A/N: Oh, wow, so I just read the recent reviews since I posted the chapter and I am not kidding, I started crying out of joy that people actually like my story so much It's insane and very hard for me, because I've never had anyone react that way to anything I have done and it is just so…. Amazing and heart lifting. A special thank you to Canagg, who has been there for my story since the beginning, and has reviewed on almost, if not every chapter. Another special thanks to GodWorshipsBlackStar who is has recently been PMing (Is that how it's said? PMing or PM-ing? Maybe just PM?) me about drawing a new cover for the Fic. This chick is insane in all the best ways Cx And vXxBlackRabbitxXv, I am so sorry that I made you look strange in a café D: but thank you for loving me and hating me at the same time Sorry to ramble, I should probably get back to the story.
DISCLAIMER: I OWN NOTHIIINNNNNNGGGGGGG! Unless stated otherwise.
SOULS POV
Marie arrived at the hospital shortly after I called her and explained my situation. She was at the nurses' station while I paced at the doors of the ICU, waiting for news, any news, of Maka and her condition. She'll be alright…. She has to be. I kept repeating that mantra over and over in my head as the seconds ticked by, slowly turning to minutes, minutes eventually turning to hours. Before it was too long, the front door opened and I glanced quickly at the figure. Then I turned my head completely and stared. A tall and thin teen walked in, his hair was black with white highlights, and madness was gleaming in his eyes. Asura.
"What are you doing here?" I spat the words out as though they had a bitter taste to them.
"The better question is what are you doing here, Soul? I thought I told you to back off." He glared at me, thee darkness and insanity in his eyes almost made me want to take a step back. Almost. Instead I took a step closer to him until our faces were inches apart.
"Well guess what, you don't get to tell me what to do." I said, calmly as I could.
"Soul, who is this and what are you doing" Marie stepped between us.
"He's nobody." I muttered under my breath.
"I'm Maka's brother." Asura announced proudly, puffing out his chest.
"Brother?" Marie asked, eyeing me suspiciously.
"Well, technically half-brother." Asura admitted.
"He is no brother of hers. He physically threatened her, and threatened to kill me if I ever got near her!" I was almost shouting and the nurse eyed us, giving a silent warning to lower our voices. Not wanting to be kicked out before I could get any news, I complied. "He hurt her, threatened her, and then ran away. He's been missing for two days." Marie turned to face Asura.
"Is this true?" She asked him, a single eyebrow tilted upwards. He nodded slightly, silently.
"Leave here then, or the authorities will be alerted." Marie said voice stony. If there was one thing Marie didn't tolerate, it was abuse and violence. She hated those who prayed on the weak. This is pretty ironic, considering her husband was an evil scientist.
"Soul Eater? Is there a Mr. Soul Eater present?" A soft voice called out. I turned and a female doctor stood in the door way of the ICU. She had dreadlocks and bandages covered her arms and neck.
"Here, I'm over here!" I yelled out. She started toward me and I met her halfway.
"Hi, you can call me Nygus." She put her hand out and I shook it. "I'm the surgeon who operated on your friend Maka." As I shook her hand, I noticed there was a tattoo of a knife on the inside of her left wrist. Must be quite the story behind that, I thought to myself.
"How is she?" I asked, letting go of her hand. "Did she- is she-?" I couldn't bring myself to ask. Nygus gave me a tired smile.
"The operation was a success. All she needs now is some rest and when she wakes up, we'll let you visit with her." I smiled with relief and couldn't help but pull Nygus into a hug.
"Thank you, thank you so, so much Nygus. I owe you so much."
"How about just paying the bill and keeping her out of trouble?" Nygus smiled, showing off her laugh lines.
"Deal." I said, laughing. I turned to tell Marie the news and noticed that Asura was gone. Good riddance, I thought to myself. "Marie! She's alive! She made it!" Marie smiled at me and waved. Then she turned back to the nurse. I walked to the chair closest to me and sat down in it, shutting my eyes. I can't believe it. She is okay. I slowly fell into a deep sleep, but the final thought I had bothered me. Where is Asura now?
ASURA'S POV
Damn Soul, he had to be there, he had to be "brave" and "heroic", like friggin Prince Charming with a leather jacket and an orange steed. Hehe, I guess that might actually make his hair the noble white horse. I laughed at the thought before getting back on track. I was walking around the hospital after the fight with Soul. If you could even call it a fight. It certainly would have been, if that honey haired bimbo hadn't stepped in. If he won't let me see her, I'm just going to have to find my own way to her. I smiled at that thought.
The plan was so perfect. Nobody suspected a thing. They were all convinced that I really am Maka's "brother". Hah, as if. It's almost pathetic how naïve they all were. A sneer formed on my face. Little did they all know that this was all part of Arachne's plan. It was kind of true. Spirit really had slept with her all those years ago, had lied to her, and had knocked her up. But when she found him and told him, he had beaten her until the baby died in the womb. So then, while in mourning, mother had gone to one of her most trusted friends, and her sister, Medusa, and begged her for revenge. Medusa had whispered in mothers ear, telling her a plan that was to be set into action, which required mother to get pregnant again. Which is how I was conceived. Now, 17 years later, that plan was finally put into action. I could already taste the revenge on my tongue, and oh how it tasted so sweet. I grinned darkly as I stopped at the window to Maka's room and watched her sleeping form. Soon….
A/N: DUN DUN DUUHHHHHNNN! What is this plot twist going on here?! Eh, probably nothing we didn't all see coming. Until next time guys!
