Chapter 21 (Uriah's POV)
Okay, anytime now... Anytime...
I was going to go crazy from nervousness. I knew it was irrational; I was Uriah Petrad, there was nothing to be nervous about! Oh, but there is! a traitorous part of my mind argued. And I knew that part was right. What if she said no? What would I do? I was pacing the living room again, and my idiot of a brother, Zeke, said, "Oh stop, Uriah. It's gonna go by just fine. Just take a deep breath and remember that there's nothing to be nervous about!" It's not often that Zeke gives me advice without making fun of me, so I take it that he's serious about the whole "it's going to be all right" thing.
The doorbell rings, and Tobias, Tris, Christina, and Will arrive. They all glanced around the room, with Zeke sitting on the couch, head in his hands, me pacing back and forth, and the lack of drunk people.
"So this isn't a party?" Christina asks, confused. I saw Will rolling her eyes, and muttering, "I told you to dress casual!"
"You guys can just sit down somewhere. Uriah's going to die from nervousness," Zeke says.
The doorbell rings again, and Shauna comes in with her key, dragging Lynn behind her.
"What's the big issue, Zeke?" Shauna asks, before plopping down on an armchair across from the couch that Zeke's currently sitting on. I must look like an idiot, pacing back and forth while everyone's sitting down, staring at me, silently asking what's going on.
"What time is it?" I ask after a few minutes, and Tris glances at her wristwatch before saying, "Nine o' nine. Tell us what's going on, Uriah!"
I widen my eyes, and pace even faster. Marlene would arrive in a minute, and-and-if-
The doorbell rings again, its clear sound slicing through the silence. I walk over to it and compose myself, taking a nervous breath, before opening the door.
"Hey, Uri. What's happening? What's so urgent?" She asks before walking in and saying "Hey" to everyone in the room and sitting down.
I walk over to the middle of the room, and the speech I prepared completely leaves my mind. "Uh... So, um..." Way to go, Uriah! I inwardly groan at my failure, and the muffled laughs from Zeke doesn't help anything. "So you're all here because you're my best friends and everything. Except for Shauna, who's only here because she's Zeke's girlfriend. And Marlene, who's here because she's my girlfriend." She laughs, and the speech suddenly comes back. "OH! Right!"I slide down onto one knee and bring out the black velvet box. "So... Marlene, I've known you since we were toddlers, and we've been dating for a while now. My reality is finally better than dreams, and that's because you're in my life and making all of my dreams come true, with your bright eyes and amazing smile. Yea, yea, that sounds cheesy, but it's true. Your laughter is contagious, your dedication to making everyone happy is mesmerizing, and your sense of adventure is amazing. And I know that no matter what, I'll always be by your side, and I will always love you. We both dream of being together, so why not make it become reality? These are just some reasons why I want to spent the rest of my life with you, so will you marry me?"
There are tears shining in her eyes, and she's smiling, and I see her and only her as she says that one word. "Yes!" I kiss her, the feel of her lips on mine sending electricity through my very being. Nothing else matters, except her.
Zeke says, "Oh, get a room, you guys!"
Marlene and I break apart, both of us gasping for air. I'm deliriously ecstatic. She said yes! YES!
A/N: This is really short so I'm posting another chapter later on today or tomorrow, which will be longer. This is just a little Marlene/Uriah, because I ship them :) Be ready for another chapter later on or tomorrow, in which the second day of fighting/matches will commence.
CJ potter rider jackson: Yes, that's what makes Fourtris so amazing and inseparable, no? :3
madisonbookaddict14: I always respond :) Why ask for reviews and thoughts from a reader if I won't answer? :P To answer your question, there will be 10 spots for new members, because that's how it is in the book, and I really want to kick some of my less-appreciated initiates out XD Yes I fangirled over Magnus Chase series too! :) CHASE GAHHHHH I really wish he could publish small novellas about what happens after BoO though, like with Caleo and their adventures, how (if) they meet with the other demigods again, and what happens with Percabeth :P My OTP!
Artofskating: Thank you! It seems fitting, since they care so much for each other, and Hestia was a (blank) and they don't want to be separated again.
Booklover4610: A sixth sense XD Thank you! You're the only reviewer to have stuck with every chapter from the beginning, so I'll say thanks again :P :) No, I should be thanking you for reading this story!
Hooda: Thank you! I'm going to update later on today, or tomorrow, maybe, so keep that in mind :P :)
