21: Alton Towers

"Alton Towers!" Eddie exclaimed gleefully to the rest of Anubis house as he stood in front of them all.

"What?" Jerome asked, slightly confused.

"My dad said we can go on a house trip this weekend to Alton Towers!" Eddie said, still half shouting.

"Eddie shut up! The people on Mars could probably hear you right now!" Patricia screamed, getting annoyed as Eddie was making her headache worse by the second.

"Sorry Yacker" Eddie told her as he went and sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around the redheads shoulders. She leant her head on his shoulder, ignoring the gagging noises Alfie and Jerome were making. The rest of Anubis house were excitedly talking about what rides they wanted to go on and in what order. Mara and Amber even making a list so they wouldn't forget.

When Saturday finally came, the Anubis house residents all loaded up into the minibus, Jerome and Alfie running to the back before anyone else could. It was a 2 hour trip, which meant the students had to be ready to leave at eight which made most of them extremely unhappy, especially Patricia and Eddie who had stayed up until the early hours of the morning, watching movies. Patricia tried to get comfy, which was very hard to do considering how squished it was. Eventually, she gave up and decided to turn her iPod on and listen to her music, trying to drown out the awful sound of Alfie singing 'the wheels on the bus'. The rest of the journey was spent in silence from Patricia and Eddie, both who had fallen asleep after only a few minutes, the hum of the engine putting them both to sleep.

"Eddie, wake up!" Fabian said cheerfully when everyone was getting off the minibus "you can get your girlfriend up, I'm not even gonna try" he said with a chuckle as he stepped down. Eddie looked around, confused for a second until he realised where they were. He look down and saw Patricia had fallen asleep against his chest, her legs wrapped up in his. He shook her gently and she started to move.

"Yacker?"

"What?" She asked, confused just like Eddie was a few minutes earlier.

"We're here" Eddie told her.

"Really?!" Patricia screamed as she shot up and scrambled over Eddie to get off the minibus and catch up with the others. Eddie chuckled and followed after his girlfriend who looked like an excited puppy. When he finally caught up to all of the others, he grabbed hold of Patricia's hand and they walked together to the entrance, all of them following Trudy and Mr Sweet.

"Right. You can all go off to wherever you want as long as you are back in 2 hours in time for lunch and then you can go off again." Mr Sweet said. Patricia and Eddie were the first two to leave the group and head towards Oblivion. The queue was already really long but they didn't care and they joined the back of it anyway. They moved slowly along, Eddie pulling faces and telling jokes to pass the time, even though both of them were still half asleep.

When they were finally at the front of the queue they were both really excited and couldn't wait to sit at the very front.

"Are you ready Yacked?" Eddie asked as they started to go up the steep incline.

"Of course I am" Patricia replied. Then before Eddie could reply, they were at the top of the slope and riding around the top bit. They were getting closer and closer to the big drop at the end and both of their hearts were beating fast with anticipation. Eddie put his hands up ready whilst Patricia watched him, loving the expressions on his face as they got closer. They were just about to drop over the edge when the ride stopped.

"What's happening?" Patricia asked Eddie, utterly confused and a tiny bit scared.

"I'm not sure" he replied. The other people of the ride were having the same confusion as they were.

"Eddie I don't like it" Patricia told her boyfriend, deciding to be honest instead of her usual badass self. There was no point in trying to lie to him, he'd realise anyway.

"Don't worry Yacker" Eddie said. He moved as close to her as he could and held her hand. She closed her eyes and waited for the ride to begin again. The pair of them didn't really say a lot more, Eddie just occasionally stroked her hair and whispered sweet things to her to calm her down. Patricia on the other hand was freaking out. She had never liked roller coasters when she was younger because she was scared of this very thing happening. Luckily Eddie didn't mind that she was scared and he didn't make fun of her either like he normally would. After around 10 minutes of being stuck on the ride, it suddenly moved again and they went straight down, below the ground to the end of the ride. Patricia screamed and Eddie held her tighter. Patricia thought that he heart was going to beat right out of her chest. They both stood up and walked into the little shop at the end of the ride. Eddie still had hold of Patricia's hand and it looked like she wasn't going to let go any time soon.

"What do you wanna do now?" Eddie asked as they started to aimlessly walk around.

"Anywhere that doesn't involve roller coasters" Patricia answered.

"That's kinda had to do considering we're in the middle of a theme park" Eddie joked, earning him a slap on the arm from his girlfriend. "We could just go back to my dad and Trudy?" He suggested and she nodded, still scared from what had happened on the roller coaster not even 10 minutes before. They started to walk back towards the cafe at the entrance. Eddie tried to start some conversations with his girlfriend but she wasn't answering him. She was starting to worry him a bit but he knew she would be fine. Meehan they got back to the cafe they saw Mr Sweet and Trudy so they went and sat with them.

"You're a bit early aren't you? I thought you two would be the last ones back" Mr Sweet joked but then he saw the look on Patricia's face. "Are you okay?" He asked her. She nodded but didn't answer. Eddie explained what had happened quietly so Patricia wouldn't have to hear them. Both of the adults understood and went back to their conversation. Eddie looked at Patricia and saw she was just staring into space. He nudged her shoulder with his and she looked over.

"Do you want some ice cream?" He asked.

"No thanks. I feel a bit sick" she replied. He nodded but still looked concerned. He hoped she was okay. Just then he heard two voices that he would know anywhere. Alfie and Jerome. He looked up and saw the rest of Anubis house coming towards them laughing at something Alfie had said. When they got over to the two of them they sat down and started to decide what they wanted to eat.

"I'll order" Eddie said. He took everyone's order and stood up and went to the till. He ordered everyone's food and some food for himself. He also got a bottle of water for Patricia before he paid and went and sat down, bringing the big tray of food with him. He placed the tray informs of them all and left them to find their own whilst he sat back swim in his chair with a plate of chips. He pushed the bowl towards Patricia but she just shook her head again. He placed the bottle of water in front of her and she smiled slightly before she took a big gulp of it. She offered him the bottle and he took a quick swig before placing it down on the table again. The rest of the house were talking quietly to each other until Amber spoke up.

"What's wrong Patricia?" She asked. Everyone else started to ask similar questions.

"It's none of your business" Patricia replied, sounding slightly annoyed at the onslaught of questions she was receiving. Eddie chuckled and took her hand again and then began to devour his chips with the other one. It didn't take him long to eat them all and everyone else also ate quite fast too.

"What ride does everyone want to go on now?" Mara asked everyone.

"Air" Joy said.

"No I wanna go on Nemesis" Jerome complained like a 5 year old.

"Fine" Joy said, giving up, knowing it was easier to not argue with him. He smiled and stood up.

"Do you wanna stay here?" Eddie asked his girlfriend.

"Yeah. You don't mind do you?" She asked him, worried she had ruined his day.

"Of course I don't. I wouldn't have any fun without you anyway" he told her. She smiled and lay her arms on the table, still tired from earlier.

"You guys coming?" Nina asked.

"No thanks. We're just gonna stay her for a bit" he said. He looked down at Patricia and smiled. She looked cute when she was half asleep. She sat up again and looked around for a minute.

"Do you feel any better?"

"Yeah a bit thanks" she told him. He was still kind of worried about her but he knew that she would be fine.

The rest of the day, the two of them stayed in the cafe and messed around, throwing plastic spoons to each other and also at Mr Sweet without him dealing until one hit him on the top of his head. When it got to 4 o'clock they decided to go home so they rang Fabian and told him and the others to come back. Once they got back they all walked out of the exit and towards the minibus. When they got on the bus, Eddie and Patricia sat in the same seats as before and Eddie wrapped his arm around his redheaded girlfriend. She put her legs across his lap to get comfy and closed her eyes. She was asleep before they even left the car park, but not before shouting at Alfie to shut up as he started to sing again. Meddle was glad that they had gone today, even if it had been a disaster for the two of them, because it had helped Patricia bring down her forcefield down a little bit more.
