I got a PM from someone who wished to remain anonymous regarding the name of that magic from last chapter. They came up with Condemned Spirit Magic, which I found pretty sweet. But anyway, what was that fire Natsu smelled? (Should be obvious, but okay)

Chapter 21

Dragon God

As the trio made their way to the source of the scent of powerful fire, they could see where it came from. Raised from he ground was a large volcano, filled to the brim with bubbling hot magma. The sides were cracked in some places allowing the fiery liquid through, but Link, using his magic, created a large crevice for the lava to flow through so it wouldn't scorch the villages, if it got far enough. Scaling the mountain, Gray almost fell, but Natsu helped him to some better footing.

Reaching the rim of the volcano, they could see two things. A large man with a strange head dress clad in draconian armor, and Lucy chained at his feet. Natsu was relieved to see she was still alive, but enraged by her predicament.

"Lucy!"

"Natsu!"

The man looked down at Lucy with slight anger, and kicked her, very hard.

"Quiet, girl! I don't need any talkin' right now! Alright, Wizzro, what can these guys do? All I know is that the wierd pinkette smells like fire."

Startling all of them, Wizzro rose from the magma with visible tears in it's cloak.

"The pinkette... is a user of Fire Dragon Slayer Magic... The one with the... cold aura... is a skilled user of Ice-Make," as it labeled Gray, it spoke with great disgust. "And the golden-haired man... is the Earth Dragon Slayer the princess tasked us... to retrieve. Be wary...while they are quite powerful... alone... they were powerful enough together to... defeat me... surprisingly... They broke my contracts with Death Sword and the other..."

Upon hearing the word 'contract', Lucy struggled to a sitting position. Contracts? What is he talking about?

The red-clad man laughed heartily at the specter's expense.

"You lost to these guys?! HA! I knew you were the weakest out of us three, but this is sad! I though your keys made you unstoppable."

"Be wary... Volga... They are more powerful than they... appear..."

The man, now known as Volga, grunted.

"Eh, we both know that I am too. So what do you bugs call yourselves? Unless you're nothin' but bugs, that is."

"I'm Natsu. This is Gray Fullbuster and Link. And my friend Lucy is the one that you were kickin'. And I don't like that." As he finished his sentence, he cracked his knuckles with surprising volume.

"Kid, don't try to scare me. I got rid of fear when I made my deal with Cia. My soul for my strength."

Link shook his head and locked eyes with the draco knight.

"Your soul? Pitiful, pitiful man."

Volga cracked his knuckles and stepped forward, the magma bubbling even more from his very movements.

"So what? My soul wasn't doing anything for me. Besides, all I care about is strength, and that deal made my strength unsurpassed by any man."

Link raised his fist and clenched it. "Do you wish to see if the same goes for Dragons?"

Volga grinned evily and raised his arm, a magic seal above his head.

"Partial Take-Over: Draco Fist."

They were all surprised, mainly for two things: This guy could use partial take-over, and judging by his strength a full-body take-over, and the fact that he is using a DRAGON ARM.

"Oh, did ya think this armor was for show? No, I'm a draco knight through and through!"

With his now dragon-esque fist he punched Link, though the latter used his Earth Dragon strength to catch his arm and throw him away.

"And I still possess a soul."

Though Volga was initially surprised by Link's power, he slowly allowed a smile onto his face.

"Good to know you aren't as weak as you look. Guess I won't hold back."

With that, he ran over to Link, and using new strength, slugged Link in the back, surprising him.

"Eh, what? Where did this come from?!"

Volga laughed and kicked him in the gut, the magma trailing his movements inflicting additional burning. Link, seeing Volga as a much higher threat than before, began sweating. He could tell that from the sheer force of the blow that he was strong, but he also possessed some sort of control over the surrounding magma. Sadly, though it is fire magic, this is one of the forms Natsu can't eat.

"Earth Dragon's Iron Fist!"

He threw a powerful left hook at the draco knight, who matched it with his draconian fist, with the stone around Link's cracking a bit. Link quickly brought up his stone-clad leg and kneed Volga in the jaw, though he grinned evilly and headbutt Link with devastating force. He was forced back, though he really didn't go too far, as the magma was a bit of a threat, too.

Link realized that he was at a disadvantage. Though his Earth Dragon Slayer Magic granted him immense strength, Volga's strength was on a whole new level. Volga however, was having himself a great time.

"Come on, kid! I wanna see more! Give me more!"

He jumped above Link and punched with enough force that Link had to use both hands to hold off the otherwise deadly force.

"Oh, what happened to that 'dragon strength', kid? Did it fail? OR IS THIS IT?!"

With his free, non-dragon hand, he grabbed Link's face and threw him into the volcano.

"LINK!"

They all screamed at once as he hit the molten rock and slowly sank. Natsu, enraged by this, lit his hands ablaze and charged in at Volga.

"YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT!"

Though Natsu came in fast, Volga easily caught the fire slayer's fist, though he soon lost his balance due to there being a fresh layer of ice on the ground, allowing Natsu to exploit this weakness and land an amazing blow to Volga's face. The aforementioned man was sent flying into the volcano. After a few seconds, he rose out of the magma without so much as a bruise.

"Not bad, but it was pretty pathetic."

As he was about to climb out, he realized he couldn't.

"The hell?"

He then realized the stone scale-covered hand grabbing his leg with the sheer weight preventing him from getting out.

"Eh, so this kid survived that? Impressive. Now I see why Wizzro lost to the-!"

He was quickly dragged back into the pool of fire, where he came face-to-face with Link, now clad in his Earth Dragon's Scales. He noticed that he also was wearing different earrings, as well as a necklace. The earrings were red with a few spike patterns on it, and the necklace was a golden scale with a blood-red outline with rubies one the sides, then fangs of some sort, followed by more rubies. The entire necklace was held together by sturdy iron wire with a deep black color. (1)

He was quickly punch in the face, this time feeling pain from the blow, as well as Link's stone suffering no damage. It was swiftly followed by a hard kick to the face with enough force to cause the entire volcano to shake. Volga smiled maniacally, as Link was beginning to get on his level. That, and the fact that he was displaying surprising maneuvering ability when surrounded by bubbling magma.

Link wasted no time in delivering blow after blow to the Scorched Berserker, soon driving him into the wall of the volcano. While Volga reied to climb out, Link clasped his hands together and raised them above his head, then proceded to slam his stone-clad knuckles into the dracoknight. The force of the blow was immense: So immense, in fact, that the shockwave caused a large amount of lava to blast out of the volcano in a similar fashion to an explosive eruption. Natsu was shocked when the eruption took place, and did the one thing he though was appropriate. He lept into the volcano after the brawling men. Thankfully, though he can't consume the magma, his slayer magic makes him highly resistant to heat of any form.

Swimming to where the two dynamos were fighting, he was astounded by the fierosity Link was displaying. Typically, he was very layed back, not trying very hard aside from a finishing blow, but was putting a lot of force behind every blow, trying to finish this fight as soon as possible. Of course, Natsu figured it out.

Erza. They have been getting pretty close lately.

He would have gotten closer, but Link's current rage was something even he didn't want to deal with. Instead, he climbed back out and waited for when he could join the fight. Instead, he ran off to help Lucy.

Under the surface, Link was maintaining his upper hand, but was having trouble doing so. Volga was still stronger than him, and even from his vulnerable position, he had enough leverage to fit in some strikes of his own in, and they were painful. Eventually, Link felt the urge to take another breath. Taking a break from pummeling Volga, he tried to swim to the top, but he was stopped by Volga, who smiled and shook his head, then proceded to slam his dragonoid fist into Link's gut, cracking the stone and winding him, then slammed him into the wall, where he intended to let him lose conciousness from lack of oxygen. However, he was surprised when Link Requipped a new pair of gauntlets on. They had red leather around his arms with golden plating covering the backs of his hands and forearms. (2) Volga honestly didn't care what new armor he wore, he was finishing the job. However, when he punched him with his draconian arm, it was easily held of by his newly armored hand.

Link, using Volga's confusion to his advantage, quickly swam to the surface and took the most rewarding breath he has ever taken.

"Oh, fresh air, have I ever told you how much I love you?"

He climbed all the way out and shook off as much of the burning lava as he could before looking back into the crater.

"Get up here, Volga. We aren't done yet."

Link then felt a clod chill rush up his back. There was something very powerful under the surface, and it was rising fast. It suddenly burst from the depths, and before them was...

...a dragon.

"DRAGON SOUL: VOLVAGIA!" (3)

Hearing the name Volvagia caued Link to grit his teeth and clench his fists. That wasn't just some dragon, this was one of the closest friends he had. (4)

Volga will pay.

Link now felt the need to get very serious.

"With the earth in my left hand, my power is vast. With the arth in my right hand, my power is limitless. Alone, powerful. Together, unstoppable. Jagged Fate: Earth Dragon's Megaton Earth Bomb!"

He hurled the bedrock at Volga, who attempted to use something that further proved he was using a dragon for his Take-Over. A Dragon's Roar. He blasted a very high-pressure stream of lava at the boulder, though it had no effect. And due to this being a dragon slayer spell, he took massive damage. The large sphere of stone rolled down the mountain with Volga clinging helplessly to it, slamming into trees and such and hurting Volga even more.

After the spell hit, Link Requipped out of his new equipment and back to his typical attire, and allowed his scales to disapate. However, it seemed that Volga wasn't done yet. Even with the catastrophic damage he had suffered, he made his way back to the top of the mountain with Dragon Soul deactivated.

"T-think you've... won? Too... bad. I'm just g-getting... STARTED!"

He raised both his hands to his mouth and inhaled, then released his strongest spell yet.

"DRAGON GOD'S MAGMA ROAR!"

Neither Link, Natsu, Gray, or Lucy had even the faintest clue as to what this magic was, but one thing was clear. They had to get out of the way. They succeeded in moving in time, and could then observe what exactly it could do. Any stone it came into contact with was completely erased, meaning this stuff was beyond hot.

"Now, I gotta replenish."

Suddenly, a stream of magma flowed up to Volga, and he promptly devoured it, then belched very loudly.

"Oh, yeah! That didn't just hit the spot, it freakin' slammed into it and burnt it away! Dragon God's Volcanic Knuckle!"

He ran in with a fist dripping the same lava that just erased stone, but Link had other plans. He raised his shield to intercept the blow, which was successful. However, Link was thrown back due to the sheer force of the blow.

"Oh, you're using weapons? I will too!"

He flicked his wrist upwards, and from the magma came a large lance with a long blade and sort of axe blades sprouting from where the main blade was attached to the handle, which seemed to be made of highly resilient steel. Just below the cutting edge was tied a very long red cloth, obviously meant for decoration purposes.

"I call it Hellfire. And in case you were wondering, anyone who has ver seen this sucker was burnt into nothingness. Like you're about to!"

He thrust with Hellfire, which seemed to glow red-hot the closer it got to Link. Link quickly drew his sword and used the shield to veer the lance off it's original course and miss him, then swung with his own weapon. Volga then raised Hellfire just in time to stop the glowing blade from hitting him, then released his roar. Link barely dodged it, but he looked on in horror as it was about to strike Lucy. He used his Sonido to grab her and get her out of they way, but then realized he made a huge mistake. This wasn't Lucy.

He soon felt a knife enter his side, then proceeded to throw the imposter far, far away.

"Nice one, Wiz!"

Lucy, or rather, Wizzro, chuckled and wiped it's knife clean and snapped it's fingers, causing it to disappear.

"Never... let down your... guard."

He was soon torched by Natsu's roar, which put him back into the heavily prefered state of unconciousness.

"Shut up, you cloak-wearing boogyman!"

Link then redirected his attention back to the wound on his side. He applied a thin but hard layer of stone to the affected area and looked on at Volga.

"Before we continue, I must ask about that magic of yours."

"I knew you'd ask that. Fine, I'll tell ya. I can use both Magma Dragon Slayer Magic and Lava God Slayer Magic. I am one of the few people to be able to fuse them together to create Dragon God Slayer Magic, and I'm proud of it. Now, let's finish this. Dragon God Slayer's Secret Art: Dragon God's Volcanic Uprising!"

He spun Hellfire faster than most people could see and thrust it upwards, causing the entire volcano to erupt in a fiery explosion from which Link, Gray, Natsu or Lucy could escape.

OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT. *Ahem* Pardon my language, but I was just freaking out over Volga's spell. Like seriously, DRAGON GOD SLAYER MAGIC?! WTF!? HOW IS THIS EVEN FAIR? And a flaming lance-axe named Hellfire to back it up? OH COME ON, VOLGA! THAT'S NOT EVEN FAIR! (1) This is the Fireshield Earrings as well as a better version of the Water Dragon's Scale, the Great Dragon's Scale. It allows whoever wears it to swim in any liquid in the same fashion as a dragon would. (2) Golden Gauntlets. Just sayin'. By the way, in Ocarina of Time, these things never reached their full potential, so Imma say this now: A Link to the Past logic will aply as well as Ocarina of Time logic, so not only can Link bench over 1,000 tons with these suckers on, but he can also hit way harder. (3) Dragon Soul is obviously the best name for this unfair Take-Over. (4) I'm going with the Ocarina of Time Manga where Link bought Volvagia with every Rupee he had and became awesome friends with it, mainly because Volvagia was SUCH A CUTE FREAKIN' HATCHLING.
