I am so sorry that it's been so long, but I've been really busy and I've had a huge writer's block, and A LOT of things happens in this chapter so I wanted to sit down and really focus on writing this. But I'm pretty sure that you're not interested sooo, on with the story.

I don't own Merlin.

Previously:

"Not so brave now are you Emrys?" James looked pleased as he started to pick out knife after knife and put it next to Merlin.

"Go to hell!"

"Oh no, you're the one who's going to hell."

"I've been to Camelot a couple of times," James commented casually as he let his fingers sweep over the sharp tools now perfectly laid out next to Merlin's immobilised form.

"That's how I know who you really are, you're quite the celebrity, everyone knows about king Arthur's manservant and their "unique" friendship," he continued as he picked out a small knife and started twirling it around. "The servant and the king who became friends against all odds they said with awe in their voices. Some people could even go so far to call you brothers" He smiled down at the warlock.

"But we both know that at least Arthur doesn't feel that way about you at least not now, not after he found out the truth about you. Not after he found out your dirty little secret. But I can see that look in your eyes whenever I mention him, that is the look of someone who still cares. Even after all that he has done to you, you still care about him." He made a pause as if he expected some sort of reaction, but the warlock just looked back at him, neither denying nor confirming his words." But apparently that was confirmation enough for James as he continued.

"Stupid if you ask me, he obviously hates you, otherwise you wouldn't be here at all. If he or anyone really, still cared about you, then someone would try to rescue you and…"

Suddenly the door burst open and both men turned (or tried to in Merlin's case) towards the guard who stumbled in looking flustered and downright terrified.

"M-my lord…" he started

"WHAT?!"

"We're under attack, there is a d-dragon."

"What?!" James repeated and turned to look at Merlin's now smug looking face.

"I sorry, what were you saying?" he asked mockingly.

James growled and stalked towards the door, "I'll be back for you" he said and closed the door behind him with a loud bang.

Merlin sighed and let his head fall back on the stone table. So Kilgarrah was trying to rescue him, about time now that he thought about it. He hadn't seen the dragon for a long time, and he would have noticed that he wasn't in Camelot by now. And since his magic (including his dragon lord powers) were still bound the dragon wouldn't be able to sense or "call" him then he must have realised that something was wrong. Though he was glad that the dragon was trying to save him he really didn't understand how that was going to happen. He was underground and if the dragon tried to destroy the castle to get to him then he would probably be crushed in the process. Oh well it wasn't as he could do anything about his situation at the moment anyway. He wasn't going anywhere without help from someone else. Just as that thought crossed his mind the door bust open and Merlin strained his neck to see who it was, only to yell in surprise when he recognized the figure standing in the doorway.

"Freya?!"

Freya's POV:

When Freya had made it past the still confused guards on the ground she realised that it wouldn't be very hard to get into the castle. There were people running around in panic everywhere and a lot of the buildings where on fire and about to collapse. She didn't linger long but took of running towards a passage that seemed to lead down. Where would you put a powerful warlock if not in the safest cell they had, which probably was underground. When she reached the bottom of the stairs she heard distant voices coming from the other end of the passage.

"How did it know where he was?! His magic is restrained and it would be impossible for it to feel it." She hold back a gasp as she recognized the voice, it was the man who bought Merlin, she was sure of it. She had nowhere to hide and they where coming straight towards her. There was only one thing she could do, keep her head down and walk past them as if nothing was wrong, she took a deep breath to calm herself down and started walking in a fast pace, they where under attack after all, it was only expected to be at least a bit panicked. But apparently the man was to caught up with yelling himself hoarse over how they were going to defeat a dragon to notice her as she walked past him.

As soon as he was out of sight she breathed out and started running down the corridor and past rows of cells until she reached a big wooden door with two guards standing guard outside. Before they had a chance to even open their mouths her eyes glowed gold and the guards flew backwards hitting the wall with a clang and slumped unconscious to the ground. She wasted no time to open the door and stopped at the sound of Merlin's shocked voice

"Freya?"

She breathed a sigh of relief he was okay, or at lease kind of okay. He was tied to a stone table with magic-blocking shackles after all.

"Merlin, thank god you're okay," she said rushing to his side and started examining his shackles.

"Freya what are you doing here, it's dangerous, you have to get out of here."

Freya snorted in answer, "Yeah of course I'll just leave you here to get tortured, shall I,"

"Unspanne þás mægþ," she said as she focused on the shackles.

"Freya it's no use, they are enchanted," Merlin said gently when nothing happened.

The brunette frowned in response, "Then we'll just have to use more force," she said and grabbed on of the many swords in the room, and before Merlin had a chance to say anything in the matter she brought it down on the chains. But the sword only harmlessly bounced of the chain leaving no mark at all on the metal.

"Freya please you can't open these without the key, and I'm done for anyway," Merlin smiled sadly at her.

"What do you mean, you're done for, Merlin you are going to be fine," she looked confused.

"Freya look at my arms."

And she did, only to blink in surprise at what she saw, his usually blue veins where golden almost glowing on his pale skin. "What is happening?" she asked almost terrified of the answer.

"Freya, I don't have magic, I am magic, and when it's restrained like this, when I can't use it, I have an hour at the most left if I don't release some of it soon."

"B-but then we just have to get these of you," she said fighting to hold back the tears threatening to fall.

"You can't, the only person who can release me is James, he has the key."

"No.. n-no please… I'll I'll find him, I'll…" tears where streaming down her face by now but there was nothing she could do to stop them now. She had made it this far only to be forced to leave him behind, because some damn enchanted chains.

"Freya please there is nothing you can do, you can't fight an entire army…" Merlin reached out to touch her face as much as the chain allowed. She leant into his touch but couldn't bring herself to answer him. She was sobbing by now and bent down to rest her head against his chest desperately clutching his shirt in her hands.

"Freya you have to go, James will realise what's happening and he'll come back. You have to go before it's to late." Merlin managed to whisper as he tried to comfort her.

"No, I have to try," she said looking up.

"No, it's suicide Freya you have to get out of here."

"I'm afraid it's a bit to late for that," came a familiar man voice from the dooropening.

Freya quickly got to her feet and stared at the man in the doorway.

"Hello lovebirds" James said with a smug look on his face.

"I have to say that I wasn't expecting this…" he started as he walked closed to Freya and gave the two magicians a clear view of the impressive amount to guards standing just outside the door ready to intervene if Freya made a move towards their commander. "Okay so you're a dragon lord and the dragon tries to rescue you. But the thing is that he didn't exactly make any move towards the cells, he was actually at the other part of the castle and doing all kinds of things. But nothing that indicated that he was trying to reach you. So who was doing the actual rescue part, I asked myself and realised that a very unfamiliar serving girl had walked past me earlier just after the attack started. Now what would a pretty girl like that be doing in a place like this?"

"Well we all know the answer to that, don't we" he finished and grinned at the sorcerers.

"James just leave her alone, please. You have me, you don't need her," Merlin begged him.

"No I suppose you're right, I don't need her," he said and signalled the guards to move in.

"So I'll just kill her a save a lot of trouble," he flashed Merlin a happy smile.

"NO!" Merlin shouted at the same second that Freya lifted her hand and sent a spell towards the men, flinging three of the guards into the wall behind them.

James looked at her with wide eyes, "Oh I should have known, of course you're a sorcerer you're Emrys little lady friend after all."

"Give me the key," was Freya's furious answer.

"Oh you mean this key" James replied and held up a golden small key.

Freya's immediate response was to throw another spell at the man, only for it to disintegrate against a shield before it reached him.

"Now, that wasn't very nice was it?" he said still smiling and let his hands be engulfed with dark emerald flames and hurled it towards them. Freya quickly threw up a shield protecting them both. The fire slipped past them and hit the wall behind them leaving a dark mark. She had to win this battle, she had to do it for Merlin's sake. Freya prepared herself for the next attack and James was quick to send another shot of flames towards her. But instead of letting the flames hit her shield she caught them, fighting to keep a straight face as the flames were hot to the touch and filled with dark magic. She held the flames in her hands and strengthened them with her own magic before sending them back at the sorcerer. James was quick to overcome his surprise and protected himself but didn't bother to save his men as they were hit and screamed as they burned to death. Freya pushed past her exhaustion and thrust out her hand "Ástríce!" James made a move to strengthen his shield but before he had a chance to the spell hit him and he flew backwards taking the last of his men with him and fell to the ground and didn't get up.

The second the spell slipped past her lips Freya fell to the ground in exhaustion and lay there panting on the ground, only returning to reality when Merlin cried out her name in fear of what might have happened to her.

"I'm alright, just a bit tired," she answered and slowly got up and walked over to the fallen sorcerer, quickly grabbing the key and walking back to Merlin.

"You are amazing you know that right," he said as she held up the key and moved towards the cuffs binding his arms to the table.

She only smiled tiredly at him, "Are you ready?" she asked.

Merlin took a deep breath, "Yes," he answered and a quiet Click was heard as she unlocked the first cuff.

I'm sorry if you expected some big master plan, but I thought a giant golden dragon was enough, hehe.

Anyway I hope that this chapter was okay and that you still like my story.
