AN: I apologize for not updating this story. My only excuse is life doesn't give you the time you need to do everything with. I don't really have anything else to say in this author's note so you just get to jump right into the next chapter of A Ninja's Creed! (Hits update button.) Enjoy.
As it turned out Ninja does get that 50 caliber machine gun he wanted for Christmas. Where he is gonna put that thing, I don't know. All of the ninja get presents in fact.
Shadow Walker got himself a new Hidden Blade. He will always wonder who knew that he had given one of his blades to that kid Ezio.
The Demon of the Hidden Mist also got something that had to due with the kid he visited. He got a 'Naruto: The Land of Waves' DVD. Demon smiled, he had always wanted to see himself in action.
Sub-Zero kind of got a gag gift. It is an ice cream maker. Inside the machine, though, is a picture of him and Samantha playing Mortal Kombat together. He smiles and puts the picture right over his heart.
When Shadow tears open his gift he is surprised to see a small black square. When he presses a button on the side of the device, it lights up. The words Kindle Fire HD, on the front. As soon as the tablet finishes loading he is greeted by a very familiar game. 'Shadow Fight 2'.
Virtua Fighter also gets a video game system. A Playsation 4 with the 'Virtua Fighter' collection. All the games 1-4.
Ranger is given a book collection. The entire 'Ranger's Apprentice' series in one book.
Tracker rips open the wrapping paper to find... more paper. He is aghast, but on closer examination he is quite happy. The paper is actually paper for writing explosive tags on. This stash will keep him going for at least a few months.
Hi-tech is given a new computer system while Phantom, Party Dude, and Night Watchman all get new upgrades for their weapons. Phantom's two katana can now vibrate, being able to move so fast they can cut through basically anything. Night Watchman's chain and his pair of sie are given a heat function. Party Dude gets nunchucks that shoot small knockout darts.
Soon it is time for this merry group of ninja to be dismissed from this crazy adventure. While Ninja enjoyed having this group of guys helping him, all good things must come to an end.
Shadow Walker, Sub-Zero, Shadow, Virtua Fighter, Tracker, Ranger, and the Demon of the Hidden Mist all assemble in front of Ninja in an auditorium. They stand shoulder to shoulder, straight as a ruler.
Ninja stands in front of the group of ninja. He is flanked on each side by two of his commanders. Phantom and Night Watchman on the right with Party Dude and Hi-tech on his left.
The seats of the auditorium are packed with ninjas. White noise fills the air. Every ninja that isn't out on a mission is here. Swat Ninja sits in the very front row, middle seat.
There is a reason the auditorium is packed. This isn't just some "good job on your mission" thing. Usually the ninja would meet behind closed doors in Ninja's office and he would hand them their money for the job. This is different. This is an award ceremony.
Ninja steps toward the audience. It has an immediate effect and the ninja grow quite on a dime. The warrior speaks. His voice booms throughout the auditorium with no need for amplification. "Today we are gathered here to award these seven men for bringing their lost brother in arms home and for going through some crazy crap to do it."
He starts with Shadow Walker. "For most of these guys the only reason they did this job was for the money. For you though, it was personal. Your brother in arms was also your relative. But that's not the reason you are getting awarded. For going above and beyond the call of duty. For helping two guys destroy a small army of armored, super powered soldiers. I award to you the silver symbol!" The warrior slips a medal handed to him by Phantom over the Assassin's head. The medal has a metal, solid silver ninja army symbol on the end. The auditorium shakes with applause.
After the applause subsidies Ninja moves to Sub-Zero. "For keeping cool even when we were about to get crushed by an angry elemental. I give to you the bronze symbol!" The warrior slips a medal over the ice ninja's head. Like Shadow Walker's medal it has the ninja army symbol at the end. The only difference is that is is bronze and not silver.
After the applause quits again Ninja moves to Shadow. "For keeping your head when the rest of us didn't. I give to you the bronze symbol!" The medal is slipped over the Japanese shadow's head.
The applause slows. Ninja steps in front of Virtua Fighter. "For saving our butts when we were unable to save our own. I give to you the bronze symbol!" Virtua Fighter bows his head in order for the warrior to put the medal on.
As the applause quiets down Ninja moves to Tracker. "For showing us the true trail even when we wouldn't listen. I give to you the bronze symbol!" Tracker has to squat in order for the young warrior to put on his medal.
The applause dies down. Ninja stands in front of Ranger. "For making responsible choices and showing us the path that didn't involve us getting blown up by missiles. I give to you the bronze symbol!" The warrior slides the medal over the youngest ninja's head.
As the applause finishes once again Ninja walks in front of the Demon of the Hidden Mist. "You did not have to come on this mission, but you did anyway. You were asked not ordered, but you still went. When you were offered thousands of dollars to betray me, you didn't. For having integrity, for having courage, for mostly taking out an elemental single handedly. I bestow upon you not only our greatest honor, but also the greatest promotion you can gain. I bestow upon you, the Demon of the Hidden Mist, the gold symbol and a promotion to B rank missions!" If the applause had rocked the auditorium before, now it is a freaking earthquake.
Soon the crowd broke up. No more promotions or ceremony led to a quick dispersal. Later that evening, the Demon of the Hidden Mist gets his first B ranked assignment.
Ninja and Demon pour over a holographic map of a huge manor outside the city. The warrior points to a point on the map on the manor. "You will enter here." He says. Ninja's finger traces a path to the woods. "We will drop you off here and you will follow this path." The Jonin nods. "We are getting paid only to rescue this time, so no funny business. Just get in and get out with the target. Hit the woods and get to the extraction point." The Demon of the Hidden Mist nods.
"Yes sir "
Soon the Demon of the Hidden Mist finds himself streaking across a field. He runs pointed forward like an arrow with his arms by his side. His giant sword does not hinder him one bit. The Jonin is like a blur, there one second and gone the next.
He arrives at a side door without any guards. Demon opens up the door soundlessly and strides through the room, as quiet as a mouse. He is searching for a hidden door that will lead him to his quarry.
The Demon of the Hidden Mist looks around, on the alert for guards and the elusive hidden door. He searches throughout the house, but finds nothing. The Jonin returns to the living room. He closes his eyes, focusing his mind. He feels a whiff of air. He follows the breath of air to a book shelf. He shoves the piece of furniture over, exposing a hidden door. He opens the door and heads into the darkness.
The Demon of the Hidden Mist wanders the hallway, wondering why, first, there is a hidden passage in a major and secondly, why there is a prisoner in said manor. He sees light at the end of the tunnel. Demon enters the light and his questions are answered.
Below the house is a Foot compound. There are Foot Ninja at computers, training, and patrolling the area. To the left are giant generators with electricity sparking on their tops. Directly across from Demon is a doorway where he is guessing leads to the cell block. Banners with the Foot Clan symbol cover the entire compound.
The Demon of the Hidden Mist gets ready to sneak across the vast compound when a giant eye with tentacles flies past. The Jonin freezes until the strange thing passes. He steals down some stairs to his right like a thief in the night.
He steals across the room from one hiding place to another. A stack of crates, a computer terminal, under a cardboard box, and many others. Soon he makes it to the other side, to the door that leads to the cell block.
The Demon of the Hidden Mist stealthily runs into the cell block. Shadows cover the area. He looks through each cell, watching for the ninja that had gotten caught on his last mission.
Suddenly a shape forms from the shadows. It has the form of a man, but has two heads and giant scythes on the end of each hand. A red orb resides in the beings chest.
With a shriek the shadow charges, swinging it's scythes at Demon. The Jonin dodges the attack while unsheathing his huge sword. He slices through one of the shadow's arms to none effect. The Demon of the Hidden Mist blocks another slice from a scythe and tries to kick the beings head, to no avail.
He ducks under another slice and palms the shadow in the chest. Demon hits the orb which knocks the being into the bars of a cell. Two hands snake out from the cell and grabs the blades, keeping the shadow from attacking the Jonin. "Quick! Hit the orb!" A feminine voice cries. The Demon of the Hidden Mist slices the orb cutting it and the shadow neatly in half.
Demon looks inside the cell. There is a girl with her face covered with strips of cloth. On her head she wears some weird hat that covered her shaggy hair. She has bandages wrapped around her hands and a grey suit that has a strange symbol on it.
The Jonin looks at a picture from his pocket. That's his quarry alright. He slices the bars, cutting open a hole for the girl to get through. She climbs out.
She extends her hand. "Sheik." Demon shakes it.
"The Demon of the Hidden Mist." Sheik cocks her eyebrow.
"Demon, huh? I thought Ninja would send someone like Phantom to come get me."
"Well you got me. So what the h### was that thing?"
"A Shaydas. It's a monsters from the world I just came from. Now come on. You've probably triggered an alarm by freeing me and killing that Shaydas."
They run out of the cell block to find out that Demon did, in fact, trigger an alarm. Ninja are rushing towards them. The Jonin and Sheik look at each other, shrug, and jump into the fray.
They run through the group, Demon slashing and cutting and Sheik taking out guys barehanded. The Jonin ducks under the scythe part of a kurisigama and brings his sword up to relieve the ninja's shoulders of his head. While he is running through, killing enemies, Sheik is working on something in her hands. She is using kicks to take out her enemies.
Soon they reach the top of the stairs. Sheik stops momentarily to pull the pin on the object in her hand, throw it at the generators, and flip off the entire compound. They run up the through the tunnel, Sheik urging Demon to go faster. "What the h### did you throw?" He asks.
"A grenade."
"A grenade!? Oh s###!" That spurred the Jonin to run faster. They ran as fast as they could. As soon as the duo made it outside the manor explodes. The explosion knocks the two ninja on their backs. Demon looks at Sheik.
"When I get back, me and Ninja are going to have a looong talk."
