And so, I give to you dear readers, the final part of Episode 4 . . . just kidding! This is only until after the holidays have rolled over, but I will try to update right before we enter the New Year. On my shallow grave. And what will go on, first Hotel Transylvania 2; I just can't believe they got Mel Brooks to do this movie, he's basically a living fossil in showbiz! And then, come Halloween, Goosebumps has finally been turned into the promised movie it's supposedly was back in the 90s, sure it's lighter toned for Goosebumps, but it's still awesome! So, Happy (early) Halloween and Thanksgiving as well as Merry (yet again early) Christmas. DreamWorks owns it's things, I own mine, same goes with other FF authors. Hope it'll be enough to satisfy. Lights! Camera! Keyboards! Mouses! Action!
P.S. Sorry if it seems rushed, Halloween and all.
Episode 4: Defenders Pt. 3: Saber Cat
It was yet another evening in Empire City as people went on their daily routines, most being excited as the Athlete Games were almost there. Yes, it was a time to get prepared for such an event, especially since it would be within the very city itself that made it all too diverting. A lone feline made his way down a side street, he appeared to be in his late-twenties. He had an average build that was covered with beige fur with a gray face (and pointed ears), long slender tail, short black hair, and blue eyes. He wore a pink T-shirt, beige slacks that was held up by a brown belt, and black shoes. He appeared to look at a very muscular stallion, when he noticed a single figure look around, then duck into an alley. Curious, he snuck into the alleyway to see what all the hubub was all about and was met by quite the sight; it was a small group of Raptorz members, with ski masks over their heads . . . and bags full of jewels! This changed everything . . .
The Raptorz members were enamored with their 'findings' . . . until a small trashcan was knocked over; signalling that there was someone else present!
"Who's there?!" The apparent lead Raptorz demanded.
It wasn't long after that he got his answer; something that was more than mortifying, to say in the least. The person in question appeared to be a male Smilodon; in other words: a Sabre-Toothed Tiger! He had a very muscular build that had light-brown fur with black stripes, long ivory Canin fangs, short brown hair and Golden-yellow eyes with slit irises. He wore (which was very little) were a pair of crimson-colored wristbands, boots, and even a pair of speedos! If it weren't for the fact that another Dinoid had appeared out of the blue with the other gangs, the Raptorz members would be seriously scarred from what the feline was wearing.
"Hey boys, mind I play?" The saber cat smirked maliciously.
At Firewalker Kung Fu, Robert was in the middle of locking up for the evening so that he and Amber could out, especially since their adopted child would be out on patrol after Track training. After sending the additional teachers home, and seeing that most of his students were prepping up for the Athlete Games, he decided that he would take his 'special lady' out for dinner. He whislted as he approached the front . . . when the distinctive sound of wood clanking met his hearing. Upon entering the mat, the grizzly saw that an individual (a scalie by the looks of the green tail) was practicing on a Mook Jhong. Odd, the signed did say closed, but the door must've still been unlocked . . . but why was this person here?
"Excuse me, sir, we're actually closed for the day." The grizzly approached.
"What, can't stay open for an old friend?" The person chuckled, then turned to reveal he was Jeremy Lu.
"Jeremy, hey, what's up?"
"Nothing much, just thought I'd drop by before taking the Mrs. out for dinner. I've also need to talk to you about something?"
"Which is-" Robert inquired, when he felt an arm loop onto his right arm.
"Hey, babe, ready to go?" Amber asked, then noticed the snake. "Hey, Jeremy, good to see you!"
"Likewise." Jeremy replied, hugging the feline. "Hope I didn't come at a bad time."
"We were actually going out to eat."
"I see that. Say, is Po around here somewhere?"
"No, he said he was going to hang out with Jeff after he was done training for the games." Robert replied, sensing the snake wasn't telling him something.
"Well, Vick's babysitting her sisters, I was taking the Mrs, out tonight." Jeremy smiled. "Hope you don't mind if we join you."
"Not at all, it'll be good to catch up on old times." Amber said rather quickly.
It was now or never.
She would finally talk to the one individual to one, insignificantly unimportant, gathering of many youth that were accompanied by chaperons (or not). The familiar form of the youngest of the Galifinakis girls, in a gymnast leotard that was similar to the one that Cynthia herself wore. Saying she was a gymnastics prodigy was certainly an understatement; she showed signs of her talents as young as six, with no teach till she was eight! Many praised her and her family would affectionately say she would be in the Olympics one day, though she insisted that it was only a hobby. Sure, many jealous girls would harass her and say 'things' about her, but those were nothing more than just girls looking for attention. They were all talk and absolutely no bite. Anyway, upon learning that Larry was helping out Po and Jeff for the Athlete Games, she thought she was going to have a stroke!
Just like anywhere else in the world, girls in leotards (hers being black with long white sleeves) and swimwear were hollered at by the guys, which was really embarrassing. It was because that she would be attack in more ways than one by jealous girls, it was because the boys only saw a pair of legs attached to a fine curvy body and a pair of . . . you know what. No, it was because that she wasn't she if either she or Larry would handle seeing each other in what the bat was currently wearing. After taking a few deep breathes, leotard or not, she was determined to have a few words with the ferret if it was the last thing she did! Her heart was pumping a hundred miles per hour and her mouth felt dryer than the Sahara Desert; she was nervous to the extreme, but if she failed now, she may never have another chance. It was at that time that the Track Team was finished with their routine and were all hitting the showers before heading home, which gave Emily just enough time to talk to Larry. As luck would have it, she found the ferret sitting on a bench just outside the locker rooms. She slowly approached the bench, driving away any second thoughts that began to sprout in her head; she was too far to just walk away now.
"H-h-hi . . . Larry . . ." Emily sputtered nervously.
This got the ferret's attention as he turned to look at the source of the voice . . . and his eyes nearly bulged out of his skull! Oh yeah, he definitely was taking seeing the bat in a leotard rather well; least he didn't faint. This made Emily's face turn several shades of red, but not enough to make her run away or rethink what she wanted to ask.
"Hi . . . Emily . . . you're with the gymnasts?" Larry gulped, straining to look at the bat in the eye.
"Y-yeah . . . I'm on the same team as Cynthia . . . Larry, I was wondering if you-"
"Ah, there you are; Emily!"
The sound of this voice made the ferret and bat want to bang their heads against an arctic glacier, hoping to give in to either the trauma to the cold. Despite their prayers, the source of the voice appeared as fast as cockroaches would scatter whenever lights were shined their way. The person in question was a young Tabby, who wore a male version of the gymnastics leotard; making both ferret and bat cringe at the sight. The feline had a very lithe build that had dark-brown fur with black stripes, flat muzzle with a pink nose, pointed ears, long slender tail, short Sandy-blonde hair, and putrid-green eyes. This person, much to the discomfort of the bat, was known as Phillip Farnsworth; heir to the Farnsworth fortune . . . And a total douche bag! Not only was this guy was an ego freak that was so full of himself that he'd pop like a balloon, but hew was also an infamous womanizer. He would go from girl to girl, having date a single one before breaking up after only a week, he would even acknowledge any of his exes and treat them like they were complete strangers. But the worst of all, he was always jet set on claiming the youngest Galifinakis; by any means necessary. Sure, if a girl rejected him long enough, he'd loose interest and move on to the next available pretty face that caught his eye . . . But no matter how many times Emily had turned him down, he never got the hint. As with most rich kids, he had low opinion on those who weren't as well connected or weren't so active enough to turn off the TV or get off their phone or music device. He especially had a severe dislike of Larry since he was the new stepson of Brisbane Wellington and (without a doubt) spending so much time with Emily.
"Hello . . . Phillip." Emily strained a smile. "I was talking to my friend as you could see."
"Oh, yes; Windsor." Phillip snorted, looking at Larry as if he were made of garbage, then smiled at the bat. "Anyway, Emily, I was hoping that we could talk about the dance coming up in a few weeks-"
"I'm afraid I'll be going with someone else. As you can see, Larry's already asked me."
"He did?!"
"I did?!" Larry questioned, then saw a look that begged him to play along. "I mean, yeah, I did."
"When, if I may be so curious." Phillip demanded, not looking pleased that his target was going with someone that wasn't him.
"Just the other day." Emily retorted, hoping the feline would get it through his thick skull.
"Right before the training started." Larry added, not liking the way the Tabby was talking. "Now, if you don't mind, Emily and I have to catch up with the others."
The two were quick to move, wanting to make quick distance from the feline as fast as they possible could. Unfortunately, they barley made two feet away when the bat was suddenly pulled away from the ferret. Larry turned to see Emily was grabbed by the arm, then found himself grabbed by the lapel. Both bat and ferret had the misfortune of being in the iron grasp of the now furious Tabby; apparently him not being wanted didn't go through to him.
"As a matter of fact, I do mind." Phillip growled.
"Let go, you're hurting me." Emily pleaded, struggling against her grip.
"What's your problem, man?!" Larry demanded, angered that the feline ignored his friend's pain.
"You are, have been trying to ask her out for weeks and suddenly she picks some dork over me; Phillip Farnsworth?!"
"What's that suppose to mean?"
"It means that while Emily Galifinakis, daughter of one of the most richest families in Seattle, could be dating the most talented gymnast in Empire City and well connected dream boat; she instead chooses to spend time with the biggest dork in the city. This is an insult! A whelp like you is not worthy of such a belle as Emily, setpson to a Wellington or not! You and her being together would be atrocious and I, for one, will not stand for it!"
"Oh, you won't, huh?"
"No, I will no-" Phillip trailed off soon as he faced the new person present.
Much to the feline's horror, as well as the relief of the ferret and bat, the form of Cynthia Takeda stood before the three; sporting a deep scowl. She looked to where the feline was grabbing the ferret and bat, leading him to follow her stares and release his grip. He gave a sheepish smile as he fixed the lapels on Larry's shirt, then promptly inched away from him. Let it be known that Cynthia also had a rep for having a personality similar to that of a bodyguard when it came to her friends and family. Her skills in gymnastics came in second to her Black Belt status in Kenpo Karate, via Sensei Parker and son.
"Care to explain what you were doing to my friends?" Cynthia asked rather calmly, her voice as cold as ice as it sent chills down Farnsworth's spine.
"I-I-I was just . . . uh . . . 'palin around', you know?" Phillip sputtered in fear. "I . . . just had something to ask Emily some . . . thing."
"Care to explain this?"
The squirrel took out her touch phone, typed on something, then showed what appeared to be her documenting her training for the games. Right before anyone could ask what the purpose of this was, the next slide showed Cynthia looking away from the phone and abruptly stop talking. Her stare hardened and the feed then showed the feline ranting while he grabbed the ferret and bat; making Farnsworth sweat uncontrollably.
"Well . . . I should be going, goodbye!" Phillip hastily said, moving quick to get away.
"Hold it!" Cynthia commanded, forcing the feline to stop in his tracks. "Before you leave, I'd like to say some things."
"W-w-which are . . ?"
"That, from this day forth, you should consider staying at a distance away from Emily and Larry. You think I didn't hear what you were saying to him? Guess again! I happen to know that Larry can hang out and talk to her if she allows it. I swear, if it isn't for the fact your head is swelled by It also occurs to me that you laid a hand on her without her permission, of which she made clear of her discomfort that you ignored immensely. Don't think I don't know about you're womanizing tendencies; a few girls on the Cheer Squad still have the tears to prove of all that! Emily deserves way better than what you are and even when she made it clear she had no interest in you; you still continued to harass her without consideration of her feelings. If I see you near either of these two ever, and I mean it when I say ever, again; I'll involve the cops next time! If they can't do anything . . . . well, I can only imagine what her sisters will do . . . or her father . . . Pretty sure they'll be . . . upset if I were to show them this feed. Now scat!"
The feline was quick to flee the scene, fearing not only the authorities, but also the wrath of the whole Galifinakis Family to boot! Emily looked to the squirrel with a bright gleam in her eyes, almost as if she was a Godsend. Besides her sisters, the youngest Galifinakis idolized Cynthia for both her talents in gymnastics as well as her caring nature. It was almost as if she had found a sister outside of her family that had her back no matter what had happened, if that was possible.
"Well, that was fun." Cynthia smiled, her aura changing from dark to light. "Ready to go, Larry?"
"Actually, Cynthia, Larry and I have something to talk about." Emily spoke up, her ears turning several shades of red.
"We do?" Larry asked, confused.
"It won't take long, i just need to ask him something." Emily replied nervously, her intentions becoming obvious to the squirrel.
"No, problem, we'll be waiting for you outside; Larry." Cynthia stated, walking away. "Play nice, you two."
This left the two alone at last, call it luck or a miracle, Emily was finally ready to say what she wanted to Larry what was driving her crazy the past few months.
"So, you know about the graduation dance coming up?" Emily asked with a shy smile.
The squirrel was feeling pretty good about herself, especially since she was pretty sure that she thought the two looked so adorable together and that Farnswarth would be keeping his distance from that day forth. Maybe it was her inner female, maybe it was because of her time with Jeff, whatever the reason; she just knew that the ferret and bat were just so perfect for each other. She could only imagine what Po, Jeff and Andy would say about this. Then again, how was Larry going to tell them how he felt about her? Whatever their decision would be, she and the rest of the guys would support the ferret and be happy that he had found someone.
"Uh . . . Cynthia?"
The squirrel was shook out of her thoughts when she heard that voice, it wasn't some one bad per se . . . but it was certainly surprising since she wasn't expecting them to talk to her. Turning around, Cynthia found herself face to face with none other than Vicky Lu; a surprise it was indeed. Sure, they were on the same team and would be competing in the Athlete Games soon as it arrives, but this was the first time after a year that she said something to her. Not counting the times she would avoid the snake up until Po came back to Empire City and became Dragon, but still. Another reason it was surprising was for the fact that she knew her dual identity from mentioned panda and it would prove difficult to play ignorant.
"Hey . . . Vicky . . . how can I help you?" Cynthia asked carefully.
"First and for most: I know I haven't been anything near a friend after . . . well . . . Tai Lung." Vicky started, albeit hesitantly. "But I'm hoping to change all that."
Yet again, surprise had hit the squirrel like a ten ton pile of cinder blocks that was raised about a thousand stories in the air. Yes, she was mad that Vicky chose to defend Terri after the tiger didn't help Po after Tai Lung hurt him, but couldn't help but felt sympathetic when she saw the snake wanted to make amends. It was weird that their both had younger siblings (well, Cynthia only had one sister and Vicky had two) that were friends with each other and had zero knowledge that their older sisters had a strained friendship. Despite that, they and their parents both supported that friendship, though kept silent on other things. That, however, didn't mean she would allow the snake to get close to her panda friend just like that; no, she'd have to earn it through said panda himself, and he could be very stubborn.
"Look, Vicks, I appreciate you telling me this, but I'm not going to betray Po's trust-"
"I'm not asking you to, believe me; I understand. That's why I'm starting slow and with you first, not just because you're a girl. We're both on the Gymnastics Team for the games and we need to work as a team if we're going to succeed. If we can't put our differences aside for the competition, then let's at least do it for our sisters. Their friendship is way better that ours at the moment and I don't want to hurt them like that."
A new feeling came over the young squirrel, sure she was surprised for a third strike, but she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by this new feeling: empathy. After considering the snake's words, the squirrel found no trace of lies or hidden motives; anything that would prove she was up to no good. Cynthia knew Vicky, despite their lack of socialization, was a good person: caring, sweet and a heart as large as the Wellington International building. It was doubtful that she'd do anything so bad or anything bad-related; her father raised her better than that. In truth, the squirrel admired the snake's skills in Martial Arts and Ribbon Dancing so much, she thought she should start her own live performance show. Cynthia certainly knew a connection in the entertainment department. As much as there was animosity between them, Cynthia believed in what Vicky was saying and secretly agreed that she wanted to be friends again like old times as well. It was going to be a very (months or years, she knew not) long time when it cam to making a start with Terri Hue, that was obvious, but it was for their sisters as well as the games and for the sake of friendship; what the hell? Still, she'd still have to inform the others and keep an eye out . . .
"I'm still upset and disappointed over your past actions, don't get me wrong." Cynthia stated, making the snake cringe. "But you're right, that's why I'm willing to give you a chance to redeem yourself."
"Thank you!" Vicky squealed happily, flinging herself into an embrace with the squirrel. "I promise I won't let you down!"
It was late in the evening as Dragon found himself on patrol, yes he had his plate full with with the Athlete Games coming, but he felt so much inspiration that he just had to get to "work". Jumping from building to building, an all too familiar sound of crashing caught his attention, which was actually very close. It wasn't long after that he had finally made it to the area, but soon as he arrived . . . it was an absolute mess! Raptorz members were spread all over the alley, broken and busted up as if there were a hurricane. But that wasn't what got to him, what really got to him was the one figure that was fleeing the scene. As if it sensed his presence, the figure turned around, revealing himself as a Saber Cat that looked like he belonged in a Conan the Barbarian story! Dragon swore that if this person took out a magic sword and call out 'By the Power of Greyskull!' or "I have the Power!" ; he'd ram himself into a brick wall! The feline merely smirked, then made a shooting gesture before disappearing around the corner. This left the hero stare in disbelief, especially since it looked as though the cat appeared to have a few bags with him . . .
". . . What was that?" Dragon asked himself.
To Be Continued: Defenders Pt. 4: Flame Bird
And we are clear! I sincerely hope that this chap was up to everyone's satisfaction, especially with all the limited time I had to type and what not. Anyway, thank you all so much for the love and support for this story, especially since it's not really that original to begin with. The final part of the episode will come to pass, but for now, I must put this story aside to plan my holiday stories. Again, movies coming out: Hotel Transylvania 2, Goosebumps, Paranormal Activity, 007 SPECTRE, Mockingjay part 2, Krampus and Star Wars are what I'm looking forward to. What about you? Well, till before the New Year comes a calling, and Winter starts fallling, this is the King of 2211, signing off.
PLEAS READ: Please understand, and READ, that I'll be taking a break to make holiday fics of other franchises. I also ask politely that no one pressures me; I work two jobs that run me ragged. I promise to pick up the final part of Episode 4 before the New Year, but all I ask from the readers id patience. Writer's Block can be caused from pressuring.
