(I don't own Inuyasha in any way)
Last Time:
"Yes," Kagura replied and Kagome couldn't make out any more of it. "Well if you feel like that and cancelling on your word doesn't help your honor…" she trail off biting her lip trying to hold in a laugh. Kagome wanted to say something, but what if he heard her.
"Kagura Miasma don't you dare put my honor in this!" Sesshomaru sounded angry.
"Whatever you say Mr. Tashio," Kagura sounded mocking before sending a blink at Kagome.
Now:
Chapter Twenty-One
"What are you doing?" Kagome hissed as her aunt hung up the phone.
"You said he couldn't come for lunch," Kagura said as she tried to look innocence. "I wanted to see if it was true…" Kagome glared but a part of her wondered if he had lied. What if there was someone else? Maybe she wasn't his like she thought.
"That wasn't nice. You shouldn't question anyone on their honor," Kagome replied quietly as she mentally pushed the doubt to the side.
"So Kagome," Kagura decided to change the topic. "How do you like your new job?"
She blinked a few time unsure what to really say. "I love it. I've got a lot done and my boss isn't as bad with getting his work done. I have a beautiful office as well," she thought of her own work space with a smile.
"Oh?" Kagura watched the younger girl with interest. "And who was your boss again?"
"I don't think I've said," she replied with a shrug.
"You hadn't?" The older woman frowned but looked thoughtful. "Which business are you working under?"
"Miasma Rose," Kagome told her aunt who almost choked on her food.
"Isn't the Miasma Rose, also connected to the Miasma Style Salon?" Kagura replied a little raspy. Kagome give her a concern look.
"Yes, it is… Are you alright Aunty?" She leaned closer to see her aunt looked a bit paler.
"Do you know who's business that is?" Kagura exclaimed and Kagome nodded. "You work for your no good for nothing father?!"
"Aunty Kanna got me the job and he is better than before," Kagome replied before she took another bite of her food. "He also is letting me stay with him." Kagura's jaw dropped as she stared at her in disbelief.
"He left you Kagome," Kagura spoke as she tried to keep her anger at bay. "He left you! I was there Kagome! Your family broke after he left. Your mother blamed you and your brother grew up without his father. And you," Kagura's voice went quiet. "You thought it was your entire fault. He did that, how could you be able to live with him after that?" Kagome moved to slip her drink as her eyes wondered around the room. Kagura's red eye stared at Kagome's crimson orbs.
"Honestly past should be stay in the past," Kagome murmured.
Kagura's eyes widen before she spoke, "Kagome I never did notice but you're not hiding your demon looks." Kagome nodded in agreement.
"My inner demon had taken to the past. 500 years in the past and both I and it wants the father we always wanted. Aunty don't you think everyone should have a chance. If he really was all bad, then why didn't he kill me when I was born," Kagome replied thoughtfully. Her aunt froze at that thought.
"I don't know why he hadn't," she sighed. "But-"
"Maybe you should ask him before trying to talk me out of anything," Kagome sighed as she felt her demon purr to herself. The trust was something she thought she might never have for him but it felt so right.
"Fine," Kagura huffed. "So how is it dating Sesshomaru?"
"I'm not telling you of my relationship," Kagome told her as a red blush appeared on her cheeks.
"Hmm, speak of the devil," Kagura spoke as she looked past Kagome. Kagome turned to see her boyfriend talking to one of the workers. Everything in her stopped for the longest second. Tears filled her eyes as a stabbing pain filled her.
"You got to be kidding me," she breathed out. Not even a minute later she was walking toward the silver haired man. "I thought you were busy?" She growled out as he turned in surprise.
"Kagome," he replied calmly as his eyes caught onto his assistant that was slipping a drink.
"Don't Kagome me! You didn't even wish me a Happy Birthday. I had thought you were too busy but you got here and you aren't even working," she shouted catching everyone's attention. A flash of what happened in front of people at the bar and how she broke up with Koga flashed before her eyes. She took a few shaky steps back.
"Kagome please let me explain," Sesshomaru tried to move toward her but her red orbs flashed in fear.
"Stay away from me," she screamed before running out of the place with tears in her eyes. Sesshomaru stood there stunned. He couldn't care that people were looking at him with interest or the fact what his girlfriend did could ruin a part of his name.
A slight chuckle caught his attention and his golden orbs narrowed on to his assistant's eyes. With a sigh he took Kagome's seat and spoke every quietly. "What was the point of this?"
"What point, Lord Sesshomaru?" Kagura asked as before she continued to eat.
"The phone call and making this scene," he replied darkly.
"My niece said you were busy for even her own birthday. As your assistant I know when you are free and not. I wanted to show her you had lied to her. That she was wasting her time with you and now her father," Kagura glared at her boss. "I dare you to fire me because you know anyone else you hire would just try and get into your bed." With that she dug out some money from her purse and left it on the table.
"You don't know anything," he replied emotionless as she grabbed Kagome's purse from the floor.
"Do I? Or do you?" She replied back before she walked out of the place as well.
