Disclaimer: Naruto belongs to Masashi Kishimoto and TV Tokyo. Also, the plot for this story was based off an animated movie called Strange Magic that I saw on Netflix once, although of course it's filled with my own little twists.

Author's Note: Sorry for the somewhat shorter chapter.

Sasori

When he woke up the next morning, something felt wrong. Something felt incredibly wrong. He got himself out of bed and looked around the room, Deidara hadn't come back last night. If he wasn't here, it would mean that he was in the room next door. So, Sasori exited his own bedroom and entered the next door over. But when he looked on the bed, he saw no brat. Where the hell was he? Sasori specifically instructed he sleep here if it was late.

He closed the door and went back into his own room, pacing back and forth. When the door opened, he stopped and went to glare at the brat for disappearing like that but instead he only saw Kisame. The king scowled almost instantly and Kisame seemed to take a small step back. He should be taking a small step back because Sasori needed to find that fucking brat so he could kill him!

"Where's the brat?" Sasori demanded.

"Your Highness, Chiyo took him to the room next door as you requested and when she went to check on him this morning, he was gone."

"You let him escape!? No, how could he get out himself? He doesn't know the territory, but I showed it to him yesterday... I want him back here, I want him back now!"

Sasori's rage took over his emotions, and his previous desire to help the blonde escape was gone. He didn't fucking care what happened to the brat, as long as he was right beside him at all times. With a single word, each subject in his kingdom was turned into a search party. Gaara and his men joined in as soon as they heard of it, and no one dared approached the angry king.

That prince belonged to Sasori, he was the king's brat. And he had the audacity to run away from him!? When Sasori found him, he'd make that fucking brat sorry and he'd never leave again. Not ever! He didn't get his love potion back, meaning the blonde was still his, and he was going to get him back. And as soon as he did, he was calling the deal off. He'd make the fucking brat into a puppet, and they could be together forever.

He stormed into his room and the door was slammed shut. His feet carried him back and forth and back and forth as he paced, but no relief came for his anger. When his eyes rested on the clay scorpion, it only sky rocketed as he snatched it in his hand and went to crush it. But something stopped him, a very poorly folded piece of paper sitting on his night table. He was sure it wasn't there before, it had deliberately been placed under the clay scorpion.

Sasori placed the clay figure back down and lifted the folded piece of paper, wondering exactly what happened to it. It looked like it got mauled or run over or something like that. Finally unfolding the atrocious-looking paper, his eyes fell on the messy scribbles of writing that he could barely read. Who the actual fuck made this? It looks like it was written by a toddler!

Dear Danna,

Sasori's thoughts went silent, there was only one person that called him that. He wasn't surprised that the brat had terrible writing, and he also wasn't surprised at the condition of the note anymore. In fact, everything just made a lot more sense. However, it still didn't answer the most important question. Why, exactly, had Deidara written him a note or a letter or whatever he wanted to call it.

I don't know when you'll get this, so I'll just assume you don't know what's going on. If you're currently trying to find me, then don't. I'm already long gone, and probably back in my own kingdom at this point. Last night when no one was looking I just took off and navigated myself to the border. No one helped me, so don't get all pissy with everyone like you do sometimes.

He was really gone? The brat had ran off? Sasori cursed under his breath as he crumpled the piece of paper in his hands. He didn't want to read it, he didn't care what that fucking brat had to say. He drew him arm back and chucked the little paper ball to the door. Although of course it opened just as he did, and it ended up hitting Chiyo. His grandmother only glared as she picked it up, and began to unfold it.

"Sasori, you need to read this," she ordered him.

"I don't give a fuck about what that brat has to say."

"I'm not kidding, Sasori. You need to read this."

Hearing the seriousness in his grandmother's tone, he rose to his feet and approached her, snatching the piece of paper from her hands. He quickly scanned the beginning again that he had already seen before finding the place in which he had left off. Giving a final glance to his grandmother, she seemed to be set on him reading it. So, Sasori read the stupid note.

I'm sorry you never got the potion back, and I promise that I'll have it returned as soon as we find it. It shouldn't have been stolen in the first place, and I promise you will get it back. It may take a while, but a Namikaze promise is a sure one. After all, we're known for never going back on our words. Well, my younger brother is. Still, I'm gonna borrow that for this, if that makes sense. Oh, I dunno.

Sasori couldn't help but chuckle at the blonde's foolishness, even in writing he was such a brat. He was seriously surprised, however, that he hadn't written that annoyingly attractive nasal grunt of his. At first it had driven him crazy, but now it felt weird not hearing it. He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he did like the little 'un's he added in at the end of all his sentences.

I didn't run away because I wanted to escape, so please don't think that. We had a lot of fun, and I consider you as a great friend. I hope that we can meet up or sort something out between our two kingdoms so we can see each other again. Anyway, on to business. I overheard a meeting between the Sand and some or your men. That's why I ended up in the dining room with Orochimaru and Kabuto.

A meeting between Gaara and his men? Why would they be having a meeting? Sasori certainly hadn't been there, it just didn't make sense. Perhaps they had simply ran into one another and were having breakfast? But no, the door had been locked. But it would make sense for Orochimaru and Kabuto to lock it considering what they were doing. But still, there was something he was missing.

They're planning to overthrow you, and then attack my kingdom. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you in person, but I couldn't risk you not believing me. If you didn't, then I may not have been able to get home to protect my kingdom. Orochimaru seems to be the leader of the group in your own kingdom, and they're helping Gaara take over your kingdom. Then Gaara will help them take over mine. Be careful who you trust, but don't turn your back on your friends. Chiyo, Kakuzu, Kisame and Zetsu are on your side, I promise you.

Overthrow him? Sasori growled lowly under his breath, no way in fucking hell were the Sand Kingdom going to overthrow him. He sent a glance to Chiyo, and she understood right away. Gather all the most trusted soldiers in the kingdom, and launch an attack. The Dark Forest was going to chase Suna out, before they could launch their attack. After Chiyo took her lead, Sasori quickly returned to the letter.

Please understand why I did what I did, I have to protect my kingdom. It's my duty as the heir, and I can't let any of my subjects be harmed. I trust that you'll be alright, but please be careful. A while ago we talked about signing a treaty between our kingdoms. After all this conspiracy blows over, you should send a messenger or something if you're still interested. It might be difficult to convince my father, but I'll definitely suggest it.

Of course Sasori understood, and now he felt bad for being so angry. Deidara was only trying to protect his home, just like Sasori protected his. As for the treaty, the king knew he'd be sending that messenger as soon as he got the chance. Deidara was his friend, and he made the redhead realize many things. He'd began to go soft, and he knew that if he were to face Deidara on a battle field... he couldn't kill him. He owed the blonde for everything he'd done, and he'd never forgive himself if he was to take his life.

I'm going to try to come out to my father soon. You were right about what you said, sometimes people will surprise you. So I'm going to try it and hope for the best. I asked you if you'd miss me when I left, so are you missing me now? I'm probably missing you, wherever I am right now. You and your stupid puppets. I'll miss the Dark Forest in general, and I hope I can come see it again some day. Hey, maybe you can come here and I'll show you around my kingdom!

Sasori's lips twitched upwards in a smile, and he decided he liked the idea. Later, maybe he would go see the Fairy Kingdom for himself. And of course he'd never admit it out loud, but he felt himself missing that brat. Deidara would never let him live it down if he found out, in fact neither would Chiyo, but he did. His grunts, his smiles, his sarcastic comments. He missed Deidara.

You better not forget me!
I'll be waiting for your messenger,

Deidara

Sasori reached up to touch his cheek, wiping away the wetness. Why was he crying? He couldn't recall doing so for a very long time, not since his mother passed. Why did he feel like he'd just lost his mother all over again? Why was his heart throbbing the way it was? He didn't like the feeling, not at all. He wanted, no, he needed it to go away. What had that stupid brat done to him?

Sasori knew the answer, but he locked that part of his mind away. He couldn't be thinking that way, he couldn't. Love was weakness, the phrase Sasori had been raised on. There was no 'love' in the Dark Forest. Besides, Deidara was a male. Sure, he told Deidara to come out to his father and all, but he had siblings. Sasori was an only child with two dead parents, so he actually needed an heir. Deidara couldn't give him that, and no way would that brat fall for a man like him anyway.

"Sasori?"

"Yes, Granny?"

"The Sand nin are gone, as well as quite a few of your own men."

"Have they been located?"

"No, but based on that letter... I think I know where they're going."

"Gather the troops, we're heading out to the Fairy Kingdom immediately."

Chiyo nodded in response as she rushed from the room, and the king went straight to his closet. He saw his armor hanging on it's own, and he knew it'd been a while since the last time he touched it. It was removed from his closet and the redhead quickly began to put it on, not seeing the point in calling a servant to help him. In the past he had always done so, but this time he had to move quickly.

Chiyo reentered his room just as Sasori placed his sword in it's hilt. No words were spoken as his grandmother pulled him into a hug, and for once the redhead returned it. Perhaps they had never gotten along before, but she was family. Another thing he wouldn't admit, was that he truly did care about his grandmother. He hadn't until recently, but now he did. He hoped that she would be alright, and she worried for his safety.

"Be careful," Chiyo finally spoke.

"I will. Look after the castle for me, and I'll be back soon."

"You better be, and take care of Deidara. Don't be afraid of your feelings."

"W-what?"

"Honey, I'm your granny. I watched you grow up, I can just tell. I'm glad you've finally opened up your heart to someone."

"Heh, you must be celebrating right now. That damned brat made me gay."

"I guess he did. Now, go to him."
