Chapter 21

Happy Birthday Doctor Who

Lestrade fiddled with the remote, flicking the channels until he came to BBC One. A smile lit up his face and he turned his head towards the blond figure perched on the couch. John was on his laptop, clicking away on his blog about what wonders they were all going to experience tonight and the excitement he and everyone else in the flat were feeling. The army doctor had gone all out tonight, dressing up in a long colorful scarf. Lestrade had dressed up as the big game hunter from the seventh season after Sherlock and John finished nagging him. Apparently he looked very much like the character.

"TV ready?" John questioned with a smile when he noticed Lestrade staring at him. Lestrade nodded, getting up on his feet and taking a seat next to John.

"Now we just need Mrs. Hudson and Sherlock…where are they by the way-"

"We're here!" Mrs. Hudson called, opening the door to their flat with Sherlock right behind her. John and Lestrade instantly had smiles on their faces at the sight of the two.

"Hello, Eleven and Sarah Jane! Ready for our Whovian party?" Lestrade teased. Mrs. Hudson had her hair down and had sonic lipstick sticking out of her breast pocket. Sherlock had his hair pushed to the side, a red bow tie, and a coat much like the eleventh Doctor's. The two looked perfect.

"Of course, Dear! Now I have TARDIS cake, those little bow tie noodles, sonic screwdriver drinks…"

"Looks amazing Mrs. Hudson," John laughed, waving the two of them over towards the couch. Sherlock took the tray of food from Mrs. Hudson, setting it on the coffee table before taking her hand and leading her to his and John's chair. Lestrade glanced around himself. He's been watching Doctor Who since he was a kid just like Mrs. Hudson and when he found out John and Sherlock watched it too during their free time…well, their world erupted into a colorful world of quantum physics, space ships and more. He silently thanked the show for being created. It was fun and heartwarming. Even Sherlock Holmes enjoyed The Doctor's company. He had told them that when he was a small it was a great way to escape the real world and even now it still was. Sometimes John and Lestrade would even catch Sherlock quoting The Doctor during cases or rants.

"How much longer?" Sherlock asked, fiddling with the bow tie wrapped around his neck. John checked his watch and smirked.

"Counting down!" John shouted suddenly and everyone stared at the television, instantly shaking with anticipation. It was so close now. The 50th anniversary was only a few ticks away.

"5,4,3,2,1! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOCTOR WHO!" they cried as the Doctor Who theme began to play on the television.

HELLO FELLOW WHOVIANS AND HAPPY BRITHDAY DOCTOR WHO! In honor of this awesome day I give you the Baker Street gang! I am so excited for the 50th. My friend got BBC America so I won't have to wait for it to come to a theater around my area so I'm a fangirling mess. I've been watching Doctor Who since I was around eight years old and it has affected my life greatly. The Doctor is there on my screen when upset or lonely and I owe this show so much. I love it and always will. I hope you all enjoy the chapter and The Day of The Doctor!
