"As the years past, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a beast?"

-Beauty and the Beast (disney)

"Tada!" Lily held out the brand new motorcycle helmet.

"You made me wait this whole time in your wretched room for that!" Scorpion snarled.

Lily pouted, examining it thoughtfully. "I know it's plain, but the ones with designs were over my budget."

"Take it back. I will not wear such a ridiculous thing."

Ignoring his comment, "Try it on. I wanna see if it fits."

"No."

"Yes."

Scorpion glared at her as she went on her tippy toes to put the helmet on him. She took a step back and clasped her hands together in delight.

"Perfect! I can't see your face at all!"

"Why would any human wear something so suffocating," he sneered.

"It's the price you pay for protection," Lily remarked, knocking on the side of the helmet.

"Protection?" the hell-spawn scoffed. "This will not protect any warrior from battle."

"It's not for battle," Lily chuckled. "It's a motorcycle helmet. People use it to protect their head incase of an accident—like a car crash."

"Car crash…" Scorpion mused. "These…cars you speak of…they are those mechanical contraptions humans use for transportation."

"Yup. Not everyone has the luxury of teleporting like you," Lily said while rummaging through the Motor Roos bag. "Aha!" Her eyes brightened as she took out what she was looking for.

"What is that?" Scorpion asked suspiciously.

"I couldn't afford any of the helmets with cool designs, but that's okay 'cause the guy at the register gave me free stickers!" She held them up to him, "See? They're flames! What are the odds, huh?" She climbed on her bed and contently peeled the stickers.

"Come here," Lily motioned.

She watched as he warily stepped in front of her, waiting for her next order. Lily never expected in a million years that the hell-spawn would be this compliant.

"Don't move until I'm done." She carefully stuck a flame sticker on each side of the helmet while Scorpion stood completely still, like a statue. "Awesome!" Lily gave him a thumbs up. "The red really makes it pop."

Scorpion let out an aggravating grunt as he pushed Lily back. "I've had enough of this!"

She tumbled off the bed, hitting the wall. Lily hissed in pain as she rubbed her throbbing head. "What the hell was that for!"

"I am not some play-thing!" Scorpion raised the helmet over his head, getting ready to smash it on the floor.

All Lily could see was money going up in smoke. She glanced at a lamp on her beside table, and instinctively chucked it. The lamp shattered as soon as it smacked into his face. The hell-spawn stopped abruptly, whether it was from shock or anger—who knew.

Lily's eyes widened, stunned that she hit the bulls-eye. She immediately lowered her head, and peeked from the bedside. He was still there, burning his fierce glare into her eyes.

"I'm—I'm not saying sorry!" She nervously pointed an accusatory finger, "This is your fault! You made me do it!"

Scorpion took a step forward, causing Lily to sprout a couple of extra arms defensively. He stopped while he scoffed in amusement. "You will not risk fighting me here."

"Oh yeah?" She stood up from the floor, "Try me."

Even though Lily was bluffing, she knew the hell-spawn was too. A showdown in the middle of a populated neighborhood would ruin Scorpion's plan, and give their positions away to Quan Chi. Plus, Lily was fully prepared for an actual fight if Scorpion did decide to go schizoid again.

"Hmph," he grumbled, unimpressed, hurling the helmet in Lily's direction.

She reflexively catches it, realizing it was a distraction when her face is smothered on the bed sheets with her wrists pinned behind her back. Lily immediately surrounded Scorpion with her extra sharp tentacle looking limbs.

"Tch. You bare your fangs, yet you do not bite me."

"Goddamnit Scorpion!" Lily squirmed viciously. "You said you'd behave!"

"If you want me to do as you say," he leaned in close to her ear and whispered harshly, "Then make me."

Lily's breath hitched in her throat, feeling an immediate escalation in her heartbeat. It wasn't because of his threatening voice—she was used to that. It was because his words were also laced with amusement. Was he actually taking pleasure in harassing her?

First he throws a tantrum and uses her like a rag doll, and now all of a sudden he's having fun?

"You sadistic asshole!" Lily wrapped up Scorpion with her limbs and yanked him away. "HA! You're trapped!" She tightened her grip on him as she laughed triumphantly.

Scorpion only stared back at her with a bored expression.

"Hm?" Lily titled her head and grinned, "What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?"

He grunted a sigh, lighting himself up on fire. She immediately released him.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" Lily snapped. "You could of set my whole house on fire!"

"That's what happens when you try to restrain me!" Scorpion spat back.

"Welcome to my world! You made me—" Lily stopped her scolding when her eyes caught sight of something black hovering above the hell-spawn. "MY CEILIIIING!" she shrieked in horror at the huge burnt stain.

How was she going to explain this to her mom when she got home? It was completely noticeable. She racked through her brain desperately thinking of ANY excuse, but none were convincing enough.

Yeah mom, I accidently lit the ceiling on fire because I was playing with the lighter.

"I'M DOOMED!" she pulled at her hair while she paced back and forth.

Somehow, by the grace of God, an idea struck her when she glanced at the Indiana Jones poster perched above her bed frame. Lily pounced on her bed, and carefully removed the poster because it would be a shame if Harrison Ford's face were ripped.

"What are you up to now?" Scorpion groaned.

"Cleaning up your mess," Lily scowled. "Give me a boost."

"No."

"YOU FU"—

"I'll do it!" he snarled. "Just STOP screaming!"

The nerve of this guy!

He effortlessly elevated her and she nodded when she was high enough. Lily began sticking the poster over the black stain; mentally praying it would cover everything.

"Kay, I'm done."

Scorpion rolled his eyes as he set her down.

Lily tilted her head as she inspected her handy work. "Hmm, it looks hidden enough. Guess it'll have to do."

"You made this happen," the hell-spawn retorted, folding his arms.

After angrily sweeping up the broken lamp with Scorpion showing no interest in helping her, Lily grabbed a couple of movies from the shelf and stormed off into the living room. She tossed them on the couch, and served herself a bowl of sour cream and onion chips that were hiding in the cupboard. Lily rummaged through the refrigerator trying to find something to drink. Her mother was a health nut so there wasn't a lot of soft drinks or juices. It was mostly water and some weird organic crap she didn't feel like inspecting.

Lily pushed all of it aside to find a single cherry coke.

"Bingo," she smirked, reaching out for the can.

As Lily popped the can open, she took a swig and sighed in satisfaction, "Ahhh! Refreshing! I miss these." She closed the fridge, and yelped pretty loud when Scorpion randomly appeared. "CHRIST! How many times have I told you to stop that?!"

"That was not my intention," he says flatly. "Your piercing shrieks are not worth it."

Lily had the immediate urge to throw the soda in his face, but that would only be a waste.

"What do you want," she growled.

"What are you doing down here." It was more of a command than a question.

"Ugh, I'm gunna watch TV. Leave me alone."

"As much as it tempts me," he says while following her back to the living room, "I must look after you as a precaution. We must not allow Quan Chi to have any advantage."

"I don't want to talk about this anymore," she mutters dejectedly while inserting Beauty and the Beast into the DVD player.

When he spoke about Quan Chi, Lily was reminded of the cruel fate that was awaiting her. She just wanted to forget about it because the whole thing was taking a toll on her emotions. It scared her knowing Quan Chi could wipe out her town at any moment. She was barely hanging on a thread between life and death. The only thing to ease her fear was to put it in the back of her mind and keep pretending she was babysitting a brat (Scorpion). It helps keep her from panicking.

She sat back down, immediately munching on the chips once the movie started.

"What is this…" His voice had a mixture of fascination and confusion when the movie showed the wilderness of the trees and the castle.

As soon as the narrator spoke, Scorpion unsheathed his sword and pointed it at the TV.

"What is this thing speaking to us!" he yells defensively. "I demand to know who you are!"

"Oh my god, Scorpion! Don't break my TV! Put that thing away!"

Lily ran in front of the TV, and outstretched her arms protectively.

"Move!" he snapped, getting ready to slash her precious flat screen.

"You idiot! It's a TV! Look!" she re-winded the DVD, and then paused it. "See?"

Scorpion cautiously stepped forward, eyeing the entertainment system suspiciously. He slowly moved his index finger to the screen.

She immediately slapped his hand away. "Don't touch it! You'll mess it up."

"Tch," he scoffed, sheathing his sword as he made his way to sit on the couch like nothing happened.

Lily shook her head disapprovingly, following in suit.

She un-paused the movie, glancing at Scorpion every now and then to make sure his sword stayed where it was suppose to. The hell-spawn kept his usual grumpy composure with his arms crossed, but his eyes were glued to the TV. It seemed as though he was mentally taking note of all the details, like why does everyone randomly burst into song, Belle's obsession with books, Gaston being on steroids, and why do the household items speak.

Now THAT would be hilarious.

She accidently stifles a laugh, causing his head to instantly snap in her direction. Lily cups her mouth and clears her throat awkwardly.

I really shouldn't upset him right now. Can't afford to have him attack the TV again.

"Explain this TV device to me," he says abruptly after a good long while of silence.

"Huh?"

Lily assumed the hell-spawn understood what it was after staring at it for half an hour. It seemed pretty self-explanatory.

She ran a hand through her hair in slight annoyance. She sighs, "All you have to know is it is just a mechanism—nothing dangerous. It's neither alive nor are there any people trapped inside it, so don't freak out. Think of the TV as a projection that is able to visually show occurrences around the world as well as activities for our amusement."

For the love of all that is holy, please don't ask any more questions!

"I see."

"Good. I want to watch this movie in peace."

He probably doesn't know what a movie is either, but she did not want to get into that with him. All she wanted to do was relax and be a couch potato.

Towards the end of the movie where the Beast turns back into a human, Scorpion let out a groan so small, Lily almost didn't catch it.

"You know, it's not like I forced you to watch it with me," she retorted.

"I cannot comprehend how you can sit there and watch this nonsense! It is all filled with lies and the false sense of happiness."

"What makes you say that?" Lily frowned, taking offense to Scorpion insulting her favorite Disney movie.

"This so-called Beast man would never have broken his curse. He is a monster." Scorpion stated.

"Just because you look like a monster, doesn't mean you are one."

The ninja said nothing in reply, so Lily took it as a sign of him getting bored of the conversation. She turned her attention back to Belle and Beast dancing to their happily ever after ending.

"Monsters cannot be loved," he uttered harshly.

Lily sensed the immediate strain in his voice. She glanced at him and saw that he was staring at the screen with an expression she couldn't pinpoint. His eyes appeared resentful, but was that…longing?
