Epilogue

I don't own COTT

Jay sighed as he looked out the window of Herry's truck, during Odie's funeral it had begun raining, and of course the rain matched everyone's moods perfectly, even from in the back seat Jay could hear Atlanta's muffled cries as she cried into Archie's chest, and as he looked in Herry's side mirror he could see Theresa leaning her head against the window tears streaming down her face, Jay wished he had have sat in the back with her now, at least that way she wouldn't be all alone, since Jay knew that Theresa blamed herself for Odie's death, even though she hadn't admitted it out loud.

Theresa hated herself, she had saved her father, but she had ended up losing one of her best friends, how she wished that she had told Jay and the others right away about Cronus' plan, and the plan he had had for her, but no she had to be stupid, and now she was going to have to deal with hearing Odie's parents grieving for the rest of her life. Sighing she felt the tears falling from her eyes but she didn't care.

"Hey, are you OK?" Jay asked bringing Theresa out of her daze, to her surprise they were back at the dorm.

"Yeah." Theresa said opening the door, and grabbing the cane that she had laid on the floor, Chiron had given it to her since Theresa didn't want crutches.

"Are you sure?" Jay asked holding Theresa's shoulders, Theresa didn`t want to look him in the eyes, instead she turned her head closing her eyes, Jay pulled her into a hug.

"Jay, I just want to get packed up and get home." Theresa said pulling away from Jay, and walking inside the dorm, leaving Jay confused and hurt.

Theresa ignored her friends as she walked past them hanging up there coats, she just wanted to go home and forget, forget about everything, she even contemplated about doing a memory erase on herself, since she knew that that was probably going to be the only way for her to move on with her life. Ha she thought, eighteen years old and already she had so many regrets, taking a deep breath Theresa put her hands up to her head, and closed her eyes.

"For…" Theresa never got to finish before a bang on her door startled her.

"Theresa?" Came Jay's voice, "can I come in?"

Theresa was annoyed now, she loved Jay but he would always be a constant reminder of Odie, Everyone would be.

"Yeah." Theresa finally said, knowing Jay wouldn't leave her alone until he got to see her.

"Hey." Jay said before closing the door behind him and sitting beside her.

"Hi." Theresa said, not looking at him.

"Theresa, can we please talk?" Jay asked, although it sounded more like begging.

"About what?" Theresa asked, though she knew what was coming.

Jay sighed and gently turned her face towards his.

"Theresa, I know that you're blaming yourself for Odie's death, but it's far from being your fault, it's Cronus'."

Theresa felt the tears falling; Jay pulled her into a hug.

"I'm sorry." Theresa mumbled into his shirt.

"You have nothing to be sorry for, Theresa." Jay said rubbing her back.

"It's my fault." Theresa said sobbing louder, "Odie's dead because of me."

"No, Theresa, Odie is dead because an insane god decided it would be fun to make your life a living hell, and make mine and everyone else's a living hell, you did nothing wrong."

"You're just saying that to make me feel better." Theresa said hiding her face deeper into Jay's chest, Jay hugged Theresa tighter, trying to think of something to say.

"I love you." He finally said.

"What?" Theresa said taken off guard, looking up at him.

"I love you." Jay said again looking into the eyes of his true love, even with mascara running down her face and her eyes red from crying, she was still gorgeous.

"I love you too." Theresa said giving Jay a small smile, Jay smiled back down at her as they kissed, before hugging, and crying.

Theresa had never been more happy to be home, even though the goodbyes that morning had been very hard, Theresa just wanted to get on with her life, Jay and her had decided that they both needed some time to think and process everything they had been through, so he was home and so was she.

Taking a deep breath Theresa hobbled up to her front door, she felt weird opening it, almost like she didn't belong here anymore, and in a way she didn't, she wasn't the same girl she was when she left, now she felt like a stranger in her own house.

"Welcome home Ms." Came a voice that Theresa recognized as Tyler, her head butler, looking at him she smiled.

"Thank you Tyler."

"Can I get you anything?"

Theresa thought about that for a second, she was hungry, she hadn't had any breakfast, but after living at the dorm she couldn't bring herself to ask Tyler to bring her food, after all Theresa had been so used to doing everything for herself for the past few years.

"No thank you." Theresa said smiling.

"Yes Ms." Tyler said about to walk away.

"Tyler." Theresa said stopping him, "where's my father?"

"Upstairs." Tyler said, Theresa nodded, she knew that upstairs meant he was in his office.

"Thanks." Theresa said, walking to the stairs.

"Will you require any help, Ms?" Tyler asked noticing Theresa's cane.

Theresa looked at him before looking at the stairs, Chiron had given her a cast for her heel, and her wrist was in a cast as well, but she decided to be stubborn, if Herry was here she would have gotten him to carry her, but she couldn't ask any of the servants, they had enough stuff to do.

"No, I'll be fine." Theresa said giving him a small smile, and then waiting for Tyler to walk away so that he wouldn't see her struggle.

When Theresa finally made it to her father's office she wasn't in any pain but she was in discomfort, a sure sign that her heel was going to start hurting unless if she got off it, luckily her father's office was the first door on the right, the closest. When she stopped in front of it she felt nervous, what would she say if something happened that he suddenly remembered everything that had happened to him? Sighing Theresa prayed that he wouldn't it was bad enough that she was going to have to, taking a deep breath she knocked on the door.

"Come in." Came his voice a few seconds later.

Taking a deep breath Theresa opened the door, her father didn't even turn around, smiling Theresa rolled her eyes, same old father, she thought to herself chuckling.

"Hi Daddy." Theresa said watching as her father turned around taken a back.

"Theresa." He said shocked, before getting up and running over to her hugging her.

"You never told me you were coming home." He said surprised.

Smiling Theresa sat down in the chair beside him, "I just needed to get away." Theresa said not sure what else to say to him.

"Yes, I can imagine." He said before turning his attention back to his work, Theresa smiled in spite of herself, at least nothing had changed for her father, his life would continue normally; Theresa contemplated again about erasing her memory, before deciding against it, that would be the easy way out.

"Uh I'll see you later, Dad." Theresa said before walking out of the room, and making her way back downstairs carefully, and walking into her room, and sitting on her bed, Theresa looked around her room, the room where she used to spend loads of time as a child, but now this room, this house, didn't feel like home, it felt like a prison of sorts, Theresa knew that she would never fit in here again, after living at the dorm for so long with her friends, she had gotten used to doing things for herself, and she had been used to constantly having people to talk to, here she really had no one… and the house was far too close to New Olympia, only fifteen minutes away, and that was far too close for her, for Theresa knew that the memories that she had would be more vivid for her than for anyone else, since she could just drive right back down the road and be back at the high school.

"I can't stay here…" Theresa mumbled to herself, as a tear escaped her eye.

Theresa looked around for her cell phone before finding it on her desk, she walked over and picked it up, dialling a number. It only took three rings for the phone to be picked up.

"Hello, Air Canada." The woman said.

"Hi there, I was wondering if you had any flights to Colorado today?" Theresa asked hopeful, she knew that her friend who lived there wouldn't mind if she stayed there for a few weeks… or years.

From the other end of the phone Theresa could hear the woman typing on her computer, "I have one that leaves at 10:30 tonight" the woman said, as Theresa looked at her watch, it was seven thirty, "but it's going to be pricy since you're leaving on such short notice."

"That's fine." Theresa said smiling, "can you send a shuttle?"

"Yes." The woman said as Theresa gave her the address and what time she wanted it for, before hanging up and sighing, she would miss this place but she had to get away, not forever, just for now.

Jay sighed as he looked out the window of his bedroom, he was happy to be home, but he was still on edge, almost like Cronus could attack at any moment, even though his better judgement told him that Cronus was locked away nice and tight, and Campe would make sure he never escaped again. However even though Jay was happy that the hell that he had his friends had been through was finally over, he still felt kind of sad, he had only been home for a few days and already he missed them all, especially Theresa, sighing he looked at his cell phone in his hand, and out of habit he flipped it open, no missed calls, or no texts, not that he was surprised since the phone had been in his hand for the past hour, and it hadn't rung, Jay was so sure that Theresa would have called him, after all they had kissed and been through so much together, was she waiting for him to make the first move? What did he really have to lose? Jay thought to himself as he picked up his phone, and scrolled down to Theresa's number, how different it was not to be using a PMR now Jay thought to himself again as he pressed talk, and waited, before his heart sank when there was no answer.

Jay sighed before looking at his clock, it was five in the evening, Theresa lived roughly five hours away from him, but maybe Hermes could send him a portal, after all he had to make sure Theresa was OK, especially after how she was acting when she left the dorm… Jay knew it was probably going to be a long shot, since Hermes was probably under strict orders not to help Jay or any of the others out anymore, but he had to give it a try.

Taking a deep breath Jay took out his PMR, and pressed the button.

"Hermes here."

"Hey Hermes." Jay said smiling at him through the screen.

"Hey Jay, what's up?" Hermes asked sounding concerned.

"Nothing, I was just wondering…" Jay began before trailing off.

"Wondering what?" Hermes asked.

"Can I possibly get a portal?"

"For what?"

"Well I wanted to go see Theresa, and it would take me 5 hours to drive there and I don't have a car, and I really want to see her, especially after she was so upset this morning." Jay held his breath as he saw Hermes was thinking about it.

"Please?" Jay added almost begging, he normally wouldn't go to such lengths but he really wanted to see Theresa.

"Alright." Hermes said after a brief pause.

"Really?" Jay asked surprised, he didn't think it was going to work.

"We're worried about Theresa too, so at least if you go and see her you can check in and tell us how she is."

"Is she not answering for you either?" Jay asked surprised.

"No."

"Hmm…" Jay said to himself as he began having a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, was she alright?

"Now, I want you to put the PMR down, and in a few moments a portal will appear, just step through it."

"Alright thanks Hermes." Jay said as he put the PMR down on the ground and watched as a portal appeared, taking a deep breath Jay stepped through it.

Theresa carefully placed the note she had written for her Father on his bedside table, he would find it later, she couldn't bear to say goodbye to him right now, besides he probably wouldn't let her leave, and she couldn't be stopped right now. Sighing Theresa picked up her bag and began tip toeing to the door, most of the maids had gone home, now all that was left were the night ones, but they had very little to do and were probably playing poker or something in the kitchen, which meant that Theresa would be able to sneak out no problem, and the shuttle should be outside by now.

As Theresa made it to the front door she took a deep breath and turned the handle as quietly as she could manage, luckily the door no longer creaked like it did when she had left… Theresa forced herself not to think of New Olympia… if she did then she would never leave.

Theresa forced herself not to look behind her at her house as she walked down the drive way, the shuttle wasn't there yet, so Theresa leaned against the lamp post in her driveway, playing on her phone, trying to keep herself busy, she really didn't want to leave but, this was what was best for her… at least right now.

Theresa had been so deep in thought that she didn't notice the bright blue light coming from a portal on her driveway until it was right in front of her, gasping Theresa stood up and reached into her pocket, before remembering that she had given her nun chucks back to Hera before leaving, oh great Theresa thought to herself as she watched as a figure appeared from the portal, Theresa didn't hesitate as she put her hand into a fist and punched them, causing them to fall backwards, hitting their head. Gasping Theresa realized that it was Jay.

"Jay!" Theresa said kneeling beside him, "Jay, can you hear me?" Theresa asked slapping his face lightly, "Jay answer me!" Theresa said tears falling from her eyes, "I'm so sorry!" Theresa said before resting her head on his head, "Jay I'm so sorry!" Theresa said sobbing now, "please just wake up!" Theresa said leaning down to his mouth kissing it, before beginning to sob louder on his chest.

"Wow, you're one tough cookie." Jay said as Theresa gasped almost falling over.

"Jay, what are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see you."

"Why?"

"I was worried about you."

"I'm fine." Theresa said standing up carefully, so she wouldn't fall.

"What's with the suit case?" Jay asked looking to where Theresa had been standing earlier.

Theresa silently cursed; she was hoping he wouldn't see that, "I'm going away."

"Where?" Jay asked standing up slowly.

"Colorado." Theresa said not meeting Jay's gaze, though she could feel it piercing into her back.

"Why?"

"I have to get out of here." Theresa said fighting back tears.

"Theresa…" Jay said walking over to her, putting his hand on her shoulder, Theresa thought about shaking it off, but decided against it.

"I know, it's not my fault." Theresa said in a slight mocking tone, but she was sick of hearing it.

"Theresa, please don't leave." Jay said, it almost sounded like begging.

"Why not?" Theresa asked turning to face him, "what's left for me here, I'm not the same girl I was and I never will be again."

"And I'm not the same guy." Jay said using Theresa's shoulder to turn her slightly, Theresa refused to meet his gaze, "and it's not just because of Cronus."

"What?" Theresa asked surprised.

"Theresa, you've changed me I love you, and I can't live without you, please stay, and we can get through this together."

Theresa turned her head to look at the edge of the driveway as the horn for her shuttle sounded, before looking back at Jay, was she seriously considering staying, after she had made up her mind to leave? Well after all she hadn't intended for Jay to show up and try to stop her… and she loved him too, a lot.

"Jay, I'm going to be pretty upset for a while…"

"And I'll be with you every step of the way." Jay said before lifting her chin up slightly and kissing her soft lips.

"Just please stay." Jay said whispering to her as they gazed into each other's eyes.

Theresa smiled up at him, "I love you, Jay."

"I love you too, Theresa." Jay said staring into her gorgeous green eyes, as they leaned in again almost kissing, before the driver of the shuttle honked his horn again.

"Hey lady!" Came his voice through the window, causing both Jay and Theresa to turn around, "Are either one of you going to get into this car?!" He asked annoyed, Theresa looked up at Jay and as their eyes met, she knew that she had to stay, for being with Jay was where she belonged, smiling she turned back to the driver, "No, I'm sorry for making you drive all the way out here, but I'm not going."

The driver rolled his eyes as he drove away, causing Theresa and Jay to begin laughing, Theresa couldn't believe that she was smiling, that was the first time she had in forever.

"So where were we?" Jay asked smiling.

Theresa smiled as well before wrapping her arms around Jay's neck, and staring into his chocolate brown eyes, before kissing long and passionately, and in that instant Theresa knew that everything would work out in the end, someway somehow, but as long as she had Jay she knew that it would all be OK.
