Disclaimer: Avatar and Teen Titans don't belong to me.
Ladies and gentle-readers, this is it! The last chapter of "Avatar Titan: Volume I"! Many thanks to those of you who are following this story and are prepared for its sequel. With that said, let's conclude this epic story here with the final part of "Avatar Titan: Volume I"!
Sozin's Comet Part 4: Avatar Aang
The comet continued to ravage the night sky, and Aang's fight with Ozai was not looking optimistic. He was still inside the stone sphere, which continued to protect him from the intense fire blasts of the sinister warlord, but it was clear to the both of them that it was slowly weakening.
"Come on out, Avatar!" he yelled tauntingly as Aang struggled to hold it together. "You can't hide in there forever!"
Back at the airship fleet, the zeppelins were scattered all across the sky as Sokka and Toph ran across one of the ships before stopping at the rudder.
"Toph, metabend the rudder so it's jammed in a turning position," Sokka instructed. "The ship will spiral and slam into the others."
"Got it," Toph replied. She moves Sokka out of the way, then spits into her hands, and rubbed them together. The blind earthbender gripped and metalbends the rudder while grunting in effort, and the Imperial Firebenders inside the ship crash into the wall. Just as Sokka predicted, the ship crashes into the others.
"Have I ever mentioned how sweet it is that you invented metalbending?" Sokka asked.
"You could stand to mention it more," Toph answered as the airship slammed into another airship, but then the hatch opened and a firebender came out, aiming at the duo who ran away upon seeing him. The firebender then unleashed a huge blast of fire at the two. They barely managed to avoid getting scorched, but fall off the side of the airship and Sokka uses his sword in an attempt to stop the fall. They fell and landed on a platform, which in turn, broke Sokka's leg and his sword landed just in front of him. Toph fell off and Sokka held onto her hand.
"Ahh! My leg!" he shouted in pain. "Hang on, Toph!"
"Aye, aye, captain!"
Two firebenders came out on the platforms next to them. One of them was about to shoot them off, but Sokka threw his boomerang at him. He kicked his sword in to his hand and threw it at the other one's platform.
"Bye, space sword." Sokka said sadly as his one-of-a-kind sword plummeting into the forest below.
More Imperial Firebenders came outside, ready to finish the pair.
"I don't think boomerang's coming back, Toph. It looks like this is the end." Sokka said as Toph starts tearing up, fearing this really was the end.
Suddenly, the firebenders ran away, much to Sokka's confusion. The airship gets struck by a different one and Sokka lets Toph fall onto it before jumping down himself, hurting his leg again in the process. He falls over in pain.
Standing up, Toph asked, "How did that happen? Did boomerang come back?"
Sokka looks up and his eyes widened upon seeing their saviour, "No, Suki did."
The Kyoshi Warrior rode on the last functioning airship with a triumphant smile.
While all that was going on, Ozai continued to send a barrage of fire blasts at Aang, still protected by the stone sphere, but it and Aang's strength was clearly weakening as the stone flew back to a stone pillar with one fire blast. The Fire Lord then went up and sent a torrent of flames at the sphere, causing it to start to crumble, before stopping after a few seconds and charges up another intense attack, before unleashing a blast at its maximum power, shattering the rock. Aang was able to deflect the fire with an air shield, but he wasn't able to prevent himself from being sent to the pillar. Then a jutted edge of rock came in contact with his scar. Aang's eyes widened, feeling something as rocks started to crumble on top of him. Ozai looked upon the sight before walking towards the pile of rocks in front of him.
"Come on out, little boy," he said as he bent forward to the pile. "You're about to be-"
Then the unthinkable happened. Aang jumps out, now in the Avatar State, and grabs Ozai by his goatee. While momentarily shocked, the Fire Lord tried to firebend at the Avatar, but Aang merely knocked his hand away. He created a blast of air sending Ozai flying backwards before crashing into a pillar of rock. He fell down to the ground and as the dust clears, he looked up at Aang in the sky with a sphere of air around him. Aang proceeds to roar and creates fire out of his mouth, fists and feet. The Avatar creates a massive gust of air causing Ozai to cover himself as he groans in struggle. Pillars of earth disintegrate and move toward Aang as other pieces of rock rise up from the ground to surround Aang. Water also rises toward Aang as he creates a ring of fire around himself. The earth begins to create a ring inside the air sphere as the water continues to rise up and form another ring inside the earth sphere. Ozai, stared at the sight while Aang's glowing white eyes glared down to him
Back at Ba Sing Se, Cyborg and Raven were busy taking out firebenders and tanks left and right, Raven struck them down with blasts of dark magic and Cyborg fired away with his cannon, when Cyborg noticed one tank approaching Raven from behind, without her noticing. Focusing his mind, several holes opened on Cyborg's shoulders, and dozens of homing missiles were launched at the tank. The missiles made an explosive impact and the tank was reduced to scrap metal.
Cyborg ran up to Raven "Just like old times, eh Rave?" he asked with a smirk.
"You can say that again," Raven answered, giving a small smile of her own.
The duo see more Firebenders heading their way, each one letting out a battle cry. Cyborg and Raven exchange nods before they charge at the enemy horde, letting out battle cries of their own.
Meanwhile, Bumi took care of some tanks that surrounded him, sending chunks of rocks at the opening so they couldn't fire at him before earthbending the ground below them, sending them all flying and landing on top of each other. The Firebenders inside got out of the tanks, groaning in pain, while Bumi laughed like a maniac and leaped towards the Earth Kingdom palace.
Elsewhere, Iroh stood outside the palace, staring at the Fire Nation flag that draped over the Earth Kingdom symbol before sending a blast of fire from his fingertips, burning the flag, revealing the Earth Kingdom symbol. Iroh then smiled as the ashes of the flag blew away. Ba Sing Se was finally free again.
Tables have turned against Ozai as he was rammed into by the Elemental Sphere of Aang, who then blows him off his Sphere with airbending. Ozai managed to recover and quickly used firebending to fly away from Aang, who then used earthbending to shoot bullets of earth in a machine gun-like fashion at him. The Avatar continued to chase a fleeing Ozai.
Back at the Fire Nation, Zuko still had not recovered from his critical injury. Katara immediately ran up to try and assist her friend, only for Azula to shoot a bolt of lightning in between her and Zuko, laughing maniacally. The badly injured Prince attempts to get back up, but is too weak and can do nothing but watch as Azula shoots another lightning bolt at Katara, which she dodged, albeit narrowly. Katara turned to watch as Azula landed on a roof nearby. She began charging another lightning attack.
"I'd really rather our family physician look after Little Zuzu if you don't mind."
Azula shot lightning and fire at her from the roof of a building. Katara manages to dodge them all and hides behind a column nearby. "Zuzu, you don't look so good!" the crazy female sibling said in a taunting manner.
She shoots at Katara again. Katara manages to dodge her and moves behind another column. She spots water nearby and bends it onto the roof, but Azula has already moved. She came from behind her on fire jets and Katara is forced to flee. She uses the nearby water channel to make ice to slide on as Azula chases after her and fires another blast of fire which vaporizes it completely. Azula unleashed a large burst of fire, but Katara managed to get away. The waterbender gets off her ice path, but trips on a grate and sees some water below. She looks up and grabs some chains hanging from the wall as Azula approached the grates.
"There you are, filthy peasant!" Azula barked at her. She prepared to finish Katara off when she heard the sound of something being tossed at her from being. She caught the object and looked to see it was a grey disk. Azula was confused, before the disk suddenly released some sort of smoke cloud in her face. The stinging sensation forced her to clutch her eyes, before her watering, blood-shot eyes snapped open to see the culprit: Robin.
Snarling in bling anger, Azula took her attention away from Katara and focused on the Boy Wonder, generating a lightning attack. Seeing the sight, she grabbed the chain and ran up to Azula, freezing both her and the princess in a block of ice using the water inside the drains that were below them, seconds before Azula could fire a bolt of lightning at Robin. Her eyes widened in shock, Azula couldn't even turn around to see Katara exhale, melting the ice inside them, chaining Azula's hands together and wrapping the chains around the drain before melting the ice. Both girls gasping for breath, Katara tightened the chains to ensure that Azula could not break herself free, annoying the princess. With the crazed Princess dealt with, the boy wonder and waterbender rushed over to Zuko.
"How is he?" Robin asked as Katara rolled Zuko on to his back.
"His injury is critical," she answered and begins healing him. "Let's hope he pulls through."
Zuko opens his eyes, feeling the pain lessen, and smiles weakly at Katara and Robin, who smile back as the latter sheds a tear.
I think I'm the one who should be thanking you.
As the two help him up, Azula pants in anger, screams in madness, and breathes fire, writhing in an attempt to break free. Finally she stops and begins to cry uncontrollably. Katara, Robin and Zuko watch in horror and pity. All this could've gone better.
Back to Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Ozai; the former continues chasing the latter and uses earthbending to move two pillars in front of Ozai, who recoils and flies away. The Avatar sends a wave of water at Ozai, causing him to crash to the ground. As Ozai recovers and looks up, Aang bursts through the pillar he landed near him. Ozai retreats backward and shoots a stream of fire at Aang. Aang drops to the ground and narrowly misses Ozai, who propels himself away with fire shooting from his feet. Aang rises and begins following the fleeing Ozai again. The Fire Lord lands on a pillar and launches a wide fire blast at Aang, who uses earthbending to move two large pillars to protect himself.
Aang breaks and lets the pillars fall as Ozai flew away again, but he then unleashes multiple blasts of fire toward Ozai, who manages to dodge them all. Ozai lands on the side of a pillar and launchers three similar fire blasts at an approaching Avatar, who uses a combination of air and waterbending to disperse them with ease. Aang fires a strong blast of air at Ozai, disintegrating the pillar he stood on but he manages to get away. He continues to chase him as Ozai looks back, realizing Aang is catching up. Aang moves his arm in a circular motion causing water to wrap itself around Ozai's leg and up to his outstretched arm, whipping him around, before slamming him on top of a pillar. Ozai struggled to get up as Aang; still in the Avatar State, floated above him, before lifting his arms upward, encasing the Fire Lord's hands and feet in stone, trapping him. Ozai could do nothing but look up, feeling something he hadn't felt in years: fear.
"Fire Lord Ozai," Aang said with the voices of all of the past Avatars in his voice. "You and your forefathers have devastated the balance of this world, and now you shall pay the ultimate price!" Aang then made a weaving motion, and under the power of his past lives, he created a stream made from the four elements to head towards the Fire Lord's black heart, ready to end it all. When, suddenly, Aang's tattoos and eyes ceased glowing, and the stream fell apart, causing only water and small pebbled to be dropped onto Ozai. Surprised, the Fire Lord looked at Aang as he descended in front of him, releasing his bonds through earthbending, and looks away from him.
"No. I'm not going to end it like this." he whispered.
"Even with all the power in the world...you are still weak." Ozai said before he moves to attack Aang, who senses it with the seismic sense he learned from Toph. Aang stamps down and lifts a foot up, dragging a pillar of earth along with him, deflecting Ozai's attack and binding him inside the rock. He circles Ozai and proceeds to bind his other hand as Ozai attempts another futile attack. He pulls the rocks down into the earth slightly, causing Ozai to kneel. The Fire Lord attempts one final fire breath attack, but Aang uses airbending to stop and approach him before putting one hand on Ozai's forehead, and one on his chest, while he watches in horror. Aang then closed his eyes and concentrated, remembering something the lion turtle had taught him when they met.
"In the era before the Avatar, we bent not the elements but the energy within ourselves."
Aang's head arches back, and blue streaks of light came out of his eyes and mouth while, Ozai, still overwhelmed with fear, erupted red streaks of light from his eyes and mouth. The two lights appeared to be balanced before the red light started to consume the blue light.
"To bend another's energy, your own spirit must be unbendable, or you will be corrupted and destroyed."
Ozai's energy begins making its way to Aang's body, consuming the blue and replacing it with red energy. The energy reaches his face and continues to cover the beams shining out his mouth and eyes. The red light begins to take control and the blue light diminishes, as it has taken over almost completely with just one eye left. The blue energy begins to disappear, but at the last second it blasts out of Aang's eyes, overwhelming the red energy in the process and proceeding to take over Ozai's own body. Aang completely takes over Ozai's energy and an intense beam of blue energy erupts into the sky. The beam disappears and Ozai falls to the ground as Aang releases him. Ozai attempts to rise and attack, but falls back exhausted and unable to bend.
"What? What...did you do to me?" an out-of-breath Ozai demanded.
"I took away your firebending." Aang answered. "You can't use it to hurt or threaten anyone else ever again."
Aang steps forward and looks toward the sea as fire spreads on the land below. Aang breathes deeply and enters the Avatar State briefly, showing his control of the ability. The young Avatar begins to bend the water from the ocean below to extinguish the fires. Many shots of the water rise to extinguish the flames. Aang lowers the water back to its normal level. Momo returns to Aang's shoulder.
A few minutes later, Sozin's Comet was now leaving Earth's atmosphere and disappeared into space. Aang, with the still unconscious Fire Lord next to him, met back up with Sokka, Toph, Suki, Beast Boy and Starfire.
"You did it!" Sokka exclaimed. "You should have seen yourself, it was amazing! You were all like, pshoom! Pfoom! Pfoom! Phish! Whoom! And he was all like, eugh, eh, eh, eh, eugh, aye!"
"Yeah, dude," Beast Boy agreed. "That was like ten-zillion on the awesome scale! Ozai didn't know what hit him!"
A giggling Starfire flew forward and treated Aang to a tight hug, "We are most jubilant at your victory, Aang." She said happily to the airbender.
Then Suki cautiously walked towards the body of Ozai."So, did you...you know...finish the job?" she asked.
"I'm still alive..." Ozai angrily responded as he awakened. Suki then immediately pulled back from him in fear.
"I learned there was another way to defeat him and restore balance." Aang replied. "I took his bending away."
"Wow..." Toph said as her eyes and the other's (minus Beast Boy) eyes widened in surprise. "Who taught you that?"
"A giant lion-turtle." Aang answered as if talking about the weather.
"You have the craziest adventures when you disappear." Toph remarked with a smile while Sokka and Beast Boy walked up to Ozai.
"Well, look at you, buster." he said in a mocking tone. "Now that your firebending's gone, I guess we should call you the 'Loser Lord'."
"I...am...the Phoenix King!" he said weakly, trying to get back up, only to collapse to the floor, semi-conscious and drooling.
"Oh, sorry, didn't mean to offend you 'Phoenix King of Getting His Butt Whooped'!" Toph replied while punching her fist into her palm.
"Or maybe you'd prefer 'Washed-up Warlord'!" Beast Boy taunted, also joining in.
"Yeah! Or how about King of the ... Guys Who ... Don't Win?" Suki, with a pathetic attempt, tries adding an insult.
"Better leave the name-calling to us, dudette." Beast Boy told Suki.
The next morning, at the Fire Nation Royal Palace, Zuko is trying to put on his robe, but is having due to his injury.
"You need some help with that?" a familiar voice asked. Zuko turned to see standing by the doorway was…
"Mai! You're okay!" he said happily "They let you out of prison?" he asked.
"My uncle pulled some strings," she explained while helping Zuko with his robe. "And it doesn't hurt when the new Fire Lord is your boyfriend."
"So does this mean you don't hate me anymore?" he asked in anticipation.
Mai blushed, "I think it means I actually kind of like you." She admitted before they share a loving kiss. Whey they break apart, Mai's tone and expression changes to a serious and stern one "But don't ever break up with me again!"
Zuko laughs nervously as Mai's face softens again before they exchange another hug.
Outside, a crowd stood in front of the Fire Nation coronation plaza, as people of all nations and the reunited Teen Titans gathered around to witness Zuko be crowned the next Fire Lord. Starfire predictably treated Robin, Raven and Cyborg to her signature bear-hugs in joy from their safe return and as the group exchanged their elation of the war have finally come to an end, Cyborg noticed the depressed look on Sokka's face.
"What's up with him?" Cyborg asked, gesturing to Sokka.
"Oh, uh, Sokka kinda lost his weapons yesterday." Suki answered, having been told about what happened during the airships battle that lead to Sokka losing both his one-of-a-kind sword and boomerang.
Sokka simply sighed in depression. Both of those weapons practically defined who he is. Losing them was like losing his identity. Without them, who is Sokka of the Water tribe?
"Is that all?" Beast Boy asked like it was no big deal.
Robin smiled and turned to the gray-skinned sorceress of the team "Raven, if you'd please?"
Raven nodded and walked over to Sokka. He is confused when she puts her right hand over his forehead. Her eyes suddenly glowed black and Sokka's eyes do likewise, surprising Katara.
"What is she doing?" she asked the Titans.
"You'll see." Cyborg asked as he and the others smirked.
It was then that Katara and Sokka saw their father among the crowd.
Raven looks deep into Sokka's mind; she saw him and Toph running across the zeppelins, the former breaking his leg, and the him throwing his sword and boomerang respectively before both fell into the forest below them.
"There they are," the demon-hybrid said to herself before her eyes glowed brighter. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos." She said.
A bright light appears in Sokka's arms, momentarily blinding him and the others except Raven. When they open again, what Sokka saw caused his eyes to open so wide they would've peeled off his skin.
"BOOMERANG! SPACE-SWORD!"
Sokka was indeed holding his signature weapons right in his hands.
Tears pour out of a super-deformed Sokka's eyes in a comical manner, "Let's never be apart again!" he said as he started...cuddling his weapons as if they were pets, causing the others to stare at him weirdly with sweat-drops on their temples. He suddenly flung himself at Raven, catching her by surprise with a barehug. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" he chanted as he hugged the disturbed demon girl tightly.
Just then, Hakoda walked over to the group of teens, catching their attention.
"Dad!" Sokka and Katara said as both siblings ran over and hugged their father.
"I heard what you two did," Hakoda said with a smile on his face. "I am the proudest father in the world, and your mother would be proud too." Upon hearing this, Katara clutched her necklace, tears forming, when Sokka saw Suki and the other warriors now back in their Kyoshi Warrior outfits and make-up.
"There's my favourite warriors! I have to admit, I kind of missed the face paint. So how does it feel to be in uniform again?" Sokka asked.
"It feels great!" Ty Lee said, popping up from behind, also wearing the outfit and make-up.
Sokka's eyes widened in shockbefore he stands protectively in front of Suki and points his crutch at Ty Lee.
"Careful, Suki! Ty Lee is pretending to be a Kyoshi Warrior again."
"It's okay. She's one of us now," she informed as Sokka's jaw dropped to the floor, speechless.
"Yeah, the girls and I really bonded in prison," Ty-Lee explained. "And after a few chi blocking lessons, they said I could join their group." She then went up to two of the warriors and placed her hands around their shoulders, catching them off guard.
"We're going to be best friends forever!" she said as the warriors smiled, albeit hesitantly.
Inside the plaza, Aang, now wearing Air Nomad robes and wearing a necklace similar to that of his old mentor 'Monk Gyatso's,' was meditating when Zuko walked up to him, now in Fire Lord robes.
"I can't believe a year ago my purpose in life was hunting you down, and now..." he said.
"And no were friends," Aang replied with a smile on his face.
"Yeah, we are friends," Zuko responded while Aang got up.
"I can't believe a year ago I was still frozen in a block of ice," he said. "The world's so different now."
Zuko puts a hand on Aang's shoulder "And it's gonna be even more different. We'll rebuild it together." The two boys share a warm hug before they both walked through the curtains as a Fire Sage sounds a gong while Zuko walked up to a cheering crowd. Zuko then raised his arm in a humble manner.
"Please, the real hero is the Avatar," Zuko said as he motioned to the young Airbender walking towards the crowd. The crowd then resumed cheering while Aang looked upon the crowd to Katara, smiling to her, to which Katara smiled back.
"Today, this war is finally over!" Zuko declared, to which the crowd responded with a thunderous cheer. "I promised my uncle that I would restore the honour of the Fire Nation, and I will. The road ahead of us is challenging. A hundred years of fighting has left the world scarred and divided, but with the Avatar's help, we can get it back on the right track, and begin a new era of love and peace." Then a fire sage got the Fire Lord diadem while Zuko kneeled down when the sage came up behind him.
"All hail Fire Lord Zuko!" the sage said as he placed the diadem into Zuko's top knot, crowning him the new Fire Lord. Zuko then rose upward as the crowd resumed cheering.
Later, after the ceremony. Team Avatar and the Teen Titans gathered outside the palace, as five of our heroes were getting ready for their departure.
"Robin," Aang. "We owe you and the Teen Titans our gratitude. We might not have even won this war had it not been for all your help. And we're honoured to call you our new allies. Thank you." The Avatar said before he bowed. Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Mai, Ty Lee, Suki, Pipsqueak, The Duke, Haru and Teo all bowed as well, as the Titans responded with the same gesture.
"Anytime, Aang. It's what we Titans do after all." Robin said with a smile, before turning to face his own team. "Well team, I think it's safe to say our work here is done."
"Are you sure you guys have to go?" The Duke asked in an almost downtrodden tone.
"Yeah," Katara added. "You're welcome to stay here with us." She offered.
"We appreciate the offer," Starfire said "But I'm afraid we must decline."
"See, you guys aren't the only ones with a home where you're needed." Raven added.
"Back in JC, we're heroes twenty-four seven. Kinda comes with the job." Beast Boy weighed in.
"Yeah," Cyborg nodded. "Somebody's gotta keep an eye on Jump City in case Slade ever comes back." He finished.
"We understand." Zuko spoke. "It's too bad though, you five would've made elite fighting forces on our side."
The Titans exchanged smiles before looking back at Team Avatar.
"What?" Sokka asked.
"You know," Robin said, "This doesn't have to be the only time. There is a way we can keep in touch."
Robin walked forward to Aang and handed him a yellow, circular device with a black centre, which had a white 'T' in the middle.
"What's this?" Aang asked.
"It's a T-Communicator." Robin answered. "Got enough for everyone. I had Cyborg design them so we could communicate with anyone, even from different dimensions." He then smiled "As far as I can tell, you've all proven to have potentials of real heroes."
As Robin spoke; Starfire handed identical communicators to Katara and Toph, Beast Boy handed some to Sokka, Zuko and Suki, Raven gave to Mai and Ty Lee, and Cyborg handed communicators to Haru, Teo, Pipsqueak and The Duke.
"From this day forward, you are all honorary Titans." Robin announced.
"Yeah, dudes," Beast Boy added with a smirk "When there's trouble, you know who to call."
"Cool!" The Duke said with a smile, looking at his T-Communicator in awe.
"Your world's technology never ceases to amaze, Robin." Sokka commented.
"I'm sure my dad is gonna love studying this." Teo added, observing his T-Communicator with interest.
"Kinda clashes with my clothes," Mai remarked. "Do these come in black?" she asked.
Aang then looked at Robin and said, "You know, it's been quite an adventure," he admitted, "We may have had some trust issues when we first met, but I couldn't have asked for a better friend." he said, holding out his right hand.
"The feeling's mutual," Robin added, grasping his hand with his own, shaking it firmly. He is then caught by surprise when the young airbender pulled the boy wonder in for a friendly hug, which Robin returned. This led to the Teen titans and Team Avatar all gathering for one final group hug together, which lasted for ten seconds before they pulled apart.
Robin turned to Cyborg, "Ready to get us back home, Cy?" he asked.
Cyborg smirked, "It took a me a while, but I found the right coordinates to Jump City." He explained as he tapped his forearm panel a few times before converting it into a cannon and fired a bluish-white beam of energy, which quickly formed into a portal leading back to the Titans dimension.
"When we get home, pizza's on me, y'all!" the perky Cyborg said as he walked through the portal first in a blue flash of light.
"Wonderful!" Starfire agreed as she walked through next.
"Sure, why not?" then Raven.
"Vegetarian pizza, right?" and Beast Boy.
The boy wonder was about to step in as well, but then turned back to smile at Team Avatar one last time, who each returned a smile. He gives a nod leaping into the portal, which disappeared into thin air.
Afterward, at Ba Sing Se, the entire group were inside Iroh's tea shop as Iroh played a tsnugi horn inside when Zuko came up and gave him a cup of tea, before moving on to everyone else.
"Zuko, stop moving!" Sokka said from behind a desk, painting a picture. "I'm trying to capture the moment. I wanted to do a painting, so we always remember the good times together."
"That's very thoughtful of you Sokka," Katara said sweetly, that is until she saw the actual painting. "Wait, why did you give me Momo's ears?"
"Those are your hair loopies!" Sokka corrected as most of the others gathered around to see Sokka's rather pathetic painting.
"At least you don't look like a boarcupine," Zuko added. "My hair's not that spiky!"
"I look like a man..." Mai added.
"And why did you paint me firebending?" Suki asked.
"I thought it looked more exciting that way." Sokka argued before Momo got on the table and started chirping. "Oh, you think you can do a better job Momo?" Then Aang got up and walked outside the balcony as the others kept observing Sokka's painting.
"Hey, my belly's not that big anymore," Iroh stated. "I've really trimmed down."
"Well I think you all look perfect!" Toph remarked, which got everyone to laugh at her joke.
Meanwhile, Aang looked at the sunset from the balcony while Katara started to walk toward him, stopping beside him, blushing. Then the two of them embraced in a hug, before looking upon each other and leaning in for a kiss.
Suddenly...what sounded like sarcastic clapping could be heard, causing Aang and Katara to break-up their kiss. The two then heard a voice that possessed a familiar coldness in its tone.
"You've done well, Avatar Aang." The voice said. "You've stopped the Fire Nation's hundred year war, beaten its war crazed ruler, and his lunatic daughter, and even got the girl of your dreams. I'd say I'm impressed..."
Aang and Katara's eyes widened in shock, with a slight hint of fear.
"No...It can't be..." Aang whispered.
Suddenly, Slade jumped off the roof from where he was watching them and landed between them and the balcony door.
Aang and Katara's expressions went from shock to anger.
"Slade." Aang said angrily.
"What are you still doing here, Slade?" Aang demanded as he and Katara took bending stances. "The war is over. You no longer have a reason to be here."
"To the contrary." Slade replied. "For I have far greater plans I have in mind for the future." He then closed his eyes. "I warned Ozai not to underestimate you or your friends, Avatar, but his foolish arrogance got the better of him, and now he shall pay for his folly. It's safe to say that my alliance with the Fire Nation is officially over."
"Then why are you still here?" Katara demanded.
Slade ignored her and looked at Aang, "You have indeed won your war, Avatar." he said. "But if you think you have seen the last of evil, the last of bloodshed, the last of war...the last of me, you are dead wrong." He eerily said, narrowing his visible eye on the 'dead' part.
"Your war maybe over, but my war has only just begun." Slade finished.
Finally having heard enough, Aang and Katara charge forward to attack Slade, but he suddenly vanishes in a bright flash of light.
All the others, having heard the commotion, ran outside to find the stunned Aang and Katara.
"Aang, Katara! What happened?" Sokka asked.
The airbender and waterbender exchanged hesitant looks before they faced their friends.
"Guys," Aang said "I have a feeling our troubles are just beginning."
THE END…?
And that puts an end to first Volume. Wow, I'm glad this over and done with. And I'm even gladder to be starting the second Volume pretty soon.
And yes, Sokka's got his sword and boomerang back. He's REALLY gonna need ém for later.
I'd like to say thank you to those who have followed and read my story, and give a special thanks to two special authors.
First to Edgar H. Sutter, thank you for the idea of writing a sequel to this story. He and I have already planned tons of future ideas and writing them will be a lot of fun. I just know it.
And last but not least, thank you Romance addict 16 for allowing me to write this story and pick up from where you left off. (and for not killing me).
Well, I hope to see you all for Volume II of Avatar Titan, but I'm gonna take a little time to work on my other stories before I work on the first chapter. So until then, AB 87 out, PEACE!
