Simon POV
Betty and I were being escorted to the grand master wizard, "Simon what's happening"? "I don't know sweetie but we'll know it when we get to the grand master's palace". We continued to walk and after entering the palace all the police and guards were dismissed and the two of us were left in front of the grand master. "So Simon, I heard you were looking for the memory siphon"? Both of us nodded and he continued, "Do you know that equipment like that has been outlawed, why do you need to use it anyway"? We explained about Finn's condition and how death needed it, he gave consideration since Finn saved us and death is involved. "Just don't let other wizards take it from you; it's known to be used by a wizard who once tried to steal spells from others".
We were given passage to a secret to get out of the city without being confronted; Betty took out her scanner to see if it's genuine and in working condition. "Hmm, there are no signs of damage neither inside nor outside the siphon". I placed it back inside my bag and we continued our adventure, "that first item was too easy to accomplish; I hope we face some danger I always wanted to test this explosives". She held it close to my face and I moved it away from me and I said, "Don't let it close to me, what kind of explosive is it anyway"? She smiles as throws it in the air. "Shoot ice on it Simon". I did it and as it exploded two miles from where we stood in every direction is covered with ice.
We continued to walk and after three hours we took a break in front of the desert. I took out the map and Betty asks, "So where is the glass at we need to get its location before entering the desert to lessen wasted time and energy". "Well it's displayed at twenty miles from where we stand and it has a fifty feet elevation"... I was busy explaining that I didn't notice that Betty wasn't listening to me at all. I got interrupted by her hugging me and she said, "I love it when you display your intellect like that". I smiled at her and I brushed her hair with my hands, "How about we focus on the topic"? She pouted her lips and smacked me on my back. She picked up her bag and she said, "Let's get on with it idiot, I want free time with you".
We entered the desert and we let the map open to guide us, we modified it to have a battery inside and a solar charger. "The grand master wizard was scared of death, is he really like that in real life"? "Not really, it's not the entity that they fear it's the idea of losing everything you have and know in this world death is just like us a guy with feelings and worries". We entered a part of the desert where ruins of a city is located, we stopped under a freeway and the map says that it's above us, we looked up to try and find it and after a few minutes we saw it embedded at the part of the freeway that was destroyed. We followed the road up to the freeway it was like a parking lot with so many cars lined up.
We jumped from car to car while talking about the time when the war was at our doorstep, "How did you survive the bomb anyway Simon"? "I covered a part if the city with a thick layer of ice to shield me from the bombs that were being dropped, what about you Betty what happened"? I think I hit a bad one there but she still answered it, "the bunkers were a failure, we died and when I woke up I was at the dead world and three hundred years already passed. I got recruited by death and I worked with him up until today". I was saddened with her fate, but she quickly assured me that it was fine. We reached the top of the broken freeway and I pulled out the memory glass from the concrete.
"Alright I have it, scan it Betty". She took it out and scanned the glass too, "it has the same characteristic as death had written here, and the glass is still intact. Let's stay here for now Simon, I'm hungry". She took out her packed lunch and I took out mine, we ate together. After eating I stood up and looked below where we were before, I was shocked to see goo monsters below. I told Betty to pack up quick and we began running but the path was also blocked by the monsters, "Damn I thought they were gone with the lich"! "These monsters might have gone rogue". I said, Betty and I looked at each other and I said, "Here's the action you were looking for Betty". "Well let's show them how strong we are together"! She threw an explosive, as the explosive went off out battle begun.
Death POV
The message starts, "Clay honey its mom, if you are watching this I'm already dead and your brother is the only family you have left. I know that you don't get along so much but today you need to hear the truth, your brother had protected you your whole life more than I had. He protected you from your father when I can only join you in your suffering, the reason he sent you away from home is because your father had decided to get rid of you for good. I hope you two protect each other until the end, for me. You two are my world and I can't stand to see you and your brother tear each other apart, remember clay I love you and whatever you have done and whatever the people around you say, I am very proud of you son".
Our mother coughed up blood but she said one last thing before the recording ended, "Ethan and clay, my two sons. Never forget who you are, maybe just maybe one day we can see each other again". She closes her eyes as the recording ended. I put it away and I say my brother frozen in place, his eyes were wide and so does his mouth. "Maybe he finally conquered it". I released him from the cell and I went up to him, he was still frozen but as I tried to grab his hands I got knocked away by him and he said, "LIAR, NEVER AGAIN"! I tried to place walls around him but this time he shattered it easily, he then howled so loud that it made me cover my ears.
After the howling stopped his body began to shake violently, he's flailing his arms around while screaming, "graahhhhhhheeelpp"! I heard his plead and I rushed in to help but when he saw me he begins to run, I chased him throughout the dead world. His running coupled with his violent shaking damaged most of the place, I can't catch up to him, whenever I saw an opening he notices and runs faster. "Clay stop I'm here to help you"! "No, don't come near me you monster! You left me when I needed you"! I tried to trap him while he was distracted but the traps I laid down were destroyed easily by him. Three hours of chasing he's still not backing down he already destroyed half of the dead world.
"I think one more should do it". I grabbed the player and played the message again and just like last time he stops dead in his tracks. "Clay calm down, I'm your brother I'm here to help you". His body suddenly vibrated and my brother's human form emerged from the back of his shell, "ETHAN! Help me, get me out of here"! He was still attached to the real Lich and as I tried to approach him the Lich turned around and said, "I'm finally free from that brat, prepare to die death"! He launched a green fire ball at me but I dodged it, my brother is still attached to that monster if I can't get him out of there he'll probably die of being beaten up. My brother is almost within my reach but I need help with the Lich.
I ran for now to contact glob for help, I called him and he asks, "big problem huh"? "No shit, get me some help send him in". "Him huh? That must be very big problem, alright I'll dispatch him immediately for now just survive". I ended the call and then the Lich lifted me up and is about to fire a black flame at me, "I would love to kill death himself". He was about to end me the second time but then my brother fought back, he tries to control the Lich and then my back up arrived. "You took your time Primus"! "You should be grateful that I'm helping you, so what do you need me to do"? I pointed at clay and I said, "Save my brother! Remove him from the Lich"! He nodded and he charged at the Lich.
He surrounded himself with a blinding light before clashing with the Lich, when the light died out my brother was falling from the air and Primus threw the Lich down on the ground. I caught clay and I placed him somewhere safe then I joined Primus and we transferred its power in a box, "Alright seal him before he's destroyed, he can't be left to recover". Primus encased him in a small prison made of pure light energy, after that he recovered it and we went to check on my brother. He fought against the Lich and he might be exhausted, I checked his vitals but even Primus saw nothing. "Let's get your brother something safe, I think we can save him if we help now"!
Flame Princess POV
We stayed at Finn's room for days now and we still haven't got any news about the items, all we know is that death, Betty and Simon are all working together to get the things we needed. None of them had shown up yet, Shoko stood up from her chair and she asks, "don't you think we're letting ourselves go too much during the last couple of days"? "I don't know what you mean, you don't feel well today"? She puts the neckline of her shirt close to her nose and she said, "I need to take a bath, you go down stairs and talk with the others. If we don't do this we might get crazy locking ourselves up here". I agreed with her and we kissed Finn in the cheek before we went down.
We went down on the living room and we saw that the place looks like a party just started, Jake was pouring out drinks and handing out some snacks, Marceline was playing with BMO and Princess bubblegum was singing songs with Adam. The two of us were irritated with what we saw and I cleared my throat to get their attention, the noises died out and Shoko asks, "Why are you guys partying while Finn is up there unconscious". They all looked at each other and then Jake decided to answer, "Hey don't blame us death told us to cheer up a bit and he also said that Finn can sense if we are sad so why not have a small party to lighten up the mood". The others agreed and both of us sighed.
"I'm gonna take a bath, Jake leave some of that food for me alright I'm hungry too". "Yeah, that's what I'm talking about". Jake resumed cooking and I sat down to talk with them, "So PB you and Adam got along pretty good huh"? She spat out her drink and she said, "No we're not, besides he may look young but he's really a thousand years old". "What's wrong with being a thousand years old bonnie, besides you're not as young as you look remember"? Marceline reasoned, Bubblegum blushed really hard and she looked away to hide it. "Hey Marcy, where's Simon anyway I thought you called them over"? "Oh I called but no one answered, maybe he took Betty on a date"?
I remembered what death said when he stopped by and I decided to tell them, "I think they were out to get the Items Finn needed". "And what is that"? Jake asked. "A memory siphon from wizard city and a glass from the desert of wonders". Marceline stopped playing and she said, "You're kidding right? It couldn't be the desert of wonders". I don't know what she meant so I asked her. "That particular desert is where goo monsters originated, me, Finn and PB were once trapped there. We almost didn't make it if it weren't for James". Marceline was on the door, she's worried that the pair might get in trouble. As she opens the door Simon and Betty rolled inside their clothes were covered with snow.
Marceline quickly hugged them both and she said, "I'm so glad you two are okay"! Simon smiled and he said, "Well here we are, with Betty beside me we're unstoppable". "Yeah Simon was awesome he froze the whole desert and we defeated those monsters ourselves". We looked outside and we saw a trail of ice and snow from where they came from. Shoko got out from the washroom and she saw the whole thing. "Hey Betty any news, oh and don't forget to remove the ice from my garden". She went up to get dressed and then the two of them smiled at us, "We have the items we need, the only thing left is to assemble them and wait for death to come and do his part".
Jake went with Simon to get the machine and Betty checked up on Finn's condition, After getting the machine here Betty and Simon attached the parts they got and built up a new machine. They placed it beside Finn's bed, Shoko and I asked them, "So what do we do now, we Have everything here right"? The two of them looked at each other and said, "We don't have the last essential part of it, death told us that maybe a day or two from now he'll get it for us". We looked at Finn and I was about to tear up but Shoko said, "Hey it's not as long as you would expect after all of this is done everyone will be happy again". I smiled and I said, "Thank you Shoko". I gave her a quick embrace and we all went down to join the others.
Third person View
Death is walking round and round while Primus tends his brother after a few hours outside the garden Primus called him inside. "Is he okay, tell me that he's fine"? "Don't worry too much, he's saved as much as I hate people who uses dark magic. Anyway he just need to rest a couple of hours to recover his energy and he should be fine". I let out a sigh of relief, my brother is back now I can focus on helping Finn wake up. "What do you plan with these two anyway"? He showed the box and the prison, I took the box and I said. I will transfer the contents of this box to my brother and for the prison glob will make sure to seal it properly to end the Lich for good". Primus pocketed the small prison.
"You really have out done yourself this time Primus, you fought a dark being with all your strength". "Yeah but I feel weak after that encounter, you know death you're one of the most incompetent guardians of all". Death gave him a punch in the gut and he said, "Well what do you expect I'm only a normal human before all of this junk". "So anyway I talked with that boy you helped a while ago". Death's eyes widened and he asks, "How were you able to talk with him he was unconscious". Primus snapped his fingers and the two of them was transported to the astral plane, Finn saw them and he ran towards the two guardians. "It's you again and you brought death this time".
"Finn were only here for a short while but don't worry we'll get you out of here soon enough". Death said, Finn simply nodded and he said, "Well tell them not to worry okay"? Death and Primus said good bye and their back to the dead world, "That's really hard don't you think? Being alone in a place you don't know". Death walked up to his brother and he said, "After seeing that I can't imagine what my brother felt during his time of captivity inside the lich". He turned to Primus. "Keep my brother safe, I need to help Finn now. If anything bad happens while I'm gone call out to me and I'll do my best to go back immediately". Primus carried clay and he teleported out of the dead world.
Death surveyed the place before making the trip to the Bad Lands, "It's going to take a year and a half to rebuild this place". He snapped his fingers and he was transported at the grasslands, "Now where did I hid that bus". He began searching for the death bus and after quite a while he finally found it, he went inside and checked if it's okay. He looked at the glove compartment and he took out a card, "This will come in handy". He placed it in his pocket and he started the engine, it was busted. It took a couple of hours to fix the engine and after that his ride begun, he drove through the candy kingdom on the way to the Bad Lands and upon arriving there the tires switched into ones that can drive on sand.
Death turned on the cassette player and placed his mixtape inside, it was a collection of rock songs which surprisingly lifted up his spirits a bit. "Music really makes things different". Death was just cruising his way along the Bad Lands the only things he worried about are the individuals that saw him, they all froze in fear at the sight of death. They can't move and death needed to swerve from time to time, the MO Co. was far and halfway through the Bad Lands it turned into night. Death sets up for the night and he lied on top of his bus to look into the stars, "I can't believe that there's impending doom coming from such a beautiful place". The music continued to play while he slowly fell asleep.
Death woke up the next morning at noon, he quickly gathered his stuff and began driving again. "Damn I overslept, I also need to go back to my old form so the Moe can identify me". Death drove very fast, he covered the other half of the journey in under two hours. He stopped the bus in front of MO Co. and he stepped out of his bus to do his transformation, He became a thirty-three year old man. He looked into the mirror to see if he looked okay, "Alright time to meet the old man". He went inside the MO factory but the receptionist wasn't there, "Maybe he's on repair". Death walked in the middle of the factory and then the alarms went off, he tried to run but he finds himself surrounded by SMOs.
Death POV
I raised my hands as the security pointed their guns at me, "Non-MOs are not allowed state your business or be ready for vaporization". I took out the card from my pocket and the all placed down their weapons, one MO step forward and began scanning the card. "Authentication complete, welcome back Ethan. What is your business here"? I placed it back in my pocket and I said, "Take me to Moe, we need to talk about things". The MO nodded and he escorted me to a platform, the platform rode the rails and got me to Moe's room I got off and I swiped the card on the security panel on the door. It opened and I went inside to see a very old man with robots for organs and life support.
"Hello Ethan, or should I call you death. What is your business here"? I closed the door behind me and I said, "Nice to meet you too boss, I still can't believe how you cheated death for this long". "Heh, don't underestimate my mind. Anyway how's your brother, he almost destroyed my factory last time he visited". I scratched the back of my head and I said, "He's fine now, anyway I'm not here to get a trip down to memory lane". I wasn't finished talking when he interrupted me, "Hush Ethan why don't you sit down and join this old man in reminiscing". I tried to object but he was very pushy, Moseph was a very eccentric man despite his fortune he stayed humble towards others.
"Why don't you remove your disguise for a start"? I reverted back to my death form and he scanned me very carefully, "Your very lucky Ethan, you have true Immortality. Unlike me you don't need any effort to live forever". "Don't give me that, I never wanted this in the first place. Living forever means not being able to reunite with your loved ones on the other side". Moe calmed me down and he said, "Yes that was unfortunate, we did our best Ethan sorry that we failed you". I sighed and I sat back down, "That's all in the past now, besides I knew at that time that my mother's number was up". I was about to cry but Moe caught my attention and he gave me a cup of tea, I drank it and it tasted awful.
"Now that you have fulfilled my request Ethan it's time I do the same to you, so what is it you're looking for"? "Remember the last project I proposed to you"? Moe's eyes grew wide he looked away from me and he frowned. "I'm sorry I can't remember it, can you refresh my mind"? I almost fell out of my seat but for a being who lived for a thousand years it's understandable. "The memory device Moe, the machine that can manipulate a person's memory". "Yes I remember now, it was questioned by the people because they say it was unethical. What about it"? I showed him the machine Betty made and I said, "I need the software you created to run this machine".
Moe was carried by his robot towards a filing cabinet he opened it and took out a small security case. "Where will you use it Ethan, this software is very dangerous". "Finn the human is in a coma we suspected that his memories caused this problem, fixing it will has a chance to wake him up again". He nodded and as the robot carried him he said, "I remember that boy, he was the one who took care of BMO". When he was dropped in front of me he opens the case with a code, inside was a flash drive with a fingerprint scanner. He activated it and he said, "It's ready to use, open the case with this code and make sure to call me after installing it to your device". I took the case and I was escorted back out.
I went back to my bus and I placed the case on the dashboard, "We can finally wake him up". I drove back along the Bad Lands, despite how fast I was going, it still took me two days to get out of there and before going back directly to the house I took a break. I waited for a call from Primus if anything happened to my brother after an hour of waiting nothing happened, "I shouldn't worry too much I'm just getting more paranoid". I went back to driving, I passed through the candy kingdom. I stopped the bus where I left it and I began walking towards the house when suddenly my phone rang, "Death you are needed here, drop that case for now and get back here". I hid the case on my bus and I went to the council immediately.

Sage of Wisdom: true, love is a powerful thing. it made my life turn for the best. randomreader: I think this is the second time was dissatisfied with the story's direction but I'm not mad because it's understandable that some people won't agree with my mind but I will tell now that I have a clear vision of where the story is going and I don't think I can break that anymore(I hope it didn't sound offensive for you guys).
