Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto and never will.

Note: So I realized that some of my readers were confused by some parts of the story. I deeply apologize for that. To sum up the story, three years have passed. Sasuke begins a relationship with Sakura. Hinata has a child named Take. Somebody asked me when did Sasuke and Hinata have sex, well it happened in chapter 16. I tried to hint it in the beginning of the chapter that they did. Sorry for the confusion, I should have been more descriptive. Enjoy.

Chapter 21 The Lies

"Sasuke-kun?"

Sasuke wobbled his head to snap out of the trance he was in. "Yeah?"

"Are you okay?" Sakura studied the Uchiha with a worried look.

"Yeah."

She quietly observed the Uchiha as he packed for his trip. She didn't like it when he would stare out into space. She was afraid that he would remember everything but the probability of getting his memory back was low. She wanted him for herself and now she had him after all these years.

Flashback: Konoha Hospital- Before the time skip.

"Sasuke-kun," mumbled the Haruno.

Sakura waited patiently for Sasuke to awaken.

"Let the boy rest," whispered Mebuki.

"Mother…I'm just worried," frowned Sakura as she held onto his hand.

"I know."

Sakura gently placed Sasuke's hand to his side and left the room. Mebuki followed her. "I should bring in Hinata. I'm pretty sure she wants to see how he is doing since she is in love with him."

"She's not."

"It's obvious mother," stated Sakura.

"Then why did she leave the village with that Shoji kid?" asked Mebuki.

"What? She left the village?" Sakura gave her mother a puzzled look.

"Yeah. She told me that she was not in love with Sasuke and thought this was the perfect opportunity to leave."

"That can't be," Sakura glanced through the window to look at Sasuke and then back at her mother. "She's not in love with Sasuke-kun?"

"She never was." Mebuki handed her daughter a picture.

Sakura couldn't believe what she was seeing. Hinata, packed with her belongings, was walking out the Konoha entrance with Shoji. "So she was playing him all along," muttered Sakura, crushing the photo in her hands. "What's going to happen now?"

"This I your chance," smiled her mother.

"Chance?" questioned Sakura.

"To be with him. Since he lost his memory of the Hyuga, now is your opportunity to be with him."

"You mean lie to him?" Sakura tilted her head to the left with a confusing look.

"Not exactly. You don't want to tell him the truth, now do you? You won't know what it will do to him if you tell him about the Hyuga."

Sakura gave her mother an uncertain look. "Isn't he going to be asking around the village about what really happened?"

"Nonsense," Mebuki crossed her arms. "Leave everything to me."

"Excuse me Sakura-san but Sasuke-san is awake," stated the nurse as she came out of his room.

Sakura quickly rushed to his side. She couldn't believe Hinata was capable of doing such a thing. She knew that she had to protect Sasuke from the truth, even if he never remembers. "Sasuke-kun!" she gave the Uchiha a hug.

Sasuke looked down as his bangs dangled over his face. He had awoken earlier but couldn't recall anything. He still couldn't remember anything. Sakura had told him of his condition but he was in total disbelief that he could have lost his memory. "Why are you still here?

Sakura let go of the Uchiha. "I'm looking after you."

"I'm leaving," Sasuke stepped out of the bed but tumbled in the process.

"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura ran to his side. "Please, you're in no condition to go off on your own."

"I don't need help," he snapped as he spanked her hand away. With all his force, he managed to pull himself back onto the bed.

Sakura's faint attraction vanished, replaced by hurt and shock over his actions.

Mebuki put on an unsympathetic face. She was annoyed that Sasuke was still treating her daughter like that. She walked towards him and gave him a firm slap on the face.

BAM!

"What the hell was that for!" shouted the Uchiha as he rubbed his right cheek to soothe the pain away.

"How dare you treat my daughter that way! You were about to die but Sakura saved you!" she snapped at him.

Sasuke was silent

"Mother," mumbled Sakura.

"Open you eyes and see that she will always be here for you," Mebuki gave the Uchiha a long disappointing look. "You're 23 years old now, you should be settling down like the rest of your friends."

Mebuki turned away and started pacing back and forth. She was waiting for Sasuke to say something.

Sasuke stared bleakly in space.

Mebuki halted in her pacing and glanced back towards Sasuke.

Sasuke leaned back against his pillow, arms crossed. He decided to stay quiet but then noticed something dangle beneath his shirt. "What the hell is this?" he took the necklace off. "Why am I wearing this stupid thing?"

Both Sakura and Mebuki stared.

Sasuke continued to study the object in his hand.

"I can't believe you can't remember," scoffed Mebuki. She figured Hinata had given it to him so she had to make up a lie.

"What?" he asked.

"Sakura gave it to you," answered Mebuki.

"If she gave me this, then where is the other half?" he gave her a smart-ass tone. He noticed Sakura not wearing anything around her neck.

"She…."Mebuki was speechless.

"I lost it during a mission," stated Sakura.

Sasuke arched an eyebrow. His had his usual emotionless expression as he studied his teammate. Without much thought, he actually believed that she was capable of giving him a stupid thing like that. He slipped the object into his pockets.

"Please rest Sasuke-kun," Sakura gently placed her hand on his arm.

Sasuke crossed his arms over his chest once again.

"How do you feel?" examined Sakura.

"Ok," he replied.

Mebuki watched as her daughter continued to ask the Uchiha questions. Her plan was going well. Sakura will be with Sasuke as she had envisioned, yet her plans were far from being finished. She needed to deal with the villagers. Sasuke must not know anything about Hinata even if it meant to lie. She had to tell everyone that the Hyuga ran off with Shoji.

End of flashback

"What's wrong?" asked the Uchiha. He noticed the Haruno began to become edgy.

"Eeeek!" squealed Sakura. "Nothing!" she said, hoping to sound calm.

"Well, I'm leaving," he waved her a goodbye. He made his way towards the Konoha entrance with his backpack dangling over his right shoulder. As he walked, he drifted away from reality and into his own thoughts. After all these years he had finally given the Haruno a chance. He knew that she loved him, well everyone knew, and decided to tie the knot. He was 26 years old now; sooner or later he had to rebuild his clan even if it was with her. Did he love her? He wasn't so sure. Even though they have been dating for two years, deep down inside he knew that something wasn't right. He felt that there was something important that he had forgotten but no matter how hard he tried remembering, nothing came up. He asked the villagers for some answers but they all told him nothing. Nobody knew anything, not even his aunt. When he tried to talk about it, she wouldn't quickly change the subject. As he arrived at the Konoha gate, he noticed Naruto as well as his best anbu waiting for his arrival.

"Sasuke!" waved the Uzumaki.

Sasuke gave the Hokage a nod. He slipped his hands into his pockets and continued walking. Sasuke decided to accompany Naruto on his journey to Sunagakure. He desperately needed to get out of Konoha and get some fresh air. He let out a long sigh. 'I hope this trip is much more interesting than here.'

At Sunagakure

"Kazi!" Take ran towards Gaara, handing him the bento. "We bought you bento."

Gaara gave the kid a nod of approval. "Thanks Take."

Take made his way around his desk and attempted to sit on his chair. Gaara gave him a push.

"I'm gonna be a Kazi one day," smiled Take.

Gaara gave a light chuckle. He removed his Kage cap and placed it on Take. "You will one day."

Take titled his head back to slide the cap away from his view. It was obviously too big for him. "What you think mommy?"

"Of course," smiled the Hyuga.

"Yay!" shouted the three year old. "I'm gonna be strong like Kazi."

The Kazekage and Hyuga chuckled at his remarks.

Take jumped off the chair and walked towards Gaara nervously. "Umm this is for you Kazi," he handed him a sheet of paper.

The Hyuga gave her son a puzzled look. Why didn't he inform her of the paper first?

Take hid his embarrassment with the Kage's hat. He twiddled his fingers together, waiting for an answer from the Kazekage.

Gaara passed the sheet to his mother. Hinata flinched back by surprise. It read:

Dear parents,

Next week we are having an exciting event at the day care. Remember when we had 'Bring your mother special event'? Well now we are going to have another event for fathers. Please contact me as soon as possible if you are going to be able to make it to this wonderful event.

Sincerely,

Ayami-senapai

...

"Takeuchi….." Hinata said weakly.

Gaara shifted closer to Take, bending down until they were at eye level. He removed the Kage cap off of him. "I'll go."

Take, arms crossed, looked away to avoid eye contact. He regarded him skeptically. "Pinky swear?" he stuck out his right pinky.

"Yes, pinky swear," Gaara wrapped his pinky around Take's.

"Thanks Kazi!" Take returned to his normal self.

Hinata couldn't resist but smile at the cute little scene. She eyed her son to stop pestering the Kazekage. "Well I am going back to work. Are you going to be okay here Take?"

"Yes mommy," smiled the boy.

"I'll pick you up later," she gave her son a kiss on the check.

"Mommy…not in front of Kazi," groaned Take. He crossed his arms and looked away from his mother humiliated.

"I have an important meeting today, but Kankuro will take care of him," informed Gaara.

"Thank you Kazekage-sama," she bowed.

"You can call me Gaara," he gave her a small smile.

"Hai," smiled the Hyuga.

Shortly after Hinata left, Kankuro entered the room.

"You called?" asked Kankuro.

"Clown man!" Take stuck his tongue out to the puppeteer in a humorous manner.

"Take care of him until I'm finished with this meeting," exclaimed Gaara.

Kankuro gave the Kazekage a nod. "Come on Take."

"Catch me if you caaaaaa…." As Take ran out the door, a strong force pushed him away.

"Watch where you're going brat."

Take landed on his bottom. "Owwwy!" he rubbed his nose to ease the pain. He looked up at the looming form standing in front of him and gave him a hard stare. A quick feeling of curiosity filled his mind as he set his eyes on the man's right shoulder. The metal part of the headband was sewn onto his shirt where the village insignia glimmered from reflection of the light. 'What place is he from?' he thought, still amused by the symbol.

"Let's go Take," Kankuro grabbed the boy and carried him underneath his underarms.

Take continued to observe the man as he was being carried away. He found the man very interesting and somehow wanted to know more about him.

"Hey where are you going Sasuke?" a voice was heard.

'Sasikay?' thought Take. He looked up at Kankuro and then back at the man.

"Somewhere but here," the man waved his hand in a clumsy manor as he walked out the building.

A few moments later

"Hey Take, what do you want to…." Kankuro paused for a moment as he realized the weight he was carrying was gone. He looked down and to his surprise Take had disappeared. "Not again!"

Note: Well I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. As you can see, Mebuki is a very awful person. She even lied to her own daughter about why Hinata really left. Also, many asked, 'Why did Sakura end up with Sasuke?' Well he has to rebuild his clan sooner or later. If you have questions, I will be gladly to answer them. Thank you for reading my story so far. =)

Kankuro: Where the heck did you go this time Take!

Take: Sasikay!

Sasuke: It's pronounced Sasuke, you little brat.

Shoji: *pushes Sasuke out the way* Why didn't I make an appearance! C'mon readers, beg for my appearance! *begins to cry*

Liffierout: Sorry Shoji, but I think they want to see Sasuhina and Gaahina parts. Stay tune for the next chapter. =)
