Previously, in Weaver's Hands…

"I apologize if my failing to disclose Magnolia's entire medical history has somehow inconvenienced you." Kurama's voice nearly dripped with disdain.

Son of a whore, he really doesn't realize.

"You don't know the danger you've put us in." I spun, eyes wide with fear. The bell tolled, and the corvid lifted its head from the massacred beast on the ground to stare at us. At least, I assume it was watching us. It didn't have true eyes to speak of; it was made of a colorful, rippling weave of emotions that only resembled a bird.

"Go," I commanded, and without waiting for a response I placed blue's hand on Kurama's chest and pushed his presence out of Maggie's mind.

Kurama yanked his arm back from June's shoulder without warning, startling the quiet room.

"Hey – you ok?" Kuwabara asked, taking a quick step closer. He didn't like the sharp reaction at all, especially as the fox demon moved back a few paces, putting distance between the weaver and himself.

"I believe I'm unscathed, thank you." Kurama held his hand close to his chest. "I believe our friend may be another story."

Kuwabara's tone transitioned swiftly from concern to defensive confusion. "June? What happened?" The stocky woman looked fine – her hand was still on Maggie's forehead, and as far as Kazuma could tell nothing had changed about their positioning. He frowned – was he missing something?

"I'm not certain, but she seemed concerned." Kurama's answer was less than helpful.

"So her trick doesn't work with an audience – oh well," Yusuke drawled from across the room. "Color me surprised."

"Hey!" Kuwabara barked, pointing a stern and accusing finger at his friend. "You've never seen her work before, so shut your mouth!"

"And you have?" Yusuke shot back, sneering. "Are you sure she wasn't just fooling you, Kuwabara? Because I haven't seen a thing other than a weird light-show, so-"

"Verdandi?" Woden's breathless voice cut between them, his attention drawn to the bed. Kurama and Kuwabara glanced back to find blue eyes blinking up at the pair of them.

Maggie breathed deeply, like a sigh, and sat up. June's hand fell from her shoulder limply, and Kuwabara caught the stocky woman as she listed dangerously to one side. "June?" Kuwabara cradled her head against his shoulder as gently as he could. She did not stir as he repeatedly called her name. "Kurama-" Kuwabara tried to ask for help with the unresponsive form of his friend but was interrupted by the patient.

"What happened?" Maggie's voice echoed in itself, like two recordings of the same song played nearly simultaneously. She stood easily from the bed, gliding like smoke on the water to perch on her toes. She pushed black curls away from her face, and let the hand drag down her cheek like someone feeling their skin for the first time.

"Maggie? Do you know where you are?" Kurama asked tentatively, watching as she examined her hands and touched her arms, seeming to familiarize herself with their shape. She blinked to clear her eyes, lifting her head slowly to look at the fox. Her gaze was empty, calm, and calculating. The room held its breath.

A warm smile washed over her face. "We know you. You're Kurama."

Kurama touched her arm and she leaned towards him, the warmth still spreading through her form. "Maggie… who are 'we'?" Kurama asked gently.

She giggled; a lighthearted sound meant for observing absent-minded children. "We are the Song of the World and Magnolia Verdandi," she clarified as if it were implicit in her presence alone, a wobble of her hand trying to merge the two in motion. "We are the Rally and the Roar."

"Verdandi, no…" Woden's voice broke, and his figure sagged.

"Kurama, I really don't think that weaver's trick worked," Yusuke interjected, more uncertain than ever.

"It did too much," Woden argued. "Verdandi shared her place with the Song before, only just sometimes. Now they're equals."

"What the hell does that mean?" Yusuke propped fists on his hips. "Do you always talk like there's a damn ancient prophecy being laid out?"

Kuwabara held the back of his hand in front of June's nose briefly, just to check that – yes, she was breathing. His mind ran at overdrive, trying to figure out why she wouldn't wake up. Kurama left, whatever that means, and then a minute later Maggie woke up. So… he hit a brick wall of reasoning, what does that mean for June? She was in Maggie's head, so it's not like she could have gotten lost or something, right?

Maggie's head swiveled as she turned her attention to the closed door leading to the hall. "I followed the light," she said as if speaking to the door itself.

Woden turned, looked at the door, and then looked back at Maggie. "You want it open, Verdandi?" he asked.

Maggie stood from the bed, reaching a hand for the door. "The light," she said, reverently.

"I think that's a yes," Yusuke shrugged.

Woden slowly turned the doorknob, and Maggie rose up onto her toes with eager anticipation. Her form thrummed and grew slightly indistinct as her entire being focused on the door. It creaked on old hinges that needed a little more attention than they regularly were afforded.

"Oh, hello?" a sweet voice greeted, a hand held in the air poised to knock but now just left with nothing to do. "How'd you know I was here?"

"Oh thank God – I thought I was gonna have a mismatched set for the rest of my life!" Yusuke cheered, pumping a fist in the air like he'd won something.

"Shut your mouth before you infect everyone with your stupidity," the woman's companion sneered, though the effect of a downy-haired toddler in his arms somewhat lessened the threatening effect.

Aria and Hiei Jaganshi, contrasts of sunshine and shadow given mortal form, had arrived.

"I followed you," Maggie's single-chorus chimed as she walked towards Aria, grabbing her hand to draw her further into the room. "I followed you after I was made again and now here we are," she babbled excitedly.

Aria nodded slowly, trying to follow the logic. "I see," she said slowly "You were made again?" she asked dubiously.

"I was unmade and remade and now I'm together," Maggie explained in stuttering, halting fashion, clearly having difficulty managing the language, as reflected by the discord in her voice. "But I'm not sure this is the right together, but I can be both?"

"Well," Aria said slowly, drawing out the sound, "did you ask for help, maybe? I bet one of these kind friends of ours knows what's happening."

Maggie's face scrunched at that. "They don't know," she insisted with almost a pout.

"I don't know about that." Aria's attention swept once around the room. Maggie's face watched Aria's as she looked, but did not follow her line of sight. Aria smiled kindly at the confused woman and patted her hand. "Don't you remember what I said before?"

Maggie frowned in concentration. "It's ok to need other people sometimes," Maggie's voice still echoed within itself, but it was less pronounced.

Aria smiled – she beamed – and nodded. "That's right, honey." She moved closer, entering the strange buzzing space around Maggie. "And you are not what they made you." Without waiting for permission, she gathered Maggie into her embrace. Maggie tensed, her shoulders hunching upwards as she recoiled. But Aria persisted, closing her eyes and somehow managing to radiate peace and warmth without saying a word.

Maggie slowly relaxed and wrapped her arms around Aria's waist. She rested her chin on Aria's shoulder and her eyes lowered to a half-lidded rest. "I think I'd like to be me," she admitted.

"Okay – can we get you some help with that?" Aria asked, not letting go.

"Okay," Maggie accepted. Her voice was her own and had lost the musical, echoing dual-voices quality. The air lost some of its eerie humming, and several relieved breaths were taken for all but one.

Kazuma's attention was focused on June and her unresponsive stupor. While he was relieved that Maggie was doing better, and ecstatic to see Aria so soon again, their presence was drawing much-needed attention away from June. He needed Kurama to give him just ten percent of his brain for maybe a minute and he'd be able to figure it out.

A sharp, impolite call hit the tip of his tongue, ready to dive out of his mouth with vicious intent when June took a deep, shuddering gasp.

June's eyes opened but they were not her own; her soft earthy-brown had been consumed by the blue light of her shuttle's power. Her mouth opened, spilling out more pristine blue light.

"June?" Kazuma asked, and while June's head looked at his face he got the feeling it wasn't June looking at him. "…Blue?" he corrected softly as she moved out of his embrace, sitting up with perfect posture in her chair.

An unearthly voice spoke from June's mouth. It echoed oddly, with a more musical quality than the Czech woman had ever displayed. She opened her arms wide to the gathered group, smiling like a new mother. "Chyběla jsem ti, moji přátelé."

A/N: Hello again! I recently finished my Captain America TFA story, and I think I'm about ready to get some more content written for June! I've outlined the story, which gave me great help for Alice's story, and found a few holes that needed filling in my plans for this story. Now that those holes have been firmly plugged I'm not feeling quite so blocked!

So this is just to say; welcome back, everyone.
