Chapter 20
30 minutes earlier
Aunt May rubbed her temples very, very slowly trying to ease the headache she was having, from the fight that Mary Jane and Peter had. Those two acted like a married couple, worse than her and Ben she might add.
Never her life had she an experience quite like this. Her nephew was bitten by a spider and has been given super powers as well, including Mary Jane, whom she looked at as the niece she never had.
Well, now she was her legal guardian after filing papers against her father, she won the case, nevertheless she couldn't help get that annoying feeling that she could not fill the void of the young redheads biological aunt and mother, however that did not stop from trying to be there for Mary Jane when she needed the support.
Speaking of support she rested on her armchair in the living room, trying to keep herself from having an anxiety attack, never in her 60 year lifespan would she had dreamed of what her little Peter fate would be, she sighed, stealing a glance over to where the a small round glass table was supporting a lamp and underneath it was a picture of her late husband Ben, herself and their nephew at his third birthday party with his parents.
Turning her head fully to the picture frame, she grabbed it, looked at each face smiling, her face softens when she came across the two other people, Richard and Mary Parker, they were smiling and laughing with their son Peter as they looked at the camera, life was so simple back then, well at least for the moment until they had to leave for a mission from S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Oh, Ben, Richard and Mary if you only you could see how much Peter has grown into a fine young man." She placed two fingers to her lips, then to the framed photo, she sighed, reaching for the remote turning on the TV.
The moment she turned it on was going to be the biggest heart attack, she was going to receive, "It appears that Spider-man is facing some sort of man in a Scropion suit! This man came out of nowhere after fighting some sort of mechanical spiders, as you can see we got a bird's eye view of the battle and it appears the Scropion."
Mays eyes widen in horror as she saw helplessly the man in the dreaded Scorpion beating on her only nephew, she wanted to change the channel however she forced herself to watch the battle. She saw that this man was faster, stronger than Peter and without Mary Jane to support him Peter was sure to be defeated.
She watched as the man fired a laser, then acid at her nephew, then flinging him from where he stood with his tail to a nearby building. She prayed for nephews safety after witnesses this, it was too bad Mary Jane was out of commission so she thought.
May Parker watched in horror as this unknown man beating her nephew with his tail. She winced every time Spider-Man received a blow, as he was thrown around like a rag doll to the floor with, Aunt May couldn't bear it any longer when her nephew was thrown into the water tank.
It crumbled on top of him, she immediately switched the TV off with the remote. Her heart was racing as she assumed the worst had happened to her nephew. Oh, how would she dread it if she lost her only family.
As of right now, she would have to wait and pray to make sure that the worst had not happened to her nephew.
May heard a faint thump coming from the upstairs room, she has been praying for the last 10 minutes for her nephew's safety. Quickly as her bones could carry her, she barged into the room of Mary Jane witnessing her two unmasked wards tending to each other wounds more or was it MJ attending Peter to his wounds.
May put a hand to her mouth in shock and fear, Peter was covered in bruises, scrapes, and a black eye.
"Peter!"
Both teens jumped when they saw her at the door, Peter chuckled nervously, saying weakly "Aunt May, this… um… lovely day we're having…"
She fainted, Mary Jane was kneeling next to Peter trying to take his foot pads off looked at him queerly, "Smooth Peter, real smooth."
"Shut up red… and help me take off my costume shoes." He winced in pain as he tried to reach for them
The redhead twitched at the command, instead of helping she punched him in the ribs.
"OW! Damn it woman, what was that for?" He rubbed his sore rib cage
"Next time ask nicely." She muttered, "I'll go place Aunt May in bed and get the first aid kit."
OSCORP Night
"So you will do it?" Asked a curious Norman Osborn, he was talking on his phone with his mysterious client named Sergei Nikolaevich Kravinoff or Kraven the hunter. He seemed very interested in catching both Spider-Man and woman.
"I'll accept this challenge Osborn." He said in his thick Russian accent, "But keep your money the thrill of the hunt will be thrilling enough for me and my daughter.
"So it's a deal, you bring me Spider-Man and his woman in exchange for the masks as your trophies." Norman smirked at this, he finally was getting somewhere instead of being stopped dead in his tracksfrom trying to catch two annoying costume freaks.
"I will enjoy this hunt Osborn, take note that I Kraven am the world's greatest hunter that ever lived and no prey has escaped me before." He stated over the phone proudly
"Well, we shall who will be the better man in this 'hunt'. " Norman mocked, "And you better not fail me, I don't tolerate failures or I'll ship you back to where you came from inside a cage where you belong! Am I making myself clear!"
"Crystal, good evening Osborn."
The line went dead after that, Norman rose from his chair after hanging up, walking over the window where down below he could see the streets of a busy New York. He smiled, "Soon I'll have the secrets to what makes those costume buffoons tick."
Unknown Location
"I don't trust him, father." Ana said, she leaned on the telephone booth outer shell looking into the distance with a serious face on, "Business men like him are always trouble and there be always a catch."
Kraven walked to his daughter caressing her face, "Don't worry my sweet daughter Ana, soon we will have our hunt, then we will leave this country with our trophies in our hands. We'll have those two Spiders by the throat before they realize what hit them."
"When do we start?" She smirked
"Tomorrow night." He walked away from the booth motioning his daughter to follow, "We will draw them out and study them one last time before the real game begins."
A smirk crosses the daughter's face, she couldn't wait to sink her blade in her prey and watch them die a slow painful death. Unknown to the hunters that they were being watched by someone from a distant.
She swung her tail from side to side as this humanoid feline woman stared at the unsuspecting hunters. Her teeth shown in a growl as she stared them down with pure hatred, in her cat like standardizing the unknown female humanoid watched as the hunters disappeared into the shadows.
"Soon the hunter will be the hunted!" She growled as the feline humanoid zipped into the night across the building at full speed before leaping into the air to catch the side of another building. Climbing it at full force, she disappeared without a trace, leaving behind a series of claw marks whether she touched.
Osborne Mansion four days later
Harry laying on the couch was flipping through the channels wanting to watch something decent, only thing was every channel he flipped through was nothing but garbage well maybe except the food network, Discovery channel from time to time.
He frowned, there has to be something good on TV he thought.
He flipped channel 7 ABC news with a picture of a claws marks, as he skipped over it by one channel, he paused.
"What in the world?" Switching back he heard the following
"As you can see here, mysterious claw marks have been appearing in certain parts of the cities."
"Huh…" Harry sat up, leaning forward on his legs, mildly interested on what is transpiring tonight, as he focused his father came from the upstairs bedroom.
"Harry have you seen my…my…"
Both father and son stared at the television with different interest.
"NYPD has issued that all residents stay indoors for the night until this strange phenomenon is resolved. The mayor has issued a high alert for all available personal to watch for these strange claws that had appeared and to use necessary force on this strange creature if it is to appear. In others new search continues for the missing Felicia Hardy heir to the Hardy Enterprise, she was kidnapped only few nights ago and her mother is offering half 1,000,000 dollars for her safe return."
Harry whistled when he heard the amount that was being offered.
Norman narrowed his eyes, quick as lighting he pulled out his Blackberry dialing a number, it rang for a few moments before someone on the other end picked it up.
"It's Norman Osborne I want those flying seekers out tonight to find that metahuman...I don't care if it's still under construction…Listen Smythe I am the one who is funding you and no one else! Now do as I say or your ass is fired and there will be no wheelchair for your son Alastair if you refuse! Do I make myself clear Spencer?!"
He listened to a defeated 'Yes sir' before replying, "Good I want to see this meta-creature live tonight and with that being said I am heading over to your facility tonight."
He hung up, he smiled, 'Soon I will have the secrets to what makes meta-human tick.'
The thoughts were interrupted by his son voice, "Dad?"
"What?"
"Need something?"
"Not anymore Harry, don't wait up for me tonight I have business to attend to with Spencer Smythe." Norman missed the mutter under his son's breath as he left the apartment.
"Try to be a helpful guy but what does he end up doing being a jackass." He muttered, "Humph…"
The younger Osborne turned his attention back to the TV, once again flipping through the channels with irritation.
Daily Bugle
Peter was alone in the Bugle without MJ since she was out patrolling the streets of New York, his webs was clipped by his aunt after the beating he was given by the Scorpion, she told to fully recover from his injuries before going as Spider-Man.
'Sometimes life isn't fair.'
Now he had to sit through one of rants because of how lousy some photographers were at their jobs and he didn't have a picture of Spider-Man he would fire both himself and Brock.
He tuned him out a long time ago, however that was about to change.
"Parker! PARKER!" Bellowed Jameson
"Yes Mr. Jameson?" He said in the most innocent tone possible
"Didn't you hear? I said get out, don't come back unless you pictures of Spider-man or his girlfriend. That goes for you to Brock!"
"Yeah, later Mr. Jameson."
Both photographers left the office with it slamming behind them.
"Well, that went well."
"Shut up Brock, you know Jameson by now."
"Hey! No one asked you about your opinion Parker."
"Humph whatever."
Peter left a glaring Eddie, "One of these days Peter you are going to get what's coming to you."
On patrol Mary Jane sighed, it was sure lonely without having Peter around to at least say something idiotic to at least break the boredom.
Swinging through the city was a nice distraction at least she could clear her head about something.
Suddenly the police cars raced through the city along with helicopters flying overhead.
'So much for clearing the old noggin'…'
Picking up the pace she landed on a nearby helicopter that was headed to the bank. Now what got her attention was, once she arrived five minutes later was there was three S.W.A.T vans, a dozen of NYPD personal, fire fighters, and Ambulance Corp there.
"What do we have here?" She muttered to herself
She heard a police officer over the megaphone, "Cletus Kasady, this is the Police we have you surrounded, put the gun down and let the hostage go and while you're at put your hands behind your head."
Maniacal laughter was heard, "HAHAHAHAH….Just try and get me, I dare any one of you boys in blue to just try and stop me! Even if you do I have the whole place ready to detonate in less than 30 minutes!"
Mary Jane gasped, she knew that she had to sneak into the bank to find that bomb unless innocent lives were going to be lost. She knew she had to go around the maniac or fear the worst.
'You know I don't understand why I have to put up with these psychopaths?' She made her way through the vent in search of the entrance towards the bank, 'Well I guess someone has to put crime in its place.'
Fisk Enterprise
Walter Hardy or John Hardesky watched as his daughter trained in the style of the he called 'The Cat'. He had no choice but to agree to what the Kingpin had in store for them, it was either his daughter's life or surrender the formula of the super solider serum.
Much to his dismay he gave the formula up to King Pin and his scientist Herbert Landon, now they used it on his only daughter with a little extra.
Felicia could now change from being what Wilson Fisk called her 'The Black Cat' back to her regular self again.
Tension still reigned between father and daughter, despite the fact Walter was training his little kitten four the last four days, he taught her everything that he knew from acrobatics to marital arts. He was amazed at the progress Felicia was learning this, he wondered if this was the true potential of the serum or this was his daughter natural learning gift.
They been at the training since her capture and they were sleep deprived for training with little rest. Felicia was tired, she wanted to rest, it has been nonstop training, the only thing King Pin was gracious to do was to let them shower and eat but not to take a break.
Suddenly the door to their holding cell was opened to reveal the Wilson Fisk with the Chameleon and Doctor Octopus.
"Fisk to what do we owe this displeasure?" The elder man asked.
"Tonight I have a little assignment for our Black Cat, so there will be no more training until then."
'Finally I can take a break, all this training is killing me.' Felicia thought
Fisk looked into her tired eyes, "Rest up Felicia we have a long night ahead of us." He chuckled darkly, "A very long night."
The streets of New York City where Peter walked around the Big Apple, he was bored out of his mind, he couldn't web swing around the city, and Mary Jane had gone out on patrol for the first time in her life.
'MJ…' He thought, 'What do I really feel for you? Don't be ridiculous Peter, you liked her since kindergarten I mean…does she really feel the same about me?'
Not paying attention he bumped into a person in a trench coat.
"Whoops sorry about that." He said
"Don't worry about kid." Said the feminine voice
Peter despite the cold that was hitting his face looked briefly at the fluffy tail of what appears to be of a tiger. Confused he dismissed it as nothing muttering under his breath, something very unintelligent on his part.
Peter decided to stop at a bus corner to take out his wallet to look through the business Mr. Fantastic had given Mary Jane. He pulled it out, looked at the number he thought to himself what if Mister Fantastic had the technology to help him create some sort of device that would allow him to track the villains he is always losing.
He took a moment and dialed the number, it rang for a few moments before it was picked up.
"Baxter building Reed Richards speaking, how can I help you?"
"Mr. Richards how are you doing, this is Peter Parker we met during event of Planetarium."
"Ah yes, Mr. Parker I remember you I was wondering if you and your friend would give us call, so what can I do for you Peter?" He said
"I was wondering if it would be alright if I could come in today and ask if you had the technology to help me build a tracer to locate the lost and found if you catch my drift."
"I think I know what you're trying to say and let me see if I have time available today…"
The young adult listened as Mister Fantastic whistled a tune, he finally came on the phone a few seconds later, "You are in luck Peter I do have enough time in my schedule to see you, so what time do you want to come in?"
Peter looked at his watch, '1:30pm…'
"How about 3:00pm?"
"Let me check…great I'll see you then."
"Awesome, have 'A Fantastic Day'…" Peter chuckled to himself
"Kid get yourself some new writing material that joke was corny as Johnny joke with Ben being the Thing."
Peter scratched the back of his head, "Heh, heh, before you go the address?"
"Located at 42nd Street and Madison Avenue, you can't miss it, the building has a Giant Number four on the top."
"Right thank you, have a nice day." They hung up, "Great Even he thinks I'm corny, can't a guy have a little appreciation with jokes."
His cell rang again this time it was MJ that called, "Hey Red what's up?"
"Peter I'm in a bit of a pickle…"
"What going on?"
"Well you see I have to disarm a bomb and just by looking at it, the damn thing has some complicated wiring I can't figure out which to cut."
"Just use your spider-sense…"
"Well here's the thing every wire I try to touch it my spider-sense goes haywire, not mention I have less than 20 minutes to disarm this thing"
Peter was silent, for a moment.
"Hello?"
"Red don't move I'm going over there to help you out."
Peter went into the alley way quickly changed into his costume, he promised his aunt that he wouldn't fight crime today yet he had an emergency to deal with. It was a thing that he had thermals underneath his costume to fend off the cold though this was a temporary solution, hopefully at three o' clock he can meet up with the FF to build more than a tracer.
AS he exited the alley at full speed a pair of Green eyes followed him, "I've found you Spider-Man, you don't realize the danger that you are in."
The humanoid tigress sped off in his direction disregarding the trench coat in hopes of catching the web-head in order to make sure she tells him the important information regarding a certain Hunter.
Somewhere else
The wind picked up blowing a newspaper in the busy city of New York. The wind carried its passenger through the sky where its destination was unknown, it floated carelessly that way and this way, looping around for that matter aimlessly.
It finally stopped at a building where on it was none other than Kraven the Hunter, he noticed the paper next to his foot, picking it up he skimmed through it, then something caught his eye. His nostril flared in anger, "So my beloved is here? I will find her if it's the last thing I do."
"What are you talking about father?"
Kraven crunched the newspaper in his hands, throwing it to the ground, "I have a new prey to hunt my beloved daughter Anna, and can you deal with the Spiders as I attend to unfinished business with an old friend?"
"Of course father it will be an honor to deal with the Spiders but where are you off too?"
"To visit an old friend." Kraven caressed his daughter's cheek before leaving her on the hotel roof, they were staying at, 'Or to bring back your mother.'
Anna watched him go before turning her attention to the disregarded newspaper, she skimmed through it despite the fact she had not found anything interesting within it.
Kraven leapt from roof top to roof top in hopes to find the Hardy foundation, he didn't care if it took him all day to find it, he will have his beloved back whether she wanted to go with him or not and he will make sure that they will stay a family, "I'm coming for you Mariah Crawford and this time you will not get away!"
Peter raced through the city skylines of NYC, towards Mary Jane location, she said that she was at the bank, to which he had to use his 7th sense in order to find her, he noted that the farther away, he got the weaker he was, however, his 7th sense tingled the closer he was, the stronger it got.
So far that sense was getting stronger as he sped through the city.
"A bomb that will go off in less than 15 minutes! I hope I can get there before it's too late. What was that girl thinking, tackling that dire situation without me?" He asked himself
Following him from a distance was the humanoid tigress was tailing him, she made sure to stay out of his view though she didn't know about his extra sense.
"Spider-sense! Danger!" He stopped onto a nearby building looking around to see what the matter was. Unfortunately, he found none or so he thought, "Great waste more time I'm not on limited time here!"
About to take off again, he heard a jungle cat roar, it tackled him from the edge of the building to the roof ground. They rolled around for a time before Spidey kicked out of his attacker.
He rolled on his stomach to find a cat person with orange fur with black stripes with the hair color red-orange crouching on all fours staring at him with green eyes, the tail wagging back and forth. He noticed that this feline-cat person was wearing the same trench coat, as before.
"Now where did you come from?"
With Mary Jane
Mary Jane was sweating bullets right now, between the bomb with less than 14 minutes to go off and the psychopath that was outside waving his gun at the boys in blue it was nerve racking not to mention Peter was nowhere to be seen yet.
She was tempted to use her 7th sense, but decided against it for the fact remained that she would be wasting more time than she already has.
Spider-woman was lucky though that she found the bomb hidden in the ceiling of the bank at the southwest corner, it was made her spider-sense go haywire the couple of times as she passed by it. She freed as many hostages as she could tell them to run to safety.
She looked at the bomb it looked like a mini nuclear bomb, she opened the hatch to it to find a very completed wiring system, different color wires, a red metal collar to the right of the wires, and a timer that had reached 13 minutes and counting.
She really wanted to yank her hair out now.
"Where does this guy find the time to make a bomb like this!?" She said to no one, she picked it up after closing the hatch, deciding to head for the rooftop, "Peter where ever you are, you better get your sorry ass here before I unleash fury upon you."
Back with Peter
Spidey dodges another tackle from Tigress as he soon found out later her name. This humanoid cat woman was being very aggressive with into trying to pin him down just to 'talk', he has been dodging her swipes, tackles.
"Say fuss ball, trying aiming next time, why don't you?" He mocked dodging an uppercut to the face.
"You won't be mocking me once I catch you and would you hold still I have to tell something important!" She replied
"Uh-huh, when you stop trying to claw my brains out then I'll stop either wise the answer is no pussycat!"
Tigress growled at him, "Why you little!" She punched him once again, leaping through the air in hopes that she would catch him off guard, unfortunately for her, he anticipated her lap somersaulted over her head.
Now he twisted his body facing her back and with that like any spider would do to its prey… well, almost any spider, he started to web her in place as he soared through the air.
With her arms pinned to the side and legs covered in webbing, she immediately fell to the ground with a mighty thud.
"UGH…" She lifted her head, her hair covered a bit on her face as she saw Spider-Man landing in a cat stance before firing at another web towards her ankle pulling her towards him.
Once in his grasp, he hoisted her to the nearest wall to start interrogating, "Now that's done and over with… tell me what you want from me?"
"Do you always tie up women in order to get what you want or is this a perverted fantasy that you men always had deep within you to take advantage of little o' me or any females?" She said irking him
"Woman get your head out of the gutter!" Thankfully for him, he was wearing a mask for it hid a pink hue that came across his face, "I don't have time for this nonsense and thanks to you I don't think I'll be able to make in time to stop the bomb from exploding and killing innocent people in time."
"Well, sorry, but I had to make sure you were not an imposter, you won't believe how many times I ran into guys who claimed that they were you trying to seduce me just to try to get me in bed with them just to get in between my legs." She countered
"Sheesh, TMI woman, TMI."
"Oh, grow a pair why don't you. You're old enough to handle that information, you're not a little kid." She blows her hair out of her face, "I digress, anyway, and I've come to warn you about a certain man…"
With Mary Jane and the bomb
Five minutes wasted on this bomb and still no sign of Peter, she was going to kick his butt once this situation is over. She sat on the metal piped off the air condition drumming her fingers on what to do with that bomb.
So far no idea came to her on how to disarm it, to put it this way she thought about throwing it in the Hudson River however, given her distance in the Union District she was too far from the river to even make.
Another idea was to disarm it manually though the only problem with that is picking the wrong wire the whole will be crumbling down. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she walked up to the bomb checking how long she had eight minutes to figure out how to disarm the bomb, not only that she had a psychopath to deal with later.
She pondered walking back and forth in front of the bomb wondering what to do, 'Ok, relax, relax eight minutes to go, still no sign of Peter and I'm going to kick his ass once this is another. Think MJ think , I can't web swing to the Hudson River because I'm too far, can't pick a wire because who knows what would happen so the only option is to throw it up…wait a minute…'
The gears in her head started to turn, she looked around the buildings see which one was the tallest, 'If I let the time in the bomb run out just enough than…I got it…I got it!'
Closing the hatch quickly she strapped the bomb to her back, web swinging to the nearest Skyscraper possible to throw the bomb up into the air.
'I sure hope this works.' She thought as she climbed higher, once on the roof she would have to wait almost until time runs out if the timing is off then goodbye citizens hello Jameson bashing.
