"Okay dad, we want you right here where mom can see you," the nurse directed in the birthing room.
"Okay-"
"She's having another contraction," the nurse informed the doctor as he had come in and was now assessing the situation.
"It looks like it's time to bear down on the next contraction," the doctor said in the general direction of his patient. "Get ready…"
Oh god this is so intense. She's so amazing. Look at her, in so much pain and yet so strong. She's bringing a life into the world.
THIS HURTS SO FUCKING MUCH! OH MY GOD! I WISH MEN HAD TO EXPERIENCE THIS! LOOK AT HIM OVER THER WITH THAT DAMN GOOFY LOOK ON HIS PRETTY ASS FACE! WHAT IS THIS FREAKIN' DOCTOR SAYING- I'LL PUSH WHEN I DAMN WELL PLEASE! HE HAD BETTER- OWWWWW…. DAMN IT, BEAR DOWN, OKAY I'LL- AHHHGGGGHHHH…. Crying, that's my baby crying. Oh my, he's so perfect…he's just so perfectly beautiful, even covered in after birth he's perfect. Ten fingers, ten toes and the most beautiful smile ever…
The new parents looked at each other as the nurse took their son away to get him cleaned up. Both had thoughts and emotions that filled them in a way that neither could have put into words if they had tried.
Later…
"He's so beautiful."
"Handsome, the word is handsome."
"Shut up Jesse."
"You shut up Jane. Everyone knows that girls are beautiful and boys are handsome."
Daria listened to the two and their good natured banter. It was like music to her ears once the doctor had given her son a clean bill of health and she had checked out everything for herself of course. She had never imagined that she could love someone like this it was more than any book or feeling that she could have imagined. She looked at the little bundle that Trent held beside her and her heart swelled all over again.
"Really guys, he's pretty damn perfect." Jane declared looking at her brother and friend.
Regardless of the circumstances, you two made a beautiful little boy. He's got his father's long fingers and legs and his mothers' eyes that let you know that there's a lot more going on back there than anyone would ever truly know.
The quartet was soon invaded by the Morgendorffer's and the barrage of photos that they took along with what looked to be every stuffed animal that Jake could find. The baby was surrounded by love and that was what Daria wanted for her child at all times, for him to feel loved, safe, and secure.
"Penny for your thoughts there kiddo," Jake had pulled a chair as close to his daughters bedside as he could. Quinn and Helen had went to get decent food, Jane and Jesse had to go to work and Trent had to leave for work with the promise that he would be back later. This was the first time that Jake had gotten to be alone with his daughter.
"It'll cost you more than that dad." She spoke with her head still relaxed into the pillow and her eyes half closed.
"You did good kiddo," she felt him pat her hand and her eyes fluttered slightly to open a little bit.
"Thanks dad."
Look at you all grown up and now a new mother. Still daddy's strongest little warrior…
"You're gonna be a good mother sweetheart."
Daria, filled with sudden emotion, fought to keep tears at bay.
"And you'll be a great granddad."
The two smiled at each other.
