"Girls, can you take my car over to the mechanic down the road?"
I heard the Professor's booming voice even with my headphones on at almost-maximum volume. I pulled them off, dropping them onto my bed before I walked out of my room. I leaned against the railing of the staircase and looked down. Blossom was standing in front of the Professor.
"I'm sorry Professor but I've got some stuff to do in the library," she said, resting her hands on her hips.
"I'll go," I heard a cheery voice call out, followed by Bubbles skipping happily out of the kitchen. "Boomie works there so I'd bring him some lunch too."
I saw the look of hesitation pass Professor's face and burst out laughing. The last time Professor had allowed her to drive the car, she ended up running into a bunch of trees, benches and people before finally landing the car into the fountain in the park. The Professor had a hard time getting the car out and a much harder time living the next one month without it as it was being repaired.
My laughter caught the attention of Professor. "Great, Buttercup, you can go since I know that you can't possibly have any important plans."
"What's that supposed to mean? I might be going to the gym or the arcade or the skate park!" I snapped, crossing my arms across my chest.
"Well, unlike the library that's at the other side of town, the mechanic's is along the way to the gym, arcade and skate park. You'll be fine," he replied. Blossom flashed me a victorious grin and floated out of the house.
"Fine," I groaned, walking down and over to the Professor to get the keys from him. Bubbles jumped over and grabbed my arms.
"Can I come with you, BC?" she asked sweetly, with her wide eyes.
I groaned again but I nodded. Bubbles let out an excited squeak as she rushed into the kitchen, shouting at me to wait for her. It took her about half an hour before she was ready and we headed over to the mechanics. Although I had told the Professor that I might have had plans on that day, I actually didn't. Well, I didn't have plans that required going out at least. The only thing I planned on doing was sitting in front of my television and meshing some buttons.
After I parked the car inside of the mechanic, Mitch walked over and lightly rapped the windscreen. I opened the door and got out, along with Bubbles.
"How can I help you?" he asked. "The Professor's usual?"
"I guess so," I said with a shrug. "How long will that take?"
"Well, it's just the simple changing of batteries and checking the stuff out so I'd give it about an hour or two… Since it's the amazing Buttercup and Bubbles who came to see me today, I'll give you the honor of letting your car be checked by me," Mitch chuckled, grinning playfully at me. I rolled my eyes and gave him a light shove.
"I'd like that though. I don't trust your other three employees," I replied, looking around the place. My words had caught the attention of his workers. Butch was staring at me with narrowed eyes while Boomer was smiling that 'yeah-right' kind of smile. There was no trace of Brick but there was someone else standing in the corner of the garage. "Who's he?"
"Since Brick is unfit for a while, he's filling in. New guy just got hired today. He's a little timid but he's nice," Butch said.
"His name is Felix," Mitch added.
I nodded and looked at him, waving hospitably. Felix narrowed his eyes at me for a moment before he mirrored my wave, just without a smile. I didn't know which part of that was nice so I figured Butch and I had varying opinions on the definition of nice.
Mitch started on the car as Bubbles moved over to Boomer, passing him a bunch of sandwiches she had made. Boomer was smiling widely at her as he ate some of them, listening to whatever she was telling him. Butch walked over to me and nudged me with his elbow.
"Yo, where're my sandwiches?" he asked.
I fixed him with a glare that almost made him cower. "What do I look like to you? Your own personal maid?" I scowled.
Butch scratched the back of his head, grinning sheepishly. "Well, I'm sorry but I'm really hungry," he complained. "Hey, Bubbles, are there any sandwiches for me?"
Bubbles looked over at the two of us and back to the container she was holding in her hands. There was about two more sandwiches in there and she walked over and passed them both to him. Butch took them gratefully and started eating.
"Next time, get Buttercup to cook for you," Boomer whined as he came to join us as well.
"Not a good idea, Boomie. Not unless you want your brother to fall ill," Bubbles giggled. I fixed her with a glare and she winked at me. I rolled my eyes, making eye contact with Felix in the process. From the other end of the room, he was leaning against the wall, fixing us with a hard, almost murderous glare.
I nudged Butch. "Hey, what's with that guy?" I whispered.
"Just leave him be. He's really anti-social," Butch replied, "almost comparable to Brick."
"Brick doesn't stand around in a corner and glare at people though," Boomer added. "I don't feel so comfortable around him either so just leave him be."
"He's probably just a poor kid who's lonely," Bubbles said. "Don't be so mean, you guys."
"You guys are all being mean to poor Mitch over here," Mitch complained from under the Professor's car. "Your chatting is really distracting. Boomer, Butch, if you guys have nothing to do, why don't you go grab some lunch? If something comes up, I'll call you. Be back by 2, okay?"
"Alright! Thanks Boss!" Butch cheered.
"You already ate though," Bubbles pointed out. "What are you guys going to do now?"
"We could get some food for Brick. I know that he hasn't been eating lunch these few days," Boomer suggested.
"Sounds good to me," Butch agreed. "You girls want to come along?" Bubbles nodded enthusiastically and it kinda disturbed me how comfortable she was in the company of these boys, who were our enemies about a year ago. All three of them looked at me and I crossed my arms, sighing.
"Fine, if you insist," I scoffed, starting to walk out.
"No one's insisting anything," I heard Butch grumble but when I turned to look at him, he flashed me a smirk and I immediately turned away, not wanting to be reminded about what almost happened between us.
If I had to be honest, I was at a lost as to whether I was glad or not that nothing ended up happening between us. As much as I hate to admit it, I actually wanted it that day. Butch looked utterly undesirable after the fight, his perspiration making him look ten times hotter than he already was. I know that I wasn't in love with him or anything but on that day, I really wanted him.
I really didn't know what came over me. I had to thank Brick for waking up and preventing it from happening. Maybe Brick waking up was Fate's way of telling me that Butch and I were so incompatible that even sex wasn't an option for us.
We got some Chinese takeout for Brick, with Boomer mentioning that it was Brick's favourite. Bubbles had gotten excited, saying that it was Blossom's favourite and perhaps the two of them were meant for each other. Of course, Butch and I laughed this of. There was no way the two of them could ever be put in the same room for more than an hour, much more enter a relationship.
Or so we thought.
Once we reached the boys' apartment, Bubbles had the last laugh.
Much to our disbelief, Blossom was over at the boys' place and Brick and her were seated on the couch in the living room. A laptop was on the coffee table in front of them and Brick was leaning over it, typing furiously, as Blossom watched him, occasionally barking some orders. The two of them were so engrossed in what they were doing that they hadn't noticed the four of us enter until Boomer cleared his throat.
And I swear, I'd never seen anything more hilarious than Blossom jumping out in shock. Brick, on the other hand, just stared at us, without a trace of any emotion on his face. Boomer walked over and placed the food in front of him.
"Got you lunch and it's your favourite too," Boomer said acidly.
"Thanks," Brick murmured and turned his attention back to the computer. He glanced over at Blossom. "Hey, I think it's almost done."
"Is it?" Blossom wondered aloud. She got over her shock fairly quickly and went over to look at the screen from behind him.
"Just what are the two of you up to?" I grumbled.
"Shh," Blossom said, pointing a finger at me. "Brick needs to concentrate."
"Damn it, Bloss, I told you, I'm fine. Have more faith in my skills," Brick muttered, still typing away. The room fell silent again, aside from Brick's keyboard. After a long while, Brick let out a sigh and threw himself back against the couch, almost hitting Blossom in the process. "There. Done."
"Wow, Brick, I'm actually impressed," Blossom admitted. She slapped him lightly on the head. "Well done, idiot."
Brick looked up at her. "Really? I'm the idiot?"
My sister fumed at her nemesis (or who I thought was her nemesis) and lightly swatted his head. I heard Butch cough and the two leaders turned to us.
"Oh, right," Blossom laughed. "We were hacking into Princess Morbucks' surveillance unit to gather footages."
"Why do you need to do that? Are you spying on your girlfriend?" Butch asked. "Isn't that a little too over-protective? The poor girl needs her privacy."
"Actually, give us a minute, we're still not done yet," Blossom said. She nodded at Brick and he pulled out his phone. As he dialed a number, the rest of us crowded around the computer. I could see the footage of Princess lying on her bed, wearing what looked to be a simple, translucent nightdress. She was lying on the bed, scrolling through her laptop. Her phone lay beside her. As Brick pressed his phone to his ear, Princess' phone lit up. She looked at it briefly, her eyes widening for a second, before she turned back to her laptop.
"She's ignoring me," Brick murmured.
"I can't tell from her face if she's guilty or just shocked that you're calling her," Blossom added. "Try sending her a text."
Brick nodded and fiddled with his phone. "Hey, baby. I know that it wasn't your fault and that all was HIM's doing. There's no need for us to continue ignoring each other. Would you answer my call? Please?" he recited as he typed. Brick looked at Blossom and she raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, come on. Text her like you mean it," Blossom said. "Say that the silence is killing you or something."
Brick look like he was going to throw up but he typed some other stuff before hitting send. All of us turned back to the computer screen. Princess looked at the text and her eyes widened happily. She immediately took the phone, hit some stuff and pressed it to her ear. Brick's phone started ringing.
"Bitch?" Butch read out from the screen, laughing. "You really love your girlfriend, don't you?"
Brick scowled but he picked it up, putting it on speaker.
"Babe?" he called softly.
"Brickie!" Princess' voice was shrill and ear-piercing and I was sure that Brick was glad that the phone wasn't against his ear. "I'm sorry for all that happened! I… I didn't know what got into me…"
"It's alright," Brick sighed. "Look, you didn't have a role to play in this, right?"
"No…" Princess said and I looked at the screen. She seemed to look worried.
"Alright… I believe you," Brick whispered and Princess immediately brightened and she actually looked relieved.
"Thank god, Brick… I was so worried you'd hate me… Do you still love me?"
I turned to Brick. His face was lacking of emotion. "Of course I still love you," he replied.
"Oh my gosh, Brick, I love you too!" Princess squealed. "C-Can we meet up soon?"
"Yeah sure, I'll see you tomorrow, babe, usual place and time. I got to go now, okay?"
"But-"
"Goodbye. I miss you," he said and he hung up. On screen, Princess stared at her phone. She grinned as she threw it on the bed, flopping down and erupting into a laugh.
"I wonder what's on her mind," Brick grumbled. "That bitch is going to pay for messing with me…"
"Like you're any better," Blossom teased. She lightly punched him at the side of the head and chuckled. "Well done today. We'll see how your date goes tomorrow and then we'll decide our next move."
"Care to explain now?" Butch asked, eyeing the two of them.
"Brick said that HIM kidnapped him through Princess. We're trying to figure out if Princess was completely in HIM's control or if she was in cahoots with him," Blossom explained as Brick reached for him food and started eating.
"Hey! How come none of us know about this?" Butch complained.
"What good would that have done?" Blossom asked.
"I don't know but what I do know is that I am completely against this!" Butch snapped.
"Exactly why she didn't ask you," Brick said. "Hey, Blossy, you haven't had lunch, right? Want some?"
Blossom took the box from him as he held it over his head and ate some of the noodles. After passing it back to him, she turned back to Butch. "Look, I didn't force Brick into this or anything. He agreed to do this willingly. We knew that Boomer and you would object so we kept you in the dark. For fairness sake, my sisters didn't know about it either. I want to get to the bottom of this kidnapping. Don't you want some justice too?"
"I don't care about that! What if Brick gets hurt again?" Boomer cut in. "I don't trust Princess! I don't trust HIM even more! What if they want revenge on him for escaping?"
"I'm well aware of that, Boomer," Brick said, his eyes still fixed on Princess. "As Blossom said, I agreed to this."
"Admit it, you were forced into it! That's why you were so uncomfortable the other day!" Butch countered.
Brick remained silent, still slurping on his noodles. After a while, he passed the box to Blossom again, who gratefully accepted it and started eating again. It seemed strange for me to witness my two leaders sharing food but something had obviously changed between them, especially since Blossom had saved Brick's life. Although he didn't say it, he seemed grateful.
"Butch, this is something I chose to do. You have no say in it," Brick said.
"I have no say in it? Sure! Fine! Go ahead and act stupid. Just don't come crying to me when something bad happens!" Butch yelled.
Brick stood up and turned to his brother. He walked over to Butch and pulled him into a hug. Butch stiffened, his eyes widening in surprise, though he made no move to push Brick away or to return the hug. "I know you're worried about me, Butch, especially after everything that's happened… but if we can help the girls make it through this, we'll be safe and everything can go back to the way it was. Let me help her, please. Once HIM is gone, we won't have to worry anymore," Brick said.
I saw all of Butch's doubt and hesitation on his face but at the same time, his eyes spoke of the logic he saw behind everything. He slowly returned his brother's hug (aww). "Sure you'll be alright?" he asked once he pulled away.
"I promise," Brick replied. He looked at Boomer. "You alright with this, Booms?"
"Yeah…" Boomer shrugged. "I mean, I'm sure you know how to make sound decisions, right bro?" Boomer's tone betrayed his worry and I could tell that Brick was aware of this as well.
"Hey, sis, I know you hate Brick and can't be bothered about his safety and all but is this really a good idea?" I asked, nudging Blossom.
"No, I don't think it's a good idea," Blossom said, loud enough only for Bubbles and me. "Frankly, I don't know what could happen but really, this is the only thing I could come up with."
"Will you at least be accompanying him when he's on his dead?" Bubbles asked.
"Of course I will. Ex-con or not, he still is a citizen and his safety is the priority," Blossom replied. "I'll try my best to make sure he's safe."
"And how does that include eating his lunch?" I asked, deciding to lighten the mood. Blossom looked down at the empty carton in her hands and flung it at me, fuming. Bubbles and I burst out laughing, gaining the attention of the boys. Boomer and Butch started laughing as well, obviously catching on to what we were teasing Blossom about. As Blossom turned red from embarrassment and rage, Brick just stared at us, his face emotionless but his eyes heavy and downcast.
I knew immediately that Brick hadn't agreed to it at all. Blossom obviously had forced him into it.
Holy shit guys. It has been too long. I sincerely apologise from the bottom of my heart. I seriously feel so hypocritical because I absolutely hate it when writers take so long to update stuff. I mean, those of you who have ever had a conversation with me before would not. I absolutely hate waiting for updates, which is why I only ever read completed fic. But I had been too busy to continue this story. It took me so long just to get this chapter out. Honestly, this story still has a long way to go, it's far from done and I seriously don't know how I'm going to manage it haha. I'm so scared I lose interest and completely stop writing it, just like what happened to my other non-PPG fics. :( I think I'll probably be able to get another chapter out by next week though since my exams end this Thursday (omg yes, I'm uploading this even though I have TWO papers tomorrow ahahah I'm so screwed).
I hope you guys have been enjoying this fic. You really don't know how happy it makes me when I see that I have a new follower/ favorite-r (lol what?) even though it had been ages since I last updated. I hope you guys would continue reading it and reviewing (oh yes, please review. I love reading your thoughts). I'm also open to suggestions for possible inclusions I could make to this story since I feel that what I have in my mind right now is so plain?
Anyway, I tried to add in some Reds into this chapter. But it seems like kinda a big leap from the Reds' previous interactions. I'll try to ease it out in the next chapter which is going to be either Brick or Blossom (probably Bloss though).
Also, I just wanted to know. Frankly speaking, do you guys think it'll be more reasonable for Brick and Blossom to get together first or Buttercup and Butch (no spoilers because come on, everyone knew that I was gonna make all of them get attached anyway, right?)? I initially wanted to make the Greens together first but as of the moment, I feel like the Reds have something deeper going on while the Greens just wanna fuck.
AHHHH.
Hahahah. Anyway guys, please do continue following and supporting me and also being patient with me because I have A-levels coming up this year and it's going to be hard to keep updating frequently. I aim to update once a month but it's going to be hard because March and April are intense months for me since I've got a stage production coming up as well. Ah, what a drag.
Anyway, thank you all for everything. I love you. Have a great day/night.
