Letters of Consideration

Lu Xun was working on a plan for a battle against the Shu forces when Zhou Yu's letters arrived, the messenger was from Zhao Yun's unit he could tell. Lu Xun gestured for him to have a seat as he read the letter marked 'read first'. It was very clearly from Zhou Yu, because even Zhuge Liang had difficulty mimicking the eccentric strategist, and he had certainly tried. It was the topic of the letter that concerned him, it was asking him to visit a rather obscure location. He read the letter again, that is after he decrypted it from one of their personal encryptions so that no one could leak their plans. (It read as follows:)

Lu Xun,

I'm writing to you now because I face a very real dilemma, and I feel you are the only one qualified to assist me in this matter. Let me first state that I am in no danger, nor do I need rescuing, the request for your presence is because of the sheer amount of questions I need to ask and that only you would be qualified to answer. If you are unable to come then please read the second, and I apologies about the length and amount of questions written, letter I sent with Lord Zhao Yun's messenger.

To give you an idea why I am only just asking this now, Lord Zhuge Liang has finally given me his side of that story you all insisted I needed to hear. I appreciate that you all wanted him to be the one that told me, but something far more dire than anyone could have predicted has occurred since you left. As I said I am in no danger, but I fear that someone else is. There is so much that I don't remember of the last seven months that I need someone I can trust to tell me what was going on, and I don't have a lot of time to get this information. If you cannot come or if you will be delayed beyond the span of a few months please send a return letter to my second letter immediately.

In regards to what I know of the current situation of our beloved Wu. Don't you dare let Sun Quan attack Shu right now, it goes against everything that Ce and Wu stands for to attack someone while they are down. Without Master Liang there the Shu forces are taxed enough trying to hold a front against Cao Cao's forces in the northern plains. Propose for a meeting with Liu Bei and arrange something to ensure peace between the two forces of Shu and Wu. Sun Quan has no idea what Cao Cao's forces are like to fight alone, we are going to need them to force them into a peaceful resolution.

If you require further counseling on the matter you need only ask. What I can tell you is that Shu is working towards the same goal Ce had when he was alive, which is the betterment of the lives of the common people. We have no reason to fight them Lu Xun, speak with Master Meng on the matter if you doubt this. Our former Lord Sun Jian respected both Liu Bei of Shu and Cao Cao of Wei. The problem with Cao Cao is that his ambition reaches so high that it clouds his judgment, it doesn't mean that he is a bad ruler. He just happens to be ruthless, and if we can get Wu and Shu-Han to work together we can get him to keep it within his boarders.

Awaiting your reply, Zhou Yu

Lu Xun frowned, he read through the letter several times and realized that his mentor was correct. Shu and Wu had no reason to fight, their goals were close enough that the two kingdoms could work together to accomplish them and support each other. He tucked the second letter in his coat and went straight for where Lord Lu Meng was training. He found instead that Lu Meng was instructing generals Gan Ning and Ling Tong in their forms. He was also chastising them based off that expression and gesture, he shouted gathering their attention. Lu Meng sighed as Gan Ning and Ling Tong turned his way then went back to fighting, he himself came to see what Lu Xun wanted.

"I got a letter from Zhou Yu today, he said that I should share the contents of it with you," Lu Xun offered by way of explanation. He handed him the first letter and watched Lu Meng scan through it, there was a soft smile growing on his face as he finished.

"He's right, but what was with the beginning of that letter?" Lu Meng asked raising an eyebrow at the younger strategist.

"Um, its rather difficult to explain, especially since I don't actually know what he's curious to know about yet," Lu Xun answered brushing his hat sideways, "well is there anything we can do?" Lu Meng brought a hand to his chin, and Lu Xun could see his mind working through it like a puzzle.

"I may have one or two ideas, but the one that comes to mind is rather an interesting solution," the man answered finally, "ask Zhou Yu if where he's at he can host said meeting. We could send you, Lord Sun Quan, and Lady Shang Xiang to meet with Lord Liu Bei where he's at. I assume that the Shu strategist is there as well?" Lu Xun could see where this was going, it was brilliant.

"I'll ride ahead and ask, do you think you can handle everything here while I'm gone?" Lu Xun asked. Lu Meng smirked back at him, and it reminded him exactly while that was a silly question.

"I've been in charge here since before you were a twinkle in your parents eyes Xun, I think I can handle it for now," Lu Meng reminded him, "you should take Gan Ning with you before I kill him. I am not an Old Man." Lu Xun chuckled and went to pack, he had things to do.
