Whisper
Summary: Harry is an intelligent boy, he doesn't take the Wizarding World at face value. Learning more about this strange world before September 1st has left Harry giving an Oscar winning performance to keep the Headmaster happy. Too bad the Headmaster is blinded by his power, otherwise he would've known more about the last Potter heir...like the fact he has two older brothers. Ah, not to mention Sirius Black has him engaged already.

Chapter 21: Do What You Want

WuFei thumbed through the book that Zechs had sent to him in regards to the History of Magic class. It was a decent text, but a dry read. The Chinese male wasn't even sure why he had been dragged into the investigation. He supposed if he needed to help defeat one of the darkest wizards in Britain, then he could go undercover as a teacher.
It wasn't the best op he'd ever been assigned too.
The only upside is that he had a good portion of his team was with him. While Sally, Heero and Quatre would be left behind for now, the other half was just as efficient. WuFei wondered if Zechs had purposely left them behind in order to have support in minimizing the damage that could be caused by Death Eaters.
(And because Quatre needed to run his company, though he knew the blond could arrange for his sister to take over.)
He hadn't gotten around to telling them just yet as they had found themselves partnered up with Lupin to make basic lesson plans. Hilde had suggested it after Harry and Theo pointed out that the older man was the best Professor they had. Sally had sent him looks silently asking if he was going to join the other three, but a subtle shake of his head and she dropped it.
On July 31st, the tiny French Villa was empty. A limo had pulled up at the bottom of the Villa's hill at 7am and drove the group to the airport. Harry had been puzzled about the impromptu trip, but followed his brother's boyfriend. The blond was excited and it rolled off him in waves.
A few days prior, Remus had been forced on a short shopping expedition of his own after Harry declared that the werewolf needed new clothing.
It was apart of his Godfather's will after all.
Remus had tried to delay it by making up things that the group needed to be taught. Except none of them took the bait. Especially with it being so close to Harry's birthday.
Currently, Remus was rubbing sleep from his eyes as he tried to watch the scenery that passed by. "Why are we using muggle transportation?" The werewolf noticed Theodore nod in agreement as he read the book his lap.
"It's the safest way to move around since Death Eaters can't even work the equipment." Quatre replied as he turned to start serving tea. The back of his limo was massive and comfortably fit everyone [1].

"I know it's unusual to call a staff meeting a month before the school year starts…" The Headmaster of Hogwarts began his speech before looking at his assembled school staff. Unlike muggle schools, the curriculum rarely updated at the private school. It also meant summer break was literally a break. Very few teachers changed textbooks and always had them submitted before the end of June. "However, there were several changes to our staff and curriculum that have been confirmed by the Board."
The staff room of Hogwarts held it's 12 member teaching staff. Minerva sat the closest to the Headmaster. Her dark brown eyes roaming over the others. She knew about the changes and knew that there was little they could do once the board interfered. The witch wore a deep emerald cloak and her hair was pinned back into a tight bun.
Flitwick and Sprout were seated next to Sinatra and Snape. The three heads of Houses sent significant looks to the Deputy Headmistress.
Hagrid took up his own section of the room. He had declined a chair, opting to sit on the floor.
Babbage, Teleweny, Frieze and Victor were gathered to the left. The Centaur was currently being patient with the wizards around him, but it was fairly obvious that he found the meeting dull.
Albus smiled at them, "As you all remember last year…it was quite the fiasco." He paused as several heads nodded and more than one appreciative look was sent to the centaur. "This year, I don't expect anything quite as…dramatic to happen."
"You said the Board provided staff changes?" Severus asked silkily. He wasn't a fool, they were itching to remove him.
Peering over his half moon shaped spectacles, "That's correct Severus. However, I first need to bring this young man back into our fold - Horace Slughorn." The greying blond crept into the door, glancing around. Horace smiled as he took care to shake a few hands before finding himself on the other side of Albus. "He will be taking over as our Potions Professor this year."
"And what of me?" The Head of Slytherin glanced at his old teacher. He remembered how the older man had come to adore Lily as his own.
"You'll be taking over Defense Against the Dark Arts." Flitwick and McGonagall exchanged looks, they suspected as much when both had heard Horace in the kitchens earlier in the day. The old wizard smiled at the dark haired Head of Slytherin. "As Horace hasn't signed an agreement for more than the one school year, you will also remain Head of Slytherin."
Albus shifted his attention to his staff. "We will also have four new hires joining us. In about two weeks, our new Muggle Studies teacher, Ms. Hilde Scheibker will be temporarily replacing Professor Babbage for the school year." A few eyes landed on the dark haired woman.
Professor Babbage smiled at her colleagues. "I'm being granted my leave to venture into the muggle world. I've had so many muggle borns tell me that the class is out of date and now I'm excited to see what I'm missing!" Severally of them smiled at the woman's enthusiasm. "My replacement, is coming recommended by the Prince himself!"
That drew several gasps of shock. "The Prince?"
"The Peacecraft Family-"
"More government interference?"
Albus raised a hand to slow down the voices. "Silence!" The room fell silent. "Prince Millardo is indeed making a rare appearance in the Wizarding World. Despite the confirmation of Voldemort's return, he has stated that his concern is the education of our students." Minerva exchanged a look with Severus, neither believed that line. "As we have no reason to doubt his intentions we should, for now, go along with it. Once he made the suggestions for staffing and curriculum, his attention shifted to the Ministry and the current laws."
"One will be taking over Bertha's classes, what of the other three?" The tiny half goblin asked.
The room fell into silence for a moment. "Prince Millardo has asked that we replace Professor Binns." Everyone looked around, for a while they had all advocated that, the ghost's class was nothing more than nap time for most students. The fact the ghost seemed to focus only on goblin wars also caused a dramatic drop in history students after OWL level.
A few of the professors had thought to approach Dumbledore with a suggestion of a new, living teacher, Bethilda Bagshot. She was the author of the current history of magic text book. "He will be replaced by a young man named WuFei Chang. He is a distant relative of our own Miss Chang." Albus didn't mention that he was a squib. To teach history, the young man wouldn't need magic and Prince Millardo would hear no words against his selection. The Headmaster supposed his colleagues would find out on their own or the younger male would entrust them with the information.
"That's two new hires. Who are the other two?" Professor Sprout asked. The Herbology teacher had a few plants she wanted to tend to as soon as possible.
Albus smiled, so far there had been no serious objections. "Our third new hire will be joining Hagrid in teaching Care of Magical Creatures." The half giant looked surprised and a little upset. "I couldn't fight the Prince too much on this decision Hagrid. However, I was able to stop your complete removal that the Board had asked. Mr. Trowa Barton will be joining you and creating the core curriculum taught in the class."
"But why? Didn't I do a good enough job?"
Severus snorted, "Biting books that every student taped or tied shut, you oaf."
Hagrid turned red, but glared at the greasy Potion Master.
"There was the Hippogriff incident with Mr. Malfoy as well." Madam Pomfrey gently reminded him. "As well as all the burns i treated from the Blast Ended Skwarts."
Minerva cleared her throat bringing attention to herself. "There's also the fact that you have not even passed your OWLs for the class." Albus frowned at his Deputy Headmistress, she however returned his stare with a stern thin lipped frown. "The fact that you have the position is because no one else applied and Headmaster Dumbledore thought it was a good idea. Having a second, more qualified teacher to work with is a great idea. As kind and amazing as you are Hagrid, your sense of danger is different from a normal human."
Clearing his throat before any one else could speak to the half giant, "Be that as it may, Hagrid would never intentionally bring harm to any of our students." The half giant nodded, his face was distressed at his colleagues words. The Headmaster smiled at his former student. "With Mr. Barton helping teach the class, you will have time to get a new wand and study for your OWLs and NEWTs."
The half-giant gave a strained watery smile. At least Dumbledore was being kind and accepting the help so that he could become a better teacher.
A few Professors exchanged looks, they really knew why Hagrid had kept the job.
Once attention was back on him, Albus smiled. "Our final new hire, Mister Duo Maxwell will be teaching our Introduction to Magical Technology course. It is a mandatory course and even our six and seventh year students will be enrolled in the course."
Whispers broke out at that, "Magical Technology?"
"Currently, Prince Millardo has decided the ban on experimenting with muggle technology is too strict-"
"It's for their protection!"
Albus' blue eyes seemed to twinkle. "Other countries around the world have managed to add muggle technology into their everyday lives. In the United States use of mobile phones and computers are common in their magical schools."
"Our Pureblood board members could not have been excited about this class."
"They weren't. Currently, a tower of some sort is in the works to be built. Upon its completion our school will be able to access the internet as well as receive mobile reception." The old Headmaster wasn't surprised to see the looks of confusion his staff's face. Only Severus and Babbage had any theoretical knowledge of what was being introduced to the school. "For this new class, one of our unused class rooms will be turned into a lab. The Prince will be arriving with several men to set up the new equipment in a weeks time."
Severus Snape knew he would be footing several calls from his students parents. "He cannot believe that a week is long enough to remove a law that has been in place for several decades."
"He has already presented a motion to revise the law's current wording. Using his influence, the law is already being stayed by the Courts."
Professor Flitwick clapped his hands. "This school year will definitely be more interesting. The mandatory class, while we be able to join them if we wish?" Several of the teachers nodded. Majority of the Hogwarts teaching staff were purebloods with the exception of Hagrid, Frieze and little half-Goblin Flitwick.
"If you have a free period you wish to spend learning about magical technology, you will have to ask Mr. Maxwell if you can sit in on his lessons. However, I do not see why he would deny such requests." Albus replied.
The tiny Professor nodded, "and the new textbooks for those classes are already picked out?"
"You will find that Madam Price has the new books in our wonderful library available for checking out. There were several more books donated as extra reference material from several international authors."
The Head of Ravenclaw let out a tiny squeal of excitement. It had been far too long since the library housed new books he hadn't read. While he could order more books, he tended to look at more Charms and Dueling topics than anything else. With this new class, the first in almost two decades, it sounded like the most useful for Purebloods. Especially with the way that Muggle Studies had been ignored by the most conservative of the Pureblood children.
Professor Sprout chuckled at her colleague's enthusiasm. No doubt he was like his Ravens, enthusiastic to learn more. This new class didn't interest her. However, she supported expanding Hogwarts' curriculum to give the current generations a chance to explore things older generations had shunned. The last class to be added had been Divination, which quite frankly was a joke to the students.
She thought that a person either had the gift of sight or not.

September 1st was rolling around slower than Theodore had imagined. The Slytherin had spent a few more days in that enchanted basement before Remus had decided that neither Harry nor Theo could age anymore than they already had done. The reasoning was to not cast any kind of suspicion onto the unlikely friends.
Which had left Theo and Harry relatively to their own devices. Excluding the times when WuFei and Sally were around. Of course, Harry was a board member of a company and as such had a few work related duties to fulfill. The Boy Who Lived also had taken the time to reach out to Leila, Luna and Hermione.
Hermione had responded quickly over the summer, usually within a day and with details of her muggle schooling. The bushy haired witch was enjoying her summer learning. She occasionally mentioned the Weasleys as writing to her, but it typically was a line or two.
Luna responded irregularly, but from her responses it was obvious she was working rather closely with Leila. Harry even suspected the blond might be involved directly with Horcruxes.
Leila responded the least and her emails were short. Her last email had been the longest one. It told the pair that Luna had found a Horcrux. That the little blond had sent it to her and Leila had used a few drops of basilisk poison to destroy it. In great detail, she told them about how the ring had tried to lure her into putting it on. How before she destroyed it, it had taken on the shape of someone close to her. And how Luna had been the one to actually drip the basilisk poison onto the ring. After that Leila admitted her return to London was taking place in two weeks via airplane. That the melted ring had been tucked into her luggage.
Theodore had taken Harry's phone and tried calling her. Once, everyday for a week since her supposed return to London. Every time the calls went straight to voicemail. It might have been over six years since he had seen or heard from her, but he had not forgotten about Zabini. Part of himself was genuinely concerned that she was being held captive by Blaise.
Harry shared his concern, despite the Boy-Who-Lived reasoning that Leila's phone was off because she was on punishment. The witch would have at least emailed them to let them know what was going on. Especially since her father was never around enough to stop her from using a computer.
The other half thought that, and it sounded silly, that Leila had found an American bloke. One that could spend time with her, hold her hand and buy her muggle snacks without looking confused. Theo had tried to breach the topic once with Harry, but the green eyed male was hearing none of it.
Theo was certain that Harry was bias because he knew that there was a ring sitting in Theo's trunk for Leila.
"You know Theo, you could practice typing some more. Maybe send Lei an email or something." Harry suggested as he laid on the floor with a book propped open. He was taking notes as he read through some old ritual books that had been tucked away in the crevices of the library. "Much better than glaring at the portrait of my great-great grandfather." The portrait huffed returning the glare from Theodore. In the frame was a messy grey haired man with dark brown eyes.
Draco had been unable to provide any insight to the potential situation. Blaise had not visited the pale blond in a few weeks. Which wasn't out of the normal. The Italian had a plan to draw him out. Draco only knew that somehow the Ravenclaw would be involved.
There was still a few days before school started, but Theodore couldn't wait to be on that scarlet train heading back to the castle. He had the sinking suspicion he'd be murdering Zabini before the school year started.
