So yeah it has been a while since my last update, sorry! But uh here's the next chapter.
Chapter 21: Christmas
It had been three months since Elliot and Olivia had told Cragen about their relationship, and this were going well. They had told Fin and Munch about everything two weeks after they had told Cragen, when Olivia was put on restricted duty. She was only allowed to interview victims and do paper work, and nothing else. This drove Olivia crazy, she wanted to be out in the field chasing down perps, but she knew that this was best for her and her baby, and she was thankful that she was still allowed to work with the victims. Even though they weren't in the field together anymore Elliot and Olivia continues to work well together, and no one suspected that they were in a relationship.
It was now Christmas morning and Elliot and Olivia had woken up early to make breakfast for the kids, because they knew that they wouldn't wait long before wanting to open presents. They moved around the kitchen making cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, and bacon, "I love this." Elliot said as he watched Olivia whisk the eggs.
Olivia turned to face Elliot and smiled, "Me too," she replied.
"How long do you think before they wake up?" Elliot asked as he flipped the bacon.
"I say Aiden wakes up in fifteen minutes, which in turn will wake Addison up." Olivia said as she glanced at the clock that read 5:45.
Elliot smiled and nodded as they both went back to cooking in a comfortable silence, but soon enough they could hear the pitter patter of little feet climbing down the stairs. Olivia glanced at the clock that read 6:02 and smiled, "Right on schedule."
Elliot smiled back at her a place a gentle kiss on her lips, "You know that boy well," Elliot said as he moved to the bottom of the stairs to greet Aiden. "Merry Christmas Aiden!" Elliot said as the boy jumped from the last two steps into Elliot's arms.
"Did Santa come dad?" Aiden asked excitedly as he craned his neck to try and see the tree in the next room.
"I don't know lets go see." Elliot said as he carried Aiden into the living room, and smiled as the boy squealed and wriggled with delight.
"He did come!" Aiden exclaimed as he got down from Elliot's arms. "He came daddy, I was a good boy!" Aiden said as he ran around to room looking at all the gifts under the tree.
"It looks like you were a very good boy." Elliot said as he watched Aiden run around the room.
"Can I open them daddy?" Aiden asked as he picked out a present that had his name on it.
"Not quite yet buddy, your sister has to get up and then we have to eat breakfast and then I think we may be able to open some presents. How does that sound?" Elliot asked as he picked Aiden back up.
"Sounds like it's gonna take a long time," Aiden wind as Elliot carried him into the kitchen, where Olivia was just taking the cinnamon rolls out of the oven. "Merry Chistmas mommy!" Aiden said happily when he saw his mother.
"Merry Christmas little man," Olivia said as she kissed Aiden on the cheek. "How did you sleep?"
"Good, and guess what, Santa came!" He shared with his mother.
Olivia smiled "He did? That's because you have been such a good boy! Did he bring presents for everyone one?" Olivia asked as she set the table.
"I fink so, there were some with my name, and some with Addison on them, and then there were some other ones, but I don't know the names." Aiden said looking a bit perplexed by whose presents were under the tree.
Elliot and Olivia looked at each other knowing that the gifts were for each other, "Do you remember what letters the names started with?"
"Hmmmm," Aiden said, thinking hard to remember, which was quite hard because he had been focused on finding his own presents. "I fink maybe one had a O and the oder one had a E."
"I think those are for me and mommy," Elliot said looking down at the child in his lap.
"Ohh," He said, "What about my baby broder?
Olivia chuckled at Aiden's question, he had no idea if the baby was a boy or a girl he just assumed he was getting a brother, since he already had a sister. In fact Elliot didn't even know what they were having, he had been called in on a case that went out of town the day of Olivia's appointment. They had both been upset when they learned that he would be unable to attend then appointment, and insisted Olivia call him as soon as she was done. Which she did, but the baby had been moving too much, and they couldn't get a good look to confirm the gender. So when she called him after the appointment she told him that the baby was moving too much, and they couldn't tell the gender. Elliot had been disappointed that they couldn't tell, but he knew that there would be other chances to find out, and it wouldn't be a big deal if they had to wait until the little guy was born to find out the gender.
"I don't think they baby got any presents bud." Olivia replied.
"Because he was bad?" Aiden asked.
"No, he's been good, but he can't really use any presents right now, so Santa saved them for next Christmas." Olivia explained.
"Ohhh," Aiden said like it all made sense.
"Well how about you help daddy put the food on the table, and I will go get your sister." Olivia said, and then headed up stairs.
Olivia got to Addison's room, slowly opened the door, and walked over to the crib where her two year old daughter slept. Olivia smiled, Addison looked so peaceful when she slept and she hated to wake her, but she knew that Aiden wouldn't last long. Olivia began to gently rub Addison's back, until she began to stir. "Addie baby, you waking up?" She asked as the toddler's eyes began to flutter open, until finally they stayed open.
"Mornin momma." She said as she stood up in her crib.
"Good morning my sweet girl, do you remember what today is?" Olivia asked her as she lifted her from the crib.
"Cismas!" She exclaimed as Olivia laid her one her changing table.
"That's right it Christmas, and do you remember who came a brought presents last night?" Olivia asked as she changed Addison's diaper.
"Sany Caus!" Addison said with much enthusiasm.
"Yes he did, he brought you and your brother lots of presents, so you must have been a very good girl." Olivia smiled as she picked Addison up off the changing table, and walked out of the room.
"Merry Christmas ladybug." Elliot greeted as Olivia walked into the kitchen with Addison on her hip.
"Merry Cismas daddy!" Addison exclaimed as she reached out for Elliot. Elliot took the girl from Olivia's arms and kissed her on the head. "Daddy?"
"What pumpkin?" Elliot asked as he grabbed the last plate of food, and made his way to the table where Aiden and Olivia were sitting.
"Open pesents now?" Addison asked as innocently as she possibly could as she gave Elliot the biggest puppy dog eyes he had ever seen.
Elliot almost gave in, for just a second he was going to fall for this little girl's innocent charm, "Not yet sweetie, we have to eat breakfast first."
"Otay." Addison said, sounding a bit defeated.
Olivia watched the interaction between Elliot and Addison, and smiled to herself, she was only two but she knew how to get Elliot to do what she wanted. This made Olivia happier than she had ever been because she had found someone who loves her children as much as she did, and she knew that he would do anything for them.
"I love you." Olivia said as Elliot took his seat at the table.
"I love you too Liv," Elliot replied as he leaned over and placed a kiss on her lips.
Addison and Aiden scarfed their food down as fast as they could, knowing that there were presents waiting to be opened in the next room. Elliot and Olivia both knew that the children were eager to open their gifts, so they too made sure that all their food was gone in a timely manner. "Okay, so now we have to clean up the table, do the dishes, and then I think that you guys should get dressed, and then we should clean the rest of the house," Elliot suggested with a smile on his face.
"Daaaad!" Aiden whined, though he knew his dad was joking.
"What?" Elliot asked.
"Da pesents daddy!" Addison exclaimed.
"Oh you guys want to open the presents?" Elliot asked like the thought hadn't even crossed his mind.
"Yay!" They both shouted as the hopped down from their chairs.
"Hey, both of you go wash your hands before we opened the presents." Olivia called after the kids as her and Elliot quick cleared the table.
After some hand washing and table clearing the family all met up in the living room for present opening. Addison squealed as when she unwrapped her new baby doll. And Aiden jumped up and down with excitement when he opened his new Hot Wheels track. Meanwhile Elliot and Olivia were cuddled up on the couch watching the excitement of the children. "They're so happy." Elliot said as he watched Addison and Aiden tear into their gifts.
"Yeah they really are," Olivia said with a smile on her face. She then rose from the couch and grabbed the present from under the tree with Elliot's name on it. "Here this is for you," She said as she sat back down on the couch.
Elliot took the small square package and smiled at his girlfriend. "I wonder what this could be?" Elliot asked as he began to tear into the paper. When he had removed the paper he held two picture frames, the one he was looking at read 'Daddy's Little Man' and had a black and white ultrasound picture in it. Elliot looked up at Olivia with a big smile on his face "You said they couldn't tell, that the baby was moving too much."
"Yeah well my doctor called last week and said she had a last minute cancellation on the 23rd if I wanted to come in again and see if we could determine a gender, and I didn't want you take off for a 10 minute appointment that could tell us nothing, and I hadn't gotten you a Christmas gift yet anyway, and I thought what else could be better." Olivia explained as Elliot stared at the picture.
"Liv, I don't mind taking off, even if it is for a ten minute appointment," Elliot said as he moved the first picture frame aside to look at the second one. This one was a frame exactly the same as the first one except it was pink and had the words 'Daddy's Princess' on it, and it too had a black and white ultrasound picture in it. "I thought you said they could tell, why are their two frames, which one is it?" Elliot asked a bit confused.
Olivia smiled bigger than she ever had before, "Both," she said smiling at Elliot.
"Both…like twins?" Elliot asked a bit stunned.
"Mmmhm," Olivia said with a nod. "That's why they couldn't tell at the first appointment, they kept moving in front of each other."
"Olivia Benson, this is amazing, we're having a little boy…and a little girl?" Elliot asked still a little stunned by the news.
"We are." Olivia confirmed.
"I love you so much!" Elliot exclaimed as he placed a kiss on Olivia's lips.
Olivia smiled against Elliot's lips as she kissed him back. "I love you too, El." Olivia said when they finally pulled apart.
"Okay well now it's my turn to give you your gift." Elliot said as he pulled Olivia to her feet. "Olivia Benson, I love you very much, and I think that I have loved you since the moment I saw you walk into the squad room. Then when you let me into your life, and the lives of these two amazing children," Elliot said as he looked at Addison and Aiden playing happily with their new gifts. "I knew that you were the one for me, I just wanted to make sure that you felt the same way, and then you told me you were pregnant, and that made me that happiest man alive. Finally today when you told me that we were having two babies, in knew there was only one thing in the world that could make me happier." Elliot said as he bent down to one knee. "Olivia will you marry me?" Elliot asked as he opened a small black box to reveal a beautiful diamond ring.
"Elliot," Olivia gasped as tears began to form in her eyes. "Yes, of course!" She said as Elliot placed the ring on her finger. He then stood and wrapped his arms around Olivia and kissed her with more passion than ever before.
They both soaked in the happiness until Olivia felt a tug on her pants leg. "Mommy whatcha doin'?" Aiden asked as he looked up at his mother. "And why you crying?" He asked when he saw the tears in his mother's eyes.
"I'm crying because I'm very happy, you want to know why?" She asked as she and Elliot sat down on the couch.
"Yeah," Aiden nodded.
"Because mommy and Elliot are going to get married." Olivia said as she took Elliot's hand.
"Really?" Aiden asked. "Yay! Elliot's gonna be our daddy for real!" Aiden cheered as he leaped around the living room.
Elliot and Olivia smiled at each other, and curled back up on the couch, Olivia was laying on Elliot's chest and he had his arms wrapped around her and resting on her baby bump. They sat there happy as could be as they watched their children play with their new toys, wishing that this would never end. "This was the best Christmas ever." Elliot whispered to Olivia as he kissed the top of her head.
"Yeah it really was, and just wait until we tell the guys tomorrow at dinner." Olivia said with a chuckle.
