Leila LSJ: Thanks for the compliment! I'll make sure I'll stay evil enough for the sequel!
Daygon Yuuki: Yes of course there will be a sequel! I am not sure when I'll get it up and going, though. I am working on it, but I have other fanfictions to write too.
simsimchocolatte: Ehehehehe... Thanks for the compliment though!
Rinfantasy: I'm glad that you actually caught the meaning of the chapter! Akashi finally learned the meaning of life, and he will certainly wait for his reincarnation.
Eclipsekuran: You know, you remind me of Kuroko. Your reviews are always so... Emotionless? No offense, by the way.
Kuroko-SenPaille: Uh... Your Tetsu...?
Shinseishinwa: Yay! Last chapter, the end of all the feels! Are you glad now?
ghost reader: Um... Not actually... But its close enough!
PsychoRiem: I am well aware of the fast paced chapter. I can't help it, and every writer has his or her own weakness! I'm trying to work on my mistakes, and hopefully I can improve of them in the sequel!
CynthiaRosenDale: For your information, I don't put random author notes throughout the chapter since Chapter 6. The only times I put in author notes are before the chapter starts and after the chapter ends. I only put it before a song starts, so it is not random. I do appreciate you reading my fic though.
Hey minna! Here's the last chapter as promised. And I hoped you will all enjoy it! I had a bit if difficulty writing this but I certainly got it out in the end! I would like to say thank you to all of you who have supported this fic since it was first published. I am really grateful to your endless support! So I hope you all enjoy this last chapter of Sacred Heart! There will be a sequel, but I do not know when I will get it up and going so please be patient!
It has been a week since that day. Japan is now peaceful, and the remaining Huns quickly surrendered, their leader was dead after all. The emperor is safe and there's were only a few casualties in the last battle.
And it has been a week since he died.
Aomine stood awkwardly as Kise's mother wept over the death of her son. He had bumped into her on his way back to his village and she had asked him about Kise. The truth came out and soon, the woman was crying buckets of tears over the death of her only son.
The woman dries her eyes with a handkerchief, holding in a sniffle. "I'm sorry you have to witness that scene, it is rather embarrassing."
Aomine shifted nervously. "It's no matter. Kise is..." He swallowed. "He has been a good friend and comrade."
"At least, I know that my son died for the peace of the country," the woman's voice had a distinct tremble in it. "He was such a good boy, never complaining with his chores... Our family has been in a financial crisis since the death of my husband. My two daughters had been of great help, but Ryouta was the one who did most of the odd jobs."
Aomine smiled, imagining Kise doing all sorts of work in an apron. Then again, he wasn't surprised. Kise after all had the gift of copying and he used that to help his family with their financial problems. Being a recruit in the army had earned them quite a bit of money too, but without Kise now, they wouldn't be able to manage.
Aomine felt his stomach gave a twist as he thought of how the death of Kise is troubling the old woman. He felt as though it was his fault that this woman was suffering so.
Then, Aomine made a decision that will change his whole life.
"I'll help you."
The woman looked at him in disbelief. "Excuse me. What?"
"I want to help you, do you not understand what that means?" Aomine asked, his impatient temper flaring.
The woman sniffed. "I don't need your pity."
"I'm not. So please may I help you?"
The blonde lady looked at Aomine. Something from this man made her trust him, and his eyes spoke the truth. She gave in to Aomine's request.
"I'm Aomine Daiki, obaa-san," Aomine introduced himself as a formal approach.
The woman gave him a weak smile. "No need to call me obaa-san, my dear. You are welcomed to call me Taiki, that's my name."
Aomine smiled back at her. "And you are welcomed to call me Daiki too."
Himuro was shopping for groceries in a wet market when a familiar voice called his name. He tuned around to find a man towering over him with long purple-white hair tied into a ponytail. This man, Himuro recognised as Murasakibara's uncle. The purple giant had never known his father, as his father was thrown in jail for a crime he had committed. Himuro had been childhood friends with Murasakibara, and had helped the large family of six with various house chores, as the Murasakibara never bothered, being too childish to do so.
"Uncle Daichi!" Himuro exclaimed, greeting the elder with a nod.
"Himuro, it is nice to see you again." The man, also known as Murasakibara Daichi, said. "You are back from the army, I believe?"
Himuro felt salty tears spring up in his eyes as he suddenly thought about Murasakibara, how he died and how he had never realised his feelings for him before it was too late.
"Where's Atsushi?" That innocent question was bound to be asked. And Himuro wasted no time to tell Daichi about what happened to his beloved nephew.
It turned out that Daichi had been away fulfilling his duties as a hunter when the Huns attacked Yosen Village. While the occupants of the village had unfortunately became victims to the Huns, Daichi was lucky that he was away to escape the Huns' murder spree. The man, however, blamed himself for not being able to protect his family from danger's embrace.
The two men moaned the deaths of their loved ones. And they prayed that their souls would find peace at last.
Takao's parents did not take the news of their son's death well. In fact, they blamed Midorima for not protecting their son. It had not crossed their minds that lives are constantly endangered when war is going on, that their son had sacrificed himself for the peace of their country. When Midorima cane with the news, they did nothing but berate the green head for not being able to protect their son when he was supposed to be a genius medical doctor.
"Uncle and Aunt Takao," Midorima tried to to blink back the tears that had begun to form in his eyes. "I'm sorry. I am really sorry. With my hands that had gave back lives back to many, I had not managed to save Takao. But I can assure you one thing, Takao died a soldier's death. Peace has finally been delivered, and it is one of his many gifts to the country."
The two Kazunaris sobbed. Unconsciously. They threw their arms around the green head and hugged him tightly as he too began to cry.
Akashi took a deep breath as he knelt before the Kuroko Seitarou. After a week, he had finally gained the guts to pay a visit to the Kuroko household, with the news of their only son's death.
The Kuroko's had take the news quite badly, but they did nothing as they silently cried over their sons death. Momoi, the pink headed girl, had fled into her bedroom when she had heard the news. Akashi paid no attention to her, his only priority was the two elders before him.
"He... Was always the stubborn boy," Kuroko Yuuki, finally voiced out. "I'm glad my little boy is able to do something for his country."
Kuroko Seitarou looked crestfallen. "Now who is going to carry on the next generation of the Kurokos?"
"Don't forget your brother, Seizuma," Kuroko's mother put a comforting hand on her husband's shoulder.
The parents looked at the red head who was kneeling before them.
"Get up," Yuuki softly said. "This is not your fault, however you may think so."
Seitarou nodded in agreement. "You are a captain, Akashi-san! You are to hold yourself up with pride and dignity!"
Akashi hesitated, then he stood up. Seitarou was shocked to see a pair of red eyes staring at him. It brought back many memories of Akashi Akita, one of his recruits when he was a captain himself. Here is a younger version of that soldier, who he heard is a fine soldier, a great thinker.
"He... Died in my arms," Akashi mumbled, feeling compelled to tell the Kuroko parents this.
The couple glanced at each other, smiling a little. "I'm glad that Tetsuya found someone to love," Yuuki gently tried to comfort the red headed boy.
Akashi choked. "I didn't get the time to say that I loved him too."
Seitarou looked as if he wanted to cry out too. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Akashi. "Let it out, it is not good to keep it all in."
And Akashi cried. For the first time in years, he poured out his feelings and cried into the arms Seitarou offered him.
A group of ghosts glared at a dog as he shifted uneasily.
"Ogiwara," a voice boomed out. "You have failed us."
"I-I'm sorry!" Ogiwara, the dog, stuttered.
"Kuroko was supposed to return to us safely," Kuroko Junpei admonished. "As so, we decided that you are to get another mission"
"What is it?" Ogiwara seemed excited to get the chance to redeem himself.
"You will be reborned," Riko informed him. "You will follow Kuroko when he reincarnates, and you will protect him from afar."
Centuries later in the year 20XX...
"Congratulations, Kuroko-san! You have given birth to a healthy baby boy! What would you like to name him?" A nurse congratulated a woman with long teal locks.
The woman seemed to emit a glow as she fondly stared down at her newborn baby boy. "I'll name him Tetsuya, Kuroko Tetsuya."
And that's the chapter! Once again, thank you for you support to this fic and I'll forever appreciate it. Keep an eye out for the sequel, and I'll see you all soon. Ja~~
Yours
