Guys? Are you still here? Because I'm really really really sorry for making you wait. I forgot to mention in the last Chapter that I was going overseas with my family. I just got back few days ago and started typing this chapter. Dont kill me, okay?
And since I have an overwhelming number of reviews...ill pm you if you asked a question or gave a really long review. Dont get me wrong...i love reviews! But if I reply to every one of you in my update it would make the chapters waaay too long. Some readers might not like it. So if you had a question, I probably replied to you by PM. Thanks again for those who took time to review and give your honest opinions.
Huge thank you to all the reviewers and compliments!
Enjoy!
Percy
The Great Hall was sliding in and out of focus. The instant Percy's back had slammed against the marble, he'd wished that the curse of Achilles was still on him. Unfortunately, was already washed off, when he had arrived at Camp Jupiter. Without iron skin, the impact made Percy feel like he'd been flattened into a pancake. It took all his willpower to stay conscious. Otherwise, all his effort in trying to protect Harry would be in vain. And it had taken every last bit of strength to lift his sword to prevent himself from being stampeded by the oncoming Hellhound.
So when the second Hellhound had come bounding up to him, Percy was left defenceless. Riptide needed time before it could return back into his pocket, and by that time, the Hellhound would have squashed him senseless. He wondered if Nico had already been devoured by the hound, since the last time Percy saw him, was when Nico was thrown off the back of the Hellhound. But Nico, being the son of Hades, could usually sneak out of sticky situations, with the rather handy use of shadowtravelling.
Unfortunately for Percy, shadowtravelling was not part of his abilities package. He was about to embrace the fact that he would decay as part of the marble floor, stamped into the foundations forever, when the Hellhound fell dead at his feet, disintegrating into yellow dust, and raining silver tipped arrows onto the floor.
Percy blinked, and saw Thalia, Nico, Harry, Ron and Hermione staring down at him.
"So much for being the hero of Olympus twice." Thalia mocked, extending a hand to pull him up.
Percy took her hand and got unsteadily to his feet. His back still felt sore.
"I got one of them in control. Nico was supposed to get the other one!" Percy protested, looking at Nico.
"Don't blame me." Nico defended. "You better thank me for calling Thalia here to save your butt."
The wizards were standing to one side, looking nervously at them. Ron was red in the face, and he was suddenly interested at a scratch on the floor.
Percy cursed the wizards silently. After everything Percy had done to protect the wizards, they still hadn't trusted him. In fact, Ron didn't hesitate to point a finger at him and accusing Percy for betraying them. How thick could they be? At first, Percy had been angry. It wasn't even Percy's idea to come all the way to Hogwarts to look out for Harry. If they didn't appreciate his help at all, he would be happy to stay at Camp Half-Blood, where he could be with Annabeth.
Finally, Harry broke the awkward silence.
"Look, guys. We're really sorry that we accused Percy for being a traitor. We weren't thinking." Harry started.
"Of course you weren't thinking!" Thalia yelled. "How long does it take for you to realise that we were trying to protect you?!"
The daughter of Zeus glared daggers at Ron, who cowered and took a step back.
"I- I said I'm sorry!" Ron faltered, not daring to look back at Thalia.
"Next time, you better think of who you are accusing of treachery." Nico added with a death glare of his own, which was many times scarier than Thalia's glare.
The wizard's nodded, muttering apologies. Percy decided to forgive them this time, since he knew that it was the only way that he could continue to protect Harry.
"Okay. Why don't we think about who might be helping Voldemort." Percy suggested, trying to change the subject.
"It's probably a demigod or a god. They are the only ones who could think of sending Greek monsters here." Nico shrugged.
"And whoever that person is, he or she has to be really powerful. Voldemort is the type of person who thinks he is the most authoritative person. He would not seek help if he could avoid it." Hermione said.
"True. What do you think, Harry?" Percy asked. Harry had been staring into space for the last five minutes.
"Harry jumped when he realised Percy was talking to him.
"Uh, sorry, wasn't listening." Harry admitted. He still looked slightly dazed.
"What's wrong, Harry? You look all funny." Hermione said with concern.
Harry was silent for a while. Then he said quietly, "I have to tell you something."
They were silent, waiting for him to speak.
"I had been having visions recently. I keep seeing the same things over and over again." Harry explained.
"Visions? That doesn't sound good. Maybe you should tell Dumbledore." Hermione said.
"Shush, Hermione. Let him speak." Ron said helpfully.
"In the vision, I see a lady in black saying that she can offer help to Voldemort. Voldemort accepts her help in the end, and she tells him something, but I can't hear what she said." Harry said.
"And did she mention who she is?" Nico asked darkly.
"I think she did. Wait, let me think." Harry furrowed his eyebrows in concentration, trying to recall the vision. Then, with a jolt, he remembered, "Nemesis, the goddess of Revenge."
Percy felt a tingle down his spine. Nemesis….the goddess who had helped Ethan Nakamura in the Titan War. In return, she had asked for one of Ethan's eyes as payment, making her own son partially blind.
Now she was helping Voldemort, supplying him with information and giving him suggestions. He wondered if Voldemort knew about the consequences for accepting her help. He probably did consider the costs, and had accepted it. Nemesis was also the goddess of fairness, and she would have warned him beforehand.
"That's not good." Percy concluded.
"It's not." Thalia agreed. "If Voldemort has the help from Nemesis, it means he knows we are in Hogwarts protecting you. And that also means that those Hellhounds are sent by Voldemort to get rid of us demigods. He probably realised that it would be hard to kill Harry if we are in the way."
"So what are you going to do?" Hermione asked.
"There is nothing we can do." Percy replied. "Our job is to protect you three. So don't worry about us. We should just stick together and make sure Voldemort doesn't try to get you on your own."
Harry nodded in appreciation. "What do we do now? The Great Hall is a mess."
Percy looked around. Indeed, they had done a good makeover to the Hall. A couple of tables had toppled over and some of the benches were lying in splinters, strewn all over the marble floor. There was a long fissure on the floor where Nico had summoned the dead skeleton soldiers. Percy had even left his own, personal mark on the wall. There was an indent in the wall where the Hellhound had slammed him onto the wall.
"Oh." Percy said, realising the damage they had done.
Hermione stepped forward. "I can fix it." She said confidently.
She waved her wand in the air and muttered, "Reparo."
That seemed to do the trick. The wooden splinters zoomed together and pieced itself back into a pristine bench. The tables rearranged themselves as though no Hellhound had barged into the Great Hall. The walls were smoothened out and there was not a crack to be seen on the floor.
"Handy spell." Percy commented.
"My mom does that all the time." Ron said, not at all impressed. "She uses it to clean up Fred and George's mini explosions in their rooms."
Mini explosions? Percy thought. It sounded like the type of thing Travis and Connor Stoll would enjoy doing. Percy missed staying at Camp Half-Blood. And he wished this quest would be completed soon.
Percy sighed.
"Come on. Let's stop wasting time and go for Potions. I don't want to miss another class." Hermione pestered.
"Can't I just skip Snape's lesson. I'm a Triwizard champion. It is not compulsory for me." Harry said glumly.
"No you can't! You are already underage in the Tournament. You need as much practise as possible!" Hermione said sternly. "Now come, you don't want to be late!"
Hermione grabbed Harry's wrist and marched him off down the staircase. Ron followed reluctantly, dragging his feet.
"Guess we have to go then." Percy said, beckoning to Thalia and Nico.
They nodded and followed the Trio down.
"Hope it won't be a disaster like how Charms was." Nico muttered.
The walk to the Potions lesson was a long one. Percy couldn't keep track of how many flights of steps they had walked down. Deeper and deeper they walked. The staircase was never ending.
Percy was wondering if they would eventually end up in Hades' underworld, when Harry took a left turn into a dark narrow corridor.
The air here was dense and heavy. A lingering chill was surrounding them. The corridor led into a dungeon, and there was a door at the other end of the corridor. Some students were already waiting at the door, pacing around and talking to their friends in hushed voices.
Percy spotted Draco Malfoy talking to another Slytherin girl at one side, not bothering to lower his voice.
"Father says Jackson and Potter will be gone soon." Malfoy sneered, shooting a glance at Percy.
The girl gave a small chuckle and replied, "That's good then."
"Father says his boss has plans for them." Malfoy snickered gleefully. "Jackson will pay for his arrogance."
The girl laughed again, but didn't reply. The small chatter had extinguished. The class went silent and stood to the side of the door. The students looked nervously at the floor.
"You do not talk while waiting for the teacher! Ten points from Gryffindor!" A drawling voice said from the back of the crowd.
Pretty uneventful chapter. I know. Its not my best. But I promise it will get better the next chapter. Pinky promise.
But leave a review? Thanks in advance!
