So I'm putting up this author's note to inform everyone who's a fan of my Monster Girl story of what I have planned for the reboot. You should all know that there are several big changes I'm making to Thomas and I'm going to list them all right here and now and explain why I'm making these changes.
The first is obviously his age. While it may have been funny at the time I think I've made a mistake at making Thomas 16 in this story. From a realistic perspective, do you all think that the United States Federal Government would really allow a teenager to be the host of over a half dozen Interspecies Students with one of them being literally twice his age? And to be responsible for their safety and well being as well as their ability to integrate into human society? Let's be honest, not gonna happen. So the first real change I'm making is that in the reboot Thomas will be 22 and this ties into the second and third change as well. Plus he'll no longer be a minor which won't make this story seem as creepy as it was when he was a teenager.
The second is that Thomas no longer lives with his family but rather he has a house of his own about a mile away from Hayes farm. He still goes there everyday to work as a farm hand but he doesn't live with his parents and sisters anymore. As a young bachelor he'll be able to handle a lot more personal responsibilities while living on his own. Having to cook and clean his own house, pay his own bills and mortgage and later take care of the girls who'll move in with him. The reason for this change is because while having his family involved was an interesting idea, it was done in a poor way. That being as his family didn't play any significant role in Thomas' interactions with the girls. This way they're still in the story from time to time but not just there y'know?
The third is that Thomas isn't a high school student anymore but a college student now. He's working for his Dad as a farm hand to pay for his classes because he's learning to become a mechanic which is what he wants to do with his life when he graduates. This way he has his future planned out and will be ready to marry one day and provide for a family. Beyond that, he's going to be a member of the Virginia Militia and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans just like his father Jim and his grandfather Bill are.
Thomas' personality will remain the same of course. He'll be calm, meek, kindhearted, caring and compassionate to others and he'll be very tolerant of others and accepting of their differences. Slow to anger but once he finally does snap he'll be ready to kick ass if he has to. I've already picked out some character flaws that go very well for him and the story and one of them is going to be very comedic do to a childhood trauma. And no, I'm not gonna spoil that part yet. You'll have to read to find out. But believe me, it'll be worth the wait.
Now the girls are going to remain mostly the same. Mostly. I may make a few very minor changes but as I said they're going to be so small and insignificant that you probably won't even notice. What I may also change is how each girl is introduced so that you're not reading the same exact story as before.
And lastly, the title will change so that you'll be able to tell the difference. Once I've updated "Ragnarok!" I'll upload the first chapter of the reboot titled "American Monster Girls" and then I'll upload one last author's note to this story to let you all know when it's up. And then I'll leave this old story up until like the first ten chapters of the reboot are up before I take this one down for good.
Please let me know what you all think of the changes and if you like them or not. If you have any ideas you think I should try as well please let me know, I'd love to read them.
And if anyone is a big fan of the Monster Girl Encyclopedia or MGE, I'm currently writing an adventure/love story involving that too. Please read and review "Ragnarok!" for me, the first three chapters are up.
Thank you all so much, you're all amazing.
This is Dragon1990 signing out :-)
