Chapter Twenty One: Tricked from inside

POV: Magnus

I stepped through the portal and instantly felt the heat of the burning flames nearby surround me.

"Why if it's not my son" Sneered my father "What are you doing here Magnus and don't pretend like you're here for a visit because we both know you hate me"

"I never hated you father" I said stepping towards him, he just looked at me warily "I should have been with you all along"

"Really?" My father smiled reveling his sharp teeth but he still looked at me a bit warily "What made you change your mind?"

"The stupid shadowhunters were just being annoying and whiney telling me that I can't do magic right" I said angrily "So I want to become more stronger and prove to them that I'm not just their pet warlock and I'd be delighted if you would help me learn"

"Of course son" Asmodeus pulled me into a hug and started leading me inside "But first let's celebrate"

"Yes" I smiled "By the way we don't have to worry about the shadowhunters anytime soon"

"Did you finally teach them a lesson?" Father asked turning to me, I gave an evil smile.

"Yes" I answered "Their alive but they wish they weren't" Father laughed and we walked into his castle together.

POV: Alec

I heard footsteps coming towards the library where I spent most of my time and looked up just as Asmodeus and Magnus walked through the door chatting happily.

"Magnus?" I asked jumping up out of my chair, dropping my book in the process "What on earth are you doing here?"

"I'm here so that my father can teach me to be a better and more powerful warlock" Magnus told me then turning to Asmodeus he said something in a demon language that made Asmodeus laugh.

"Okay son" he said once he had stopped laughing "I'll leave you two alone" then he left the room.

"What the hell Magnus?" I yelled at him "You were helping us, not your stupid father"

"I know Alec but you have to trust me" Magnus begged me "I know what I'm doing"

"What makes you think I can trust you?" I yelled, Tears already running down my face "I never thought you'd be the one to betray me Magnus, I always thought you'd be on my side"

"No Alec you don't get it" Magnus cried running up to me and looking me straight in the eyes "I'd never hurt you"

"You already have" I said turning away from him, Magnus grabbed my face and kissed me; I melted into him until I remembered what he'd done.

"Please Alec I'm trying to help you" Magnus whispered after I pushed him away "I'm not actually working with my father, it's all part of a plan that me and the others made"

"How do I know I can trust you though?" I asked Magnus warily, Magnus reached into his pocket and pulled out a letter that he gave to me.

"I have to go now but if my father asks then tell him that I broke up with you okay?" I gave him a confused look "I'm not breaking up with you but you've got to lie otherwise this plan won't work and if it doesn't work you won't be able to get out of here"

"Okay Magnus" I said smiling weakly, Magnus kissed me again before walking out of the room.

POV: Jace

"He should have sent us a message by now" I said as I continued to pace "What if it doesn't work?"

"It will work Jace" Izzy tried to ensure me while nervously ununwinding and rewinding her whip around her wrist "We just gotta have faith in Magnus"

"But what if he's just playing us?" Bat asked "For all we know this could all be a trap"

"Look ive known Magnus for a really long time and I know that he'd never betray you guys" Tessa said "just give him time" just as this was said a fire message appeared and Jace caught it before in it hit the ground.

"Its Magnus" Jace told everyone "He told his father that he almost killed us so that he wouldn't expect us to come and the guards have the night off"

"Sweet" Izzy said fixing her whip around her wrist again "Lets go get my brother and Bowen back"
