Thank you for the reviews. I will try to update a bit more frequently between flights
Haruhi pressed the small green phone shaped button and held it to her ear. She heard the sounds of the door closing in the distance letting her no she was alone now.
"Hey Hikaru"Haruhi placed her school bag onto the small makeup table next to her and took a seat. She suddenly didn't feel like walking around anymore, let alone walking all the way home and thinking. She didn't want to think right now.
"Hey Haruhi, did you miss me?"
Haruhi looked over at herself in the mirror, the small bags under her eyes didn't go unnoticed and the slightly sad look in her eyes that hadn't been there that morning was now sitting at the surface.
"Actually yeah I did, do you mind giving me a ride home?"Haruhi had never asked for any of the hosts to ever give her a ride home, heck she never asked them for anything. But right now she didn't want to be alone, but she didn't want to be with people either. It was this weird limbo feeling in her chest that left her feeling empty.
"Really? Yeah that's perfect I'm actually still at the school. See you out front in 10"
Haruhi could practically hear the excitement in Hikarus voice when he hung up. Was Kaoru with him? Most likely not. It's hard to imagine that Hikaru would call her first, he would get nervous and stare at his phone too long, than Kaoru would just call instead after getting tired of waiting. Then again things seemed to be always changing with those 2 now.
'At least I don't have to be alone for a bit, or maybe it'd be better that I just reflect on my thoughts'Haruhi thought as she found herself wandering out of the club room now. Her book bag tapping lightly against her thigh as she continued down the hallway. Down the long flight of stairs, past the library and into the central hall. She found herself heading towards the front doors.
"Haruhi?"Haruhi turned at the sound of a familiar voice to see Tamaki sitting alone holding a few papers in his hand on the stair case. How had she not noticed him? She would have had to literally walk right past him to be standing where she was now.
"Tamaki senpai, didn't you go home?"Haruhi looked down at the simply watch on her hand. She could have sworn he had seen her off earlier.
Tamaki stood and brushed off his slacks while collecting his papers together into a small folder
"My father asked me to stop by and pick up this papers for him so I had to come back, I thought you were going to walk home? It's getting dark"Tamaki had always kept an air of lightness when talking to Haruhi, his voice was always gentle and he never seen to say anything he didn't genuinely mean. So when his eyes fell on the dark sky he was curious why Haruhi hadn't gone home already, she had always been so observant.
"I'm got side tracked but I'll be heading home now with Hikaru"Haruhi gestured to the door where Hikaru was mostly like on the other side of. He would be leaning against the limo door waiting for her.
"I see, well then I'll be seeing you tomorrow"Tamaki smiled happily, he was still hurt but not enough to pick at Haruhis choice. Part of him always knew she wouldn't pick him, they were too different.
"Bye senpai"Haruhi gave a small wave as she turned around but suddenly stopped when she felt Tamakis hand grab her shoulder. She turned her head to see a look of determination in his eyes.
"Haruhi did you by chance… run into Kyoya before he left?"Tamaki could see the small look of surprise cover Haruhis face. How did he know? Surely Kyoya wouldn't have stopped to exchange such formalities with Tamaki
"Yeah I ran into him, but how did you know that?"Haruhi asked now a bit curious about why Tamaki would assume something like that. It's not as if he was even there.
"Well Haruhi you see…
-Tamakis explanation in a dramatic flash back-
There Tamaki stood in the central room that led to the exit, he had just received word from his father to return to the school and get some documents for him. It's not like Tamaki didn't like running errands for his father, in fact he greatly enjoyed them. It seemed like such a family thing to do.
"I need the ones from the treasury department on last month's sports equipment"Tamaki looked down at his phone reading over the message from his father once again to make sure he had gotten it right
Step step step step
"Hm?"Tamaki looked up when he heard the sound of someone obviously rushing down the long staircase that connected to the library. He was met with a nice surprise when he realized it was Kyoya
"Kyoya! My friend are you leaving now? How about we go ho-"Tamaki began but suddenly stopped when Kyoya walked right past him not even bothering to look up
"Uh…Kyoya did you hear me?"Tamaki looked over his shoulder and saw Kyoya continuing to leave, obviously not in the mood to talk.
-End—
"And that's what happened"Tamaki finished his explanation that left Haruhi just feeling exhausted now
"Tamaki senpai no offence, but whatever's wrong with Kyoya, I don't want to be involved in it"Haruhi bluntly said as Tamaki was taken aback by her statement
"But Haruhi how can you say that? He's our friend!"Tamaki had never known Haruhi to be that cruel, sure she had her mean moments but that was just down right mean.
"Look Tamaki senpai, Kyoya hadn't spoken normally to me since he found out about Hikaru, Kaoru and I, I tried to talk to him today and he wasn't having it. So if anyone is ending our friendship here it's him. And I couldn't care less about Kyoya and his whining that I picked someone else over him! Even if he never really let me explain and even if I don't even know if I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE! OKAY!"Haruhi didn't realize she was yelling until she finally stopped and looked at Tamakis face. His wide eyes showing the blue purple haze that had formed from her words. And the sound of rain hitting the window outside that had been drowned out by her voice.
"Haruhi.. with all due respect"
"I don't think I've ever thought you were stupid before, until this moment. Why would you pick someone you're not sure you love? Was it convince? Was it that you loved them in that moment? Why would YOU PICK SOMEONE IF YOU'RE NOT EVEN SURE!?"Tamaki had never raised his voice to her before. An he most likely never would again. But at his moment Haruhi needed to hear it form someone
"I.."
"No Haruhi you listen to me! If you feel half as bad as it looks like you do, then maybe you should rethink what you did! You can't change the past, but you can change the future! Why would you be with someone you don't love! I'm not saying to pick me! I'm not saying to leave Hikaru and Kaoru, I'm saying you should at least really think about what you want!"Tamaki had his hands gripped Haruhis shoulders now, forcing her to listen to him
"I can't senpai! You don't understand!"Haruhi placed her hands against his chest in an effort to push him away
"Why? Why can't you Haruhi? The only commitment is for you to make yourself happy!"
"It's too late senpai!"
"Why!"
"Because I slept with Kaoru!"
You know that silence that happens when you say something, you really shouldn't have said.
That was the silence now. Tamaki had dropped his arms away from her in shock.
He has his assumptions
But knowing it for a fact was different
Haruhi didn't waste a moment to turn away from him, she didn't feel like crying like the first time she hurt someone, she just felt like making herself feel better now. So when she opened the front doors to see Hikaru waiting with an umbrella in his hand and a smile on his face, she couldn't help but feel like she needed him.
"What took so long?"Hikaru opened the umbrella and through his arm around her shoulder. He didn't really need the umbrella but he had seen couples in movies do it all the time. So he at least wanted to give it a try with Haruhi. After all, they were technically a couple.
"I ran into Tamaki"That was all Haruhi wanted to say about it as Hikaru and her slipped into the back seat of the limo. The umbrella Hikaru carried laid on the soft red carpet as Hikaru pulled her to sit close. He hadn't seen her since class and he had missed her dearly.
"Hey Hikaru"Haruhi looked down at her hands as she felt Hikaru pulling her closer to him
"Yeah?"
"Let's go to my place"
