"Castiel don't you think it's rude to be rifling though someones elses belongings? Especially when they are absent," Gauis snapped as he walked through the door with the brothers following behind.

"No." Cas looked at Gauis, confused at the notion that what he was doing was wrong but dismissed it as soon as he saw the Winchesters. "Sam! Dean!"

"Cas!" Dean rushed over to his friend and pulled him into a tight embrace. Castiel, still uncomfortable with the prospect of hugging, stood like a statue with arms by his side until it was over. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I could ask you two the same question, even though I don't need to. Crowley delighted in telling me when he had sent you," Castiel's voice wasn't happy.

"Cas, look we couldn't wait any longer," Sam said adamently. "We needed solutions and Crowley offered us one."

"Um...sorry did you just say when?" The three were so wrapped up in their argument that they hadn't noticed Merlin walk in.

"Did he?" Dean said looking at Sam for back up.

"Yes, he definitely said when," Merlin replied defiantly.

"I didn't hear when, I heard wh..." Sam tried to say but Castiel interupted.

"Sam, Dean we don't have time for this," Castiel commanded whilst walking over to Merlin and putting two fingers in the middle of his forehead, but nothing happened. "What..."

Merlin looked up to the man's fingers in the middle of his forehead "Do you mind? Gauis, what is this man doing to my head?"

"Why isn't it working? This has never happened to me before," Castiel said in disbelief.

"What isn't working?" Melin asked.

"I am trying to render you unconcious, my powers are so great that a mere touch usually puts mortals into a deep sleep that they cannot be woken from naturally, see..." Castiel walked over to Dean who couldn't move fast enough. Castiel touched his head and he was instantly asleep. Merlin moved closer to the door as if to plan an escape route.

"Cas!" Sam snapped. Castiel sighed and touched Dean's forehead once more and he woke up.

"Cas, do that again and I swear to god I will beat your junkless ass!" Dean's voice was serious.

Castiel, ignoring Dean's threats, walked back over to Merlin and proceeded to place different fingers on this head and around his face.

"I don't know where you come from Cas, but here in Camelot it's not very polite to poke people in their faces." Castiel stepped back looking dumbfounded.

"Merlin isn't a mear mortal. He is a sorcerer and one that your powers couldn't even comprehend." Castiel scoffed at his old aquaintance "You can laugh all you want, but you couldn't put him to sleep."

"Now my face has stopped being molested, Sam has miraculously sobered up and Dean's awake; could someone please tell me WHAT IS GOING ON!" Merlin shouted.

"Okay, Merl, calm down. We'll talk but you need to be open minded and not irrationally angry." Dean signalled for everyone to sit down.

"I can't promise anything," the young warlock warned as he took a seat.

"Right, it all started many many years from now, in a place called Lawerence, Kansas..." Dean began.

They talked well into the night as Dean and Sam, with a little help from Castiel told them all about their lives to date. Merlin and and Gaius listened intently to a world that they couldn't begin to imagine, yet at times it seemed all to familiar to them.

"So you need a spell to save the future/present world from ending, and you think Morgana can help?" Merlin enquired.

"That was the impression that Crowley..." Sam started.

"A demon..." Merlin clarified.

"Gave us," Sam continued.

"That you trusted, without consulting me," Cas said petulently.

"Yeah, because you have always been honest with us," Dean sniped back.

"That is not of..."

"Import, yeah we know!" Sam and Dean said in unison.

"But what is of import is that I came here to stop you, as Morgana will kill you and Crowley knows that, and with Sam dead Lucifer has no host, so the apocalypse won't happen," Cas stated.

"That son of a bitch," Dean said as he realised that what Cas was saying made sense.

"What are you going to do now?" Merlin asked

Dean looked at Sam, who nodded. "We're here already, so we might as well pay her a visit and if she can't help us, we'll kill her and help you."

"I suspect it won't be as easy as you think, isn't that right Castiel?" Gauis said nonchalantly.

"We'll its the Winchester way to fight ridiculous odds," Dean said proudly.

"Hang on a minute, we never mentioned Cas' full name. Gauis. I think it's your turn to talk," Sam said as Cas shiffted uncomfortably next to them.

"Merlin," Gaius said "You should be going to sleep, Arthur is going to be expecting you in a few short hours and with the feast last night you are going to be kept extremely busy."

"But I want to.."

"No buts...off to bed!" Gaius' tone was fatherly but stern. Merlin admitted defeat, said goodnight and skulked off to bed.

Castiel, Dean and Sam were looking at Gaius, waiting for an explanation of his dismissal of the young warlock.

"Merlin and Morgana were very close. He doesn't need to know what you did." Gauis tried to keep his voice quiet but Merlin had his ear pressed against the door.

"Cas what the hell have you done?" Dean asked as the Angel took a deep breath and rose to his feet.

"Ever since the beginning of time angels have always known that there would be an apocalypse, a great war between heaven and hell to purge the world of evil. We knew that Lucifer would do anything he could to win and would marshal anyone with great evil and power to his side. We were ordered to try and eliminate anyone he could use as a weapon. After hearing a prophecy of a witch of great and terrible evil, I was ordered to try and eliminate her by preventing her from ever being born. I was told by Metatron, the scribe of God, that I could find the girl's parents in the court of Camelot, England in the year of 1236. I came here and acted out my orders, killing the man I believed would be the witch's father, Sir Gorlois. But, I have learnt tonight that my information was wrong. The girls father was King Uther."

"Why didn't you kill the mother?" Sam asked.

"She wasn't here." Gaius said. "She was away on a diplomatic mission with Uther."

"She was out of my reach and I thought my mission completed, I was wrong". Cas interjected "By the time she returned, she was already with child and I was too late."

"Morgana has always blamed Uther for the death of her father and mother. Which is why she bears such hatred for him, a hatred that has been twisted by her half-sister Morgause." Gaius added.

"Let me get this straight. Cas you killed that man for nothing?" Dean said shocked.

"I didn't know. I believed I was doing the right thing," Cas defended himself.

"That seems to be a recurring theme for you guys," Sam remarked snidely.

Merlin, listening at the door, could barely contain his anger. The objects in his room started to levitate and spin.

"Well, now we are here we might as well rectify your mistake. Gaius, will you help us?" Dean asked.

"What do you plan to do?" Gaius asked.

"Well we have no choice, we have to find that evil bitch and kill her," Dean said matter-of-factly.

Merlin could hold it back no longer and burst out of his room. "Stop talking about her as if she is not a person!" He yelled. "I know you all think she is some terrible evil, but Gaius was right, she was my friend once. And if there is a chance we could save, then I'll take it!"

Gaius looked horrified as the contents of his chambers began to rise around them.

"We can't do it alone though." Merlin stated.

"What have you got in mind Merl?" Dean asked ducking as a jar flew dangerously close to his head.

"We need to get her away from Morgause, but she's a great fighter. We've got no choice, we need Arthur," Merlin said decisively.

"First, though, I need you to put my chambers back together," Gaius said pointedly as everything fell to the floor with an ear-shattering crash.
