Lindsey's Point of View-
I walked further into the room tossing my stuff onto the bed that was clear from my other stuff as I carried my charger to an outlet where I had plugged it in as I finally went through the texts, voicemails and missed calls that had been accumulated. The first thing on the list was to call my dad as I put it on speaker so I could talk with him as I got changed and he was asking me about when I was going to be home along with going to be in Florida so he could see me, which made me realize the fact of my dad's work and when he will get off shift and such making me going to Evan's may be hard since it may be late but I'm sure Evan won't mind, or would he? I didn't know Evan enough to know what he would mind or won't mind but he just said that he liked me so I would think he won't mind. I was so flustered with everything that it was hard to understand or know what he would be willing to accept. I didn't have to pack much since I never unpacked anything and only had to shove dirty clothes and the DVDs into my bag this time around so I checked out of the room by the television before I grabbed everything I had needed and walked out of my room texting Evan that I'll be waiting for him in the lobby since he and I would be riding together, which was decided not that long ago. I began to wonder how he got to the hotel if he hadn't drove himself, then questions as to where Kofi was and other things but as long as Evan found a way to ride with me that was all that I really cared about because I did want to spend more time with him now considering we both kind of admitted that we like each other. I sat in a chair that was placed in the lobby watching and nervously waiting. I was nervous about this because I haven't felt this whole like sensation towards a boy or guy since high school, nervous about how this is going to go because we are working together, what if we don't work out? It's more different now than what it was like in high school. I stood up when I saw Evan walk out from where the elevators were and I ran a hand through my hair before I hooked my thumbs on the edge of my pockets.
"Are you ready to go?" I asked curiously.
"Absolutely, whenever you are ready." He said as I nodded as I grabbed my bags leading him to where I had parked my car the night before. I unlocked the trunk door with the key before Evan had pulled the door open for me as I smirked as he reached for my bag and he picked it up putting it into the trunk for me as I stood aside watching as he took care of putting our bags into the trunk for me and I smiled.
"Thanks." I said as he smiled over at me.
"No problem." Evan said as he slammed the door shut as I walked down the side of the car for the driver's side as I unlocked the doors when I got there as he and I both climbed into the car next to me. I pulled my seatbelt over me to buckle it into the latch as Evan did the same thing and I put the keys into the ignition and started the car before I pulled out and begin to drive to the next location.
"Do you need to stop to get anything to drink or eat or anything? I may pull off between now and our destination to get gas." I said not sure how this whole travelling with someone went because the way Dustin, Cody and I travelled was just nature, we were so used to the other people that it was just natural.
"Nope, I'll be good until you pull off for gas." Evan answered as I nodded as I would randomly glance over to him as I kept my eyes on the road. "So…your relation with Dustin and Cody…we got time now for you to tell me this such long story." Evan said as I smirked and glanced to him.
"You really want to know that bad, don't you?"
"Well, I said that I liked you and would love to know you more and this is where it begins." He said as I saw him shift in his seat a tad in which I assumed it was for him to get more comfortable.
"I hope this doesn't scare you off…"
"It won't…" He said as I nodded as I let out a sigh before I started from the beginning where I told him about my parents, their divorce, my mom's alcoholic and abusive tendencies, to Dustin becoming my legal guardian and such which led me to where I am now. I realized how much of a sad story I was but hoped that where I am now was such more of a happy story than my past but you can't change the past but you could change your future. "Wow, I'm sorry…I had no idea…" Evan said.
"Don't be sorry…it was the luck of the draw and that…that was the past." I said shrugging as I pulled off an exit to go to the closest gas station.
"Yeah, as long as you don't let it control your life…have you spoken to your mom since?"
"No…I always wonder if things had changed since I had left but never went back to see nor has she tried to seek out where I am unlike my dad." I said shrugging.
"So, have you set a date to go meet your dad?"
"Sometime this upcoming week…"
"You are welcomed to crash at my place."
"Well, I won't be able to get to your place until late." I said as I wasn't trying to say no and I didn't want to say or count on his place.
"I'll be up."
"Evan you don't-"
"I don't but I would love for you to crash at my place, it'll be dumb for you to stay in a hotel room when I have a perfectly operating room for you to crash in free of charge?" Evan asked as I glanced over seeing him stare at me.
"You won't mind?" I asked as I pulled into the gas station and up to a pump as I shut the car off.
"I won't mind at all." Evan said with a smile.
"Just promise me you'll kick me out if you get tired of me." I said as he let out a chuckle.
"I doubt that would ever happen."
"I wouldn't be that doubtful Evan, I'm sure that I could get annoying." I said confidently.
"Well, I won't want to pass up time to spend with you." Evan said as I felt him and saw his hand grasping mine from the steering wheel as I was left to drive with the one hand which I was able to do since we were still driving down the freeway. As much as it was weird for Evan to be holding my hand, but I think last night we had calmed down because it was like a friend zone because all we did was eat pizza and watch superhero movies but yet there seems to be some kind of attraction there to each other. I know this was all moving fast but to hear that he liked me back and that there was this thing between us and that it could lead to more than friends out of this. We spent rest of the car ride talking in which we had learned a lot about each other which was kind of nice to learn about him other than that he wrestles and a comic book and superhero freak like myself. I had pulled into the arena parking the car as I turned the key in the ignition to turn the car completely off as I looked over at Evan who smiled over at me. "Thanks for the ride."
"Do you need a ride to the hotel?"
"Only if you are offering it." He said with a smile as I smiled and chuckled as I shook my head.
"Consider it an offer."
"Offer accepted." He said as I smirked and I pushed my door open as I climbed out of the car meeting him at the trunk where we grabbed the bags we had brought with us. "So, do you want to come have some lunch with me?" Evan asked as he slammed the trunk shut for me.
"I would love that, if you don't mind me stopping to drop these bags off." I said as he smirked.
"If you don't mind me doing the same thing." He said.
"Then I won't mind having some lunch, I'm starving." I said smiling and he smiled as well as we walked together as far as we could before we had to walk in separate directions to the locker rooms. I let myself into the women's locker room when I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket as I pulled it out seeing Dustin's name showing up as I answered it. "Hi Dustin, I'm in the locker room." I said.
"Just checking up on you, you didn't get back to me last night and such." Dustin said.
"Sorry, I kind of fell asleep in Evan's room."
"That's all you did, right?"
"Yes Dustin, that is all I did. We ate pizza and watched a movie then I fell asleep accidentally and he let me crash there. He was a complete gentleman because he took the chair." I said.
"Good. Do you got plans for lunch?"
"Yes, me and Evan are going to do lunch together. I was going to ask if we can go down to Florida on Wednesday?" I asked as I tossed my bag onto the ground as I pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Yeah, we can make the drive. Have you asked Cody to come with?" Dustin asked.
"No…not yet…haven't seen him." I said.
"You may want to ask him because he may want to come."
"I'll see, but I'm going to stay at Evan's for a night or maybe both nights."
"Should I be worried about you guys?"
"Dustin, I'm an adult and we are still getting to know each other." I said.
"Alright, I don't need to go beating anyone up."
"That's Cody's job remember?" I said as we both chuckled, "I got to go so I can go meet up with Evan to have lunch."
"Alright, I may swing by just to keep an eye on you two."
"We aren't even dating yet Dustin."
"Yet, it will happen. I called it."
"Hold on, you called it?" I asked then he hung up on me and I looked at my phone confused as I slid my phone back into my pocket heading to catering, I had only stopped to say hi to a few people or give out random hugs. I got to catering seeing Evan sitting at a table staring at his phone aimlessly as I saw him randomly glancing around as his one leg shook in a nervous type way as I slowly walked closer to where Evan was as he looked over in my direction seeing him smile. "Sorry it took so long…Dustin called." I said as he stood up nodding.
"That's fine, I'm sure that he was just concerned. I was going to make you a plate of food but wasn't sure how hungry you are or if you are allergic to anything." He said.
"Thanks for the consideration though, I don't have any allergies that I know of yet and afraid to find out of any." I said smirking.
"I think everybody would hate to find out they are allergic to something because I think finding out your allergy by trying the food and to experience those types of symptoms without knowing could be scary." Evan said as I nodded.
"Especially if it is one of those severe allergies where your mouth closes up and such, that has to be the scariest thing ever." I said as he nodded in agreement.
"You allergic to anything?"
"Nope…thankfully. Travelling the world with this job, you got to be open and have few allergies in order to make it."
"True that because I have tried and tasted a lot of things I thought and said I would never try and regret some of those decisions."
"I think everyone has that list of foods they don't want to try and I honestly could say that I had tried a few of those foods on mine myself."
"Glad to hear I wasn't the only one that had to try those types of food." I said as we approached that tables that held food, I reached out grabbing a paper plate walking along the table placing items onto the plate and Evan was behind me doing the same before I picked up a bottle of water to take with me to a table that I slid into a seat and Evan slid into the seat beside me.
"So, you aren't related at all the Rhodes family, what is your real last name then? All this time I thought you were a Runnels."
"Green. I consider Dustin, Cody and Dakota, Dustin's daughter, as my family since I never really had a family per say."
"You said you were going to drive down to Florida to see your dad right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Just curious as to why you wanted to drive down to see your dad?"
"I guess I feel that he deserves a second chance, I would hope people would give me a second chance and I think my dad tried his best to give me as much as he could and I think he was trying to be the best dad he could. I think he was the better parent out of him and my mom." I said shrugging.
"Your mom did sound like a horrible wreck, if your mom was to apologize, would you accept it?" Evan asked, that was some question and I didn't know how to answer it as I just sat there quietly as I thought about it chewing my food. "I know you accepted your dad's apology, but your dad didn't seem to have hurt you as much as your mom." Evan stated.
"My mom, I honestly don't know what I would do. There is a lot of hurt emotions there and pain, I don't think she will ever understand how much hurt she caused because I don't know if she has even sought out help or how she is doing. I kind of want to worry about her condition and state since I hadn't heard from her since Dustin took me but I kind of don't want to go back to see her because I'm happier without her." I said as Evan nodded.
"I completely understand, I am glad that you were able to reach out to Dustin and he was able to do what he did. You deserve a better life than that. If you ever have kids, do you think that you would tell them about her?"
"Well they will obviously see their grandfather if he was around but as for her, I wouldn't leave her alone with them and if I even get an inkling that she was drunk, I wouldn't even stay." I said as he nodded. "What about your parents? I'm sure there are things that annoyed you."
"Yeah, there were a few things. My parents sent me to private all boy school, that sucked and they kind of didn't like the whole wrestling thing." He said honestly as I nodded.
"So they were like the perfect parents?"
"I wouldn't say perfect per say, I think that every parent has their good points and their bad points but it taught me techniques and things that I would want to raise my kids with or not raise my kids with." Evan said shrugging as he took another bite of his sandwich as I nodded.
"I think that is one thing parents are good for…I had learned that I never want to be drunk like my mother, I will never leave my kids…I'm going to support them no matter what." I said as Evan smirked and nodded.
"Sounds good, so you…never been drunk?" Evan asked as I shook my head no.
"Nope, and planning to never be drunk…I don't see what is so appealing as to being drunk because you don't remember anything and I'm…I'm sort of afraid that I'll be a mean drunk like my mother and I don't want to hurt the ones I love like she did." I said.
"I mean, that sounds like a logical reason…"
"Yeah…I've had a beer like once in a blue moon or socially but not out to get drunk…do you drink?"
"Barely never…I'm the same way…" He said as I nodded and smirked.
"So, what about you? With your kids, how would you treat them?"
"I would want to support them and be there for them, I don't want to leave them and try to give them what I couldn't have but not spoil them either." Evan stated as I nodded knowing that we both would want the same for our kids.
"So if you were dating someone or married someone within the company and you guys had kids, what would you plan to do as to raising the kids because I know I've thought about the future of me having kids, not saying with you per say since we just met, but you know what I mean I hope?"
"Well, I never really thought about if it was with a woman in the company but if that was the case…I would hope to find a close relative or friend that would watch our child while we are on the road and we'll be home for a few days, that is if neither my wife or I want to give up our career but if either one of us wouldn't mind giving up the career they had then one of us could stay home with the child."
"Would you made sure to call them every day? I think that a child needs a lot of communication and love and attention from both parents, not just one." I said.
"True...but it will be something that my wife and I would figure out when it comes to that time." Evan said as I nodded.
"There you two are, I was hoping we can go practice." Kofi said walking up to our table as I looked up at him and nodded as I snagged one last bite of my sandwich before I stood up grabbing my untouched food and tossing it away as I followed Kofi out to the ring with Evan walking beside me.
