Zero and I walk into our room and shut the door. "Come here," Zero says as he walks towards the sink and turns it on. He grabs a washcloth and puts it under the water.

"Zero," I say, "are you okay?"

Zero ignores me and proceeds to wash his blood off my face. Then he washes the blood from the wound I inflicted on him.

"I'm sorry," I say.

Zero looks at me with a dull expression. "Why? I told you to. If anyone should say they are sorry, it is me."

I shake my head. "Let's just forget all this." I take a deep breath and look at Zero's wound. "I… I never wanted to end up like this, Zero. To have to rely on blood; it was never supposed to happen."

"Listen, you will be alright," Zero says. "I don't know why you are so worked up."

I begin to glare at him. "Zero, I can recall a smartass not too long ago who was ashamed of becoming a vampire," I growl at him.

Zero turns away from me. "I've changed."

"Well I haven't and I don't plan to," I say as I walk to the bed and plop myself down on it. I continue to glare at Zero as he washes the blood from his neck. But as soon as I see his shirt come off, I lie back and look at the ceiling.

"What, you still can't look?" I hear Zero ask me.

"I don't think it's right for me to look," I mumble.

I hear a low laugh and footsteps walking towards me. "Rose, I don't get you one bit."

I roll my eyes. "Whatever."

Suddenly, a hand slams down next to my head. "Rose, just stop this bullshit!" Zero yells at me.

I push his hand away and sit up. "What the hell, Zero?" I ask him.

Zero glares at me with red eyes. "Just stop playing your stupid act. I've tried to be nice and calm and to make sure that you know you are not alone in this, but your constant bitching about everything is getting old!"

Instead of staring in to his eyes, I look away. "You don't get it," I say.

"I don't get it? I am the only one who does," Zero says, grabbing my head and forcing me to look at him. "But I can't handle you giving up on life because you became a vampire. You still have a sister to take care of and an enemy we both have to kill."

I sigh. "Whatever, Zero. I don't feel good, so just shut the hell up," I whine.

"Fine," Zero says. He lets me go and walks away. "I'm going to town," Zero says and leaves me alone.

I lie back down on the bed. "Why is this happening to me? Why?" I ask myself.

Knock knock.

I sit up again. Who the hell is at the door? I think. I get up and walk to the door and open it.

"Rose," Kaien says. "Are you alright?"

My lip begins to quiver at the sight of Kaien and I burst in to tears. "Kaien…" I cry.

"Shush. It's alright," Kaien says. He walks to me and wraps his arms around me, pulling me in to a hug. "I know what happened. I'll be here to help you through all of these sudden changes."

I look up at him. "How did you-" I try to ask, but am cut off.

"This is my school after all. You should have at least expected me to find out," Kaien says sweetly. "Come with me to my office. I…." He looks down at me with sad eyes. "I need to talk to you."

I wipe the tears off my face. "About what?"

"Just come with me," he says as we leave for his office.

When we walk in, I see Toga looking out the window with his gun in his hand. As Kaien shuts the door, Toga looks at me. Kaien pushes on my back towards the seat in front of his desk and I sit down.

"Rose," Kaien says softly, "we need to talk. The three of us….." He looks at Toga. Toga shakes his head and Kaien looks back at me. "Just the three of us."

"About what?" I ask.

Toga steps away from the window and props himself up on the desk. "About you drinking Zero's blood."

My body becomes cold as ice. "Wh-what about it?"

"Nothing bad," Kaien says. "We just aren't really sure how much this will change you."

I look at the ground. "I d-didn't mean to, Kaien. I… I just….." Tears start to form in my eyes.

I hear Toga sigh. "Rose, stop crying."

I look up at him. "Why do you care? I thought you wanted me dead?" I ask.

"I care because I know who your father is," Toga says. "And your mother."

I feel a hand on my shoulder. "It's okay for him to know, Rose. He trusted your father," Kaien says.

"But I thought he hated vampires?" I look at Kaien then to Toga.

"I do hate vampires," Toga says. "But that was after Shizuka killed your father. That's where my hatred for vampires comes from."

"So…" I try to clear my head. "You knew my father?"

"Yes, stupid," he replies.

"Toga," Kaien says, "she is not stupid. She is just confused."

I shake my head. "But how is this helping me any?"

"I just wanted you to know that you can trust him and he will protect you, Rose," Kaien says.

"But what is going to happen to me now?" I ask. "What's going to happen now that I've tasted Zero's blood!?"

Everyone becomes silent. For a moment at least.

"We will teach you to ignore your hunger like your father did," Kaien says. "He overcame it, and so will you."

I hold my head in my hands. "How?" I ask.

"Well…" Kaien looks at Toga. "Toga knows how."

My eyes widen as I look at the ground. Great, the guy who wanted me dead earlier is going to teach me. This can't end well.

I hear footsteps walking towards me and I look up to see Toga standing in front of me. "We will start training tomorrow, Rose. Be outside at dawn."

"Dawn?!" I shout. "What kind of training is this?"

Toga ignores me and walks to the door and leaves. I glare at Kaien.

"Hey, this isn't my choice," Kaien says hurriedly. "He is in charge of the training, not me. Besides, you need to wake up early so you won't want to sleep all day."

I sigh. "Fine, whatever." I get up and walk to the window. "Do you know where Zero is?" I ask.

"No, I haven't seen him. Why? Did something happen?" Kaien asks me.

"Well…. We kind of got into….." I bite my lip.

"An argument?" Kaien walks over to me. "Its okay to have arguments in a relationship."

I shake my head. "But I know I hurt his feelings… I just…" I take a deep breath and look at Kaien. "I just didn't want him to think I was weak, but in the end it made him angry."

Kaien puts his hand on my shoulder. "Then lets go find him," he says calmly.

"No, I can't look at him right now." As I turn away from him, I look at his desk and see a letter with Sky's and my name on it. "What's that?" I ask as I point to it.

"Go find Zero and I'll find you later," Kaien says as he looks outside.

Knowing that he is probably lost in his little world, I walk out of his office and shut his door slowly. Instead of walking outside to look for Zero, I walk around the school to clear my head.

"This is not what I came here for," I mumble to myself as I walk down the hall. As I walk, I look into one of the empty classrooms. It was the room where I had my first class. I smile softly and walk in and look around.

"Princess, it is so good to see you."

My eyes widen as I turn to look at the man who spoke. "Phoenix?!" I freeze as I stare into is cold, red eyes.

"Hello," Phoenix says as he bows. "It is wonderful to see you again, Princess."

I grit my teeth. "I am not your princess!" I shout at him.

Phoenix smiles. "But you are." He walks towards me and I take a step back. "Please don't be afraid, I won't hurt you."

"Get out of here and leave me alone!" I back up further but I trip on the teachers desk which causes me to fall on top of it.

"There, you seem comfortable," he says as he steps in front of me, making it impossible for me to escape.

"What do you want?" I ask.

Phoenix smiles. "Just to talk. I won't hurt you, I promise." He puts his hand over his heart and bows.

I sigh and look outside, hoping Zero, Yuki, or Sky will come to my rescue, but I suppose, until then, I will have to play Phoenix's little game.

"Fine, ill talk but that is it," I say.

Phoenix smiles wider, showing his fangs. "Thank you~"
