sweetheart, but who the hell are you?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yep. You are definitely not Mickey. Mickey isn't that rude." The man glared at me. I glared back, changing my eyes from yellow to red. "And next time you say 'no offense', mean it!"

Before the two of us could get into a heated argument, Mickey's voice came down to us. "Rose!" I turned, as well as Rose and the Doctor, and saw him sprinting towards us down the lawn. I grinned and ran over to Mickey, giving him a tight hug.

"You're okay!" I squealed. I quickly pulled back and looked him over. "You are all right, right?"

He nodded. "I'm good." He then looked back at Rose. "That's not me. That's like…the other one."

Rose looked between the two men.

"Oh, as if things weren't bad enough - there's two Mickeys!" the Doctor complained.

"It's Ricky," Ricky told the Time Lord.

I smacked the Doctor's chest. "Shut up! Just be happy Mickey's all right, Doctor."

"But there's more of them…," Mickey suddenly said, staring ahead.

"What?" My eyes slowly moved back to the Cybermen that they had been shooting at earlier. They, plus a whole lot more, were moving closer until they had us surrounded. I gripped the Doctor's arm like I had been doing in the mansion. Everyone looked around in slight fear.

"We're surrounded…," Rose said.

Ricky instantly brought up his gun and aimed it at the Cybermen directly in front of us while his partner knelt down and brought up his.
Put the guns down," the Doctor told him. "Bullets won't stop them."

The other man ignored the Doctor, though, and shot. "No!" the Doctor exclaimed angrily. He moved out of my grip and over to the man. "Stop shooting, now!" he told him, pushing the gun aside and out of the man's grip. When the Doctor stood back up straight, he looked at all of the surrounding Cybermen. "We surrender! Hands up…," he then told us.

"We what?!" I exclaimed as everyone brought up their hands above their heads.

"Krystal, please do as I say," he told me. "I know what I'm doing."

He and I had a quick stare down. After a few seconds, I frowned and raised my hands slowly above my head. I dropped my head and stared down at my feet as I started to shake again.

We were going to die.
The Doctor returned his attention to the Cybermen as they moved closer to us. "...there's no need to damage us, we're good stock. We volunteer for the upgrade program. Take us to be processed."

Worse. I was going to end up like my mother.

One Cyberman moved closer to us compared to the others. "You are rogue elements."

"But we surrender," the Doctor said, sounding a bit confused as to why the Cyberman wouldn't accept it.

"You are incompatible."

"But this is a surrender!"

"You will be deleted."

The Doctor looked at the Cybermen, getting frantic since they wouldn't listen to him. "But we're surrendering! Listen to me, we surrender!"

"You are inferior. Man will be reborn as Cybermen but you will perish under maximum deletion," it responded.

I swallowed hard as all of the Cybermen raised their arms and pointed them at us. They all started to say in unison, "Delete. Delete. Delete!"

Tears finally started to fall down my cheeks as I waited for them to fire. I closed my eyes tightly and clenched my fists.

Nope. Death it is then apparently.

So that French translation, no idea if it's accurate or not. I shouldn't have, but I used Google Translate because I was trying to be quick. Anyway, end of the episode. Whoo! Almost halfway done with season 2, which I personally am excited for the end of the season. Not the biggest fan of Rose and am quite excited for her to leave. Plus, that's where things are going to get interesting between Krystal and the Doctor.

But yeah, thoughts? Chapter pretty much turned out how I wanted it to, which is good. Comments are wonderful! 3
